Everything went wrong the next night. Smoke was billowing everywhere, with Illya next to the cloud of smoke while on her knees trying to catch her breath. Miyu, Luvia, and Rin were injured and bleeding while facing Illya's direction several feet away. Miyu was holding Sapphire in a defensive stance. Haru, on the other hand, was currently lying on his side, and Illya was looking right at him.
He was trying to heal his bleeding and broken right leg with Amethyst's regeneration along with some Healing Magecraft through his Magic Crest. Both Haru and Miyu were thinking about what just happened. Around them, all was a crater with Miyu, Luvia, and Rin on a slope with the only piece of ground broken apart. Haru was in the lower end of the hole while Illya was in the center of it. Seeing the destruction around them, there was no doubt in Miyu's and Haru's mind that Illya caused this.
Although Haru was the only one who truly knew how Illya caused the explosion that made the crater. It was only a few minutes ago when all five of them were transported into the Mirror World. They were all in the forest and were trying to figure out where the next enemy was.
Luvia: "What is the meaning of this? There's no sign of the enemy or the card. It's completely deserted."
Illya: "Did we come to the wrong place?"
Rin: "Such a thing can't even happen. In the first place, the Mirror World is our world's reflection. This space doesn't exist on its own. Because of the way it exists, there's no way there isn't a card here."
Haru: "Which is why we need to be ready for anything since the Heroic Spirit could be anywhere. Remind me again on what remaining classes are left, Amethyst?"
Amethyst: "The Assassin class and the Berserker class are the remaining two, Haru-sama."
Haru: "Both could be bad considering the restricted space we have here. From the looks of it, we have limited chances for movement."
Hearing that they have less room to move around made Illya look up towards the sky. It looked as if the ceiling of the Mirror World had gotten lower.
Illya: "Now that you mention it, doesn't this space seem smaller this time?"
Rin: "That proves our job of recovering the cards is reducing the distortion. Initially, the Mirror World has a few kilometers radius with us at the center."
Illya then begins to look around with a small amount of nervousness.
Illya: "In any case, will we be able to find it by just walking around..."
Ruby: "Mmm. It's a bit dull... Let's act more like magical girls. We should explore by reducing it to nothing with a really flashy lyrical grade magical blast."
Illya: "That's not exploration; it's just plain destruction..."
Haru: "While that plan could work, it also has its drawbacks. If the enemy isn't aware of us yet, then we would lose the element of surprise."
Amethyst: "But the enemy would lose it as well if we destroyed everything. However, the enemy could also catch us off guard while we cleared the forest. I suggest we stick with Rin-san's plan and just keep moving."
All five of them begin to move deeper into the forest. Illya and Rin went further away from Haru in one direction, while Miyu and Luvia moved in the opposite direction. At the same time, Haru stayed in the center to cover them both.
Ruby: "We really need a lyrical radical genocide right now."
Illya: "Just what is that..."
Before Illya could question Ruby on what she was talking about, something moved behind a few trees near her location. She turned her head in that direction. Rin noticed that Illya seemed distracted by something. Haru, on the other hand, looked towards where Illya was looking with suspicion.
Rin: "What's wrong, Illya?"
Illya: "Was it just my imagination...? Just now, I saw something move..."
But before anyone could react, a dagger was thrown and struck Illya's neck. Luckily it didn't do any damage aside from a small scratch thanks to Ruby's physical barrier. The weapon fell to the ground right as Haru rushed to Illya's side as she ducked down in a panic. The others looked in the direction where the attack came from.
Haru: "Illya!"
Rin: "When..."
Luvia: "Miyu!"
Miyu responds by raising Sapphire and sending a blast of Magical Energy in that direction.
Miyu: "Shoot!"
Miyu's attack clears the bushes and several trees. Still, there was no blood or anything, indicating that her blast didn't hit the enemy.
Miyu: "Not there..!"
Illya let out a small gasp of pain, causing Miyu to look in her direction as Rin quickly approached Illya in a panic. Haru was still by her side with a concerned look. He had no doubt they were facing an Assassin class since he read about the Presence Concealment skill, which the class was well known for.
Rin: "Illya!"
Ruby: "It's alright since the physical barrier worked! It's just a small puncture!"
Miyu let out a sigh of relief while Haru started looking around them so he could maybe catch any signs for more attacks. Then Luvia signaled for Miyu to join her in regrouping with the others right as Illya stood back up.
Luvia: "The enemy's location is unknown... Form a circle! Watch out all around us!"
They all do as Luvia suggests, with everyone trying to be as calm as possible. However, Haru noticed that Illya was breathing harder than she should be.
Luvia: 'It has the gall to launch a surprise attack on us!"
Rin: "It attacked us, and I can't feel its presence at all! It's aiming for our vital points... Don't let your guard down! One mistake and you're dead!"
The mere mention of the possibility of anyone dying caused Illya to freeze for a brief moment. Their tight formation covered them all with no blind spot, thanks to the way they gathered together. They would have been able to deal with attacks from any angle... as long as it was from a single enemy. But that wasn't the case at all. Over a few dozen enemies walked out of cover from the trees and bushes.
All of them were cloaked figures with skull-like masks. Haru bit his tongue in frustration at the same time everyone else realized what this meant. They were utterly outnumbered and in a terrible situation that could easily result from all of them dying a meaningless end.
Sapphire: "The enemy has appeared! Their numbers... exceed 50!"
Miyu: "No way...!"
Luvia: "Is this a joke...!? We're surrounded!"
Rin: "What cheaters! I didn't hear anything about an army!"
Haru: "This is very bad."
Amethyst: "Yes, we all need to run."
All five of them tensed up as they saw every one of the Assassin's ready daggers to throw at them. They all begin to run in one direction in the hopes of getting away.
Rin: "Don't stop moving! We'll turn into targets! Break right through their formation! Concentrate your firepower on one point! Illya! Miyu! Haru!"
Miyu: "Right!"
Haru: "Of course!"
Rin didn't hear a response from Illya, which immediately concerned both her and Haru.
Rin/Haru: "Illya?"
So as they ran, Haru and Rin turned their heads in her direction. They then saw Illya on her knees with shaking limbs. Without any hesitation, Haru turned around and used Reinforcement Magecraft to increase his speed and allow him to reach Illya in a matter of seconds.
Rin:/Haru: "Illya!?"
Illya: "My... my body... It won't move!"
Ruby: "There's an abnormality in the flow of Magical Energy...!? I can't raise the physical barrier!"
Rin developed a shocked look of realization right as Haru wrapped an arm around Illya in the hopes of getting her to stand up.
Rin: "Don't tell me just then..."
Right as Rin realized that Illya was poisoned from the dagger that struck her neck, all of the Assassins threw the daggers at Illya and Haru.
Miyu: "Ill..."
To Illya, it was as if everything slowed down. Her mind was racing with many different thoughts as death approached both her and her closest friend. It felt as if she was in checkmate. Rin's judgment was calm and accurate, and the current enemies didn't compare to how strong the previous ones were. It was just one factor, which was that their first move was too slow.
Just because of that, both she and Haru were going to die for sure. Illya wondered for a split second what she could do to make things better. Then she remembered what Ruby said about reducing the forest to nothing. That's it. If that was the case, then it's simple. Once again, that snapping feeling occurred inside Illya, causing a massive amount of Magical Energy to be expelled from the young girl's body.
Miyu: "Wha..."
Miyu instinctively raised Sapphire and set up a barrier to protect her along with Rin and Luvia. At the same time, Haru did his best to set up one to protect himself. The intense Magical Energy expanded and slammed into everything and everyone around Illya. A massive explosion of dirt and rubble covered the area for a moment until it cleared, revealing that the Assassins were all wiped out with the Class Card falling to the ground near Illya. Illya developed a look of pure shock when she saw the absolute destruction of her surroundings.
This time, Illya somewhat remembered what happened just now.
Illya: "What... is this...? Did I... do this...?"
Miyu: "Illya..."
Hearing a pained voice coming from Miyu caused Illya to turn her head to see Miyu holding her left arm with blood coming out of a terrible scrape. The sleeves of Miyu's dress were torn along with the skirt piece of her clothing. Luvia and Rin were in a similar state. Luvia was holding her right arm with a bloody scrape, while Rin had the least severe injuries out of the three. But then she heard Haru cry out in agony, making her heart feel heavy with dread as she turned to see his condition.
To her horror, Illya saw his obviously broken and bleeding leg as he attempted to heal himself.
Illya: "Haru... Blood... I..."
Illya froze and stopped speaking as a result. Suddenly, the memories of her fight with the Saber Heroic Spirit came to her. Even though he was injured, Haru looked at Illya with a concerned expression along with Miyu. Luckily, Haru just finished preventing any more blood loss from his damaged leg.
Miyu/Haru: "Illya...?"
Small tears began falling from Illya as she finished remembering everything.
Illya: "What... was that? Why did I... The enemy too... I dragged in Haru and the others... I... can't..."
To everyone else's surprise, the Magic Circle, which allows one to move between the Mirror world and the real world, appeared below Illya. Haru instinctively made one for himself, which surprised the other three people even more.
Miyu: "Illya! Haru!"
Haru: "Wait... Don't go, Illya!"
Illya: "No more!"
With that, Illya vanished.
Haru: "Dammit!"
Haru quickly followed after her. Rin, Luvia, and Miyu were almost left entirely speechless.
Miyu: "Jump...!?"
Rin/Luvia: "They... They left!?"
Rin: "What is Haru thinking, going after her with a broken leg!?"
Illya ran through the forest in the real world while Haru just began to follow his friend by flying with his wings. Even though he stopped the bleeding, his broken leg would prevent him from running after her, so flying was his only option. Although the blood that was still on his leg slowly dripped and made a small and almost unnoticeable trail.
Ruby: "Please calm down, Illya-san."
Amethyst: "Haru-sama, please be careful due to your injuries."
Haru: "Wait up, Illya! Please, just stop!"
Neither of the two children listened to their sticks. Still, Illya was also not listening to Haru as he called out to her in desperation. No, it was more like that she couldn't hear him due to her panicked state. Tears were falling down her cheeks.
Illya: "No more! I'm going... I'm going home!"
As she ran, Illya's mind was filled with nothing but fear. After all, before everything started, she was living the life of a normal human being. Then she was tricked into becoming a magical girl by Ruby. And the current situation happened all thanks to that moment. She didn't want to feel such fear and was filled with the desire to go back to her everyday life.
Illya: "I want to go back..."
Haru: "Please, Illya, just wait for one moment!"
Haru continued to chase after his friend, but the pain of his broken leg was inhibiting him from going faster.
Illya: "I want to go back. Faster. Home. I want to go back home. Faster. Even faster!"
Haru: "Illya!"
To Haru's shock, Illya completely vanished. Haru couldn't see Illya with Reinforced eyes since she wasn't even near the forest anymore.
Haru: "Ill... Illya?'
Illya was actually high up in the sky close to her home. Suffice to say, both Illya and Ruby were surprised at what just happened.
Ruby: "The sky...!? Don't tell me we teleported!? And at this distance...!"
Illya ignored Ruby as she looked for her home. When she spotted it, she started moving towards the house.
Illya: "There...!"
Meanwhile, Haru was still trying to find Illya in the forest but soon realized she wasn't near him anymore. He lets out an angry yell before laying on his side and releasing his concentration on his wings, making them disappear. As he waits for Amethyst to heal his broken leg, Haru develops a self-loathing look.
Haru: "I failed again. Except for this time, Illya has finally learned just how frightening the world of Magecraft is. I... couldn't do anything to prevent it."
Amethyst: "Haru-sama... This was bound to happen, and you know that. Right now, Illya-sama needs time to be alone for the rest of tonight. You need to focus on getting healed first before you can comfort her."
Haru: "I know... I know, Amethyst..."
Haru could feel his bone being completely remade, and luckily, Haru was able to bear through the pain. As he waited patiently, he noticed Rin, Luvia, and Miyu coming in his direction. He didn't realize he made that small blood trail, which they were able to follow. At the same time, Sella found Illya unconscious after the young girl entered the house. Illya was then held in Sella's arms as the former maid could feel Illya's temperature rising once more.
Sella: "What on earth... is going on here..."
The night went on with Sella putting Illya in bed and Haru going home after his leg was fully healed. Luvia dropped him off before heading home with Miyu, while Rin simply walked all the way to her home. Luckily, Illya's temperature went back to normal by the time it was morning. While she was getting ready for school, Haru was walking to her house with a solemn look. At the same time that Haru was almost there, Sella called out to Illya as she finished getting dressed into her uniform and packing her bag.
Sella: "Illya-san, it's about time to leave."
Illya: "Okay!"
Illya comes downstairs soon after and noticed that Shirou isn't nearby.
Illya: "Huh? Where's onii-chan?"
Sella: "He has morning exercises at the archery club today."
Illya: "So he left before me."
As Illya moved to the front door to put on her shoes, Sella looked at the young girl with a concerned look.
Sella: "Illya-san... are you alright going alone?"
Illya stands up and turns towards Sella with a smile.
Illya: "What are you talking about, Sella? Of course, I'm okay."
Right before Illya reaches the door handle, the doorbell rings, making both Illya and Sella pause.
Illya: "Somone's here? Who is it?"
Illya opens the door, and to her surprise, it was Haru that was waiting at her door. The young boy paused when Illya answered and developed an awkward smile.
Illya: "Haru...?"
Haru: "Hey, Illya. Would you like to walk to school with me?"
Hearing his question made Illya pause once more before she took a glance at his right leg. To her surprise yet also to her happiness, his leg was completely fixed. She then looked at him with a smile before nodding her head.
Illya: "Sure! I would be happy to."
Illya then looked back at Sella again while keeping that smile on her face.
Illya: "It looks like there's no need to worry, Sella. I have Haru with me now. We're leaving. See you later, Sella!"
Illya then walks outside before closing the door as she and Haru begin to head to school. Sella watched with a slightly nervous look before smiling as she felt somewhat relieved that despite whatever happened the night before, Haru was still by Illya's side. Although, as the two young children walked, it was a silent walk. Neither Haru nor Illya could begin a topic with the memories of what happened the night before still fresh on their minds. It stayed that way all the way to school and even when they were sitting in their seats.
Tatsuko, Mimi, Suzuka, and Nanaki approached and tried to greet them. Although all four of them noticed their friends were acting a bit gloomy.
Tatsuko: "Hey, Illya! Hello, Haru! How are you two today!"
Both Haru and Illya were looking in the direction of the window as they gazed at the sky. However, the tone of their responses was... dull.
Illya: "Good morning, Tatsuko... Aren't the clouds pretty today..."
Haru: "Yeah... Good morning, everyone."
Tatsuko then approached Miyu, who was also sitting down.
Tatsuko: "Hey, what's with the gloomy aura! You won't survive until the class is over! Right, Miyu?"
Miyu: "Shut up. Be quiet, please..."
Haru had to fight back a chuckle from Miyu's cold comment, which made Tatsuko cry a bit. Nanaki patted Tatsuko's head in a teasing manner and letting out a laugh. At the same time, Suzuka and Mimi watched with bemused expressions.
Tatsuko: "Goddamnit, someone, please be kind to me!"
Nanaki: "Hahaha, you maggot."
Suzuka: "This situation is..."
Mimi: "Yes... what is this unpleasant atmosphere?"
The four girls huddled together as they noticed the silent tension between Haru, Illya, and Miyu.
Mimi: "Maybe Illya-chan, Haru-san, and Miyu-san are having a quarrel..."
Suzuka: "Just when I feel that Miyu-san had finally opened her heart, what on earth happened?"
Tatsuko: "Damn, Miyukichi, I really thought that she began to get into a dere phase, and now she's tsun again! Is it an emotional discord between the three!? Has a confusing infatuation for other women or men started burning!?"
Nanaki: "Do you understand what you are saying?"
Haru and Illya both let out a sigh as Tatsuko's imagination went wild again. The truth was that it wasn't even a quarrel. It was just because none of them dared to face each other directly about what happened the previous night. At least not yet. Both Amethyst and Sapphire, along with their respective masters, noticed that Illya didn't seem to have any problems with her body.
Haru was simply relieved that Illya's condition was positive. Though, Miyu was having a hard time believing that Illya was okay due to the massive amount of Magical Energy that she let out before. She was trying to understand why Illya had such power while Haru knew the source of it, but he still wasn't going to tell anyone. Although both of them knew that wasn't the main issue. Instead, it was how Illya was going to handle her lessening conviction to fight.
As the day goes on, Illya remembered her conversation with Sella. It was after Illya woke up in the middle of the night while recovering, so Sella took the time to ask Illya about what happened while Illya was outside in the young girl's bedroom. But Illya was uncooperative.
Sella: "No matter what... you won't tell me what happened?"
Illya: "I'm sorry..."
Sella stayed quiet for a moment and wondered if it was a good idea to tell Illya that she knew everything the girl was doing. But she decided against it and figured that it would be best if Illya opened up and revealed the truth herself instead. But the situation that Illya was in was becoming quite vexing for the Einzbern maid.
Sella: "I don't mean to reproach you. But even so, we are given the task of taking care of you while your parents are away. I can't just give my approval on you leaving at night while you won't tell me why."
Illya: "I won't do it again!
Hearing Illya practically shout those words while looking somewhat frightened made Sella feel concerned yet somewhat relieved in seeing that Illya seemed to be telling the truth. However, her concern outweighed her feelings of relief.
Sella: "So it's okay for me to believe in you, yes?"
Illya: "I won't do it again. I won't go out at night anymore. Today... will be the last."
Those words would be repeated many times in Illya's mind as she went through her classes. At the same time, Haru remembered the conversation he had with his own mother. He regretted telling her only a half-truth on what happened the night before. Still, he couldn't risk revealing the truth about Illya. The day goes on with school coming to an end for the day.
As Haru was leaving, he noticed Illya holding a bamboo piece and what looks like a letter inserted into it. He had an idea of what she was doing, so he decided to follow her as she left the campus. Miyu joined him in following Illya, and eventually, they saw she was meeting up with Rin. They were just close enough to hear Rin and Illya talk but not close enough to where Illya would notice them behind her.
Rin: "Last night, you suddenly fled. And this time, what is that?"
Illya raised the bamboo stick so the letter would be within reach for Rin.
Illya: "My resignation letter."
Rin takes the letter with an indifferent expression.
Rin: "Well... I thought it would turn out like this, though."
Illya then drops the bamboo stick and avoids eye contact with the older girl.
Illya: "Um... at first... the truth is... it was only just out of curiosity... I thought it was just for fun. But... later, I learned my lesson because of my softness."
Hearing the defeated tone of his best friend made Haru clench his fist while feeling nothing but self-loathing towards himself. He was both equally irritated and relieved that Illya no longer felt the need to help fight with them. The irritating was because Illya had to go through those life and death scenarios to give up. On the other hand, the feeling of relief was because Illya would now be out of harm's way and longer had to risk her life.
Illya: "The assignment was called being a magical girl, but was actually just a fight for survival. I experienced it twice when I nearly lost my life. After it turned out like this, what Miyu said has really stuck in my heart. To me... I don't have the readiness or reason to fight. I don't want to... fight again."
Hearing Illya's reasoning had Rin develop a look of understanding, but the older girl did have one thing to ask Illya.
Rin: "One more thing... I want to confirm this. Last night... what you did, did you do that of your own free will?"
Rin's question made Illya freeze as the memory of what happened that night came back. And, of course, the memory of seeing Haru's broken leg also returned. Haru, on the other hand, was resisting the desire to give Rin the harshest glare he could for asking Illya that question. Illya then began to deny that with her voice shaking intensely.
Illya: "No, it wasn't! That was... There's no way I could do such a thing! It must be Ruby who..."
Ruby: "I don't have any attacking abilities, myself. As long as my master doesn't even swing me, even a Magical Energy cannon won't come out. That explosion last night... is no doubt your power, Illya-san."
Illya started shaking as her denial continued. She couldn't believe that she could do such a thing. To accept that means to admit that it was she who hurt everyone, especially Haru. She refused to believe it.
Illya: "That can't be... be-because I'm a normal girl...! Such an explosion..."
Seeing Illya in such an emotional state made Haru attempt to walk up to her, but Miyu stopped him and shook her head. He gritted his teeth as he knew that Rin needed to relieve Illya of her duties first before talking to her about it.
Rin: "Understood, I will accept your resignation."
Rin's acceptance surprised Illya as the younger girl looked up to her with a somewhat hopeful look.
Illya: "Is it okay?"
Rin: "Well, it was us any way that pressured you for cooperation. I knew it was kind of unreasonable to let a Middle School kid fight in my place..."
Rin then looked directly at Ruby with a determined expression.
Rin: "Isn't it enough, Ruby? Stop this foolishness. Register me back as your master!"
Ruby: "No, can do! I alone will decide my master!"
In response, Rin grabbed Ruby and started pulling the Kaleidostick in frustration. At the same time, Haru glared at Ruby since she wasn't making things easy for them. Then Rin threw Ruby towards the ground, making the stick let out a yelp from the older girl's violent actions.
Rin: "Oh well. We only have one card left anyway. You and I will go back to London once this card hunting is done. Then it will all be over. It won't ever involve Illya again."
Rin then focused her attention solely on Illya once more.
Rin: "We didn't have an official contract from the start. But I will tell you this just in case. Illyasviel. I relieve you from our partnership. You did great. Now you don't have to fight anymore, and you don't have to listen to my orders. Forget all the things that happened until today and live your life. Nothing good comes from normal girls becoming involved with the side of the world I live in. You can just think they were all dreams. You should go back to your everyday life."
Illya initially thought that every one of those words coming from Rin would make her feel relieved. Yet, for some reason that she couldn't figure out, Rin's words felt like they made Illya's heart hurt. She couldn't figure out why it felt wrong for her to be backing out with just one Class Card left to hunt.
Rin: "Well... it's just as you both saw. Are you two okay with it? Miyu and Haru..."
Hearing Rin speaking as if those two were there made Illya turn around in surprise to see that they actually were right behind her. Haru simply nodded his head with a neutral face to express that he was okay with Illya leaving the fight while Miyu verbally declared her answer.
Miyu: "Yes..."
Illya: "Mi-Miyu... Haru..."
Miyu walks past Illya while Haru simply walks up to her and stays by her side.
Miyu: "It's no problem. Haru and I will get the last card ourselves."
Rin: "Is that so..."
Rin turned around and began walking away with Miyu following her. However, Miyu stopped for a moment and turned her look Illya in the eyes.
Miyu: "It turned out... to be just as I told you. You don't have to fight anymore. The rest of it... Haru and I will end it..."
Miyu then turns back and walks away with Rin. Illya and Haru continue to watch them until neither were visible. Illya was still struggling with the feeling that she was doing something wrong until she noticed something that shocked her as she turned to look at Haru. She saw that her best friend was crying. The tears weren't small streams or anything like that, but instead, just small drips coming out of his eyes.
Illya: "H-Haru...? Why... are you crying?"
Haru looks at her before turning to face Illya. Ruby perched herself on Illya's shoulder while Amethyst was simply floating near Haru's head. But then Haru pulled Illya into a hug with his arms wrapped around her, surprising the girl as she lets out a small squeak. Illya started blushing a bit as the young girl really wasn't expecting this from Haru. Although soon, her blushing stopped as she heard and felt Haru crying into her shoulder.
Illya: "Haru...?"
Ruby was staying quiet as she could tell this wasn't the time to tease them, while Amethyst stayed quiet as she knew that her master needed this for some form of closure.
Haru: "I... I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..."
Illya: "W-why...? You didn't do anything wrong."
He let go of to look at her in the eyes. His face showing nothing but regret.
Haru: "I could have prevented this, Illya. I could have prevented you from experiencing those life and death situations. I could have done something like grabbing Ruby when she wasn't expecting it and maybe lock her up."
Ruby: "Well, that would have been very rude."
Amethyst: "Please be quiet, nee-san. Let my master speak."
Haru: "But I didn't. I just let everything happen with the hope that I could keep you safe."
Haru then looked down at his feet while keeping his look of regret.
Haru: "I'm a failure as a friend."
Haru would have said more, but this time, it was Illya who hugged him.
Illya: "You are not a failure, Haru. The last two fights were terrifying, but some of the experiences I had as a magical girl were actually fun. And I had you helping me along the way. You stayed with me when I had that fever, you kept me as safe as you could during those fights, and you've always been there for me as a friend before this whole situation with the Class Cards."
She lets go of Haru so he could see her smiling at him.
Illya: "You were my best friend then, and you are my best friend now. That will never change. So please, don't cry."
With that request, she wiped his tears off his face while still smiling at him. Seeing his friend's smile made him give one of his own.
Haru: "Thanks, Illya. I guess I needed that."
Illya: "That's what friends are for, Haru. So um... are you heading with Rin and Miyu to get ready for a fight with the last card?"
Her question was out of concern for his safety, and Haru picked up on that. In response, he gave Illya another hug before smiling and backing away.
Haru: "I am. But don't worry, Illya. Miyu and I will take care of this last one as soon as possible, and then you and I can just go back to having regular school lives. After this, the only thing we will have to worry about is homework and tests. Just do me a favor and look forward to it, okay?"
Hearing him say that with confidence allowed Illya to smile again as she nodded her head in agreement. Although her heart still feels heavy since she felt it was wrong to leave everything to Haru and Miyu.
Illya: "I will look forward to it. Good luck, Haru."
With that out of the way, Haru started leaving. However, he did give Illya a wave of goodbye as he headed in the direction of Rin and Miyu. She watched with a smile and worry as she hoped that everyone else would leave the next fight victorious and mostly uninjured. Although the two friends shared a single thought in their minds, and that thought was maybe after this next fight, they would confess their feelings to the other person. The day then went on until it was finally night with Haru joining the others on top of the building where the last Class Card was located.
Rin: "Okay... are you both ready?"
Haru and Miyu looked at each other and nodded their heads with determination in their eyes.
Haru: "Yes... we are ready."
Rin and Luvia accepted those words with their own determination as they steeled themselves for the next battle.
Rin: "Let's begin... the final battle!"
If only they knew in advance that this next battle would be the hardest they would fight so far; then they would have waited and made more preparations. They would soon learn as they prepared to jump into the Mirror World.
