CHAPTER- 8 : THE PERSON WITH ANSWERS TO THE MYSTERY IS FOUND
Percy was running steadily on the sea ( yep "on the sea ", typical Poseidon stuff) towards the island and the person whoever he was changed into a fish and rushed towards the sea . Percy followed that person under the sea and everything went silent. A long time passed and rest of the others waiting for him started to get worried.
To their surprise ,Percy came out holding a starfish triumphantly, but suddenly the Starfish changed into a lobster and Percy yelled " Annabeth quick! Help me catch him"
Annabeth took out a sphere of woolen yarn and knitted it into a cage and caught the lobster and put him into the woolen cage( Her abilities, she possessed being the Daughter of Athena and her will power together was a huge advantage for the team)
The lobster changed himself into an octopus and so the cage adjusted itself accordingly and finally the creature was caught . Percy got startled after seeing the woolen cage.
" What... How...? " Percy uttered surprisingly.
"It's special Athenian wool seaweedbrain, get it? " Annabeth said gloriously.
" Now if you two are done can you tell who is this creature? " Clarisse intervened rolling her eyes.
" He is Nereus, old man of the sea. You might remember him from war with Atlas." Percy said.
" Ooh interesting, but why have you caught him? " Nico opened his mouth after a long while.
" His presence is never a coincidence, he must be here for some reason. Also he has prophetic powers so he might have answers you know, regarding the prophecy " Percy said looking towards the cage.
" Now we should start the QnA , shouldn't we?" Clarisse said grinning.
"Ya sure but first we have to find a way that leaves him with no choice but to answer our questions! " Annabeth said.
But suddenly the octopus transformed into a old skinny man having seaweeds grown on his legs a. K. a Nereus the old man of the sea
" You need not to compel me for knowledge you demand. I was actually searching for you demigods ,only to share the knowledge you want and don't think this is because I am your friend, this is for a revenge I want to take from someone. And why did I make you chase me? that's because it's no fun to give knowledge to you guys without you chasing me !" Nereus said acting like a good boy (indeed "a good boy ").
" Whi... whi... which revenge? " Grover said (wait was Grover even there? he makes me feel like that. He was quiet for almost forever)
"Uh so you wanna know Satyr. Wait first tell me the prophecy And I will tell you this and whatever else I can tell you. " Nereus said acting like a scholar. You could never make him feel any less.
Annabeth said thinking what it was and then she started reciting it
" Son Of Gaia shall rise to fame,
Use his Father's weapon to do the same.
Go to the place where deceased lie,
To find the item able to bring back lives.
The key holds secrets though non shall tell,
the cost can be death itself .
Heed the words you shall be told,
They shall decide the state of god's home.
Recited by the evil's own,
Might tear the mystery bone to bone.
When the final battle comes in place,
The 7 demigods and mysterious ones shall face the soul in hate.
The choices made will decide all,Including that Olympus shall rise or fall. "
" Hmm... OK but I am telling you don't intervene while I am telling or else you will not get the knowledge you demand. " Nereus said acting like a teacher telling children not to do cheating before exam.
Everyone said in unison " Ohk !"
" So the son of gaia is Pontus, yes most of the people except Titans don't know this. And his father is Aether, the god of heavenly air which the gods breathe, and he is using it to poison the heavenly air and suffocate gods to death which is not far from happening. And from whom and why do I want revenge? I want revenge from Pontus, he is my father. All his children were rewarded with power but he didn't even give me a piece of sea to rule upon arghh..Now you have to figure out rest of the part. Last thing I can tell to ruin my father's plan 2 mortals will hold key to your quest. Now any questions? Even if you have, I am not going to answer. Mhwahahaha... " Nereus laughed and dissapered into the sea.
Everyone stood there with their jaws dropped after hearing and processing the knowledge.
