Mockery
Mindy is sitting on the couch, rubbing her eyes.
Before, she was taking a nap in her everyday clothes: a black light jacket with a sweater and navy blue pants.
She pushes up her glasses, looking at the TV. She then looks at a clock, starting to smile.
It's going to be on soon.
Mindy looks back at the TV, hearing the music of the 'NatOcto Show' go through the speakers.
"Well, we have a good thing coming ahead of us," an octoling by the name Nathan spoke. "Do you people know about the Inkopolis Comedy Club? Funny thing I should say."
Mindy tilts her head in confusion.
"So, down at the club, someone was doing a stand up routine there. Now, the staff," the host paused. "The staff had recordings of the whole thing! But, it's just separated into clips. This is her act. Check out this joker."
The show then cuts to a clip of Mindy at the comedy club.
Mindy smiles, waiting for the host to speak.
"You should have listened to what you said there." Nathan, the host, chuckles.
Then, the audience joins in. Laughing with him.
Mindy's eyes widened, looking around herself. She becomes slowly annoyed by the noise.
Stop it, she thought.
"I know, I know. It's a bit uncalled for."
Mindy looks back at the TV screen.
"Let's look at this last clip that we have here."
Another clip was shown. Mindy's voice goes through the speakers.
"When I was younger, people had always told me that I would never turn out to become a comedian, but look at me now!"
Mindy laughs with a smile, waiting for a response.
"You could say that again, pal."
Mindy grits her teeth, hearing the laughter again.
"Shut up!" she yells at the TV screen, walking up to it. She then turns it off, looking at a window.
Mindy digs her fingers into her scalp.
"You all are too stupid to see me. You don't understand me, do you?"
Mindy sighs angrily to herself, letting go of her scalp.
People just don't understand me.
