Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Swordsmen and Thief. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I do not own any rights to Fairy Tale, Hiro Mashima, Kodansha and a few others that I may write about.

Clell blinked and looked around with interest. The dark was where he thrived, there was much less people to deal with, nobody kept much guard on things and such.

"Hmm?" Clell stated before looking over his shoulder at Erza. The girl didn't do anything more then continue to look at the other parts of the convoy.

Clell patted his sheathes for his weapons. He knew very well that more opponents would emerge. There were always more people willing to attack them.

"I cannot believe just how well they mined the forest." Clell muttered and sighed as he looked around once more.

"Yes, it seems they've been expecting us to travel through the forest on this route." Erza responded, her eyes tracking Clell who hummed.

"Well, this does seem to be a common trade route." Lucy put in as Clell nodded and titled his head to the side.

"It should be a little more interesting." Clell said as the others moved onwards. "I don't want to have to take someone out if we don't have." Clell stated and cracked his fingers.

Clell knew for a fact that Erza wanted to say something to him. He had been shot at and the first one to encounter the enemy. It wasn't by choice, however. Clell hadn't planned for things to go so lopsided, which meant that things would be much harder from here on.

Clell sighed and rubbed at his temples. This was going to be a long night. Clell could only hum and look to the side.

"Do you want another round of private time?" Lucy asked, sensing the duo had more bad blood to discuss.

Erza said nothing, nor did Clell. But the intent was clear that they should have another talk.

"Oy…" Clell said as the others moved onward. He rubbed at his eyes, tired and without a lot of sleep. "I'd give anything for the ability to get some more sleep." Clell stated to himself before seeing Erza walk to him.

The others moved on, waiting for the others to talk with each other. Clell hummed and blinked before facing the S-Ranked member of Fairy Tail.

"Why did they try to kill you?" Erza questioned to which Clell blinked. "And why did you wonder off?" Erza asked Clell who simply rubbed at his arms.

"I needed air." Clell stated to himself and hummed. "And they attacked me. What? Did you want me to end up letting them shoot me to death?" Clell questioned and leaned on a tree.

Erza folded her arms at Clell. The thief simply adjusted his eyes while trying to focus on the talk.

"Should I point out that if I did nothing, I'd be dead?" Clell questioned Erza and hummed. "Are you madder that I didn't tell you… Or that I didn't feel like talking about something that? I didn't think it should be very concerning. I almost got shot, I dealt with it…" Clell stated to Erza and ran his fingers over his weapons on his back.

"You still could have been killed." Erza responded to which Clell nodded and hummed. "Plus, that attack forced us to relocate. They're could be far more soldiers and thieves." Erza said to Clell.

Clell nodded once more and kicked off the tree. He walked towards Erza while brushing off his jacket.

"I couldn't exactly choose what happened." Clell stated to Erza and looked to the side. "Plus? Some things are not in the cards. I'm a warrior, Erza. I know the risks. I've known them since I decided to have been a thief." Clell pointed out to Erza.

"And yet you could have been killed so easily for someone who doesn't have a lot of combat experience." Erza stated and pointed a finger at Clell.

"You haven't taken risks as a member of the guild?" Clell questioned with amusement. "I've been a member long enough to know that being in the guild means you take risks." Clell said to Erza.

Clell blinked and looked at the convoy. They needed to find a better spot to lay camp. He knew for fact that if they weren't taken care of quick? They'd simply wear the group down and take them out one by one.

Clell sighed and hummed before he started walking to the side. He brushed off his arms and looked at Erza.

"I'm sure we can deal with this later." Clell said and rubbed at his neck. "I don't want to end up dealing with an entire army. We'd be outmatched no matter what happens. Plus? Those thieves will end up returning." Clell stated and hummed before cracking his fingers.

"This is going to be a hard fight anyway." Erza stated and nodded.

The duo started to walk forward which made both wonders just what came next.
