(Mars, Black Garden.)
Adam shot one of the Hobgoblins before taking cover. More of the Vex snipers teleported on.
He watched as one of his Legionaries collapsed. A burning hole blasted through his helmet. It made Adam frown and fire another burst which reduced a Hobgoblin to scrap. The remains of the Vex tumbled into the void.
"How did they rally so many Vex so quickly!?" One of the Legionaries asked. The Legionaries fired their Slug Shotguns at advancing Goblins.
"This is the Black Garden!" A Centurion yelled before firing his Bronto Canon. "They are machines! They are as mentally connected as our battle network!" The Centurion added as he fired another round. Two Hobgoblins vanished in a ball of heat and energy.
"Someone terminates the snipers first!" Adam yelled before firing another burst. A Hobgoblin lost its head.
Adam wanted the Hobgoblins gone first. He still remembered the sting of their Line Rifles and the smell of ozone. Their guns almost ripped his head off.
"Where is our air support!?" A Legionary yelled as he took cover. Adam peeked out of cover before a wave of Slap Rifles forced him back. "Where is Sha'aull and his damned reinforcements!?" The Legionary questioned with anger in his tone.
Adam sighed while shaking his head. He had a guess why Blind Legion soldiers were not right behind them.
"The Vex probably teleported them to another spot of the Garden." Adam put in and fired again, killing 3 of the Goblins and a Hobgoblin.
The remaining Vex teleported away, leaving at least 5 dead Legionaries. Adam sighed as the remaining Red Legion soldiers formed up around Adam.
"They delayed us." A Centurion observed. "There be setting up more ambushes up ahead." The Centurion put in while turning to Adam.
"Yes." Adam responded and rested his rifle on his shoulder. "So, we won't advance into their trap." Adam added before turning to the soldiers.
"The Black Garden is a maze of stone." Adam put in with a hum. "The Vex will continue to set up ambushes. We will never make it through them if we keep advancing recklessly." Adam added as he picked up a discarded stick.
"Here's the plan." Adam stated while starting to draw. "We set up a beachhead here. I will try and locate the Black Heart. If we all go through at once? The Vex will cut us down easily. They want us to chase them into the garden." Adam added and checked his rifle.
His HUD displayed 30 rounds. Adam knew he'd find more ammo throughout the maze.
"We can't just say here, commander." The Centurion stated to Adam. "We should fight there together." The Centurion added as Adam shook his head.
"I'm not letting you die in a Vex ambush." Adam responded while starting to walk away. "Keep here and keep the Vex back. I'm going to cut their heart out… Just like I did the last time." Adam put in which made the Centurion hum.
"The Black Heart is the source of the Vex." Prime put to the confused Red Legion soldier. "If we kill it? We kill the garden. Destroying the gate to this place is easy. But taking out the heart? Then the Vex lose big time." Prime stated as his Guardian owner turned and leapt to a lower ledge.
Adam sighed and looked at the Red Legion soldiers as they walked away.
"They really enjoy war, don't they?" Prime questioned Adam who hummed in agreement.
"It's all they know." Adam responded while he brought up his rifle. "The Darkness has tormented them like it has us. I can't blame them for running. We don't even know what the darkness can do." Adam stated to the Ghost.
"Doesn't mean it makes up for the 'razing a thousand worlds and such.'" Ghost responded while Adam slowly walked through the stone corridors.
"No, but it does explain some of it." Adam stated to the Ghost. "Besides, I'm their leader now. I have some responsibility to lead them. And if we can take out the Vex and Fallen? Then we can get control of the galaxy back." Adam added with a crack of his neck.
"The Hive are far more dangerous." Prime put in as Adam hummed and nodded. "We haven't seen them since Crota fell. Not besides the moon invasion you ordered." Prime put in before a squad of Goblins appeared.
Adam dealt with them easily. He gunned down one before smashing another into scrap with an armored fist. Adam growled as one managed to get a few bursts on his armor.
He tossed the Goblin into the wall. It shattered into scrap as it slid down the wall.
Adam slowly walked forward while he cracked his neck. He looked towards the sky and cracked his neck.
"Hmm…." Adam said with a hum and cracked his neck. He tapped his rifle on his shoulder.

Phew. Another chapter done! I want to point out that Adam and the Red Legion are going to have more wars soon. Next chapter will be in 8-10 weeks. It will show Adam hunting down the Black Heart and the Red Legion trying to meet up the Blind Legion. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
