Chapter 16

Back at the Iki Town after a week stay, they manage to hold the second Island Festival in the Iki Town, due to the fact that Moon is entering the first one again, so the only one that Ash recognizes is Elio, who is pumped up getting his second sticker.

"Hello everyone." Ash says, still in his disguise, "Due to the success of the first Island Festival a week ago, we decide to expand the locations of the festival to this lovely Iki Town, where our famous Tapu Koko can also bless us with this success."

As the crowd cheers, Ash snaps his fingers and then appear on the stage is three basketball nets and three baskets of basket balls. Ash says, "In the Iki Festival, we will be having sports competition, with three of the contestants compete with the sports that we randomly choose in the beginning and the winner gets to advance into the next round. As you can see, the first sport that we choose is the Basketball, so please welcome the first three contestants on stage."

The three contestants are the ones that throw the basketballs while the Pokemon are picking them up so that they can continue to throw. The time limit is a minute and they have to shoot as many baskets as they can. The second sports that Ash picks is the running course, so they prepare three treadmills and Elio is one of the three that competes in it. But with the help of his Rockruff, they manage to score the best and he is the one that advances.

Due to the fact that there are only 12 people who managed to join in the competition, so there are only two more competition. The third one is Soccer, with trainers as goal keepers to kick the balls back to the Pokemon after scoring, and the final one is cycling, which is similar to the treadmills but with the bike machines.

After the intermission, Ash and Lillie go to the backstage and greet the remaining contests, "You all did pretty well with those sports, no wonder you get advanced to the next round."

The four contestants are smiling and Elio says, "It is a good thing that there are showers in the stadium, or else it will be hard to wear those formal outfits when we are sweaty."

"Indeed. This sure is a good idea of creating the sports competition." One girl says.

After the battle rounds, the victory goes to Elio again, who gets the second sticker. Ash says, "And that is all for today's festival, and we already have a person who manages to get his second sticker. Don't worry, there will be more stadiums in the other three islands so that people can attend it. And that's all."

After the business is done, Ash and Lillie head back to the house, where they surprisingly see Golly there. Golly says, "So the Island Festival, huh? So you two have been doing something quite interesting."

Ash says, "Golly, why didn't you call us when you already back home?"

"Well, I wasn't going for a long stay as I am going back to Akala Island. The reason I come is because I want to check out the festival, that's all." Golly says. "I must say, you two did a good job at judging and emceeing."

"Yeah." Lillie says. "By the way, I think that we should also go to Akala Island as well. Since we already finished filling the Melemele Pokedex and the trials here."

Ash nods and says, "So Golly, are you coming with us?"

Golly says, "Nope, I want to train for a while and I might be going to compete in the Island Festival in the Melemele Island."

"Okay, good luck for you." Ash says as they bid her and Aurora farewell.

Once they are at the Hau'oli City's beach, they meet up with Hau. "Hey, Ash! Lillie! I just told my mom that I'm going to Akala Island next! Then she slapped me on the back so hard I'm still feelin' it and sent me on my way!"

"Um...are you okay after that?" Ash sweat drops a little, and he says, "I am fine. By the way, do you think the boat's ready? It's the professor's own boat, right? Let's go to the Marina and check it out!"

As they head there, they immediately greet Professor Kukui, Hau asks, "Hey, Prof, are you sure this old thing's really seaworthy?"

"Hey now! Don't you go calling my boat old! She's not old... Call her a classic. Well seasoned, yeah?" Professor Kukui says with laughter.

"I quite like that it has a sense of history..." Lillie says, and Nebby is starting to shake the bag again.

"Hey, Ash and Lillie! If you're all done with catching Pokémon and shopping, yeah, you wanna head out with us?" Kukui asks.

"Are you kidding me? Of course we are." Ash says and Lillie nods.

"Oh yeah! Time to sail away. Woo!" Kukui says as they get into the boat, and then Professor Kukui starts to sail the boat as they leave the Melemele Island.

"We-e-e are off! Come on, grandma! Kick it up a notch!" Hau yells.

"If we push the boat much harder than this, we may all end up at the bottom of the ocean." Lillie says to Hau.

"Ha ha ha! You're probably just worried about your silly hat flying off! I wonder what kind of island Akala is, huh? Seeing all of Alola for myself is half the fun of doing the island challenge! Isn't this just the best, Ash?!"

"Maybe." Ash says, and just then, they notice two wild Pokemon coming up on the ship, and one of them is a Corsola which is hiding from a purple colored Pokemon. Ash says, "What is that Pokemon? Rotom?"

Rotom says, "Scanning...here it is. Mareanie, the Brutal Star Pokémon. A Poison and Water type. Their head spikes are poisonous and when they attack, they turn upside down and trap prey with their 10 legs."

Corsola is shivering behind Lillie's leg, and Lillie says, "I heard that the coral that grows on Corsola's head is as good as a five-star banquet to this Pokémon...maybe it tries to escape and they accidentally come on board?"

Mareanie tries to use Spike Cannon, but Pikachu reflects the attack and gives it a Thunderbolt, causing it to get paralyzed. Ash decides to give the Mareanie some Pokemon food and then he manages to capture the Pokemon in the end.

Then Ash turns to Lillie, "How about you try capture the Corsola? I remember that the last time you failed to capture one after fishing it out."

"Yeah." Lillie says as he takes out the Pokeball, capturing the Corsola. Kukui says, "It seems like you already filled in another page of your Pokedex."

"Yeah." Hau says, "You two sure are something else."

Once they arrive at the Akala Island, they are now at the Heahea City. Hau says, "Land ahoy! All right! Akala Island, here I come!"

Lillie sweat drops and says, "Isn't it a bit late to declare "land ahoy" after you've already arrived onshore?"

Hau is a little taken aback and he says, "What a stick in the sand! Help me out here, Ash! It was funny, right?"

"It was supposed to be funny?" Ash asks in confusion while Pikachu is mimicking Ash's movements by tilting his head.

"What about you, Professor?" Hau turns to Professor Kukui after giving Ash an annoyed face.

"The land is certainly ahoy, oh boy!" Kukui says, causing Ash and Lillie to be dumbstruck, and Nebby is joining their side of cheering.

"Still haven't managed to find a shirt that goes with your lab coat, hmm, Kukui?" They turn around and see a tan skin woman and a green haired girl by her side. "I've told you you're gonna scare off strangers looking like that..."

Lillie pales as she is afraid that they see Nebby, she says, "...Nebby. Back into the bag."

"Don't sweat it, Lillie." Kukui assures her. And the woman gives out her introduction. "Why hello there. Nice to meet you all—I'm Olivia."

The girl besides Olivia says, "Hey! Thanks for stopping by! I'm Mallow, one of the captains here!"

"I was on my way to see who was pulling into port and ran into Mallow here while she was out on a delivery." Olivia says.

"Yup! My trial will be a chance for all the fine ingredients that make up your team to shine!" Mallow says as she stares at Ash, Lillie and Hau, "Especially you three! Your Pokémon look ready to cook with gas!"

"Um...thanks?" Lillie asks in confusion.

"And Mallow isn't the only captain here on Akala Island, of course." Olivia says. "So? What's the plan, kids?"

"Yeah, that's up to these kids. It's their island challenge, after all!" Kukui says.

"Yes...I suppose so." Olivia says. "Ok then. Enjoy your time on your island challenge, kids, along with your Pokémon. I'll be waiting for my chance to face you in battle when the time comes. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've got!"

"What do you mean by that?" Ash asks, but Olivia turns around and says, "Let's go, Mallow."

Mallow waves them goodbye as she also leaves with Olivia. Kukui says, "I'm sure she wanted to come see that you made it here all right... But she'll never admit it to you! Hah! That's Olivia for you. She's a kind kahuna, deep down."

"Wait, she is the kahuna?" Ash gasps in surprise. "That's so cool."

"Though I wonder how would the trials here in Akala Island is going to be..." Lillie says.

Kukui nods and says, "There are three trials here on Akala Island. If you two decide you want to take on the trial straightaway, head up Route 4 there and keep on goin' until you get to Paniola Town."

"Shoots, I know where I'm going first, and that is straight to the Pokémon Center!" Hau says. "I wonder what kind of malasada they make on Akala, eh?"

Lillie turns to Ash, "Maybe I'll see about some shopping of my own... And I should find out about the ruins for Nebby's sake, too..."

"Then I'll come with you as well." Ash says as they bid farewell to the Professor.

Here is a new chapter, I decide to make Golly one of the contestants of the Island Festival that both Ash and Lillie managed to host and created, not only that I will also try to add some past companions in the story as well. And this marks the beginning of the Akala Arc. Ash and Lillie have finally met Mallow and Olivia for the first time, and what will happen to them in this island?
