Chapter Eight

The Craftsman…

Alan, along with Robin and Amita, were doing their best to keep the kids occupied, as the kids were asking where Don and Charlie were.

"Daddy got hold up with a few things." Robin said to her son, Randall, who was demanding where Don was while Amita was doing the same thing with Maggie and Joshua.

"Why don't we play a couple games while we wait for them?" Alan said, hoping that it would make it easier to wait until they heard some news.

"That's a good idea," Amita said, relieved that they might have something that could take everyone's minds off of where Don and Charlie could be.

Before Amita could look for some games, Colby came into the room, looking really concerned which Alan was the first to notice.

"Uncle Colby!" Randall said excitedly, rushing into Colby's arms, nearly toppling the agent.

"Hey big guy." Colby said in a huff

"Can you play with us?" Randall asked eagerly, "Please?"

"Sorry Randy, I have to go back to work soon and I need to talk with you grandpa about a couple things, but maybe one of the next times I'm here, okay?" Colby said, heartbroken that he won't be able to keep the kids company

"Okay." Randy said sadly, going back to his Mom, who took him and his cousins to the living room with Amita staying behind to ask if Alan needed anything

"I'm fine dear, I'll join you guys in a minute."

After Amita left, Alan turned to Colby, who looked nervous about something but he wasn't sure he wanted to know what.

"Would you like something to drink Colby?" Alan said, though he was in no mood for any himself and he was trying to ease the tension

"Thanks Alan but no I have to get back in a few minutes but I cam over because I need to tell you something important regarding this case."

"Anything about my boys?" Alan asked anxiously

"No, I'm afraid not Alan," Colby said, wishing that he did have some kind of news regarding the brothers

"What is it then?" Alan asked impatiently

"Another agent, Director Jack Malone was taken as well and it looks to be related to Don and Charlie's disappearance."

Alan paled as he processed this information, meaning that these… people were targeting his sons and another agent.

"Why?"

"We think it's related to the human trafficking case, as they were the same people witnesses saw at one of the locations where some of the victims were found."

"What should we do?" Alan asked, wondering why Colby needed to be here

"You guys won't be able to do anything but we are putting guards around here to make sure you guys are safe." Colby answered before continuing:

"I hope that won't cause too much trouble."

"It'll be a little inconvenient but all I want right now is for you to find my sons and bring them home safe." Alan said, not caring about the inconvenience

"We will Alan," Colby promised and checked the others before leaving, determined to keep his promise and find his friends.

'Just hold on guys, we're coming.' Colby thought to himself
