Nightfall, usually a peaceful time for Japan, but this night was full of suspension and terror. Word about the reincarnated 1954 King of the Monsters had spread like wildfire all over by now.
This put many on high alert in Hiroshima, Tokyo, Hokkaido and Yokohama to a point where millions cowered in underground shelters and military forces had scrambled, tanks rolled in onto the streets and many encircled the cities with gun nests and electrical towers.
Most of Japan was turning into a fortress and this, in the eyes of many media outlets and citizens, was basically the first major crisis seen since the end of World War II and the Cold War.
The last time the whole nation was partially put on high alert was well before the atom bomb dropped, when the air raids had been getting worse while the Allied Forces were capturing major territories, getting ready to invade the mainland, an invasion that never came to pass.
After the first Godzilla appeared, the nation was on alert, but not on a major level. The next Godzilla attack in 2000?
Japan stayed in the green up until the Godzilla vs. Ghost Godzilla conflict and the nuclear bombings of Tokyo.
All these years later, all of Japan was definitely on high alert and becoming a fortress nation facing a seemingly unbeatable enemy. Unlike last time, the people of Japan were afraid they would not survive, it seemed annihilation loomed and there was no way out of it, not this time.
Even the coast guard branch of the army was on alert, patrolling the bay areas in their motorboats and using search lights, keeping an eye out for anything. Even United Nations military forces stationed in Tokyo and elsewhere were on the alert too, American troops and British special forces were hard at work helping the JSDF with preparing for the inevitability of the next monster attack.
Speaking of monsters, Shin had reached Fukushima and was advancing through the city, passing by the same power plant that had melted down 5 years prior.
Like in Nagasaki and the villages of Okinawa, people trembled and cowered in fear before the towering giant as it roared menacingly and smashed buildings to the ground as if they were nothing.
Fires burned in the surrounding area from the ruins of many cars and homes. Half the power plant was decimated, the damage could be fixed and everything would be fine⦠after Shin Godzilla was taken care of and the threat to the world was defeated as threats always were.
Hatred burned in the beast's beady eyes, its toothy mouth curled into an angry frown as the monster growled with rage. Nothing was going to stop its rampage and from unleashing its total fury upon the world, these puny people deserved annihilation and so did this pathetic world that cowered in fear.
Military forces stationed in the vicinity launched desperate counterattacks, deploying tanks and troops only for everything in their power to do absolutely nothing.
The whole city and the rest of Japan had gone into blackout mode, a tactic that had been first used during the war when the air raids had been happening. This time, it was being deployed against a radioactive monster.
Despite the power going out all over the place, that didn't stop Shin Godzilla's rampage. The only things illuminating the night were the stars, the moon, the the lights of many fires burning and the glow of Shin's dorsal plates as well as the red cracks in his skin.
In the streets below, in a nearby district, a boy no older than almost seventeen with brown hair wearing a scarf, shorts and a black shirt was out for an evening walk when he heard the loud footfalls and looked up to see the towering form of Shinzilla looming above as he marched past.
"Well," The kid said, "This trip to Japan just became a bit scary, more so than I expected. Better find a place to lay low if that thing suddenly lets loose its atomic power."
Meanwhile, in the bay area, the coast guard patrol duties did not cease, yet most of the crew on a few of the ships were starting to get bored.
On one ship in particular, young coast guard officer in training Yohaka Maruya, who was getting a bit restless, turned to his fellow officer and said, "Jeeze, this is starting to tire me out. Why can't we go to bed or something?"
The officer, who'd been on the coast guard for years, shrugged and said, "No idea. But we have our orders."
KA SPLOOSH! The gigantic unmistakable outline of a towering dinosaur burst out of the ocean, looming over the ships as it roared menacingly, its roar shaking the harbor area and shattering many windows.
"ITS GODZILLA!" Yohaka yelled.
"Alert the mainland!" The captain yelled, "Retreat! Godzilla's in the area!"
Following his internal radar and Fakerzilla tracker, Godzilla 2000 made his way ashore, smashing a couple boats in the process before marching through the harbor area and decimating a couple buildings. He ignored the battleships opening fire upon him, the fighter jets flying overhead and the tanks rolling into position, the artillery letting lose only to miss by inches.
Godzilla felt cold, his dorsal plates a-glowing as if he would let loose his nuclear breath, but this was different as he was detecting and pinpointing where his nemesis was.
Not to far off, Shin did not cease stop his march, relent or show mercy, any civilians caught in his path were crushed and what remained was a squished and unmoving body laying in a pool of blood.
Street lights exploded in a shower of sparks, clock towers chimed 11:55 before they were silenced when the gigantic tail of the beast swung through the base of them, knocking the towers over.
" ATTENTION ALL CITIZENS IN THE CITY, ATTENTION ATTENTION!" P.S.A systems blared, operated by the authorities, "THOSE OF YOU STILL IN THE VICINITY EITHER GET TO A BUNKER OR MOVE TO A SAFER LOCATION THAT WILL BE UNTOUCHED BY THE BEAST! REPEAT, LET THE AUTHORITIES GUIDE YOU TO SAFETY AND DO NOT PANIC!"
Puny pathetic human beings! Shin Godzilla thought, Do they think they'll somehow be safe from my wrath?
Then, as if he could sense something off, Shin stopped and looked at his surroundings, glancing up at the sky to the stars before looking to his left and his right before a vision flashed before him, a vision of... what was that creature his own size with the purple dorsal plates, orange eyes and the green-dark skin?
The demonic beast snapped out of the vision, growling menacingly. Then...
"SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONK!"
Shin Godzilla turned and saw the beast from his vision approaching, smashing through buildings and crushing cars beneath its feet.
Godzilla 2000 growled, eyes narrowed and mouth lined with razor sharp teeth. "GYAOOOOOOOOONGK!" Shin bellowed, eager to face this challenger who dared attempt to intercept and stop him from carrying out his rampage of doom and destruction.
Overhead, an American news helicopter flew above the city, carrying a cameraman and a reporter, who were witnessing the scene below.
"Well, this is gonna be interesting!" News reporter Davis commented into his mike, "The battle of the century, Godzilla vs. Godzilla, who will walk away. Lets stay tuned..." Cameraman Bill temporarily set aside his camera and got a cup of coffee. "My only bet is that these two will annihilate each other." He said.
Davis rolled his eyes, "Sure they will."
