An: I just typed and typed today... so here's another chapter!
*Just say Ben's beast form does not look like the one in the movie. He's an actual animal that's just a big wolf. Just painting a better picture for you all.
Creator of Magic: Yes, Rose snag, but it's more of yell with a harmonic tune. I think if she would have just yelled it, it wouldn't have so much effect. A little more Jonnie in this chapter. The knights are under Audrey's control. Rose will surprise you in this chapter I think. Its mostly about her, just like this whole story. Mal and Maleficent will be explained later in this story. I felt things were never settled between the two like they should have. Ben and rose have pretty much made up, but they haven't talked about it. You'll see in this chapter. Yeah I never liked the end scene how Harry goes from girl to girl. You could always tell Harry liked Uma, and I think he would be the only one for her.
The two were silent. Audrey's eyes were fixated on Rose. At first, her eyes were fearful, but then she tried to mask it with confidence. "I thought you would have run away scared after that little reminder I gave you," Audrey put a hand on her hip.
"I thought you would have run away after that little reminder I gave you," Rose put her hands on her hip. Audrey looked confused. Mal was still laying on the ground, regaining her strength. Celia was in the corner with her hands tied. Ben, Evie, and Carlos were heading up to the roof along with Uma, Harry, Gil and Jane following. The R.O.A.R. team, Lonnie, and Jay were still trying to get a hold on the dragons to steer them towards the action.
"What do you mean a reminder?" Audrey asked. "You haven't talked to me in almost 4 years." Her face was brewing anger. Her expression was familiar to the night Rose had burned down the castle. Rose had to be smart of what she said and how she said it.
"Oh, please," Rose smiled smugly. "There's always something that convinces a villain to rise to power. For me, it was my mother telling me she wasn't proud. For Mal, it was her mom for telling her she wasn't proud of her. But you, Audrey...what's your reason?" Audrey didn't respond, but Rose could see anger brewing inside her. Rose stepped closer.
"Mal took Ben and everything away from me." Audrey was facing Rose now. "I had to claim what was rightfully mine."
"But its not yours to claim," Rose said with a calm expression. "Because you aren't the one who rose to power, its me."
"I was the one who put the sleeping spell on everyone," Audrey waved her scepter around. "I took over the kingdom. I was the one filled with hatred. Nothing can bring me down."
"That would be true, except, you're forgetting who created you," Rose shifted her weight. "The magical letters you poured your heart into. Who did you think really was the one writing back to you? I gave you the plan, and the tools that you needed. You were just another pawn in my game. Did you really think you were original? Please, Audrey, stop kidding yourself. I was the original good girl gone bad."
"You? No way," Audrey gritted her teeth. "You were locked up. You've become soft."
"And yet, here I am," Rose took another step forward. "You've finished the mission I've created. I created you, and now I have to finish what I've started." Rose stepped forward. "Its me who will win tonight."
"No!" Audrey screamed. She turned to her orb and summoned more of its magic. Rose smiled. This was what she had been waiting for. "I deserve it! Me!" She threw a ball of magic to Rose. All she did was stand there. When the magic almost hit her, Rose crossed her cuffed arms. The magic burst flew into the cuffs and broke the seal. The metal clanged as it hit the floor.
Rose had her powers back.
She could feel all the power in her veins pumping rapidly. Rose hadn't felt it since November. Her heart pounded loudly in her chest. The power. It was back. She had never felt so alive, so complete, and yet something was missing. Her body began to float from the ground. Pink flames began to brew around her. Her braid was whipping rapidly behind her back. Audrey watched in amazement and shock. She had just opened the gate that would never to shut again.
Rose's eyes began to glow as she looked down to Audrey. She threw her first fireball, which Audrey dodged. She sent back one Rose's way, which was easily evaded. The two began to duel. Magic of green and pink lit up the dark night.
Audrey had casted more spell. Real wolves began to materialize from no where. Knights stomped in unison. The others had made it onto the roof. Once Ben saw Rose fighting with Audrey, he grinned. He then saw Mal and rushed over to her. Evie, Carlos, and Uma all followed. Mal was sitting up in Ben's arms. "Rose got her powers back." Mal said with a raspy voice. "I got struck down."
"I noticed and you're going to be okay," Ben said. He then heard the snarling of the wolves. Fear rose up in him. He looked to Rose, who was still fighting. She needed him.
"Evie," Uma gasped. "Your eyes." Everyone looked to Evie. Her eyes were glowing red for a moment. She looked down at her hands, then made fists. Carlos looke to her with fear, but she looked determined.
"I have my powers back," Evie looked up to Rose. "She wants us to fight." That's when the thorn dragons roared. The team, Jay, and Lonnie as hopped onto the roof. They drew their swords and began to fight the knights. The Wolves were running around, but weren't attacking yet. Harry, Gil, and Jane had rescued Celia and brought them over.
"Jane, get Celia out of here," Mal instructed as Ben pulled her to her feet. The two didn't question as they ran for the exit.
"Gil, go with and protect," Uma ordered. Gil took one last look at Uma before he ran with them. Evie began to use her magic against the attacking wolves. Carlos, Mal, Uma, and Harry began to fight the wolves as well. If one was stabbed, they would disappear into dust. Ben stood there, unknowing what to do. He needed to become angry. Angry enough to turn.
That's when he heard Rose scream. She had been hit by Audrey. Ben narrowed his eyes as he let out a cry. It changed into a deep, bellowing roar. Hair grew across him as he lunged forward. He became the wolf beast once again. He charged the other animals and began taking them out one by one. The knights were trying to attack Ben, but the beast only flattened them.
Uma and Harry were both working on the same knight. It wielded two swords and almost struck Harry. The sword caught Harry's hook and pulled it off his hand. Uma jumped onto the knight and pushed herself up to catch it. Her fingers fumbled the hook, but her grip tightened around it. She then drove it back down into the knight, forcing him down. The armor collapsed. Harry helped Uma up before charging another.
Lonnie and Jay were taking out multiple knights at a time. They helped each other, but they were both very skilled fighters. Jay stabbed a wolf before it could reach Lonnie. He then gave her a boost to take out another. The R.O.A.R. team was following in their footsteps of team work. The couple had just worked so well together, that Jay felt like they had never been apart.
Evie was giving Mal some cover as Carlos assessed her wound. The lightning was made several of her bones crack. Carlos couldn't fix it, but he wrapped one of Evie bandages tightly around her waist. This would at least keep her together for a little while. Carlos brought Mal to her feet as the three continued to fight.
"Give up yet?" Audrey called. Rose held her shoulder where she was struck. It was a burning sensation, although there wasn't a wound. She took a dep breath before turned back to the evil girl.
"Never!" Rose cried as she threw more magic at Audrey. She did the same as Rose. The two magic streams collided. They had created a standstill. Audrey thrusted her scepter, while Rose push all the magic she could out of her body. She was on the ground again. Her feet were planted on the stone, but she was beginning to slip. She furrowed her eyebrows in determination. Sweat trickled down her forehead.
Audrey smiled as a wolf ran to Rose. It jumped up to attack her. Rose gasped as she watched it fly closer to her. Then the black wolf was taken out by a brown furred one. Rose smiled. Ben was here to protect her. She focused back on Audrey as she forced more magic out of her. It was hard after just getting her magic back to be pushing in it out so quickly. She had forgotten the feeling.
Rose looked at Audrey. She wasn't faltering, not even a muscle. She was controlling all of these other things, and still wasn't affected by Rose's magic. There was no way Rose could keep going like this. Her head was beginning to feel light. Her vision focused in and out. She breathed heavily as he heart continued to pound in her ears. "Come on Rose," she whispered to herself.
The pink magic stream was beginning to overcome the green one. Rose felt a grin on her lips. Another wolf charged her, but Ben cleared the way. She could do it. Rose knew she could.
But then she saw Audrey's attention shift.
Pain pinched in her stomach as all the noise around Rose became silent. Everything was in slow motion. All she could hear was her heart, and her breathing. Audrey's eyes looking at Ben with a mischievous gleam in them. She knew that gleam, and the malicious smile. Rose knew what she was about to do. Audrey was about to kill Ben instead of her.
As Audrey diverted her magic to Ben, Rose screamed. "NO!" She threw out both of her arms. Pink fire surrounded them both, closing out the action around them. The magic stream stopped in mid action. Audrey looked to Rose with a slight fear. Tears were welling up in Rose's eyes. "Don't hurt him."
"Why not?" Audrey said with anger. "He deserves it."
"No," Rose shook her head. "He doesn't. He never wanted to hurt you Audrey. Neither did Mal."
"I don't care what you say," Audrey retorted. "What can you possibly give me to not hurt them."
Rose thought for a moment. A pinch stained her heart as she breathed. There was only one thing she could offer. She never thought she would give it up for anything in the world, but she would give it up for the one person who believed in her more than himself. She would do anything for that one person she truly loved. Even die if she had to, but this was almost worse.
"Take my magic."
"What?" Audrey was plain shocked.
"Please, take it, use it and win the battle. Rule Auradon, but please, don't kill Ben. Don't touch him." Rose stood up straight, but tears continued to fall down her cheeks. Audrey stared at her for a moment. Her eyes were wide. Rose could just she was arguing inside her head.
"Very well," Audrey said. She pointed her staff at Rose. The girl began to levitate again. Green dust began to swirl around her. Rose held out her hands as she felt the power beginning to drain from her. Inch by inch, the sensation left. She curled her finger tips, hoping she could somehow keep a little ounce, but she knew it was no use. The green dust turned to pink as it left Rose's body. She opened her wet eyes. It was gone. Her powers were gone.
"Thank you," Rose panted as she was being lowered to the ground. Audrey was silent for a moment, but then she began to laugh.
"I won't hurt Ben, but one of my beasts will," she continued to laugh. Rose gasped. No. This couldn't happen. She was defenseless now. Audrey waved her scepter. the pink fire disappeared around them. Rose stood there frozen. The next thing she knew, she was flying through the air. Her back his against the castle wall, and Rose fell unconscious.
Rose and Ben were following Belle up the stairs. Rose was only 10, while Ben was 12. Though there wasn't much age difference, Rose was much smaller than Ben. She had to jog to keep up with his long strides. She knew her growth spurt was coming. It was hard to focus on it when she kept doing accidental magic. She was wearing long sleeves today in order to hide the claw marks she had accidentally given herself.
As the two followed Belle into the King's office, a chill ran up Rose's spine. Her father was sitting at his desk. The last time she saw him, she was struggling to claw him as they put her in the metal room. Flashback echoed in the small girl's mind. She shuttered them away. She didn't like to think about her secret. It was something she didn't quite understand herself. But mom had asked her to not tell Ben, so she wouldn't.
"Hey," the King rose from his chair. "I just was wondering when you all we're going to come up."
"What is this?" Ben asked as he looked to both of his parents.
"You're going to be king on day," Beast turned from his family. Behind his desk displayed on the wall, was a silver sword. While Ben's eyes were on his father, Rose's were on the sword. He gently placed it in the young boys hand. "I wanted to teach you both about the sword of Enchantment."
"Woah," Ben whispered as he looked to Rose. She ran her fingers over the small, intricate engravings. "Why do you call it that?"
"Its a powerful resource against all magic," Beast explained. "It can be used in many ways to deflect, detect, and protect you from sources of harm."
"But," Belle added, "It only serves those who are worthy. Your heart must be as pure as your soul. If you use it for evil, the sword will reject its magical uses."
"How do you know if you're pure enough?" Rose asked suddenly. Belle looked to her with cold eyes.
"When you realize your true self, and your needs are the last thing in mind," Belle said before looking away. All Rose thought about was how she would never be worthy. Never.
A sharp breath was taken as Rose awoke from her memory. She was standing in a black room that seemed to stretch for infinity. She whipped her head around as she heard foot steps. Standing there, was a small Rose. She must have only been five-years-old. She recognized the small blue button-up jacket. Her hair was tied back from her face.
Rose walked over to her younger self. Slowly, she stooped down on one knee and hugged the little version of herself. She felt so bad for what she had to deal with. After a moment, the little girl hugged back. Rose let a tear fall from her cheek as she whispered, "I'm sorry."
"Are you?" her voice called from behind. Rose got up to her feet. She turned to see herself at age ten. This one had her hair in a short braid, her clothes were still elegant. "You could have everything you've ever desired."
"What's that?" Rose asked.
"A family," Rose turned to see a Rose who had blood drying around her neck. Her heart sank at the sight. Her own real hand grazed over her neck. The scars were still there. She could feel them. "You could be loved." A tear fell from the duplicates eye.
"And you can prove yourself to Belle," Rose turned again. This time, the other was wearing a royal blue ballgown that was torn. Her hair was wild after ripping her fingers through it. All four versions of herself walked to her. Rose felt like running, but her feet couldn't move.
"I'm not proving myself to anyone," Rose shook her head. Their blue eyes gazed upon her. "Its time that I make my own decisions for my own benefit."
"Then prove yourself to us." The ripped throat Rose said.
"I've lost our magic," Rose shook her head. "There's no hope now."
"The magic never defined who you were," ballgown Rose said sincerely. "You still have to power within you. You just have to believe in it."
"Believe in yourself," all four Roses said as they placed their hands on her shoulders. Rose felt something stir inside her. She closed her eyes.
The real life Rose came from her sleep. Her eyes fluttered open. Forehead throbbing, back stiff and sore, Rose didn't know what was happening in that moment. How long had she been out? Her hearing was muffled, but she could hear the fight going on. She felt so weak, so useless, and powerless. Audrey has her magic, there was nothing she could do.
When she moved slightly, her ears perked to the metal clang of the sword. Her eyes widened. The Sword of Enchantment. Her eyes looked up to the glowing ball of swirling magic. She could see her own pink powers flowing inside the glass. It fueled her hope. She held out her shaky hand and placed it around the swords hilt. With her other hand, she pushed herself up.
She then fell back down. Rose shook for a little while. Her back was in such pain. Her fingers let go of the sword hilt and ran them through her hair. Her braid had fallen out. Her hair was scattered around her head in every which way. She closed her eyes as her heart pounded in her head. Trying to muster up the strength, she listened for anything else. She heard Audrey's laugh, Ben's roar, and the clang of swords. She was running out of time.
Pulling herself up, Rose groaned. "You can do this," she whispered to herself. She planted her boot and shot herself upright. Clutching onto the barricade of the roof. Rose caught her breath. She flipped the sword up and caught it with her hand. Letting out a shaky breath, the girl stumbled toward the glowing glass orb. Her hazy eyes flickered to the battle. Audrey was pressing in. The time was now.
Rose raised the sword of Enchantment above her head and took a deep breath. Her eyes looked up to Ben. He was in human form. His eyes were on her, they looked concerned. It was only now would Rose's soul be tested. If she was pure of heart, mind, and soul, she could do it. With Ben in mind, Rose let a single tear fall as she cried out in pain and anger. She thrusted the sword down. The blade broke the glass and the magic burst from its holding.
There was a distant call. A sweet woman's voice. When Rose opened her eyes, she was no longer on the roof of the castle, she was in a plain white space. She was floating in the air. Was she dead? Where was she?
Materializing, a ball of light glowed. It grew bigger and bigger until a woman with locks of golden hair appeared. She wore a crown that gleam in the sparkling light. Green robes flowed around her. She was described before to Rose by her father. This woman was the enchantress. Rose was speechless and terrified. She was so confused.
"Why are you here?" Rose asked with a shaky voice.
"I'm here to restore you," the Enchantress' voice was soft and dreamy. "Rose. I know how much you have struggled all of your life." Rose lifted her hand up to her neck. "I was the one who gave you your powers."
"What?" Rose was confused. She thought she was born with it. "What about Ben. He can change."
"No, you can change on your own too," the Enchantress looked down. "I had given you magic because I saw something in you that needed to be challenged. Like your father, it was all a test."
"My entire life," Rose was shocked. "Was a test?" She didn't know what to think about it. All of the suffering. All of the pain. It was all her game. This whole time she had been set up for this.
"I know you must be angry, but your life without what happened would be much worse," she said after a moment. Rose's chest became heavy. She didn't know what to think would've happened if she hadn't be given magic. She could be so much happier, and perhaps even loved.
"You destroyed me," Rose was beginning to become angry. "I can no longer have a family thanks to you."
"Rose, if you didn't have your magic," the Enchantress breathed in sharply. "You would've died by age ten."
"What?" Rose felt a chill go up her spine. She tried to kill herself when she turned twelve, how did she die? She felt as if she had been betrayed, but she hadn't know the Enchantress' intentions.
"Your constant changing for years lead you to become insane. Your mother never had tried to help you, because you had never told her. You had tried to kill your parents one night. In self defense and unknowing, the guards shot you down."
Rose clutched her heart. She breathed deeply. Her life was always meant for misery. She had saved her from a tragic death. "Why was I born this way? Why did you help me when you knew all the bad I would do to my family, my brother, this kingdom?"
"Because your soul is pure," the Enchantress said softly. "Purity is not measured in actions, it is measured in self trueness. You had stayed pure to yourself in becoming who you truly were all along. Rose, you were never evil. You have to keep your head high and your heart open. You still have the power to recover what you had lost. You had sacrificed your powers for Ben's safety. You have proven yourself of worth to yourself, and to others. To remind your worth, the sword of Enchantment shall be yours forever. And for your self trueness and reality, your powers will be restored."
Rose didn't know what to say. She finally had the possibility to be more. Rose had been given hope for her future. She had thought she had been saving everyone else, but she was the one that had been saved. She looked up at the Enchantress as she smiled. "Thank you."
The sword of Enchantment materialized in front of her. The small engravings were turned to small roses. She grabbed the sword and sheathed it. Pink magic began to swirl around her wrist. She watched closely as small tattoos appeared where the cuffs used to be. The tattoos consisted of a darker tint of her skin. They shaped into small rose vines with thorns. A rose blossom was carved on each of her wrist. She then felt the power pumping back in her veins. She took in a deep breath. Rose felt such a feeling of gratitude. Her heart pounding inside her. Her hair began to flow all around her. Her eyes began to glow.
In the abandoned room Rose once lived in, the dead rose still sat in its vase on her vanity. The green water had suddenly turned a crystal blue. The stem began a vibrant green. the petal of the rose flourished from their decayed state. A glorious pink washed over the white petals. The rose began to glow. It had been reborn, along with its soul's holder. The souls had bloomed into a new era. A new time of peace.
