Albus Dumbledore is having a horrible day. First the ministry won't leave him alone. Bagnold insists of taking his opinion on every important matter these days.
It takes away his time away from school. As much as he would like to focus on the school matters, he knows that the ministry needs his guidance too. After all they have to re-establish the society where they live.
Then he comes back to school to find out that his deputy headmistress is missing from the school.
"Albus do you know where Minerva is? I can't find her anywhere in the castle." Professor Sprouts asks him.
"Minerva should be in her office or in class, Pomona," he replies her.
"That's the thing,Albus. I have looked everywhere in the castle. She is nowhere to be found. She neither in her office or in any of the classroom. She is also not in her chambers or the common room as well as the staff room," she tells him.
Albus frowns hearing her talk. That doesn't sound like Minerva at all.
"Have you checked the library and the hospital wing? He asks her.
"We did, she replies.
"Very well, thank you for bringing the matter to my notice, Pomona. I will take over the matter now," he tells her.
Professor Sprouts gives him a nod and takes her leave from there.
When Albus enters his office he finds a letter written to him by Minerva.
Albus
By the time you find this letter, I am going to be well out of the country. I am resigning from my post as a staff of Hogwarts effective immediately. I have already talked someone to take over for me for the remaining term then you are free to hire anyone you want after the winter break is over.
I am sure you must be wondering why I have taken such a huge step. I am going to be honest with you, I don't agree with you about leaving Harry with Petunia. He is never going to be happy in that house. That is why Remus and I are taking Harry away from them as well as the country. We are going to raise him on our own just the way James and Lily wanted us to do. We have officially taken his custody. Don't try to find us. you wouldn't be able to find us.
I am sorry that we had to part this wah, Albus. As much as I enjoy teaching at Hogwarts, Harry is my first priority. James and Lily wanted us to take care of him and I am not going to let them down.
Take care of yourself and the school. I will you again when the time comes.
Minerva Mcgonagall
Deputy headmistress of Hogwarts.
Albus is shocked that Minerva would take such a huge step without consulting with him or without his knowledge.
He checks his instruments that he had set up to monitor Harry at Privet Drive. Everyone single one of the is dead. Minerva has indeed taken him away. He decides to go to and check the wards around the house himself.
He floos to Mrs. Figgs's house and walks towards number 4. As he gets near the house he can clearly see that the wards he has set up around the house is dead. He wonders if it's worth talking to Petunia about Harry. He decides to take the risk.
He knocks at the door and waits for Petunia to open. Petunia opens the door and take a look at him and shuts the door at on his face.
Albus did not expect such a reaction. He knocks again and wait. This time Petunia does interact with him.
"What do you want from me? The boy is gone," she asks him.
"I just want to ask you something.do you have any idea where Minerva and Remus has taken Harry?" He asks her.
"No, I don't know where they took the boy with them," she answers and tries to close the door again.
Albus stops her "Petunia, just answer my questions and then I will be out of your hair."
"Very well, be quick," she tells him.
"When did they take Harry away from here?" He asks her.
"Last night," she promptly replies.
So they came after the funeral to take him away, Albus thinks go himself.
"One last question and then I will leave you alone. Why did you hand over the custody to them?" He asks her.
"Isn't it obvious to you? I didn't want the boy. He was not needed here," She replies.
"He is your family," he tells her.
"He is no family of mine," she tells him and bangs the door at his face again.
"This isn't good," Albus sighs. How can Petunia talk about her family like that?
He then remembers that he saw Minerva and Remus interact with Amelia in hushed voices yesterday.
"Did Amelia had a role in it?" He asks himself. He then decides to go pay her a visit just in case.
Amelia"s secretary shows him the way into her office. Amelia is already waiting for him there.
"Albus, how can I help you?" she asks him.
"Amelia, do you know anything about about Harry being with Minerva and Remus? he straightway asks her.
"As a matter of fact, I do know about it. I helped Minerva get custody to Harry after all," she replies.
"Why would you do that?" he asks her.
"Minerva came to me for help. I used my influence in the ministry to get her the custody. The goblins helped too," she replies.
"How did she get the custody and where are they? He asks urgently.
"I am sorry, Albus. I can't tell you that. The information is stored in a need to know basis and Minerva has explicitly stated that you are not privacy of the information," she informs him.
The very fact that Minerva didn't trust him hurts Albus. He thought they trusted each other.
"Surely there must be a way where I can access the information," he probes.
"Albus, there is nothing that you can do about it. Harry Potter is right where he belongs," she firmly tells him.
"Harry should be with Petunia, his family. That's the only save place for him," he insists with her.
"Petunia doesn't have any right on Harry. James and Lily's will clearly stated Minerva and Remus as potential guardians. They were granted the custody in accordance to the Potter's will," she firmly responds.
"That may be what the Potter's wanted but the magical society is not the place for Harry to be in right now. The muggle world is much safer for him. He is going to be much more safer with Petunia," he explains.
"Albus, do you know Petunia was abusing Harry?" she asks him, clearly offended by the explanation.
"What?" He is blaffed by the information.
"Yes, Albus, abuse. Harry was with them for three days and he was already abused. What's makes you think that he would be safer with them rather than with Minerva and Remus?" She questions him.
"How do you know that?" He questions her. It isn't making any sense to him. Family protect each other.
"Minerva and Remus took him to see a healer before going out of the country. They sent a report to me before leaving. They want to press charges against them both in muggle and magical world," she replies.
Albus process the information. He can't believe that such a thing would have happen to Harry from Petunia while on his watch.
He needs time to process things so he bids a farewell to Amelia and returns to his office.
As he sits and things over things he can't help but focus on how Minerva orchestrated the whole thing without talking to him
"I wish you would have talked to me about it once, Minerva. I am not an enemy. I just want Harry to be safe," he mutters.
He can only hope that Minerva has not made a mistake and try to find them.
