Alright, time to update this story. Not much to say, besides how the current arc is about to end. Like, one or two more chapters tops. But anyway, let's answer reviews:1) Nobody245:* The answer might come sooner than you think.* Curses! Lincoln's harem protagonist status is so great, his harem is featured even when that's not the point of the story! XDAnd now, to the chapter!
Rita and Lynn Sr. reappeared in the middle of a detention center, where the Antagonists were talking with their visitors: some were happy, some were angry, but most clearly wanted to be anywhere but there.
"I hope Lynn's still available," Rita remarked. "We already talked with our other daughters, I'd feel terrible if we left her out."
Lynn Sr. looked up, and frowned upon seeing the clock. "Visiting hours are nearly over..."
"Even more reason to pay our daughter a visit," Rita sighed as she sat down and grabbed the phone. "I'm just hoping she's in a better mood this time."
"I heard that, you know?"
The parents flinched as their daughter entered the picture, and really, it was difficult to tell they were even related at a glance.
Lynn had charcoal-colored skin, with red pupils and a sharp glare. Instead of normal fingers, hers ended in claws sharp enough to make a sound. On her back were a pair of large wings, definitely based on some kind of bird of prey, and on her lower bottom was a long, rodent-like tail.
Finally, she wore a red bodysuit with a collar around her neck.
"Sorry, it's just, today's been annoying," Lynn said as she sat down and grabbed the phone. "Did you talk with Lola and the others?"
"Yeah, we did," Rita smiled proudly. "Having to go to several different detention centers isn't as much of a problem when you can teleport."
"I still don't understand why each and everyone of our Antagonist daughters had to be sent to separate detention centers," Lynn Sr remarked. "I mean, sure, they're dangerous individually, and if even two were together they could devise a plan to escape the center-and why do I always end up answering my own questions?!"
Lynn and Rita chuckled at the statement, but their
"This is Katherine Mulligan, reporting from Royal Woods Square, where a large house with elongated legs has stationed itself on the area, with a group of children spotted on top of the building."
The Louds looked up at the TV screen, and with her enhanced vision, Lynn noticed not only Lincoln's presence, but that of Darcy and the birdcaged Lisa and Luna, which prompted an... unusual comment:
"So they went through with it after all..."
Rita raised an eyebrow. "They?"
"Listen, Mom, Dad, there's no time to waste," Lynn stated. "Can you head up to the house?"
"Well, I think I can do it-"
"Good, you're a Protagonist, so head there and help take down the kid," Lynn instructed. "The house should turn back to normal once you do, but you better hurry."
With that said, Lynn hung up and walked away, leaving the parents to hang up as well and teleport out of the detention center, Rita looking rather upset at their sudden leave.
Meanwhile, in another house, a girl played with some dolls when someone changed the channel, arriving at the same news broadcast the Louds saw.
And before long, the girl turned around and crawled to the TV.
"Whoa, that house has legs!"
The girl stood up, covering the screen with her head.
"Hey, Darcy, get out of the way!" a rough, tomboyish voice chided. "Besides, don't you know how much standing so close to the screen hurts your eyes?!"
The girl, Darcy, turned around and said "not really, no" with an oblivious smile before turning back.
It was then that the owner of the voice, a girl with roller skates and two pigtails, stood up, grabbed Darcy and pulled her away, the younger girl flailing her arms and whining the whole way.
"Wait a minute..."
A girl with a pair of goggles that clashed with her rock aesthetic put said goggles on and zoomed the screen, revealing the people on top.
"Isn't that... Darcy?"
"Cool! I'm on TV!" the girl chirped. "But how can I be on TV if I'm here?"
"You can't," another girl, with a lock of black hair covering her eyes, sighed. "It seems she followed through with her bluff."
Darcy blinked twice. "Who did?"
"Darcy, stay here with Tabby, okay?" the pigtailed girl said as she put Darcy on the ground. "Giggles should be coming back soon, so play with when she arrives, okay?"
Darcy tilted her head. "And where are you going?"
The other girl stood up, and generated a small crystal ball as she answered:
"We're gonna go take care of a loose end."
Meanwhile, on top of the haunted house, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne clenched their fists while Darcy clapped and giggled, hopping as she chirped:
"I'm gonna fight the one and only Lincoln Loud! Could this day get any better?!"
Lincoln's eyes widened. "How do you know who I am?"
"Oh please, you really think you've gone under the radar?" Darcy giggled. "The guy who not only for the Edgelord Cliche, but also "managed" to become a Protagonist despite the odds? News like that tend to travel fast, you know!"
"Manage?" Lincoln narrowed his eyes. "Are you suggesting my Indexing was sabotaged, somehow?"
"I'm just talking my mouth off, you're the one putting words in it," Darcy giggled. "But if you really have to know, then yeah, I guess you could say it was sabotaged."
Darcy eyed Lisa. "Wouldn't you agree, Lisa?"
Everybody's eyes landed on the miniature scientist, who took a deep breath before she explained:
"When I discovered what your Cliche was, I quickly searched the Index Database to see what was the chances of ending a Protagonist."
"Wait, I thought Edgelord was unique to Lincoln?" Ronnie Anne asked.
"Cliches aren't just called like that to try be different, Ronnie Anne," Lincoln answered sadly. "As soon as a new one appears, more than a dozen people will have it before long."
"But what matters right now is that, when I checked the Database, the results for Edgelord were astonishing: 97% of people would become Neutrals, with only a one percent chance to become a Protagonist, an Antagonist, or an Outsider. With those ridiculous odds in mind, coupled with your blatantly terrible luck, I deduced that the system must've been sabotaged in order for you to get what you got."
Darcy looked back to see Lincoln's shock... but to her surprise, he didn't seem to mind.
"I see, so my suspicions were correct."
"Suspicions?" Darcy repeated sternly. "What are you talking about?! Didn't you pay attention!? Your Indexing was manipulated to turn you into a Protagonist!"
"Yeah, I figured, it's hardly the first time this has happened."
Darcy's eyes widened. "What?"
"Yeah, the Index has worse security than you'd expect: just get a half-decent hacker or a good enough bribe, and you can get anybody's Cliche changed. Though, granted, most people who do this are morally corrupt, anyway."
Darcy lowered her head, looking positively disgusted. "If that's the case, then this is even worse than I thought..."
"Okay, I'm tired of waiting!" Ronnie Anne snapped while cracking her knuckles. "Are we gonna beat up this brat or not?!"
Lincoln and the tomboy exchanged looks, and he grabbed her arms and began spinning around, gaining enough momentum so that when Ronnie Anne was thrown, she would head straight for Darcy.
Seeing this coming, Darcy simply jumped to the side, missing Ronnie Anne entirely.
"I hate missing!"
Then she looked forward, gaining a cocky smile as she added:
"But not as much as I hate birdcages!"
Darcy gasped, but by the time she turned, it was too late: Ronnie Anne punched the birdcage, her Cliche empowering her fist so hard, it shattered the avian prison in an instant.
"You fool! What have you done!?" Darcy yelled. "Now they'll try steal the credit of my defeat from Lincoln!"
Suddenly, a familiar chirping came from nearby, getting the girl's attention. Once she turned, she saw Clyde and Cristina, the former with his arms spread as his crickets began chirping in harmony, to Darcy's apparent disgust.
However, that only lasted until she noticed Cristina.
She promptly braced herself, ran to Lincoln's side... and kissed him.
Right on the lips.
And before anybody could process what just happened, Cristina literally turned red, steam blowing out of her ears like the air out of a balloon.
"NOBODY KISSES LINCOLN BUT ME AND RONNIE ANNE!"
"I'm sorry, come again?" Ronnie Anne asked in disbelief.
But her words fell on deaf ears. Cristina dropped Clyde at the rooftop and flew towards Darcy...
Only for a newcomer to touch her face and trap her in a large crystal ball.
"About time you arrived, Haiku!" Darcy chirped.
The newcomer, Haiku, turned around to face Lincoln as she levitated the crystal ball that held Cristina captive.
A closer look revealed a simple outfit: long Purple dress with Black accents, black gloves with red fingers, and a black scarf whose red tones made it look like it was covered in blood.
If there was another, more obvious way to out oneself as evil, nobody knew.
"Haiku..." Lincoln repeated with shock.
"You're right about one thing."
Everyone turned around
"That's a Haiku."
The girl finished walking on balls and landed at the rooftop, glaring at her doppelganger as she finished:
"But she's not the Haiku."
