At Shin-Osaka Station
Ran, Shinichi, Kogoro and Conan just arrived to Osaka right at evening to which greeted by Heiji and Kazuha
"Ran-chan!" said Kazuha happily while greeting Ran
"Kazuha-chan! Long time no see" said Ran happily
"Yo Kudou! You two have been well I see" said Heiji happily to fellow detectives
"Hahaha you could say that" said Conan sarcastic
Heiji notice that both Shinichi and Conan are wearing long sleeves as if hiding something on their hands. Heiji fast reacted and take Shinichi's hand and folded his sleeve which to find some wound marks
"Oi what's wrong?" asked Heiji surprised by the marks
"Eh… ahh… well…" said Shinichi seems don't know what to answer
Heiji who seems suspicious also forcedly take Conan's hand and fold his sleeve as well which to find the almost identical marks as Shinichi
"Oi oi, what happen to you two?" asked Heiji
"Those marks looks awful" said Kazuha worried looking at Conan's marks
"Oh those two were kidnapped a week ago" said Kogoro lightly
"HAH?!" shout both Kansai which grab the whole station attention
"Oi oi Mouri-tantei, I think we can talk about this later at the car or at Hattori's house?!" said Shinichi seems didn't like the stares they get
"You got explanations to do here, starting from how and what happen" said Heiji angrily
Conan and Shinichi look at each other and just sigh remembering what happen to them to get those painful looking wound marks on their hands
A week ago
In a unknown place
Shinichi open his eyes and try to adjust his vision clearly. He was surprised to be in a some sort of basement and only have some pipes on the wall. Shinichi tried to move but he realize that his hands seems to be handcuffed into one of the wall pipes. He tried to remember what happen to him before getting into this situation
"If I recall… I was buying some things in the bookstore and suddenly before arriving to our house…"
He remember that someone suddenly put a handkerchief around face which contain chloroform and after that he passed out. He realize that he was with Conan that time so he look around to find his brother, he look at the center of the room there's a glasses which to be his brother's. He look up and shock to see his brother is still unconscious and tied up around his chest in the ceiling
"Conan!" shout Shinichi
Conan seems still out due to chloroform but he notice that his shoes and his belt is gone. He deduct that when his kidnapper knock him out, Conan seems to fight with his soccer belt and shoes but the kidnapper manage to fight him back and Conan seems didn't use his watch since his watch is still on his hand
"Just who in the world did this…" thought Shinichi while trying to find a way to escape
At Kudou's house
Yusaku, Yukiko and some police officers are now gather at the living room with a laptop, phone in hand and some tracking devices. Well of course since the brothers just been kidnapped so suddenly
"So are you sure that both of them are kidnapped?" asked Megure to his friend, Yusaku
"Yes… we found Conan's shoes and belt lying at the intersection near Professor Agasa's house and also we found a bag full of books and stationery" said Yusaku serious while looking at his phone
"Shin-chan and Conan-chan told me that they are going to the bookstore to buy some school stuffs in advance before the start of the school" said Yukiko worried for her children
"But why the kidnapper take his shoes and belt?" asked Takagi while writing down
"Conan got many gadgets from Professor Agasa and some of it are his belt and shoes. It seems Conan use those to fight with his kidnapper but the kidnapper manage to capture him and to take measures, he take off it" said Yusaku serious
"Wait if I remember, Conan-kun also have that detective badge that can be located with his glasses" said Sato
"We already ask Professor Agasa but it seems Conan's detective badge is in maintenance so he doesn't have it with him"
Suddenly the home phone rings, Yusaku nod to Inspector Megure and all his team are on standby to locate the location. Yusaku take the phone and to his surprised to hear a voice that already change so they can't recognize it
"Welcome back to Japan, Kudou Yusaku" said the person on the phone
"Who are you? What is your motive taking Shinichi and Conan?!" said Yusaku serious
"Ohoo so you already notice that both of them are kidnapped, as expected from the mystery novelist. Don't worry, your son and relative are safe for now"
Yusaku notice that the kidnapper seems fine to talk with him for long time without scared that the police to track his place.
"What are you after? Money?"
"AHAHAHAHAHA"
Inspector Megure and some police officers were unhappy hearing his laugh
"Ohoho I'm not after money. I just want revenge on you, Kudou Yusaku and of course, the first division officers who are now listening to our conversation"
"What?!" said Yusaku and Inspector Megure surprised
"You only have 2 hours to find them Kudou Yusaku, after that… Don't even hope that your son is still alive HAHAHA" said the person while laughing evilly
"Wait!"
"Since I'm being nice to the boys, I give you a hint. You can find both of them lies under the grey dove. I wish you good luck, Kudou Yusaku"
After that the kidnapper shut the phone, Yusaku squeeze the phone in slight irritation. He look at the time which shows the time was 4 PM to which they have to find the brothers before 6 PM. Suddenly he got an email which to be from unknown number. As he open it, it gives a link and message said that recommend to open the link using computer
Yusaku hurriedly type the link in the laptop and to much of his surprised to see a video of Shinichi tied up in some kind of pipe and Conan tied in the ceiling, he look that both of them are unconscious. The video seems to be captured on the corner top ceiling so they can see the full view of the room which to be empty
"Shin-chan! Conan-chan!" shout Yukiko hysteric seeing his sons
"Don't worry Yukiko, we will find them" said Yusaku serious
"How's the location?" shout Inspector Megure to the tracking team
"The location changes every minute, the first location was Gunma and the next is Hokkaido and after that Kanazawa" said the officer
"They must have sabotage it, Keibu, ask some of your officers to look at cases that involve me right before I went to LA a year ago… If he said that this is revenge and knowing about he also held grudge to the first division, it should be around that time"
"Okay, Chiba! Look into it" shout Inspector Megure
"Grey dove… what could it mean?" thought Yusaku thinking hard about the kidnappers hint
At the unknown place
"Conan!" shout Shinichi to wake up his brother
Few moments later, Conan open his eyes weakly to which surprised seeing himself tied up in the ceiling with a rope. He look around and find his big brother also tied up to a pipe
"Shinichi-niichan!"
"Finally you wake up" said Shinichi relief a little
"Akhh… They really undid me" said Conan unhappy remembering what happen before he was kidnapped
"What happen?"
"Ahh, right after he knocked you out…"
Flashback
Shinichi fell down to the ground to which Conan surprised to see the kidnapper wearing a mask to cover his face. He quickly use his shoes and let out soccer ball from his belt and kick the kidnapper's face. The kidnapper was thrown far which Conan was sure he already passed out. He quickly go to his big brother and try to wake him
"Shinichi-niichan! Wake up Niichan!" shout Conan worried and about to call the police using his phone
Suddenly another person hold Conan's mouth with a handkerchief
"What?! there's another…"
Before Conan finish his thought, the darkness already overflow him and his body fall right to his brother's body
Back to present
"So the kidnapper is two people huh…" said Shinichi while thinking
"But I still don't get it, why they kidnapped you… I mean you're the famous high school detective, kidnapping you will just getting the police attention" said Conan also thinking
"Not just me who's famous, you too also famous for being Kid Killer… It seems our kidnappers have bigger motive on their hands… All we can do now is wait"
"Wait?"
"Did you forgot? Mom and dad are still in Japan, so they should notice us being missing since I don't see our bag from the bookstore and not to mention your shoes and belt seems to be not in the room as well"
Conan look to his feet and waist which what his brother said is right, no wonder he could feel the chill from his feet. Conan try to think until suddenly a realization to his mind
"Wait… you don't think they kidnapped us is to challenge dad?" said Conan looking to his brother
"Eh?"
"Think about it, Our parents happen to be in Japan right now. If the kidnapper really targeting you or me or both of us, should they pick a day where our parents is back to LA?"
"You're right… but then again, what is the motive of challenging dad by kidnapping us..."
Shinichi notice some light right on the ceiling corner, as he look closely which to be a CCTV which surprised him
"Oi there's a CCTV there!" said Shinichi looking toward the camera
"What?!... Hmmm… It seems is not a cable one so which means" said Conan didn't find any cable around the CCTV
"Either the kidnapper use that to see us or for our parents and the police to see"
"Hm… but still there's something I'm curious"
"What is it?"
"Why am I tied up in the ceiling while you're in there" said Conan seems didn't like the fact he was tangling
Shinichi also curious with Conan's remark, why bother to put Conan up there while himself are at the bottom. Suddenly they heard a dripping sound which from the pipes, he look around to find four holes on the pipe and it seems the pipes are all wet
"It's weird, the pipes are wet not to mention the floor seems damp" said Shinichi while feeling the floor
Conan look around and look closely to the walls to which he realize a line mark. He also tried to look at the little window on the edge of the ceiling but he can't see anything
"Hmmm… how to get down from here" thought Conan looking around
"Oi oi, you are not thinking to jump right?" said Shinichi
"Well I can't untie my ropes but I know I should try unlock yours. If I swing myself, I'm sure I can-"
"I wouldn't do that If I were you" said someone
They all look up which to see the kidnapper with a mask. They are surprised to see that the entrance was hidden very well in the ceiling, no wonder there are no doors or stairs, that means the only way to go down is using a stairs rope
"You… what is your real motive to kidnapped us?!" shout Shinichi in anger
"Are you really a detective?! Can you just figured it out already?" said the kidnapper in mocking voice
"Cih!"
"Fine fine since you going to die anyway, Kudou Shinichi"
Kidnapper words surprised both of them which he said that only Shinichi will die anyway. Before Shinichi press more, the kidnapper continue his words
"My intention is to give Kudou Yusaku to know what I feel year ago. Losing a son in such young age, not to mention he just deduct to say that case was a suicide and left as it was nothing… Hm! What a joke"
Shinichi and Conan were surprised, their dad never tell them that he was involve with a suicide case year ago. Even Shinichi himself who always get updates for that kind of cases didn't know at all
"Don't worry Edogawa Conan-kun, the only person who's going to die is your guardian down there. As long you quietly stay hanging, you can still survive"
"What!?" shout Conan didn't agree with the words
"Then if you don't plan to kill him then why kidnapped him too?!" shout Shinichi angrily
"Why? So he can be the witness of your death, he's the Kid Killer after all so I'm sure he can make a great scene with the reporters" said the kidnapper while laughing evilly
"Demon…" said Shinichi unhappy by his words
"Well that's one of the excuse, my other is the fact he knows I'm kidnapping you… I need Kudou Yusaku and the police officers notice that you are missing little later"
Shinichi and Conan then realize, both of them were kidnapped around 12 PM, Conan look at his watch to which shows that now is almost 5 PM. So in order for his plan to succeed is for his dad notice they're being kidnapped in near evening, they were confused by the fact
"Then where's your partner? He seems not here with you" asked Conan glaring
"Ahh he's just my worker, I only pay him to help me kidnapped both of you. Not to mention, after you knock him out so easily, I have to pay him double"
Suddenly one of the pipe let out water slowly, Shinichi and Conan were surprised seeing the water coming out
"Oh I see it's starting, well I hope you can hold your breath longer until your dad and the police find you… Kudou Shinichi-kun" said the kidnapper while laughing and closing the door
"WAIT! He's gone, what in the world is-"
Shinichi notice the water smell which to be a sea water, Conan now understand the line marks so he's now swinging his rope in hope the ceiling that held him break so he can go to his brother
"Oi Conan! Don't!" shout Shinichi notice his brother actions
"Like I will letting you die!" shout Conan angrily
Shinichi notice that Conan seems holding something on his pocket. His brother seems have a plan but he was more hoping that his brother didn't get into this mess. Conan already swing for few minutes but still the ceiling didn't budge and the rope also didn't break apart
"Argh! Just what is this ceiling made off?!" shout Conan angrily
Suddenly the three pipes also letting out water from it which make the water start to rise quickly. The water start to rise into Shinichi's chest, Conan who sees it start to take measures. Suddenly Shinichi feel something hurting his hand, he look into the water which to his surprised that there's some glass shards
"Conan stop! there's a lot of glass shards around here!" shout Shinichi
"What?!"
Conan look that Shinichi is hold his pain which means some shards seems to injured him, but then Conan realize that he can use it as his advantage
"Niichan! How much time you can hold your breath?!"
"Eh? I never tried it before, What are you thinking!?"
"Using that as an advantage" said Conan smirking
At Kudou's house
Yusaku look through his table in the library and look at the clock to which he realize that it's now leave to one hour, suddenly he heard his wife screaming so he dash toward her
"What's wrong Yukiko!?" said Yusaku
"There's water rising inside the room" said Yukiko looking at the laptop
Yusaku look at the video which to his surprised to see the water coming toward some pipes and now almost drowning Shinichi, Yusaku sees that starting to get worry. Now he understand what the kidnapper means by 2 hours, which means if they didn't act fast, Shinichi will die from drowning. He notice that Conan seems to be swinging back and forth and Shinichi looks slightly angry to him which means he wants to go to him
"Water… It must be but it could be anywhere?! but wait... I see!" thought Yusaku thinking
"Keibu! Go massive search in Tokyo's port that already in high tide!" shout Yusaku
"Okay, Takagi!" shout Inspector Megure
Yusaku about to go out to help the police but stop by his wife
"Yuu-chan… I want my boys back" said Yukiko scared seeing their panic faces
"Don't worry, I will bring them back… I'm their father after all"
At the unknown place
Shinichi already drown and the water start to rise up to the same height as where Conan is held, Conan look around to find glass shard that was floating which miraculously there is and he quickly use his feet to take it. He uses the shard to rip the rope and he goes into the water, he sees his brother already struggling to hold his breath.
Conan put his floating glasses back to his face, took out a mini pipe from his pocket and put one on his mouth, he took another one and hurriedly swim to Shinichi and put it on his mouth. Shinichi realize that he have some air in his mouth, as he open his eyes he look at Conan in front of him with a pipe on his mouth
"What is this?" asked Shinichi in his thought and telepathically to Conan
"Professor Agasa's invention, mini air tank. It give us 10 minutes of oxygen so better use it diligently. He give me this morning before we go to the bookstore" said Conan in his thought
Shinichi understands and Conan swim closer to Shinichi's handcuff hands, he then ruffle his pockets to find something that can be used to unlock it but he can't find anything. He tried to scan the area to which he sees something to be a paper clip. He swim toward it but accidentally make a glass shard scratch his sleeve but luckily didn't enter his skin yet.
After he get it, he swim back to Shinichi and use the paper clip to unlock Shinichi's handcuff. Conan struggle to unlock it since the glass shards scratched his hands to bleed just like Shinichi's hands right now. Shinichi became worried for his brother but it seems he's very determined to unlock it. Moments of waiting finally Conan manage to unlock the handcuff and they quickly swim to the surface
"WUAH!" shout both of them in the surface while let go of the mini air tank
"Thank you Conan.. are you okay?!" asked Shinichi while looking at his hands
"Not as hurt as yours, man what's with this glass shards… There's also some trashes here" said Conan looking around
"Yeah… but still we only have less time to get some air"
"Why?"
"Look carefully at the wall, there are no line marks"
Conan look around and to his surprised that the line marks that he sees before seems to be gone which means the water already surpassed the line mark
"Wait, did the water already surpassed the line mark that I see?!"
"Most likely, which means this water will fill the whole room in few minutes"
Shinichi and Conan now became worried for their survival in here. Shinichi look around to which he sees carefully the CCTV, he look at the window once more to which barely reach on his own
"Conan, here's I want you to do" said Shinichi serious to his brother
In the police car
Yusaku and Inspector Megure are on their way to the port, he look at the video to see Shinichi is putting Conan on his head and Conan look at the window, it seems the window's hole is too small for him to get out but then he notice that Conan take off his glasses and throw it into the small hole that fit his glasses size. Before he sees more suddenly the CCTV turn off which means the camera already drown
"Inspector, tell the police officers to find a glasses near a window that have the same height as the land! Conan just throw his glasses outside of their place to warn us" said Yusaku serious
"Okay, everyone hear me!" shout Inspector Megure to the phone
Yusaku look to the front and almost arrive to the port
"Shinichi... Conan... hold on" thought Yusaku serious
At the unknown place
Now both Shinichi and Conan have to wait but then the water already rise and reaches the roof and near the window. Shinichi look at the window to see that where they are and now confirmed why there's so many water. Shinichi notice a shivering feeling beside him which to be Conan shivering
"Conan?! You okay!?" asked Shinichi worried
"It's cold…" said Conan shivering
"Oh yeah this is sea water, the temperature must be dropping" thought Shinichi realizing
Shinichi hug Conan close to him so at least to keep warm by their body temperature, Conan still shivering but Shinichi still hug him closer and pray their savior comes faster because Conan's body can't last long in the cold water like this. Shinichi tried to push the door that the kidnapper use to talk to them earlier but it seems he already lock the door and now they can't do anything
"Come on dad… hurry up" thought Shinichi looking to the window
Moments later, there's no more room for their heads so they are force to go underwater with the mini air tank in their mouth. After they go back into the water, the water officially full the whole room. Shinichi help Conan to swim since Conan is too cold to move. Suddenly Shinichi feel the coldness got into his body now
"Nee niichan… If we didn't survive this… What is the thing you will regret not to do?" asked Conan in his thought
"Don't say that Conan… I'm sure we will survive this" said Shinichi didn't like Conan's negative thought
"Just a precaution, in under five minutes we will have no more oxygen and have to rely our own body…"
Conan just look at his big brother tired eyes which Shinichi also see a tired eyes on his little brother's eyes. Conan hug him tighter and so is Shinichi
"Well, if I have things to regret… Maybe not to tell Ran how I feel?" said Shinichi slight blushing while looking away
"I knew you would say that"
"Shut up… so what is yours?"
Conan become silence after his brother's and just look into his eyes. Shinichi deduct that it must be similar to his regret but what comes from his thought really shock Shinichi because his deduction is wrong
"Never got a chance to cure my trauma of that amusement park, and also… not to get to repay you on that day"
Shinichi was surprised by Conan's words to which he quickly hug him close so that Conan can't see his face
"Baka… You already did that by saving me earlier so drop it already" said Shinichi
"I will not until I satisfied"
"Geez, you are stubborn"
"Who am I related to?"
Both Shinichi and Conan realize that the oxygen inside the mini air tank already drained out so now they are forced to relying on their body to hold on. The brothers look at each other while holding on, they look to their bleeding hands to which seems can't helped to smile since their wounds are quite identical thanks to the glass shards
They didn't count how many time has passed when they are holding their breath but they know now they're struggling to hold on. As both of them can't hold much longer, they both look at each other and smile as if bidding good bye to each other. Both Conan and Shinichi let out big breath at the same time to which make the mini air tank let go from their mouth and they goes unconscious afterward, the brothers are now drowning more into the room with their mouth open wide letting the water into their system. Suddenly a light comes out from above and someone goes into the water and take both brothers body with him, which to be their father, Kudou Yusaku
Few moments later
Conan seems trying to wake up to which someone notice it and call him out
"Conan-kun! Wake up Conan-kun!" shout someone
Conan finally open his eyes which to see Takagi in front of him, when his eyes already adjust with the lights he look around to find his big brother who are now being performed CPR by Inspector Shiratori
"Conan-kun is waking up!" shout Inspector Megure who happens to be beside him
"It's fine Conan-kun, we found you so don't worry" said Takagi encourage him to stay awake
"Conan!"
Conan look beside which to find his father who's soaking wet just like him and Shinichi in worried look which he rarely show them
"D… dad…" said Conan weakly
"I'm glad you are okay…" said Yusaku in relief seeing his youngest son waking up and hold his hair
"Kudou-kun is waking up!" shout Inspector Shiratori
Yusaku look to his oldest son to which waking up, Conan tried to sit but he's too weak to do it so Takagi help him since he want to see his big brother
"Shinichi!" shout Yusaku
"Finally… you found us" said Shinichi weakly with a smile
"Sorry for the wait"
Conan and Shinichi look at each other and smile knowing they really have survive this
"I told you we will survive this" thought Shinichi telepathically to his brother
"Yeah… I'm glad" thought Conan give a weak smile
Moments after that both of them goes back unconscious due to tiredness. The officers and Yusaku was glad that both of them are now safe and they are taken to the hospital
Time Skip~
Conan open his eyes to his surprised now he's in the hospital, he look around notice that his both hands are bandage up to his elbow and he also see his mother putting a jacket near the chair
"M… mom?"
Yukiko surprised hear someone call her and she quickly goes to Conan's side and hold his cheek in worried
"Conan-chan! Are you okay?!" asked his mother worriedly
"Ahh… I'm fine now mom" said Conan smiling
"I'm glad… you two really scared me" said Yukiko while hugging his youngest son
Suddenly someone slide the curtain which to be Shinichi in different bed while sitting up
"Shinichi-niichan!" said Conan relief seeing his brother
"Conan… I'm glad you wake up"
"The same as you"
Yukiko smile seeing his sons are now safe but he still hug his youngest son in relief. Suddenly someone comes in which to be Yusaku with different clothes looking at his two sons in hospital bed
"Finally you two wake up" said Yusaku smiling relief seeing both of them
"Yeah… Thank you dad for saving us" said Shinichi serious
Yukiko stand up and goes to where Yusaku is and push him to sit between Shinichi and Conan's bed
"I will get some food and drink, you boys catch up okay" said Yukiko while going out
"Ahh..." said three of them
With that Yukiko is out from the room leaving three boys inside
"Your mother is very worried, you two have been asleep for a day" said Yusaku
"A day?!" shout both of them surprised
"Ran-chan and Conan's friends drop by this afternoon but you two are still asleep so they just leave those fruit basket and flower. They said they will visit again tomorrow"
"Hahahaha… well after what happen" said Conan laughing
"So?" asked Shinichi serious
Yusaku just sigh and give a defeat look to his two sons, he then take a better sitting position and start explaining
"So year ago when Shinichi was hospitalized, I was called by Inspector Megure to help him with a case"
"That figures we don't know" said Conan understand the situation why both of them didn't know anything
"The case was a young boy around Shinichi's age who hang himself in his apartment. The police deduct it as a murder case because the body was hanging high but there's no chair under him"
"I see… Since it's weird for him to hang himself if there's no chair or anything to support him to be on that height" said Shinichi thinking
"Yes but I deduct it as suicide"
"Why?" asked Conan
"After I look into the room, I notice some dusts and bits of paper under the place where the body is hanging. I notice the trash bin was place untidy at the edge of the room despite the room is tidy. After I search more, I notice that there's a robot cleaner that launch every evening"
Both Shinichi and Conan deduct everything they heard, which means the step that the boy used is the trash bin and when the trash bin fell, the robot push it into edge of the room
"I see, then…" said Shinichi
"Yeah the one who kidnapped both of you is the father of the boy, he was not convinced by the fact that his son suicide and he was sure someone murder him and I make the wrong deduction so the police stop investigating. The day after I tell Megure-keibu that it's suicide, Yukiko and I have to go back to LA at that evening so that's why I didn't tell the father anything"
Now everything points out now. The father who is the kidnapper must have wait for their dad to come back to Japan and staying with them like last year. That's why they are kidnapped around now, so that Yusaku is the one who have to find them
"Well that summarize about the case last year" said Yusaku to both of them
"How did you find us? I'm sure not by Conan's glasses lying by the basement window right?" asked Shinichi
"He give me a hint, that both of you are lying under the grey dove"
"Grey dove?"
"I didn't understand at first until I went to the library and find a book about traditional Japanese colors lying on the table"
"AHH!" shout both Shinichi and Conan while looking at each other
Yusaku was surprised by their reaction and waited for them to explain
"That time before he kidnapped us, Conan and I were talking about traditional Japanese colors from we get out of the house and on the way from the bookstore" said Shinichi
"I think he happen to overheard us and with that give the hint based on that" said Conan
"I see, if grey dove is being translated as a traditional Japanese colors we can get Hatobanezumi which if we take that word as a place, it has to be Hatobai (port)" said Yusaku serious
"So you search around the port by only that hint?" asked Conan
"Yeah but I deduct that you two are not far from the sea because your room was filled with water due to high tide so we only search on four places. Sato-keiji and Chiba-keiji happen to find the glasses and quickly apprehend the kidnapper"
"As expected, I happen to see a boat from the window after all" asked Shinichi
"After both the police apprehend him, the police search the whole building but can't find access to the basement to save you two. I search myself after I arrived until I found out that the door to the basement was shut by box full of fishes. After we moved it as I was opening it I see you two are drowning so I jump inside to take you two out"
"Yikes… he's indeed try to kill me for sure" said Shinichi unhappy
"Through he said he want me to survive, in the end I will die too since the water drown the whole basement" said Conan also with annoyed voice
"Yeah… I'm sorry for making you two got into this mess" said Yusaku apologize to both of them
"It's fine dad, at least both of us are fine now" said Conan cheering his father up
"We're indeed lucky to have Professor Agasa's mini air tank, if not I don't even want to imagine it" said Shinichi to his brother
"Ahh we are indeed lucky"
A week later
At Heiji's house
