Episode 7: Rocking the Skull
-Hau'oli City, MeleMele, Alola-
On another day at Hau'oli City, Elio, Hau, Lillie and their Pokémon were waiting for Rotom as he suddenly went inside a store saying that he was going to do something.
Elio: I wonder what Rotom planned to do at a store?
Lillie: I have no idea, but he looked pretty excited about it.
Hau however, put his hands behind his back as he was curious about something.
Hau: But what does a Rotom want to do in a store anyway? Any Pokémon I get it, but Rotom?
Both Elio and Lillie knew that was a good question indeed.
Rotom: I'm back!
The kids saw Rotom flying back to them, and he looked very happy.
Elio: So Rotom, what did you buy?
Rotom only chuckled at that as he puffed up his "screen".
Rotom: I should let you know that I'm a self-updating Pokedex, which means I can get features besides giving information about Pokémon!
The kids and Pokémon looked impressed about that.
Elio: Wow! So what functions did you get?
Rotom: I asked the Store Clerk to let me copy some of their devices functions. Now I have a Town Map function updated in me!
The screen changed to show a map of Melemele and showed their current location in Hau'oli City.
Lillie: That's great, Rotom! This will be very useful in a journey.
Rotom: Thanks! I also have a photo camere and a video camera updated in me.
Hau: Really? Then how about we get a group fotot then?
The kids find that a good idea. Rotom set the camera ready as the kids huddled together with their Pokémon in their arms. Elio and Amoka were in the middle while Hau and Mele were in his right. Lillie and Lola were on Elio's left.
Rotom: Say cheese!
Hau, Elio and Lillie: Cheese!
The Rotomdex took the picture of the kids and they knew it was a very good picture.
Elio: That's a good one. We should make copies of these so each of us can have one.
Lillie: That would be nice.
After they're done seeing their picture, it's time for them to start the day, or what Hau is planning to start the day.
Hau: Okay! Since Elio already has a Pokémon, it's about time I caught one as well! And I know just who to catch!
Elio and Lillie were surprised to hear that.
Lillie: You already planned which Pokémon you want to catch?
Hau: Kinda, but I gotta find him first!
With that said Hau started running with Mele on tow as he started searching for that certain Pokémon, leaving Elio and Lillie behind.
Elio: Hey Hau! Wait for us!
The two kids and their Pokémon started chasing after the exciting boy around the City.
-Alleyway, Hau'oli City, Mele mele, Alola-
In one of the alleyways of the City, there was a small but tall playhouse made from wood and stuff that can be gathered in the street. Here playing inside the playhouse was a colony of Pichu.
The Pichu's are small rodent Pokémon with pale yellow fur. Their eartips, collar, and tail are black and angular. They have pink cheek-pouches and a tiny nose the size of a dot. All of them can walk on their hind legs.
The Pichu's are having fun as they play. From inside the playhouse, playing with a ball or a few toy cars. One certain Pichu was watching his colony as he was sitting on a swing tire. But then his ear twitched as he heard something, the same goes for the other Pichu's as they stopped playing and looked at the dark alleyway. Suddenly, slithering out of the shadows of the alley were five Snake-like Pokémon called Ekans.
The Ekans have purple, serpentine bodies, and their eyes, underbelly, the thick stripe on their necks, and rattle tail are yellow. They also have a pair of three black lines encircling their bodies, as well as another line that connects to each of their slit-pupiled eyes and curves towards their nose.
The Ekans then started launching multiple darts of purple poison from their mouths. The Pichu's immediately started dodging from the poisonous attack as the Ekan's drove them away from their playhouse and home. The Pichu that was on the swing looked back at the Ekans and noticed someone coming towards them. The Ekans hissed back and this caused the Pichu to start running again as a white shoe stood between the Snake Pokémon.
-Hau'oli City, Mele mele, Alola-
Meanwhile, Hau and Mele were searching everywhere in the City looking for the Pokémon Hau wants to catch. They looked everywhere, in every nook and cranny of the City… they even dunked their heads in a washtub for clothes. But they found nothing.
Hau: Man... Where could he be?
Mele: Zoor…
Elio: Hau!
Both Hau and Mele turned around and saw Elio and Lillie coming towards them. They stopped to catch their breath as they were a little exhausted from following Hau nearly all over the City.
Elio: Seriously Hau, don't run off on your own like that!
Hau gave them a sheepish smile as he scratched his head.
Hau: Sorry guys, I'm just excited to find him, that's all.
Lillie: You haven't told which Pokémon are you looking for?
Hau smiled at Lillie as he answered her question.
Hau: His name is Duke, and he's a Pichu.
Both Elio and Lillie were surprised to hear the name of a Pokémon who's evolution is a very popular one.
Elio: Your friend is a Pichu?
Hau nodded at that as he remembered how he met him.
Hau: Yeah. Me and Mele explored Hau'oli City a lot. We know a few Pokémon that live here. That's where we met Duke.
-Flashback-
An 8 year old Hau was happily walking through the streets of Hau'oli City with Mele following him. In his arms is a bag filled with delicious Malasadas. Right now the young boy was singing the Malasada song.
Hau: Malasada, malasada. ¡Hey!~
Malasada, malasada. ¡Hey!~
Malasada, you are so delicious. ¡Yeah!~
Mele rolled her eyes at her friend's song as she walked besides him.
(Stomach rumble)
Hau stopped walking as he looked at Mele, who blushed a little after her tummy started rumbling.
Hau: Wow, Mele! You sure must be hungry for some malasadas. (Laughs)...!
Mele continued blushing as she looked away.
(Stomach rumbling)
Mele was surprised as this time Hau's tummy was rumbling as well. The boy laughed nervously at that.
Hau: Hehe… maybe I'm quite hungry too. So perhaps…
The boy looked down at the bag of malasadas hungrily as he really wanted to eat one (all of them).
Hau: Maybe I can eat one right now.
But just before Hau grabbed one.
(Stomach rumbling… loudly)
Hau was very surprised at hearing that incredibly loud rumbling. He looked at Mele as he believed it came from her.
Hau: You are really hungry for malasadas are you? Maybe I should give you one as well?
But Mele shook her head and she said that rumbling was not hers, to Hau's confusion.
Hau: If that wasn't you, then where…
(Stomach rumbling loudly)
The two looked up ahead and saw slumped on a wall was a Pichu. But this Pichu has his cheekbones showing and he looked thin. Hau and Mele became shocked and worried as they hurried up to the downed Pichi.
Hau: Hey! Are you alright?!
Pichu: Pichu… (Stomach rumbling loudly)...
Hau and Mele were surprised to hear that and realized what is happening to the little fella.
Hau: You must be hungry. But where can I find food?
Mele: Zorua!
Hau looked at Mele as she pointed her paw at the bag of malasadas in his hands.
A moment later, Pichu was ravenously eating the Malasada until there was nothing left while Hau and Mele watched. After he was done he looked at the two that gave him the treat.
Hau: Looks like you're alright, are you?
Pichu: Pichu!
Hau was glad the little fella was alright, but then he wanted to know something.
Hau: How did you get so hungry, little guy?
Pichu then started an explanation to Hau… if only the boy understood Pokémon.
Pichu: Pichu?
Hau noticed Pichu pointed his finger at the bag of malasadas, and believed he wanted more.
Hau: You're still hungry? Well, you can take as much as you like!
While Pichu became happy at this, Mele became a little worried as Pichu started calling someone.
Pichu: Pichu!
Hearing the call, a bunch of Pichu's appeared and started chowing down on the bag filled with malasadas, while Hau and Mele only watched in shock.
-End of Flashback-
Hau: After that, Duke and I became very good friends. But there was a terrible price to pay.
Elio and Lillie became worried when he said that.
Elio: What happened back then?
Tears started streaming out of Hau's and Mele's eyes.
Hau: All the malasadas I bought were completely devoured! Not a crumble was left! And we didn't even get a bite!
Hau and Mele continued crying… until they calmed down after taking a bite from a malasada.
Elio, Lillie and their Pokémon sweatdropped when they heard this despite the fact that they're eating malasadas now. Hau led his friends to a malasada shop that was close to Hau'oli City's Marine.
Hau: After that, me and Mele became friends with the Pichu's, and I named the Pichu I saved Duke. It was then that I told him that once I become a Pokémon Trainer, I want him to travel with us together.
Lillie: I see, so it's a promise between friends.
Lillie smiled at that nice thought as Hau nodded at her, but Elio had a question.
Elio: But where are they anyway? I mean, you've been looking for them all day.
Hau frowned as he was asking the same question himself as well.
Hau: I know… they couldn't have left the City, I know that they have been here for some time.
Lillie: Maybe we could ask someone who knows the City around, perhaps they have seen them?
Elio turned to the window and saw someone who could help.
Elio: Like Ilima for example?
Everyone turned to where Elio was looking and saw Captain Ilima standing right in the Marine. They then started heading outside (before paying the malasadas of course).
-Marine, Hau'oli City, Melemele, Alola-
Ilima, the Trial Captain, was deep in thought until someone called his name.
Hau: Ilima!
The Trial Captain turned to the voice and saw Elio and his friends coming towards him.
?1: Yo, yo, yo! Check it!
?2: Wherever, whenever we meet you, Team Skull don't even greet you!
Coming into the Marine were two punks that dressed the same way as the Skull Grunt that Elio fought in the Battle Festival. And although they looked different, their hair was dyed blue. They all strike a pose with their arms forming a circle as they glared at Ilima.
Skull Grunt 1: So, Cap, just give up the Pokémon, yo.
However, Ilima nor the kids even noticed Team Skull was there talking as Ilima recognized the three kids.
Ilima: Oh! It's you three from the Trainer School! Hau, Elio, and… Lillie, right?
The girl nodded at him. Hau then asked Ili…
Skull Grunt 2: HEY!
The group now noticed the two Skull Grunts as they ran towards them, upset at being ignored.
Skull Grunt 1: What, what?! Why you trying to act hard when we're already hard at bone out here, homie?
Skull Grunt 2: Yo, let's check these fools.
Ilima just shaked his head as he wasn't impressed by the two, while Lillie hid behind Elio and Hau as she tried to keep the bag out of view.
Ilima: Oh my… how terrifying…
Ilima turned to Elio as he took a Pokeball with black on top and two yellow stripes coming from above.
Ilima: Only thieves steal people's Pokémon. I won't stand for it. Elio, I'll ask you to take care of that one. I'll get rid of this one.
Elio: Amoka, I choose you!
Amoka: Rockruff!
The Shiny Rockruff stood in front of Elio as the Skull Grunt 1 threw a Nest Ball and out came his Pokémon, a Zubat.
Skull Grunt 1: Let's teach this kid a lesson, Zubat!
Zubat: Screech!
Skull Grunt 2: Come out, Drowzee!
Coming out of the second grunt's Pokeball is a bipedal creature that resembles a Tapir. He has tired looking eyes, a short trunk above his mouth, and triangular ears with brown interiors. The upper half of Drowzee's body is yellow and the lower half is brown. A wavy line separates the two halves. He has a round belly and short legs. His feet are brown except for his two toes, which are yellow. And his hands have three fingers.
Rotom: Bzt! New Pokémon to analyze!
Rotom began checking the data on the two Grunts Pokémon.
Rotom: Zubat. The Bat Pokémon. A Poison and Flying Type. While they have no eyes, they use ultra sonic soundwaves to check their surroundings.
He then turned to Drowzee.
Rotom: Drowzee. The Hypnosis Pokémon. A Psychic Type. It find really fun dreams tasty, and may show those delicious dreams to his friends.
Ilima then threw out his Ultra Ball and called his Pokémon.
Ilima: Yungoos, come.
Coming out of the Ultra Ball was Yungoos, and Rotom started checking the data on him as well.
Rotom: Zzt! Yungoos. The Loiterning Pokémon. A Normal Type. With it sharp fangs, it will bite anything. They originally don't live in Alola and were imported from another Region.
Skull Grunt 1: Zubat, use Supersonic!
Zubat: Sccccrrreeeeechhhh!
The Bat Pokémon let out a supersonic screech that's headed for both Amoka and Yungoos.
Elio: Amoka, dodge it!
Ilima: You too, Yungoos!
They both managed to move out of the path of the sound attack in time.
Skull Grunt 2: Drowzee, use Confusion on that Yungoos!
The Drowzee's eyes glowed and his body becomes surrounded in a red outline. Then Ilima's glowed red and became surrounded in a red outline as well. The Drowzee used his Psychic powers to lift the Yungoos in the air as he struggled to get free.
Rotom: Bzzt! Ilima will be in trouble if he doesn't find a way to free Yungoos from that Psychic attack! Zzt!
However, Ilima was unconcerned as he looked calmly at the battle.
Ilima: Don't worry. There is a simple solution to that.
Skull Grunt 2: Huh?
The second grunt looked confused as he didn't get what Ilima was talking about. The boy raised a finger and snapped.
Ilima: Yungoos, please use Pursuit.
Yungoos body was surrounded in a black aura that helped him free from the Psychic Type attack, much to the shock of Drowzee and his Trainer. Yungoos took advantage of their shock and ran straight to Drowzee's belly, dealing super effective damage.
Ilima: Now finish it with Bite.
A white aura in the shape of serrated teeth appeared in front of Yungoos and he brought them down on Drowzee, causing an explosion that knocked the Pokémon unconscious.
Skull Grunt 2: Ah! Drowzee!
Elio: It's just you and me left!
Skull Grunt 1: And I'll be the one to win, kid! Use Absorb!
The Zubat fired a red beam from his mouth at Amoka, but the Puppy Pokémon managed to dodge every single one of them.
Skull Grunt 1: Grr… Stop dodging and fight!
Elio: If that's what you want? Amoka, use Rock Throw!
Amoka stopped moving as he fired the rocks from his tail straight at Zubat, who didn't manage to dodge in time as he was pelted by the rocks and fell on the ground defeated, much to his Trainer dismay.
Ilima: And that's that.
Ilima snapped his fingers at his and Elio's victory. The grunts returned their Pokémon back in their Pokeballs as they glared at the young Trainer and Trail Captain.
Ilima: Now can you two stop bothering the people of the City, please?
However, the two grunts were too angry to listen.
Skull Grunt 2: Grrr. We'll get you for this, Trail Captain!
Skull Grunt 1: Come one. Let's go back to the hideout that we took from those Pichu's!
Hau became surprised when he heard that as the two Skull Grunts ran away.
Ilima: Goodness, those two have been causing trouble ever since they got here.
He then turned to face Elio and his friends.
Ilima: Thanks for assisting on this, Elio.
Elio: It was nothing, Ilima.
Hau: Um… guys?
Everyone turned to Hau as the boy had a worried look on his face.
Lillie: What's wrong, Hau?
Hau: Those guys, they said they took something from the Pichu's.
Elio and Lillie then understand what Hau is trying to say.
Elio: You mean…
Hau: Team Skull must have done something bad to the Pichu's! Ilima!
Hau turned to the Trail Captain as he was listening to Hau.
Hau: My Pichu friends must be in trouble. Do you know where the Pichu colony lives?
Ilima brought a finger to his chin as he tried to think about where the Pichu lived.
Ilima was then guiding the kids as he had an idea where the Pichu colony are.
Ilima: If I remember correctly, I saw the Pichu's always coming to this place. Going through a wooden fence that's blocking one of the alleyways.
Elio: No wonder you weren't able to find them.
Illima then stopped all of a sudden. The kids wondered why until they saw the Pichu colony itself standing in front of the wooden fence.
Hau: There it is! The Pichu's!
The Rotomdex then began checking the Pichu's data.
Rotom: Pichu. The Tiny Mouse Pokémon. An Electric Type. It is not yet skilled at controlling its electricity, so it may shock itself often.
Ilima then noticed that the Pichu's seemed to be worried about something.
Ilima: Wait, something seems wrong.
The group approached them until the Pichu colony noticed them coming. Two quickly went on the defensive as sparks came out of their little cheeks.
Lillie: They believe that we came to harm them.
Hau: Wow, guys. It's me, Hau! Remember?
This calmed down the Pichu's as they now remembered the young boy they a few years ago. The Pichu's make way as they show one particulary Pichu laying down on the ground with a purple tinge on his face, Hau and Mele could already recognize who this Pichu is. He's the one they have been looking for all day.
Hau: Duke!
Hau quickly ran to the little Pokémon as he kneeled and scooped him in his arms.
Hau: Are you alright, buddy?
Duke: Pichu...
The Pichu groaned as he was in pain. Ilima put his hand on his forehead to check on him.
Ilima: He has a high fever. Ah?
Ilima noticed something on the ground as he picked it up and saw it was some sort of needle.
Ilima: This is a needle of a Poison Sting attack. This poor Pichu has been poisoned.
Hau and Mele became worried that their little friend has been poisoned.
Hau: Can you help him.
Before Ilima say something, Lillie stepped in.
Lillie: Leave that to me!
Hau and Elio were surprised as they saw their shy blonde friend has a serious look in her eyes. She kneeled down and opened her bag. Nebby floated out of the bag but didn't do anything mischievous as she knew the seriousness of this situation. She took a yellow bottle with a spray on it.
Ilima: You have an antidote.
Lillie: Give Duke to me.
Hau did that as she give Duke to Lillie. The blonde girl craddled the poisoned Pichu in her arms as she sprayed the antidote on him. A few moments later, the purple tinge on his face dissapeared as Duke slowly opened his eyes.
Rotom: Duke is cured of the poison! Zzt!
The Pichu's cheered as Duke look around in confusion.
Hau: Duke!
Duke turned to Hau and recognized the boy that shared his malasada to safe his life.
Duke: Pichu? Piii!
Duke jumped of Lillie's arms and into Hau's as the two were glad to see each other again.
Hau: Hahaha! Yeah, I'm glad to see you again, Duke.
Hau then put Duke on the floor as the Pichu looked at him.
Hau: But tell me, buddy. Did Team Skull attacked you?
Duke: pichu! Pi! Pichu, pi!
Rotom He says that a group of Humans whose dress made them think of skulls attacked them with Ekan's and drove them away of their home.
Hau: Ekans?
Rotom brought on the data about Ekans.
Rotom: Ekans. The Snake Pokémon. A Poison Type. By dislocating its jaw, they can swallow pray larger than itself. After a meal, it curls up and rest.
Ilima looked at the poison needle that he picked up.
Ilima: Ekans can use Poison Sting. It's not a strong move but they can easily poison their targets.
Pichu: Pichu! Pichu pichu! Pichupi!
Rotom: It seems the Pichu's has been working hard to build their own home. Duke tried to take it back from them but failed. That will explain how he got poisoned.
Hau got up as he had an upset look in his eyes, something that Elio and Lillie never expect he could do.
Hau: Alright! Me and my friends will help you get your home back! Right, guys!
Ilima agreed with him while Elio and Lillie were still silent in surprise.
Ilima: Indeed. Team Skull has been causing trouble for the people and Pokémon in this City, so we better take this chance to drive them away while have it.
The Pichu colony began cheering in joy, happy that they will get their home back.
At the former home of the Pichu's there were Ekans sleeping there. Sitting on the swing is a female Skull Grunt as she was currently talking to the two male Grunts that were defeated by Elio and Ilima.
The female Skull Grunt wears the same bandana's that the male Grunts wear on their head and mouths. She also wears a black tank top ,white shoes, black armbands, and a chain necklace with the Team Skull logo. She has pink shoulderlenght hair and pink eyes. She wears short white jeans and a black legband with a white zig-zag.
Female Grunt: So let me get this straight. Being defeated by that Trial Captain Ilima is not surprising, but being defeated by a rookie Trainer?! Don't you have any idea how embarrassing that sounds?
Skull Grunt 1: But he wasn't just any rookie, Kayla!
Skull Grunt 2: Yeah! He's the same kid that defeated the one our Boss send at that Battle Festival a few days ago!
Now that caught the female Grunt, now known as Kayla, interest.
Kayla: Really? Are you guys sure that's him?
Skull Grunt 1: I'm really sure! He has that light blue Rockruff with him!
Skull Grunt 2: And the Kahuna's grandson was there too! You know, the one who has that rare Pokémon, Zorua is it called?
Skull Grunt 1: And speaking of rare Pokémon, there was a blonde girl with them that has a Pokémon not from around here too! If I remember correctly, it's a Buneary. But just like that Rockruff and Zorua, It's from a different color too!
Kayla thought carefully about everything the two male Grunts said.
Kayla: Three Pokémon with different colorations. If we nab those Pokémon from those kids, we can get a fortune selling them!
While it was a good idea, the two Grunts wasn't so sure to follow that plan.
Skull Grunt 1: But Kayla, the one the Boss send to the festival was defeated easily by that kids Rockruff, and the Zorua's is just as strong.
Skull Grunt 2: How can we catch them if neither of is three is strong enough to beat them?
Kayla: We have the Ekans here.
All the Ekans rose their heads once Kayla mentions their name.
Kayla: Once we poisoned their Pokémon, they will get weaker the longer they'll battle, and once that happens, then they will be easy enough to be nabbed!
The two male Grungs liked Kayla's plan.
Skull Grunt 1: That's a good idea, Kayla!
Skull Grunt 2: Yeah! All we have to do now is find those kids and then...
Ilima: That wouldn't be necessary.
The Skull Grunts turned to the entrance of the alley and saw to their surprise Ilima, Elio, Hau, Lillie, and the Pikachu colony coming towards them. Amoka, Mele, and Yungoos were in the front, ready to fight if Team Skull doesn't surrender.
Ilima: You Team Skull has been causing quite the trouble since you came to this City, and now you take someone's elses home? I will kindly ask you three to leave.
However, Team Skull wasn't going to give in so easily.
Skull Grunt 1: Who do you think you are, telling us what to do?!
Skull Grunt 2: Team Skull doesn't listen to anyone but the boss!
Kayla: And now that you guys are here, we can take your Pokémon as well as from those kids as well!
The kids and Trail Captain prepared themselves for a battle.
Kayla: Ekans, use Poison Sting!
The Snake Pokémon fired purple glowing needles at them, but they were ready for it.
Ilima: Yungoos...
Hau: Mele...
Ilima and Hau: Use Pursuit!
Both Yungoos and Mele were covered in a black aura and the needles harmlesly bounced off as the two Pokémon tackled the Ekans.
Elio: Amoka, use Bite!
Aura shaped jaws formed in front of Amoka. One of the Ekans fired their Poison Sting at him but they just bounce off due to Amoka being a Rock Type. The Puppy Pokémon bite on Ekans's side before bringing down the aura shaped jaws, causing an explosion.
Elio: Alright, Amoka!
Kayla was gritting her teeth beneath her mask but she wasn't going to give up just jet.
Kayla: All five of you, use Smog!
All the Ekans opened their mouths and sphewed a thick, black smoke that engulfed the kids and their Pokémon. They both coughed as they had trouble breathing. Even the Pokémon were having difficulties.
Kayla: Let's see how you'll get out of this!
Elio: (Darn it! If we can't find a way to get rid of this Smog, we will all lose consiouss and Team Skull will take all our Pokémon!)
They continued coughing as Team Skull just watched, knowing that soon they will be victorious. But then, the sound of a Pokeball opening was heard, and before Elio and everybody else knew it...
Ilima: Use Guts!
The Smog was quickly dispersed by a gale of wind much to the shock of Team Skull. When Elio and the others were able to breathe again, they saw a new Pokémon standing in front of Ilima.
He looked like a bipedal Beagle Pokémon with white and brown fur. He has a long tail with the end resembling a paintbrush. He has a footprint mark on his back. The structure on his head resembles a beret. He has brown, floppy ears and a brown collar around his neck. Rings encircling his eyes and eyelids are also brown. His arms has two brown armbands, and his legs has only one. Each of his limbs has three digits.
Hau: Who's that Pokémon? I've never seen it before.
Elio: If I remember correctly, I think that's a Smeargle.
The Rotomdex then began checking the data on this new Pokémon.
Rotom: Smeargle! The Painter Pokémon. A Normal Type. The fluid secretions from Smeargle's tail changes in the intensity of its hue as the Pokémon's emotions changes. This Pokémon can also copy other Pokémon moves and make them their own!
Ilima: Smeargle, use Ember!
The Painter Pokémon fired the ball of fire from his mouth and hit two of the Ekans.
Kayla: Ekans, use Poison Sting!
Two of the Ekans fired their poisones needles at Smeargle, but Ilima knows how to counter that.
Ilima: Use Water Gun!
Smeargle fired a jet of water from his mouth this time, that not only overpowered the poisonous needles but also hit the two Ekans that fired it.
Kayla: What?! Grrr! Ekans, use Bite!
The only Ekans standing started slithering towars Smeagle with intent to bite him.
Ilima: Smeargle, use Leafage!
Glowing green leafes formed around Smeargle and he fired them at the fifth Ekans, who had no way of dodging them as it was pelted by the attacks.
Elio and the kids were impressed at the Smeargle's ability at using any move.
Elio: Wow. That Pokémon is awesome...
Hau: You said it...
Ilima then walked beside Smeargle as he gave Team Skull a glare in his gentle eyes.
Ilima: Ready to give up, Team Skull?
The Skull Grunts glared at Ilima for dealing with the Ekans so easily, but then Kayla give amused look in her eyes.
Kayla: Give up! Far from it! Especialy since we are still standing and that your Pokémon are in serious trouble thanks to Smog!
Ilima was confused at that before he realized what she meant and looked behind him. True to what Kayla said it seems that both Amoka, Mele, and Yungoos have all been poisoned by the Smog.
Lillie: Oh no! They're all poisoned!
Before anyone could do something, Kayla made her move.
Kayla: Alright, Snakey! Use Poison Sting!
Coming out of the Pichu's house is an even bigger Ekans, who immediately fired the poisonous needles when his guard was down. The Painter Pokémon felt the stings of the Poison Type move and buckled on his knees, as he was now showing signs of being poisoned as well.
Ilima: Oh no! Smeargle!
Elio: There was another Ekans?!
The big Ekans slithered towards Kayla as she petted his head.
Kayla: Snakey here is my Pokémon. The others follow him since he's the strongest.
At these words, the Ekans got back up from the beating they've reseived from Smeargle, looking like they want to go at them again.
Rotom: They're standing back up! Zzt! What do we do?
Both Ilime and Elio sweated as they see that Team Skull is giving them quite the trouble.
Kayla: The only thing you guys can do is get beaten by us so we can get your Pokémon! Now Snakey, use...
Duke: PICHU!
Her sentence was cut off as everyone saw Duke jumped in front of the others and launched a Thundershock at her and Snakey, electrocuting them. Everyone was surprised at seeing Pichu attacked Kayla and Snakey, the two were smoking a little from the shock while her friends chwcked on her.
Skull Grunt 1: Kayla, are you okay?
Kayla shook it off as she glared at the Pichu who shocked her.
Kayla: Why you! You dare try and attack us again?!
Duke: Pichu! Pichu, pichupi!
Rotom then started translating.
Rotom: He said he wouldn't stop unless you give his friends their home back.
Kayla: This is place is Team Skull's hidout now! Do you wanna get poisoned again just like before?!
Elio turned to Hau when he heard that.
Hau: Before?
Elio: So that's what happened. Duke must have tried to get back their home on his own.
Duke continued talking as Rotom translated for everyone.
Rotom: My colony worked very hard making our very own home even though we aren't very strong. It may go the same for me, but I'll keep fighting you until you give our home back!
The colony of Pichu were impressed with Duke's determination and so are Elio and his friends.
Kayla wasn't impressed as she pulled her eyelid down and sticked her tongue (still behind the bandana) at Duke's speech.
Kayla: Nyee! Boring! Now it's for you fall hard. Snakey, use Bite!
Snakey went to attack and bite Duke, but then he was hit by an unexpected Thundershock.
Kayla: Now what?!
Duke turned behind him and saw that his brethen came and now are standing beside him.
Lillie: The Pichu's... they're going to help Duke?
Rotom: It seems Duke's determination give the Pichu's the motivation to fight back! Bzt!
Duke: Pichu!
At Duke's order, a few Pichu's stood in a perfect line between him, and then more Pichu's jumped and stand on their brethen shoulders, until they formed a piramid of Pichu's.
All Pichu's: PIIIIICHUUUUUUU!
With their combined Thundershock, the electric attack was powerful enough to hit and defeat all the Ekans, much to Team Skull shock and Elio's friends being impressed.
Kayla: Snakey!
Skull Grunt 2: They defeated all of them!
Rotom: They combined their Thundershock in one big attack!
Ilima: Now that sure is impressive.
Kayla, however, quickly became upset.
Kayla: That's it! Axen! Kevin! Send out your Pokémon!
Axen you got it, sis!
The two Grunts, now known as Axen and Kevin, send out their Pokémon along with Kayla.
Axen: Come out, Salandit!
Kevin: You too, Rattata!
Kayla: Teach them, Spearow!
Coming out of their Nest Balls are their second Pokémon ready for battle.
Kevin: See that? Once Team Skull combine our power, we bring the beatdown, yo!
However, Elio and his friends wouldn't just stand down for this, and neither are their Pokémon despite being poisoned.
Elio: Amoka, use Rock Throw!
Hau: Mele, Shadow Ball!
Ilima: Yungoos, use Bite! And Smeargle, Leafage!
Duke and the Pichu's also joined in and formed the pyramid again and fired their combined Thundershock.
Team Skull watched the assault of attacks nearing them.
Axen: Kevin, maybe you shouldn't have said that...
BOOM!
With a loud explosion, Team Skull and their Pokémon were sent flying in the air.
Axen: Hey guys! Doesn't this position we are in remind you of someone?
Kevin: Yeah! Some trio from a show who always get their butts kicked and send flying by kids!
Kayla: Well if that's the case, then...
Team Skull: TEAM SKULL IS BLASTING OFF FOR NOW!
Team Skull and their Pokémon then vanished as a twinkle in the sky.
-Ilima's Mansion, Hau'oli City, Melemele, Alola-
Elio and his friends were now at Ilima's home which to their surprise is a mansion. Right now they were at the yard as they saw the Pichu's playing at an old small house that Ilima said it was his clubhouse when he was a kid.
Lillie: It's very nice of you to give the Pichu's your old clubhouse for the time being.
Ilima: Team Skull are a stubborn group, so they'll obviously come back. I will take care of the Pichu's and train them here, only when they're strong enough to defend themselves against people like Team Skull.
Hau then crouched in front of Duke as the Tiny Mouse was beside him.
Hau: Doesn't that sound great, Duke?
Duke: Pichu!
Hau then took out his Pokeball as he showed it to Duke, who looked curiously at it before looking at Hau.
Hau: Remember what we promised when were young? That you and I would go on a journey together? I know that you always protected your colony, but with Ilima's help, they'll learn to defend themselves. And you will become a very strong Pokémon since I'm participating in the Island Challenge! So, what do you say, pal?
Duke looked at Hau while the others watched, until a happy smile appeared on his face.
Duke: Pichu!
Hitting the button on the Pokeball, Duke was sucked in and the Pokeball pinged, signifieng his capture.
Hau: Alright!
Mele: Zor!
Both Hau and mele jumped in joy now that Duke joined their team. Hau called the Tiny Mouse out of the Pokeball as he climbed on Hau's until he's perched on his shoulder.
Ilima: Pardon me...
Hau and Elio looked at Ilima as they boy had a hint of a challenging look in his eyes.
Ilima: I wish to battle both you and Elio if you don't mind?
Hau and Elio were surprised that Ilima was challenging them to a battle, and they eagerly accepted it.
Elio: Sure, we'll battle ya!
Hau: Yeah! It will be fun!
A moment later, Hau, Ilima and Elio stood on battle field while Lillie and Lola sat there ti watch along with Nebby. The Pichu's were also eager to watch along with Duke. Hau and Elio stood one side of the field while Ilima stands alone.
Ilima: This will be a Double Battle! Are you two ready?
Hau: Sure we are! Mele? Go!
Elio: You too, Amoka!
Both Mele and Amoka are now standing side by side again. Ilima then threw two Ultra Balls and called his Pokémon.
Ilima: Come out, Yungoos, Smeargle.
Ilima's two Normal Type Pokémon appeared and are ready to battle.
Hau: Mele, use Shadow Ball!
Elio: Amoka, use Bite!
The Tricky Fox fired the sphere of shadows while Amoka ran with aura serrated jaws in front of him. However, Ilima remained calm as he softly ordered his Pokémon.
Ilima: Smeargle, Gust. Yungoos, use Bite too.
The Painter Pokémon send a gust of wind at the Shadow Ball, which pushed back the sphere back at Mele, who was too surprised at seeing her attack being pushed back before noticing it was too late to dodge as she was hit by her own attack. Hau was surprised at seeing that happened as well.
Meanwhile, Amoka and Yungoos charged at each other. Both having serrated jaws made of aura. Just before Amoka bring his jaws down at the Loitering Pokémon, he moved to another side and then he bit on the Puppy Pokémon's shoulder and the bite caused an explosion as Amoka howled in oain.
Elio: Oh no, Amoka!
The smoke cleared and showed Yungoos having a firm hold on Amoka's left shoulder. Ilima then snapped his fingers.
Ilima: Yungoos, please use Leer.
Yungoos eyes glowed red and sent a red outline at close range, weakening Amoka's defense.
Elio: Ah! Amoka, get Yungoos off of you!
Amoka tried that but he didn't need to do any effort as Yungoos simply let go as he finished what he has done.
Elio: Use Rock Throw!
Spheres appeared around Amoka's tail as they turned too stone and where about to be fired at Yungoos, but Ilima calmly called a counter attack.
Ilima: Use Leafage.
Smeargle, knowing what his Trainer wanted him to do with this attack, fired the glowing green leaves as they passed in front of Yungoos, just in time as Amoka fired the Rock Throw, but the attacks only hit the Leafage that protected Yungoos from harm.
Elio: He used Leafage to block the attack?!
Ilima: Now Yungoos, use Pursuit.
Cominh out of the wall of Smoke was Yungoos claded in black aura as he tackled Amoka, who received quite a lot of damage since his defenses was weakened.
Elio: Amoka!
Hau: Don't worry, Elio! Me and Mele will take care of this.
Mele then stood in front of Amoka as the Puppy Pokémon looked at her.
Hau: Use Shadow Ball 3 times!
Mele did that as she fired 3 consecutives Shadow Balls in a straight line at Smeargle.
Hau: (At this speed and being up close, Smeargle wouldn't be able to counter with Gust even if he wants too! The second Shadow Ball will destroy it and the explosion will dissipate the gust of wind, allowing the third Shadow Ball to go through and hit his target! Hehe! I'm so smart!)
Smeargle didn't move as he allowed the 3 Shadow Balls to hit him as it caused three explosions. Hau was glad that the attack hit, But Lillie however was worried as she called to Hau.
Lillie: Hau! Shadow Ball wouldn't work at Smeargle and Yungoos!
Hau became confused when he heard that.
Hau: Lillie? What are you talking about?
Elio: Hau, look!
Hau turned around and saw the smoke clear, revealing Smeargle stil standing without even receiving a single scratch on his body. Hau's jaw nearly dropped as he saw that.
Hau: What?! But how?! Smeargle was hit by all those Shadow Balls! How come he didn't get a single scratch?!
Ilima chuckled at that as he found this very amusing.
Ilima: Oh my? Don't you know? Normal Types are completely immune to Ghost Type attacks.
Hau: Say what?!
The Rotomdex then explain it even further to how.
Rotom: Ghost Type attacks like Shadow Ball can't harm Normal Types, while Normal Types moves can't harm Ghost Types! It's common knowledge really. Bzt!
Hau grabbed his cheeks as he learned the reality of his mistakes.
Hau: OH NO! I should have paid attention at Tutu's teachings!
Elio: Unbelivable...
Elio grabbed and shook his head in dismay at his friend cluelesness since he knew about that already. While Mele just looked at her Trainer in dismay.
Ilima: Smeargle, use Water Gun.
Smeargle fired they jet of water from his mouth as it hit Mele and pushed her back along with Amoka who was behind her. The two Pokémon were sprawled on the ground.
Ilima: Your turn, Yungoose. Use Pursuit.
The Loitering Pokémon attacked again with his Dark Type move. Hit both Pokémon at the same time and causing an explosion as he jumped back to his Trainer's side. The smoke revealed Mele and Amoka laying on the ground but still consiouss.
Lillie, Lola, Nebby and the Pichu's were surprised at seeing Hau and Elio's Pokémon easily being pushed back. Especially Lillie and her Pokémon since she knew how strong Mele and Amoka and never had to much trouble fighting an opponent until today.
Lillie: I can't believe that Mele and Amoka are being pushed back so easily.
Lola: Neary...
Mele and Amoka then got back up, albeit with difficulty.
Elio: I'll say, Ilima, that you're a pretty strong Trainer.
Ilima: Why thank, elio. I think it's time we finished our battle.
He then snapped his fingers as he's about to finish this.
Ilima: Smeargle, use Ember. Yungoos, Pursuit.
Hau and Elio also fought back, despite knowing their Pokémon are injured enough that with one more hit they will lose the battle. But they will not give up trying.
Hau: Mele, use Shadow Ball!
Elio: Amoka, use Bite!
Their Pokémon attacked as well and very soon all four attacks collided, creating an explosion that covered the field. Everyone watched intently to see who won. Lillie was surprised to see that Smeargle and Yungoos are still standing as the smoke started to clear. The rest of them cleared and showed Mele and Amoka with swirl in their eyes.
Rotom: Mele and Amoka are unable to battle! Zzt!
Hau and Elio ran to their defeated Pokémon as they cradled them in their arms.
Elio: Are you okay, Amoka?
Amoka opened his eyes as he gave Elio a smile.
Amoka: Ruff...
Lillie and Ilima then came to them as Ilima showed two berries in his hands.
Ilima: Let them eat this. Their Sitrus Berries.
Both Hau and Elio picked the berries and give them to their Pokémon to eat. A second later, all the damage they received dissapeared as Mele and Amoka got their strenght back.
Mele: Zorua!
Amoka: Rockruff!
Hau: Hahaha! You're all better now!
Hau raised Mele in the air as the Tricky Fox yipped.
Ilima: Thanks for the battle you two.
Elio: But we weren't able to land a single hit on you.
Ilima: True. So learn that so you and your Pokémon can grow stronger.
Hau, Elio, and even Lillie were surprised as Ilima continued.
Ilima: The path of a Pokémon Trainer isn't just to catch Pokémon and competition. Is for both Human and Pokémon to grow as a person. That's when someone can truly become stronger.
Elio and Hau were really inspired by Ilima's wise words, more so for Lillie as she whispered to herself.
Lillie: A Pokémon Trainer... is to grows as a person...
Elio and Hau then became excited as they looked back at Ilima.
Elio: Just you wait, Ilima! We're going to complete the Island Challenge, and then we're gonna challenge you again!
Hau: You can count me in too!
Ilima laughed a little as he was happy at the two Trainers entusiasm.
Ilima: Once you completed Mele Mele's Island Challenge, then we will have our battle.
Having seen the strenght of the Trail Captain, Elio and Hau are determined to take the Island Challenge even more. With a new friend at their side they can't wait to see what challenges lays ahead as their journey continues.

Pichu/Duke
Bio: Duke is a Pichu that lived with a pack of Pichu's in a street. He acts like their big brother since he always brings them something to eat, though this caused him to forget to feed himself. Luckily, he met Hau and Mele and the two shared their malasadas with him and his pack. He became very close to Hau and the two promised that they will go on a journey around the islands together.
