Chapter 15 Moon spelled part 3

After the failed attempt to get the crystals, Scar had been in a bad mood (mostly to the crocodiles) the only ones free from his anger was Zira and the Outsiders. But the next day he was in a good mood again.

The hyenas, the skinks and the Outsiders noticed the grin on his face that morning.

"Why do you seem so happy today Scar?" asked Janja a bit nervous.

"Because," said Scar. "Tonight, the moon is gonna be full. And we know what happens to mermaids when they get affected by the full moon, don't we?"

"You mean when they get moon spelled?" asked Zira.

"Yes," said Scar. "Now all we have to do, is to get Kovu to look at the moon or see it's reflection, and then he'll be his complete opposite."

Zira smirked, she knew how kind and innocent Kovu was. "So, if he gets moon spelled, he'll be bad and cruel?" she asked catching on to his plan.

"That's right my dear" said Scar in a sweetly evil voice.

"But Scar," said Shupavu. "There's something I need to tell you…" but Scar wasn't listening.

"Once Kovu's under the control of the moon, his loyalties will lie with us."

"What about that nymph?" asked Vitani. "She apparently has powers too. The lion guard has a new ally now."

"Don't worry my precious little girl," said Scar to Vitani. "Kovu's storm powers will be uncontrollable when he's under the moon's control." He then turned to the Outsiders. "I want you to go to the Pridelands tonight and make sure Kovu looks at the moon" he ordered.

Zira and the Outsiders nodded.

It was the middle of the afternoon, Kovu was sitting on a rock in the sun. But he was looking a bit sad. Bella, Will and Zane saw him and noticed him looking down. They decided to talk to him.

"What's wrong Kovu?" asked Bella.

"Simba saw me with Kiara alone," sighed Kovu. "You know how he gets when I'm with Kiara without others there too. He got upset, you know he doesn't trust me being the heir of Scar and all."

"Don't worry Kovu," said Will. "It's just the way with parents."

"Yeah," said Zane. "Rikki's dad didn't like me at first, I was rude to him because at the time I didn't know he was her father, but after I helped him fix a motorcycle, we became friends."

Kovu smiled a bit, maybe he'd get Simba to trust him soon.

That evening at Pride rock, Kiara and Fuli were getting ready to go into the main den for the night as it was going to be a full moon.

Cleo, Rikki and Lewis were there too. They were in the main den with the lion guard, Kiara, Kovu, Tiifu and Zuri.

Kiara was talking to Kovu again when Simba and Nala walked in.

"Kiara why is he in here?!" cried Simba furiously. "I don't want you talking to him!"

Rikki and Cleo glared at the king; they had clearly had enough of the king's harshness towards Kovu.

Kiara had also had enough.

"Who do you think you are!?" she snapped. "He's my friend and I can talk to him whenever I want!"

"Yeah," added Cleo. "You're worse then my dad with Lewis at first."

Kovu decided to stop the fight.

"It's okay," he said, though with his feelings were noticeably hurt. "I'll go somewhere else."

With that he left the den.

Despite the full moon outside, Kovu decided to go for a walk. As he walked along, he didn't look up at the sky, he just kept looking straight ahead.

He felt upset. What did he have to do to get Simba to trust him?

He walked by Urembo river, it was dark out, so no one was really around. but Kovu froze and pricked his ears. He sensed someone was watching him.

Then stepping out of the dark shadows was Zira and the Outsiders! Zira had an evil smirk on her face.

"Hello Kovu," she said.

"Go away mom!" growled Kovu. "You know what my powers can do."

"I know," Zira said cunningly. "But I also know what happens to mermaids on full moons."

Kovu gasped and turned to run away, but Nuka really wanting to please his mother ran to catch him. It didn't take long due to his skinny appearance which made him agile and the fact that Kovu was smaller than him.

He picked up Kovu by the scruff and lifted him up.

"Time to look at the moon termite" teased Nuka was Kovu kicked his legs trying to escape.

The Outsiders chuckled evilly as Kovu forcefully looked at the moon. He went into a trance like state.

Kovu then snapped out of it, a mean face appeared on him.

He growled and kicked Nuka in the chest so hard. Nuka dropped Kovu and fell over. Zira walked over to Kovu with a triumphant smirk on his face.

"Where do you lie loyal too now?" she asked.

"My loyalties are always to Scar" Kovu said in a dark voice.

Zira and Kovu exchanged a nuzzle and the Outsiders headed back to the Outlands. None of them were aware that Arabella had poked her head up from the river, she had seen everything.

Feeling worried she climbed out of the water and ran to Pride rock as fast as she could.

The Outsiders took Kovu to the volcano in the Outlands, feeling satisfied with what they did to the moon spelled cub. The only one who didn't feel so comfortable with this was Vitani.

The hyenas, jackals and crocodiles all looked intimidated by Kovu. And not just because of the hard and cruel look at his face. They knew about his storm powers, and were worried that if they weren't careful, he would use his powers on them.

Scar erupted from the flames.

"Welcome Kovu" he said in his cunning voice.

Kovu dipped his head down formally.

"I've heard you have weather powers," said Scar. "I have a plan for you to help take over the Pridelands."

"Yes, Scar!" said Kovu with an evil smile on his face.

"Good," said Scar. "Now here's what I want you to do."

Back in the Pridelands the others were wondering why Kovu hadn't returned yet. Kiara was looking outside the door.

Kiara suddenly noticed dark clouds covering the night sky above the Pridelands and then thunder and lightning was heard from all over. Then heavy rain started to pour down.

"It's storming?!" cried Ono looking surprised.

"But the weather was fine just a minute ago" exclaimed Cleo in confusion.

"The weather is unpredictable," Lewis pointed out. "But it does seem unusual it didn't look like there was gonna be a storm a minute ago."

Just then Arabella came running in all drenched from the rain.

"Arabella" said Beshte. "What's wrong?"

"It's Kovu," Arabella panted trying to catch her breath. "He's been moon spelled!"

Everyone was speechless.

"What happened?" asked Kiara.

"The Outsiders came and forced him to look up at the moon," explained Arabella now recovered. "He became so cruel and aggressive and they took him to the Outlands!"

"Scar must've decided to use Kovu's powers to create the storm!" exclaimed Kion in realization.

"So, the Pridelands will get flooded!" cried Fuli catching Kion's thought.

Ono flew out of the den and looked around for a second before flying back in the den.

"The plains are already starting to flood!" he cried. "The herds are already rushing towards higher ground."

"We've got to get Kovu back," said Emma worriedly. "His powers are getting out of control."

"But Emma," said Cleo. "Neither you, me, Rikki, Bella, Kiara and Fuli can't go outside, because if we get rained on, we'll turn into mermaids."

"I'll go," said Simba.

Everyone looked back at Simba in surprise.

"If I hadn't been hostile to Kovu, he wouldn't have left Pride rock," said Simba feeling sorry for what he had said to Kovu. "So, I should be the one to get him out of this mess."

"I'll come too," said Arabella. "Since the girls can't go, you could use a bit of magic to help against a bunch of dangerous predators."

"Thank you, Arabella," said Simba humbly.

"I'm going too," said Kion. "You might need the roar too."

"Of course, I might" said Simba amusedly. Zane and Will offered to go too.

When the five got to the bottom of Pride rock, the plains ahead of them looked like a lake.

"I've got an idea" said Arabella.

She used her powers to open the water to make a path.

"Well done Arabella" said Zane.

Kovu stood outside the volcano, he held one paw up which created the storm clouds that hung over the Pridelands.

The Outsiders, hyenas, jackals and crocodiles watched the storm going over the Pridelands.

"This is great," said Janja. "When Kovu's storms flood the Pridelands, it'll scare everyone out of the Pridelands and then it'll be ours!"

"And any animals who get stuck in the floods will drown and we'll get to eat?" asked Chungu.

"For once you furbrains are right" said Janja.

"But won't it be hard to rule the Pridelands if it's flooded?" asked Nuka.

"When all the Pridelanders are gone, we'll get Kovu to stop the storm and get rid of the water" sighed Zira in annoyance.

Vitani was feeling very worried about her brother. The two had been very close, Kovu tried to be friendly to those who even his family considered enemies. While she didn't like the Pridelanders herself, she didn't like her brother's new behaviour even more.

"Kovu?" she said walking up to him. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

"I have to Vitani," said Kovu in a harsh voice. "It's Scar's orders. We have to get the Pridelanders under our control."

"But you've never considered using force before" said Vitani worriedly.

"Well I do now!" snapped Kovu with a snarl.

He then focused on the Pridelands again.

Kion, Simba, Arabella, Lewis and Zane made it over the boarder into the Outlands. As soon as they entered the Outlands, Arabella closed the path she had made with the flood.

"I'm glad you were here Arabella," said Kion. "We never would've gotten throw the flood if you hadn't used, your water powers."

"Look at how it's stormy in the Pridelands, but here in the Outlands it's all clear" said Zane astonishedly.

"If Scar told Kovu to make it storm in the Pridelands," said Kion. "He wouldn't make the storm extend out here."

Lewis checked his watch. "We won't have to worry about Kovu acting like this much longer," he said. "It's almost dawn."

It was a relief for Simba and the others, but they had to stop Kovu before the Pridelands were destroyed by the floods his storms were creating.

They could see the volcano way off in the distance and they headed for it.

JAW

Kovu was still making it storm, when Mzingo's parliament flew in. They were drenched and looked a bit grumpy.

"How are the Pridelands looking?" asked Zira.

"Well," said Mzingo. "Some of the grazing grounds are flooded, all the animals have left to higher ground."

Zira gave a nod of satisfaction.

"Good, soon all the Pridelanders will have left the Pridelands" she said.

"The Pridelands will be perfect for us crocodiles," said Kiburi proudly. "We can check the Pridelands later on. We'd be better at surveying the Pridelands than the vultures."

"I think we should tell Kovu to make the storm heavier," said Reirei. "Then the Pridelands will be destroyed faster."

"That's not gonna happen!" called a voice.

They turned around to see Kion and joining him were Simba, Arabella, Lewis and Zane.

"What are you doing here?!" growled Zira.

"We're here for Kovu" growled Simba.

Zira and the other Outlanders laughed.

"If you hadn't noticed," said Zira. "Kovu's rejoined the Outsiders, he won't wanna go anywhere with you."

"Only because you moon spelled him!" snapped Arabella. "I saw you!"

Simba growled at the Outsider. Kovu turned around, finally noticing Simba, Kion and the others.

"Kovu, you're coming with us" said Simba.

Kovu glared at Simba.

"My loyalties are to Scar?" he growled. "You think I'm a monster, and well I am!"

Simba ran over to Kovu. The cub tried to raise his paws to strike him with lightning, but Simba got to him and put his paws on Kovu's shoulders.

"No Kovu," said Simba. "You're better than this."

Arabella noticed that with Kovu's eye contact away from the Pridelands, the storm had stopped. "Guy's look." She said pointing towards the Pridelands. Kion, Zane and Lewis looked and saw the Pridelands weren't stormy anymore.

"I think I can care of the flood" said Arabella.

Simba could see lightning was surrounding Kovu, the menacing smirk he had looked as if he was prepared to strike him.

"Come on Kovu, kill him" said Zira gleefully.

But what none of the Outlanders noticed was that the sun was rising.

Kovu raised his paw, but then he went into a trance like state. The Outlanders were wondering why he stopped.

"Come on!" cried Zira. "Kill him!"

Kovu then snapped out of his trance. He looked around at the Outlands surprised to be there. He noticed the Outsiders; he turned to face them and unleashed his lightning powers.

The lightning struck the Outsiders and electrocuted them. Except for Vitani who dodged the lightning.

"Kovu!" cried Zira. "I thought your loyalties were for Scar!"

"I'm not loyal to Scar mother," snapped Kovu. "I'm loyal to the Pridelanders!"

"Janja, why is he going back to the Pridelanders side?" asked Cheezi.

"Yeah," added Chungu. "We moon spelled him!"

"I-I don't know" said Janja unsurely.

Arabella cleared her throat and the Outlanders turned their attention to her. Kiburi and his float, normally fierce and great fighters, backed away nervously.

"What's a worthless nymph like you gonna do?" laughed Zira.

Arabella lifted her hands up in the air and made a few movements. She had a look of concentration on her face.

The hyenas chuckled and Zira smirked.

"Is that it?" she taunted.

But then, there was a loud sound. The Outsiders turned around to look. They saw a big wave washing right towards them. Simba jumped aside, but Kovu wasn't so lucky. The wave got him and he transformed into mer-cub form.

The wave headed towards the Outlanders. Kovu thinking quick held his paw up to lift Vitani up in the air. She was surprised.

"Thank you, Arabella," said Simba to Arabella.

"Your welcome Simba," said Arabella. "The flood water should all be gone."

Later on, Scar's army returned to the volcano all drenched from Arabella's flood. They were wet and cross. But their crossness turned to fear when they explained to Scar what happened.

"You're saying Kovu somehow snapped out of his moon spelled change and went back to the Pridelands with Simba and Kion!?" he said furiously.

Shupavu was the only one who wasn't intimidated by his anger.

"I tried to tell you Scar," she said. "The moonspell only lasts during the full moon. When the moon sets, their free from the moon's control."

Scar looked at Shupavu in surprise. He felt a little embarrass for not listening to a spy he had always treated with respect.

"Very well," he sighed. "I'll just have to come up with a new plan."

With that he disappeared in the flames.

JAW

It was midmorning when Simba, Kion, Arabella, Zane, Lewis and Kovu arrived back in the Pridelands. Since Kovu had been in mer-cub form, Simba had carried Kovu on his back.

Kovu had fallen asleep on Simba's back, he was still damp from the wave, so his green fish tail was still there.

Nala, Kiara, Tiifu, Zuri, the lion guard, Will and the girls were there waiting for them. They were quite surprised to see Kovu sleeping on Simba's back.

"Dad really was a big help," said Kion.

"Yeah," said Zane. "He was trying to get Kovu out of being moonspelled while Arabella took care of the flood."

"I had a feeling that was Arabella's work" said Fuli.

"I guess I was wrong about Kovu," said Simba. "I wasn't very nice to him. But I guess I'll make him feel more welcome."

Everyone felt happy of Simba's changed opinion towards Kovu, especially Kiara.

Author's note; sorry this took so long; I had a writer's block. But I hope you enjoy this chapter and I'll have the next chapter as soon as I can.
