Chapter 7
Jenny shot the two males in front of her a hard look while using the feel of Milo's tail hitting against her leg to comfort her. She could not believe what she had just blurted out, if she had been back home with her family then she would of gotten told off for sure, it was not how a protector of the law should act. Staring at the duo she used all of the skills she had gained with the forced training that Milo and herself had been forced to endure before they had made a break for it to weigh up the pair.
They were both Pokémon trainers but it was easy to see that the pair was at different stages of their journey. The older one had a harder look in his eyes, as if to say that he had been travelling for an eternity and had yet to find a place to belong while holding a lot of emotional and mental baggage that he was not willing to share. Jenny found herself curious to what Pokémon he had on him and what sort of stories he might tell during their nights around the campfire as they camped out under the stars. The other male through seemed the almost to be the polar opposite of the elder trainer, while his black eyes shone with the well known innocence, excitement and the need for adventure they held several hidden secrets that seemed as if she would not know about any time soon. His clothes, much like her own, was clean compared to seasoned trainers and the Pikachu that was perched on his shoulder, while it looked happy and clearly it had bonded well to the young trainer still had many mysterious of its own.
"The three of you hold so many mysterious' that it is just calling out for me to solve them! Which is why I will be travelling with you," Jenny said with a proud grin on her face while purposely ignoring the put out look on the older trainer and the confused look on the younger trainer. "In fact...Ash was it?...why do we not celebrate our meeting and the start of our journey by holding a Pokémon battle right here, right now?!"
"Good idea, everyone needs experience in their chosen field, and everyone who is going on a Pokémon journey needs to know how to protect themselves," Red said as he felt the two new Pokémon trainer's eyes land on him. Through when Jenny spotted the raised eyebrow and pointed look aimed at her by Red, and several of what seemed to be the more seasoned trainers thoughts began to run around in the back of her mind. "But I do not think that this is the correct time or place to carry out the battle, especially if since it will obliviously be the first of many Pokémon battles for you both."
"And why not? I have seen other Pokémon trainers battling against each other and wild Pokémon on this boat!" Jenny stated angrily as she placed her hands on her hips and puffed out her checks. "I do not see why we cannot battle for!"
"You have a fire type Pokémon and Ash here has an electric type Pokémon," Red deadpanned causing Jenny's frown to deepen. "If any of the attacks where to hit this boat or land in the ocean then it could cause major problems, for example it might make this boat sink."
"Oh," Jenny simply said as she felt her fighting spirit simmer down slightly thanks to the logical reason that Red provided. "Thank you for exampling it to me properly and not just-"
"Whatever!" Red snorted as he grabbed Ash by the wrist and began to pull Ash along causing the younger trainer to stumble after him. "Come on Ash, let's find out where we will be staying, depending on the travelling conditions we will not be arriving in New Bark Town for at least a day or two."
"Okay," Ash replied glancing worriedly at Jenny which only caused the female trainer to break out of her shock.
"Hey! Wait a moment!" Jenny shouted out, her arm reached out to grab one of the two males only for Red to easily dodge her hand, bringing Ash with him within his movements in an almost dance like movement. "I have a room that is big enough for all three of us! We can share."
"No we can't, your female, were male plus I know from travelling on this ship in the past that you can either get a single or double room only," Red snapped, unknowingly channelling the cold atmosphere around him that he would normally give off to people back home. "Plus I refuse to have anything to do with fan girls so you can forget travelling with us."
"Sorry, Red really does not seem to like other people much," Ash said quickly and apologetic as he was pulled around the corner of the ship leaving a speechless Jenny in their wake.
"Does not like other people my arse," Jenny snapped out angrily causing Milo to yip in agreement. "And what does he mean by Red not liking fan girls? Whatever the reason is we are not going to let something like this get in the way of bonding with our new travelling companions, right Milo? How about we follow them, after all we are not the type to give up!"
Grinning confidently down at her Pokémon Partner who gave a nod of agreement. Together they turned as one and began to run after the pair, using their training to dodge the mixture of humans and Pokémon in their way. Coming to the corner where Red and Ash had disappeared only seconds ago Jenny pushed her feet to the side at an angel that was mirrored by her Growlithe to continue running at full speed around the corner only to find herself colliding with a muscled male chest.
"Owe, man that hurt," Jenny muttered with a wince as she rubbed her chest while Milo did his best to check her over. "What on Earth have you been eating? Stones? Metal?"
"What was that little girl," a sneering male voice asked causing Jenny to freeze. The male's words were finished by a frosty cold woman's voice. "It looks like the little girl thinks she is too good to look where she is going. My, what horrible manners she has, does she not know who we are?"
With a mixture of fear and reflex Jenny's left hand went to where she had kept the hip bag that had held her training handcuffs when she was training with her mother while fear plastered on her face when she realised it was missing along with two big capital red R's on the adult's tops.
"What do you think we should do with her?" the male asked with a smirk causing Milo to growl angrily as he stood protectively in between his human and the threat. "Ahhhhhh, how cute, a puppy trying to protect its trainer."
"Maybe we should throw them over board and watch what happens?" the female suggested causing Jenny's mind to go blank. "Or how about we try out the Professor's new mind erasing machine to turn her into one of ours? After all we could always use new Grunts."
"Yeah and after what happened with the machine, Jessie and James I want to see what changes the Professor has done," the male chuckled darkly causing Jenny to scramble backwards a few inches. "I wonder what happened with those two idiots brains...oh well, get ready to become one of us little girl."
"NO!" Jenny shouted out as loud as she could, hoping to get some sort of attention. "I am not coming with you! I will not become a Grunt! I want nothing to do with either of you or this Professor or whoever you work for!"
Twin frowns made their way to the adult's faces at Jenny's words. The woman's mouth turned into an angry sneer as she opened her mouth to speak only to stop when a familiar fingerless black gloved covered hand was placed on both of the adult's shoulders. Following the hand on each adult's shoulder up the arms to the shoulders and finally to the face Jenny felt a bubble of hope within her grow as she came face to face with Red's familiar cold face.
"You heard the girl; she wants nothing to do with either of you. Besides she is travelling with me," Red snarled out as the two in his hold froze and stood stone still. The fear on their faces only increased as Red roughly pulled them around to face him, his eyes now glowing with rage and power causing twin whimpers to come from them. "But you can come with me and tell me all about this machine, Professor, Jessie and James. Did you know that back in the old days Jessie, James and I use to know each other very well? In fact we used to be travelling partners."
"NO, it can't be," the woman whispered throwing Jenny's emotions for a loop; it looked like the tables had been turned. "It...it can't be you can it...I thought that you were...I thought that we..."
Red's hands tightened causing the pair to wince in pain as he leaned closer to the pair and darkly said, "You should that you had kidnapped my travelling companions and left me for dead didn't you?"
