Joker was enjoying his day, today. His mind was working on the plan to destroy Bruce Wayne, and his obsession with his girl was sated at the moment. He had his men keeping track of Lucius Fox. The man was not easy to keep tabs on. His men were doing a fair job of it. From what he could see, the man went to work and then home. Maybe he needed to get different men on this part. Joker had also hired his friend Eddy to try to crack into the Wayne Enterprises system. He needed good info on the billionaire. Something juicy to sink his teeth into.

The only problem he had at the moment was, he had nothing to do as he waited for some results. Patience was obviously not his forte. It was the middle of the day and he was pacing his office. Tessa was at work and he had been told, quite rudely, that he couldn't bother her while she was at work. He couldn't wait for her to come to her senses and leave that boring job behind.

A knock on his door had caught his attention. He moved to answer it, wondering what was so important that one of his men decided to disturb his pacing. The goon at the door looked barely old enough to buy a beer. Joker just stared at him, the kid looked very nervous. Joker cleared his throat, hoping he would get to the point of the distraction.

"Boss, the papers you asked for." He pushed a small stack of papers toward Joker.

"Ah!" Joker grinned as he snatched the papers from him. The kid was still standing there, waiting obediently. Joker looked him, cocked an eyebrow. "Good job, grab me some lunch, I don't care what, but make it quick."

He shut the door in the kids face and took the papers back to his desk. He pulled his knife from his pocket to cut the twine that held them all together. He stashed the knife back in his pocket and sat down.

The first paper was boring, nothing good for his plans. Stock market up, crime down, blah, blah, blah. He tossed it behind him and into the trash bin, hopefully. In the second paper he hit pay dirt. There was a large article in the business section about the fundraising benefit for Arkham Asylum. He had known about it and had thought about gate crashing. Maybe having a little bit of fun. Ultimately, he had decided against it when he realized his doc would probably be there. He wasn't quite ready to deal with her yet. He had decided to forgo the entire event.

He read through the boring article talking about the money raised would help upgrade the security. That wasn't going to help if they continued to hire corruptible people. He chuckled at the thought and moved to the next page full of pictures. The biggest was a few of the doctors accepting a large cardboard check. He grinned at their oversized smiles as they held the promised money. More pictures of faces contorted with fake laughter, a huge show of extravagance and wastefulness. At the bottom was a picture of his pretty blonde doctor.

He frowned at the sight. She was arm and arm with Bruce fucking Wayne. Could that man not stay away from his things? Harley was his doctor. He really wanted to hurt Bruce. An idea struck him, maybe Bruce and Harley were becoming an item. If he cared for her, well then Joker could kill two birds with one stone.

Harley hadn't been too high on his list of priorities, but this idea shoved her up there even with Bruce. If Joker could kill Harley and hurt Bruce in the process, well, that would just be as fun as a barrel of monkeys. It would really be perfect.

He pushed the remaining papers aside and pulled out his laptop and started searching for Harley's info. It was all too easy to get her cell number, he saved that in his phone. He even found her work number. Within twenty minutes he even had her home address. It was like she wanted to be found.

He was dialing her office number when there was a knock on the door. "Come in."

The door opened and the kid from before came in with a takeout bag from a Tex-Mex place. He set it on the desk in front of Joker and set two cans of soda next to it. He turned and left without a word. Joker already liked the kid. Joker finished dialing the number and waited as it rang.

"Dr. Quinzel speaking." her voice was hard and professional sounding.

"Oh Doc, you sound so bored." he heard her gasp in surprise.

Her voice was a whisper. "Mr. J, why are you calling me?"

"I saw the prettiest picture of you today."

"You did?" she sounded surprised.

"Mmm. You were canoodling with a new boy toy. I didn't know you knew Bruce Wayne."

He heard her giggle. "Are you jealous?"

He frowned, pushing down his annoyance with her he answered. "No, just curious, are you two serious?"

She was silent, her voice shaky when she finally answered. "Maybe."

Joker smiled. "Good, I'll keep in touch." he hung up.

Oh, his would be so good. he skimmed through the rest of the papers as he devoured his food. There was nothing else of interest, the city had gotten so pathetic. This would give a whole new level of fun to his punishment of Bruce Wayne. He had thought about telling Tessa about his plan but dismissed it almost instantly. She, for a reason he could not understand, seemed to have a soft spot for Bruce. She swore they were just friends, but it didn't sit right with Joker. He sensed there was something more. He just couldn't tell what it was. That fact seemed to infuriate him every time he thought about it.
