Stepping into king's cross station Hadrian paused a wave of nerves rushing over him thoughts such as will anybody like me, what if I make a fool of myself by not knowing something simple and what if everyone picks on me because I feel more comfortable in the traditional robes. Quickly the feeling of being overwhelmed and scared left Hadrian shaking and gasping for breath until Lewis began meowing loudly snapping Hadrian out of his thoughts and directing his attention away from the over whelming thoughts and feeling.
Slipping the cat carrier backpack around so he could see Lewis Hadrian whispered, "Thankyou Lewis" Puffing up proudly Lewis gave Hadrian a look of did you ever doubt me. Smiling softly Hadrian was reminded of when he had finally named Lewis. During his spare time around studying Hadrian had made lists of names that he liked from his wizarding books then read each of them out to Lewis only to get a disinterested look of distain. By the time Hadrian had gone through four lists of wizarding name he began picking names randomly from muggle books until he picked up the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and tried Lewis. Immediately Lewis meowed then puffed up proudly while still giving a look of what took you so long.
Carefully placing Lewis back on his back Hadrian made his way through Kings cross weaving in and out of the people rushing around the platform. As Hadrian approached the barrier for platform 9 and 3/4 a loud shrill voice cut through the background noise saying, "Ginny dear what was the platform number again?"
Looking over in the direction of the voice Hadrian spotted a large group of red head's standing in front of a small food stall nearby three of the older boys were shushing exasperatedly at the older woman who was dressed in bright green wizarding robes while holding onto two younger red heads a boy and a girl, both which where eagerly scanning the crowds.
Disregarding the red heads Hadrian continued over to the barrier. Closing his eyes Hadrian quickly walked through the barrier once the thick feeling of walking through the wall had left Hadrian opened his eyes.
Gasping Hadrian gazed in awe at the huge red train with silver trimming pulling his gaze away from the train only to find himself staring at the carriages. Each of the eight carriages had a mixture of the house colours without clashing or looking cheap.
Quickly making his way into a bronze and blue carriage at the front of the train Hadrian was pleased to see that there were four compartments in each carriage. Sliding into one of the compartments Hadrian admired the plush green velvet seats and dark blue walls before he began browsing through all of his school books before settling on a rather thick book on Healing potions and how they work.
While Hadrian was oblivious to the world the red headed family rushed onto the platform last minute the mother rudely pushing parents out of her way while the oldest three boys apologised for their mother's actions.
As the Train set of with a jerk Hadrian became aware of how much time had passed looking past the curtain into the corridor, he spotted the youngest male red head and a girl with incredibly frizzy hair. Ducking back so that they couldn't see him Hadrian they weren't like the crazy boy who lived fans that had swarmed him in the leaky caldron.
Taking a deep breaths Hadrian clamed himself just in time to hear the Girl's say, "Okay Ron have you found Harry Potter you know the Headmaster said that we had to ensure that he ended up in Gryffindor." Sliding further down the seat Harry wondered how the girl made her voice so condescending. Grumbling the boy Ron replied, "No Hermione I can't find him and was hoping that you knew where he was which is why I brought us down to the front of the train as no one sits in the front." Frowning Hadrian wondered why no one sat in the front of the train when Hermione sighed, "no need to state the obvious this is the teacher's carriage and no one has ridden in it since the last war."
Quickly the annoying duo left the carriage to continue looking for Harry Potter telling everyone loud enough that they were going to be best friends with Harry (Ron) or that they were the smartest (Hermione) so they better respect them. Snorting in disbelief Harrison resolved to avoid the nasty pair at all costs. Digging out a copy of the Hogwarts charter and bylaws Hadrian quickly determined that yes, he was in the teacher's carriage but as no teachers where traveling to Hogwarts on the train then the students were allowed to use the compartments.
Ten minutes before the end of the train ride a shrill be rang alerting everyone to change into their uniforms. Putting the Book back Hadrian closed the Library compartment then collected his freshly pressed uniform. Once changed into his uniform Hadrian admired how he looked in a small mirror.
Despite the fact that the Dursleys had only given him Dudley's cast off's Hadrian had developed a fascination with Victorian and Edwardian fashion when covering the Victorian revolution in primary. So when Harry had seen the traditional robes he had decided that whether or not the traditional robes where popular that he would be himself and wear what made him happy.
The sudden screech of brakes prompted Hadrian to quickly double check the tag on his trunk with his name was still they're and that Lewis was still sleeping peacefully. Unsure of how long the House elf's would take to move their belongings Harry opened up the cat backpack and quickly scoped a sleepy Lewis out his blue grey coat shimmering slightly in the evening light. One sleepy amber eye briefly opened before Lewis launched himself onto Harry's shoulders then went back to sleep looking a little like the fancy furs that rich business men's wife's where when coming to one of uncle Vernon's business diners.
Satisfied Harrison tapped his wand to the locking rune engraved on the trunk. With a faint spark the trunk made it so that anyone trying to enter the trunk with ill intent would have thief written on their forehead for a week while someone who had confused Hadrian's trunk for theirs would be unable to open the trunk and get a very mild shock similar to pins and needles.
Stepping onto the train station Hadrian took a deep breath in nervous about how the other students would react to him. Suddenly Hadrian was almost bowled over by a flash of black and white. Straitening himself up Hadrian turned to see who had almost sent him flying. As Hadrian spun around, he was confronted with the chest of someone also wearing the traditional uniform however where Hadrian had chosen to button his up, they had a silver chain holding the top closed and the rest of the robe flaring out dramatically.
Stepping backward and looking up Harry was confronted with the whitest hair he had ever seen oiled back and a concerned face asking, "Oh sorry I didn't see you there?" suddenly the boy recognised Hadrian blurted out, "oh I meet you at Madam Malkins. Sorry again, my name is Draco whats yours." Blinking in surprise at the rush of words coming from the tall boy Hadrian replied, "Hadrian Peverell-Potterius-Black but I am going by Hadrian Potter during school for simplicity."
Smiling Hadrian began to follow the crowd of first years who all to his annoyance towered at least a heads hight above him. Just as they reached the small boats the annoying duo shoved there way onto the same boat as Hadrian and Draco where about to board quickly glancing at Draco's annoyed face Hadrian took a deep breath and sat in the boat. From the minute they had sat down Hermione began talking about how see was a prodigy and that she was the smartest in their year if not the whole school. While she was prattling on about all the books, she had read Ron was sneering at Draco who Hadrian could hear muttering under his breath, "I hope she isn't in the same house as me."
Finally annoyed at being ignored Ron Weasley sneered at Draco as he said, "Hey Harry I'm Ron Weasley we are going to be best friends so you shouldn't associate with the Malfoys as they are worthless scum who supported You Know Who."
Blinking in surprise Hadrian replied with, "My name is Hadrian and" before Hadrian could say any more Ron snorted, "No your name is Harry Potter and it is bad enough that you are dressed like an old person."
Sighing Draco turned to Hadrian and said, "Do you know how we will be sorted Hadrian?" glad for a change of subject Hadrian quickly launched into a discussion on how Hogwarts a History would not let anyone who had not been sorted and the intricacy of the spells which ensured that Hogwarts secrets while well known in the British isles remained a mystery to anyone who hadn't attended Hogwarts. Draco theorised that the spells made it so that the information was not herd or read while Hadrian argued that the spell was more likely to make someone distracted and remember something important similar to muggle repelling wards.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that they where engrossed in their debate Hermione began to talk louder and louder about everything she had learnt already and how people should aspire to be as smart as her. This rant continued right up until they entered the Great hall. At which point she began lecturing a slightly pudgy blond boy on the ceiling.
Lining up Infront of the teachers table the first years feel silent as Professor McGonagall placed a battered hat on a stool.
(Insert Sorting Song you all should know it by now)
As the song finished Hadrian watched with fascination as each student that was called out had the hat placed on their head some students like Draco were immediately sorted while others sat there with the hat on their heads of a lot longer, when Harry was called out he calmly walked over to the stool ignoring the whispers of he's so short why is he dressed like my grandfather and dosent he look like a posh prick, I hope someone puts him in his place.
Sitting down on the stool Harrison braced himself as the hat fell down over his head obscuring his view of the other students. Once the Hat had fallen over his eyes a soft voice said, "Ahh Heir Potter-Black now you are a very interesting case you are?" Before the hat could get any further Harry thought, "Can you hear me mister sorting hat and is that your name?" chuckling the hat replied, "Now my name is Alistair but I haven't been asked that question in a long time, not since Merlin who grew up in similar conditions to you but in Camelot that is until Prince Arthur knowingly directed Salazar Slytherin to Merlin in the hope that Slytherin could save his friend from his father."
As hundreds of questions flashed through his head Alister continued with his sorting saying, "Now Hadrian you have the Loyalty of a Hufflepuff and you have enough determination for Gryffindor but your loyalty is hard won ruling out Hufflepuff and while you could be a Gryffindor your ambition and desire for knowledge far out stretch that of a typical Gryffindor leaving Slytherin and Ravenclaw. Now Slytherin would allow you to network and make the most of your fame but I can see that while you are ambitious you care little for your fame but more for personal achievements and while I wouldn't say that you were wise I can see the seeds of wisdom in the way that despite knowing that others might judge you for your choices you still chose to wear the traditional robes as they were what made you happy and comfortable. So I think that Ravenclaw would be the house for you but remember Hadrian Intelligence and wisdom are multifaceted and there are many different types which I hope you will discover in RAVENCLAW."
