Author's posting note. . . When I initially viewed the first few RWBY seasons, I was enthused with ideas and this story just easily flowed. However, beginning with season 4, I just lost all interest as RWBY no longer seemed to be entertaining. For the past 3 years I've mostly been making editing changes to what I wrote in that first flush of excitement over the story. I'm done.

Prologue
For some unknown reason, it was Zeus's turn to host the millennial party this era and random deities were showing up from all across the multi-universe. Most of them had a few things in common, the most troubling being just plain boredom. After all, when you've seen multiple stars coalesce, burn brightly then die while watching all the various civilizations rise, flourish (sometimes) then fall across a literal galaxy of planets, well . . . anything new is attention grabbing.
In this case, it was the easily bored Urd, Norse goddess of the past who had noticed an interesting (to her at least) anime while spying on her sister's boyfriend. That's how bored she was at the party. Out of curiosity, she had used her remote connection to Yggdrasil to scan all of existence to see if there actually was a reality matching the cartoon. Thankfully (for this story) there was. Her squeal of excitement brought over three other goddesses to peer over her shoulder. (No way in whatever were any gods going anywhere near what had caused her to squeal like that, not now, not ever . . . again, twice was enough thank you very much.)
Urd excitedly explained what she'd found and it did pique the interest of the other three and all four goddesses rummaged through the anime/story universes and their alternate timelines and located potential heroes. Since they were goddesses, they chose timelines where their chosen 'hero' was about to be violently terminated and removed him from that reality (a sort of 'good' deed that didn't add damage to a timeline but saved the hero). Each goddess gave her 'hero' a synopsis of the world he was now in (instead of being dead they emphasized), healed him, gave a language update and handed him a wallet with money and ID. Each goddess then kissed their 'hero' to gift him with her chosen semblance and activate his aura before handing him an acceptance letter to Beacon and then leaving him at the entrance to the academy.
Returning to the party, the four goddesses immediately conjured a large viewing window, sat down on a large sofa and began nibbling on a huge bucket of popcorn that Urd conjured as they waited for the show to 'start'; eager to see what would come up now that they had rolled these particular dice. Urd giggled and ran the opening soundtrack and initial trailers from the original anime that had started this whole endeavor. Behind them other deities drifted over to see what had caught their attention.

Scarlet trailer
Ranma crouched down as he dropped to the earth abruptly. Just mere heartbeats before, he had been in battle; he had defeated the demigod Saffron twice. First shredding his mortal body with an improvised high level martial arts move before destroying the killer's soul capsule (in egg form) with a mallet charged with his own life energies. He had expected to die. He hoped to die to be with his lost ones. He was not surprised that he didn't as he expected to be punished for failing his martial arts code and deliberately taking a life.
Ranma glanced around himself seeing nothing except a scattered trees bordering an apparently little used pathway. Carefully exploring further revealed a sign that said 'Oniyuri' just as the ruins of a heavily damaged village became visible beyond the trees. The village's appearance was a bit odd as it seemed to have been abandoned prior to being completed. He made his way into the partially built village becomingly increasingly uneasy. Feline shadows with red glaring eyes brought back memories of a pit.
As the unknown creatures charged him, Ranma categorized his foes. Solid black fur offset by white bone plating on the face, hip/shoulder joints and chest and a superficial feline appearance from ears to tail. About thirty of the creatures were circling him as he perched on the remains of a fountain. Ranma glared at them almost feeling hatred though he was a bit surprised to realize that his normal fear of cats seemed to be gone. He clenched his fists in anger and was momentarily startled when three glowing claws, each a foot long, appeared from between his knuckles.
With a yell of almost inarticulate rage, Ranma fired twin chi blasts slightly to the left and right of his position thus isolating the ten creatures in front of him from the rest. He charged them, becoming airborne just before he reached them and began to slice them to ribbons from the rear before they could even turn around.
As he finished he saw the remaining twenty charge him and for once he really wished he had a sword or some other weapon so he had more distance between him and his prey. Once again he was startled as the claws coalesced into a meter long katana of glowing translucent chi in each hand. With a near feral grin, Ranma charged into battle moving so fast that he nearly left afterimages.
Ranma almost thought the battle was over but changed his mind when he was nearly blindsided by three large bear like creatures. He momentarily avoided them by leaping on top of a heavily damaged two-story home. Once again the creatures were black with white bony skull and spine spikes but strongly resembled bears. The two to the left and right were merely huge, the center one was monstrous. As the creatures proceeded to destroy the home, Ranma almost casually destroyed them by throwing the katanas into the skulls of the smaller two, nailing their brains, right between the eyes before both chi constructs exploded removing the heads completely. The largest one got a more personal touch, the 'breaking point' right between the eyes, removing the head and most of the chest as well. Bone plating was no defense against that technique it seems.
Faint clapping caught Ranma's attention to a beautiful maiden standing to the side. She softly said, "Well done, chosen champion. You have defended your future home very well."
He stared at her in shock before he whispered, "I remember you. You said the Saffron deserved to die just as you saved me." Ranma blushed and added, "And then you kissed me and there was this explosion of light and I was healed and . . . I was here, I thought it was a dream."
"No," she said, "it was all real including the fact that you did momentarily die in your original world. I am a goddess but not one you've ever heard of before but I thought you might like a chance to have your own life without your father and rivals messing it up. I know a boring life would be a disaster for you so I brought you to this world to have an adventure." She grinned as she approached him, grabbed both ears and pulled him into another kiss. As she pulled back he noticed that the scenery had changed and there were other people near. She whispered, "Now you know the language and the base history of this world. Here are your papers and that is your school before us . . . bye." And she was gone and he didn't even know her name so he could protest or praise as needed.

Xander slumped against the wall, a tear making its way down his cheek from his remaining eye as he literally watched the world end. The hell-mouths had all exploded and flooded the world with evil. The slayers had been the first to be targeted . . . they were all dead now.
A beautiful woman sauntered up to him and knelt before him. "So you are one of 'the-powers-that-be' I guess?" hazarded Xander.
She softly smiled and replied, "No, I'm not one of those weak hypocrites; but since they have no idea who I am, let's just keep that part quiet for now, ok?"
"So, any chance you could fix this?" Xander asked as he waved his hand at the horrors around them.
She sighed and hesitantly admitted, "Yes, I do have the power to 'fix' all of this, BUT I do not have either the right or the necessary permission to do so." She explained, "The creator of all gifted his creations with free will and that is what binds me from changing this," as she waved her hands about her. "If it helps, this is one of the worst outcomes of this 'universe-timeline' series. In almost all other realities; you and your friends all have long lives, complete with happy endings. Well, here on this planet/timeline, this is what free will resulted in."
Xander grimaced and remarked, "Yeah, this world has definitely gone 'tits-up', so why are you here talking with me? Are you some sort of Valkyrie come to haul my soul to warrior heaven?
The unnamed goddess giggled and said, "Yes and no."
"Well, as long as you're sure," Xander interrupted.
She leaned in toward him and kissed Xander. He closed his eye both from shock and because he really was a gentleman. When she pulled away he opened both eyes and froze in shock. He had two eyes again . . . and he was healed and he felt filled with energy and power of some sort. He looked about himself and realized he was standing in the courtyard of an imposing but damaged home. At his look of confusion, the goddess volunteered, "This is your future home if you want it. This is the abandoned village of 'Oniyuri'. The reason it is abandoned is because of monsters called Grimm have overrun it before it could be completed."
Xander looked about himself nervously and she told him, "Open your eyes, not just the normal ones, but become the child of prophesy that you were called to be, become the 'one-who-sees'."
Xander closed his eyes and focused on his 'astral' eyes as Willow had tried to explain to him once. Suddenly, the process just seemed to snap into focus and he could 'see' everything in detail up to a hundred meters in all directions, including down to a lesser amount he realized. If he had had a mirror, he would have been surprised to note that as his gift manifested, his pupils had vanished, showing only 'blank' eyes.
He became aware that the goddess was holding a weapon that he was very familiar with even though this was the first time he had ever actually seen it. She handed him the normally invisible 'slayer scythe', it was now an unbreakable two-foot long monofilament edged blade on six foot handle, but his 'astral' eyes could see it now.
She walked over and handed him some documents. She then clasped her hands behind his neck, "You've got new dreams to make and more heroing to get to. Let's get you started with basic language and history so you can start your new school." She then kissed him again and when he opened his once again normal eyes, she was gone and he was elsewhere again with his invisible scythe folded to its one meter size in the holster on his back.

Harry swung the poisoned edge of Gryffindor's sword at the demon with his left hand as he used his wand to herd it with another patronus back toward the rift it had barely left. It had been summoned by Tom Riddle using his own death magic for revenge purposes. He suddenly lunged at the demon and found himself on the wrong side of the rift entrance just as it snapped shut. "Oh, shit," he muttered.
"That's an understatement if I've ever heard one," whispered a beautiful voice behind him. "Let's get us both out here, neither of us belongs here."
Harry turned around only to be grabbed and quickly kissed. He felt a huge surge of power that almost overwhelmed him as he felt all his injuries heal and more. He opened his eyes only to realize he was in some apparently abandoned auditorium. His rescuer was an Oriental maiden with laughing eyes who quickly conjured a large mirror before him. He had trouble seeing well until he removed his glasses and suddenly realized he no longer needed them.
"Did you perceive the flash of energy as we arrived?" she asked. "Part of that was transport energy but most of it was from not only healing you, but releasing the remaining bindings that had been placed on you." At his shocked expression she explained in more detail. "I healed you of all your past injuries including those that malnutrition caused and onward. In addition, there were a number of minor bindings, not only on aspects of your magical core, which had the most, but on your mind and body as well. You have the ability to morph even more so than your friend Tonks; you can even change gender, something she never managed." The goddess paused and added, "Though to be honest, I don't think she ever tried let alone ever wanted too. You can do that and you still have your animagus form of a shadow phoenix. Without the bindings on you, you will find yourself much more powerful and smarter too. I'm surprised you functioned as well as you did with your intelligence and emotions bound as they were. Somebody did not want you to have much free will." She added, "At least the primary power core binding was released when Tom's soul fragment was removed. You would not have won at the end without that happening. That also weakened the other bindings and they would have released in time but the damage would not have been healed as I just did." She hissed, "And that's in addition to all the loyalty and love potions you've had in your system at one time or another."
Harry sank to his knees as the loss and betrayal slowly sank into him. She knelt beside him and said, "I've said it before and I'll say it now. 'My sister Fate is a bitch' when she pulls this kind of crap on people. She just skirts the rules about free will somehow." She waved her hand about them and airily said, "You have a new chance, nobody manipulating you, what happens is up to you and only you now."
"I've heard that before, too." Harry said. He looked at his surroundings and asked, "Where is this that I'm supposed to start from?"
She glanced about herself and answered, "Actually, this is a school building in the incomplete and abandoned village of 'Oniyuri'." She handed him a package of documents and explained, "According to these papers, this village is your home so I thought you should at least see it. The school is actually in your name now if you ever feel inclined to do something with it. To be honest, teaching was something you really did pretty well. But let's get you started; first you need a sheath for your sword so nobody gets poisoned, then a language update, history update and a few lessons on some of your newly released abilities."
As Harry leaned forward to grasp the offered sword sheath, the goddess leant even more forward and quickly kissed him again. Harry found himself standing before a school that he now knew was named Beacon and Gryffindor's sword was sheathed across his back.

Orange trailer
Naruto's legs were paralyzed but he continued to pull himself forward, a kunai gripped in his teeth. Just as Madara was about to laughingly slice his throat, a beautiful woman appeared and instantly backhanded the murderous traitor away from Naruto.
Madara lay near the fuming Rabbit goddess as he struggled to fix his broken jaw. The stranger turned her back slightly toward them and smacked her rear tauntingly as she blew them a kiss. The meaning was clear, 'Kiss my ass losers.' Before they could respond, Urd blew them back severely injured with one of her Urd bolts. She then leaned down and gathered the injured teen in her arms and kissed him as they both vanished from that reality.
Naruto had no idea of what happened but he did know that he kind of liked the woman who had saved him. She was cooool! He stood up then froze as he realized he was healed . . . completely he quickly determined. He glanced about himself and realized he was in a village, in a rather damaged part of it from appearances. "Whew, even my old apartment was never this bad," he observed.
Urd spoke from behind him, "Well, what can you expect when monsters kill all the people who used to live in these buildings?" At his quizzical expression she pointed outside the village to a field that was visible beyond the wall. "Those are some of the weaker monsters that are found on this world. These grimm are called Beowolf and deserve no mercy for these soulless creatures exist only to kill and destroy."
Naruto bounded out to the field while Urd took a seat on the higher portion of the wall and watched. As the grimm moved to surround him, he counted about fifty or so but shrugged and proceeded to summon some clones, it was his signature trademark attack after all. Apparently the new energy that was filling him messed up his summoning as only four clones appeared. They weren't 'normal' clones either. They were actually people!
Kushina looked to her left and saw Minato, then to her right was Kurama's hybrid human form and beyond her was Naruto's girl form Naruko. She pulled a kunai from her leg holster and stabbed the fleshy part of her thigh . . . it started to bleed instead of her dispelling. The other three noticed this and smirked while Naruto fainted from shock. By the time he regained conscious, the four super pseudo-clones had completely trashed the wolf like Grimm.
Urd walked over and explained what had happened to the five of them. "Naruto, your ability to create clones has a modifier to it. Under normal circumstances, your clones come just as you expect. But if you access your new power which is called a semblance, then you will only get these four super pseudo-clones. They are soul echoes of your parents, the Kyuubi and essence of your girl side." At Naruto's puzzled look, Urd added, "You've used your 'harem' technique so often that it actually has a bit of separate existence now. But more importantly, all four clones are almost as strong and tough as you are and they will protect you at all costs."
"I don't understand," said Naruto. "I thought that the Kyuubi was removed from me . . . that was one of the reasons I was dying."
Urd nodded and explained, "I created a soul echo of the Kyuubi so her essence is still with you when you were brought here. While almost all of her chakra power was removed, she managed to anchor her soul in you so that she would not be destroyed when the Juubi was recreated. In time all of her power will be restored, both yin and yang. This echo allows her soul to exist in this dimension."
Urd sighed and continued, "Well, let's get you settled into your new life."
"Noooo," yelled Naruto. "Send me back so I can win!"
Urd's response was an Urd bolt to the ground which blew him off his feet. The four clones sat on the ground to the side to watch their lovable idiot do his thing again. She walked over and stood face to face as he dusted himself off. "The ONLY reason I was allowed to save your life was because I removed you from that reality. If for ANY reason you go back, you are INSTANTLY dead! Are we clear?"
Naruto nodded, but couldn't help the tears on his face, "Why couldn't you save the others too before they died?" He asked in a somewhat broken voice.
She embraced him and softly answered, "If I was allowed to, I would have done so. I may be powerful, but there are those over me who are much more powerful and I cannot disobey their rules. One of the most important rules is about free will. I can't chose or change what you or the others chose and want to do. Good or bad, mistake or not, it was your world's collective decision and not something I'm allowed to 'fix' no matter how much I might want to do so. Despite how bad your particular reality turned out, it got that way due to free will."
She handed him a package of documents and explained, "This is your ID and it says you are from this village." She pointed to the ruins behind them and explained, "This is 'Oniyuri', it was once a nice village even though it was actually never completed and it can be a good home once the monsters are gone. There is room for you to create a clan compound should you chose to do so." She sighed and added, "All that is needed is for you to go to school and meet your team."
Naruto shuddered, "School?" The depression was almost visible. The four clones sighed and dispersed. Naruto absently noted that he did not receive their memories.
Urd laughed, she then hugged him and before he could escape, she kissed him. She gave him a history of Remnant and the necessary language skills. Naruto heard her whisper, "Prank the world." He opened his eyes and found him facing one of his nightmares . . . school.

Ranma, Alexander, Harry and Naruto looked at each other, back at their surroundings, and then each other again before sighing as their shoulders slumped. Somewhere in the distance, they thought they heard someone yell, 'go team RAHN' (rain). And so it starts.

Chapter 1 . . . Toss them bones . . .
Hearing an explosion and yelling behind them, the 'heroes' turned and saw a younger girl dressed in black and red sitting on the ground while a girl of about their same apparent age was doing the yelling as she banished dust soot off her white apparel. (The goddesses had 'adjusted' all their ages to about 17 or less when they had healed their heroes.) Based on the background information they had been given, the two girls were recognized as Ruby Rose, daughter of the famous Summer Rose and the pale second girl was the Schnee Dust Mines heiress, Weiss Schnee. The four boys turned and hurried toward the building, not at all interested in investigating what was happening between the two girls.
After the basic orientation meeting for Beacon's Academy freshmen class by Headmaster Ozpim; the four newcomers to Remnant found an alcove of the auditorium to set up their sleeping bags and introduced themselves to each other, their mutual background briefing let them know that the other three were from other realities too. They spoke softly and guardedly as they watched the rest of the incoming class spread out in sleeping bags across the auditorium floor.
Alexander was the first to speak, perhaps because he had originally been the oldest and was used to dealing with teen heroines. "My name is Alexander Harris, please call me Xander though. I'm guessing that your story is similar to mine; saved from certain death in a world gone totally 'tits-up'?" Naruto giggled suggesting that he was the youngest and not much past puberty. Ranma blushed at the visual image while Harry just shrugged, too war weary to be affected for the moment. Xander continued, "Did your contacts give you any information on what we are here for? Mine just said 'to do my heroing thing and let the chips fall where they would'."
Harry spoke in a near emotionless voice, "Name's Harry Potter, and yeah, it was similar for me. I won the war but the last battle was pyrrhic in that all I loved was lost, killed or destroyed. When I finally ended my enemy, his death magic summoned a demon. I had just managed to use my magic to push it back into the hell-rift it came from when the rift closed. As I realized I was literally in hell, a goddess pulled me out of there and, well, here I am." He sighed, "Don't know what we are here for but it can't be any worse than where I was . . . I hope." Harry added, "She did say that her sister Fate was a bitch and I deserved better and hoped that I enjoyed this new experience and friends." He paused as he took a measured look over his companions and then softly added, "Don't want it spread but I think you three need to know that I am a wizard. I think it's different from this aura and semblance thing the goddesses blessed us with. Maybe not but at least you have a 'heads-up' on the matter."
Ranma was the next to speak, "I'm Ranma Saotome; I am one of the best martial artists in the world and I was in a battle with a demigod when I died. I won at first, sort of, but he killed all my family and friends and threatened to end my people as well before I destroyed him. Problem was, he was sort of immortal and after I shredded his body, his soul reformed his body into an egg. Eventually it would hatch and he would do as he said. I was so angry! I pulled a super mallet out of hammer-space and charged it with everything I was and ever hoped to be. I managed to kill him but the resulting explosion not only destroyed the entire mountain down to sea level but also vaporized his soul and mine . . . well it would have done mine, but my goddess pulled me out of that world just before it would have happened. She actually chuckled and said that 'the pompous murdering baka deserved that final solution'." Ranma shrugged and added, "She really didn't tell me anything else other than I had a new chance here without my old man screwing it up for me."
Naruto glanced at the other three before he started, "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, a ninja, and I also fought a god, well a weak local self-made type goddess really, but I lost in the end. I lost everything too just like you guys but I never gave up either. Just as I was about to die, Urd suddenly appeared, backhanded this rogue ninja named Madara away from me, threw some sort of lightning at the Rabbit goddess that knocked them both on their asses. She then patted her rear while blowing them a kiss, gave a raspberry and took me here." He grinned, "I like her and all she said to me was to 'prank the world'." He added softly, "I'm really glad she was able to save me and Kurama." A tear slid down his face as he whispered, "I just wish she had come earlier and saved everyone else too."
"Yeah, I hear you there," mumbled Xander. "I actually asked that question of the goddess that brought me here. She said they weren't allowed to interfere with mortal free will like that. Pulling us out of our home worlds at the moment of death might get them a 'slap on the wrist' from 'heavenly personnel affairs office' which she didn't really care about or explain, but that was about as far as they could go." He angled his head slightly and asked, "Kurama?"
Naruto cautiously looked the other three in the eye before obviously coming to decision. He lifted up his shirt to expose his belly as he flared his aura slightly. He pointed to the 'tattoo' that appeared and explained, "This is a chakra seal that contains an elemental being of great power. Her name is Kurama and she was sealed there when I was an hour old. She is normally a gigantic nine tailed fox made of chakra but she almost died with me and is now only an echo of that. Eventually she will recover; I would like to release her but doing so would kill me. She's my friend," he added.
"Why was she sealed there in the first place?" asked Harry.
"She was being controlled by somebody else and was attacking our village." Naruto explained. "It was the only way to prevent the village from being destroyed."
"I was possessed by a hyena spirit at one time." Xander said, "So I kind of know what you mean. It's not in control anymore but it still roams the back of my mind."
Ranma shuddered and said, "Oh man, you too? I've got a-a-a f-feline spirit in the back of my mind and when I'm too close to those furry critters, it sometimes takes over temporarily." He paused and added, "Well, that used to be true, but I think that fear was cured in me when I was healed."
"Well, that's interesting" stated Harry. "For over 15 years, I had a small fragment of my enemy's soul stuck in this scar," he said as he pointed to the faded lightning bolt scar on his forehead. "It never possessed me but it sure did cause me a lot of pain at times until it was destroyed."
Xander softly chuckled, "Ah yeah, that's odd. We were all 'possessed' warriors who died fighting divine or deific foes as we lost all that we loved. I wonder what else we have in common."
Their discussion paused as someone blew out the few candles that were providing a dim light in the auditorium. They heard a girl softly curse as she stumbled and muttered about her glass of water going sailing.
Harry sighed as he conjured a glass jar containing a bluebell flame for light for the four of them in their somewhat secluded alcove.
Harry, Naruto and Xander all stared at the short redheaded girl now sitting where Ranma had been sitting. The missing glass of water was perched upside down on top of her wet head.
Naruto snickered and in a brief burst of smoke 'henged' into a curvy redheaded girl also. Unlike a normal henge, this was a true transformation due to Kurama's innate shape shifting abilities.
Harry grinned and closed his eyes in concentration as he had been told how to do this but had not ever done it before. He slowly morphed into a dark haired girl though not as well 'endowed' as either of the other two (This was an unmodified default female form).
Xander began pounding his head on the wall behind him, repeatedly saying, "No, no, I am not doing that again no, no, NO." He slowly turned his head and looked his three companions in the eye. They each raised an eyebrow in a somewhat questioning feminine manner. He sighed and closed his eyes and focused. He shifted into a girl with curly brown hair. He explained, "I lost a bet one Halloween when I was a teen. I had to dress up as a girl werewolf that was a comic book character. Unfortunately, my costume was cursed by the power of Janus, a god of chaos. That night, all the kids became their costumes and I became a girl werewolf. The curse was released from all the others with no lingering effects except for me. I suspect it was because I was the one that shattered the bust of Janus that held the curse. As a result, I am a were-girl the night of the full moon and each night on either side of it. Those nights, I am forced to be a girl, but I can voluntarily change to a girl when I want to at other times. And yes, I can give someone else this curse by biting them, but only on the night of the full moon." He paused and added a warning, "And gods help you if you get between me and chocolate the night of the full moon; you could lose your hand." [a/n, thank you dogbertcarroll for Xander's 'base' were-girl idea, it was too humorous not to use though I did modify the details]
Ranma slumped and confessed, "Me turning into a girl is due to a magical curse also. In my case, it's based on the temperature of the water on my skin. Cold water turns me into a girl and it's reversed with hot water. If I stay in one form too long, the magic of the curse will cause water of the 'wrong' temperature to find me at just the perfect wrong moment." She shrugged one slim shoulder and added, "I've almost gotten used to it now. I don't mind the curse as much as I hate the lack of control over it activating."
Harry chuckled and said, "My change is magic just as for the two of you. But mine is due to a basic innate ability that I was born with. I can morph my appearance pretty much as I want even to the point of actually changing my gender." His face saddened as he added, "I only gained this ability by dying." Seeing the confusion on the faces of the others, he clarified. "I died early on before the main battle. However, the price of dying was paid by the destruction of the tiny bit of soul that was in my scar so I was able to come back unharmed." Harry said as he pointed to the scar on his forehead. "However, that death did do another good thing for me. It weakened all the bindings that had been forced on my magical core and released the primary power binding. When I came back, it was at my near maximum power, that was what allowed me to finally destroy my foe. The ability to morph like this was one of the talents that was unlocked but only fully released when the goddess healed me. Naruto just shrugged as the other three glanced over at her, "For me this is just one of my trained skills. I'm better at it than most ninja because of the extra power and abilities that Kurama has given to me as my partner, but it's just training that lets me do things like this." Naruto then created four clones; one of each then sat next to each of the originals and shifted their appearance including clothing to create four sets of twins. He grinned and said, "Clones are awesome!"

Meanwhile, back at Zeus's party, Urd's eyes were glossy with mischief and mirth. She turned to the other three and gushed, "Just think about all the matchmaking options the team has now!" The shortest one shoved the half empty box of popcorn upside down onto Urd's head and hissed, "Shuuu!"

Harry took the glass from Ranma, filled it with water that was then heated. Ranma used it to revert to his birth form while the others also shifted back to their male forms. The clones had mischievous grins as they slid into their 'twins' sleeping bags with them. Ranma ignored it due to his experience with Nabiki (girls do what they want in these situations, so ignore it or suffer and running doesn't help either). Xander just shrugged and also ignored it because of a decade or so of training young teen and preteen slayers. All the Narutos just giggled. Harry was a bit startled and apprehensive but seeing what the others were doing just decided to wing it and go to sleep.

Oh, Glynda Goodwitch, deputy headmistress, was not going to be happy with them in the morning. Meanwhile, the other three goddesses finally convinced Urd that making another team of just the girl clones was NOT a good idea no matter how funny it might have been to someone . . . somewhere . . . maybe. Pointing out that all the clones were still only Naruto was what finally convinced her . . . again. However, about the four super pseudo-clones 'team', well, enough said.

Harry banished the bluebell flame and jar and the group fell into a restless sleep. They expected nightmares, but the goddesses had blessed their dreams for this night at least.
Glynda's soft snarl of displeasure as she 'inspected' the four couples in the alcove woke all of them. Naruto's giggles as the clones dispersed caused her jump to several conclusions with remarkable accuracy, "Mr. Uzumaki, I presume these four phantom girls were your idea of a prank?"
Naruto's wide grin was her answer. She sighed, "Get ready, the initiation occurs this morning." She walked off, murmuring to herself, "Teenagers, what will they get up to next?"
After breakfast the new freshman class at Beacon assembled on the cliff edge for the initiation process. Harry, Ranma and Naruto were eagerly waiting their launch but Xander was looking really worried. "Ah, guys," Xander asked, "any ideas on how to do this?"
The other three exchanged quick glances between themselves, before Harry volunteered, "Don't sweat it; I'll take care of it."
The four were then launched from the cliffs into the depths of the Emerald forest with Xander being the last. Ranma and Naruto gave whoops of joy as they soared over the forest before bouncing from treetops to branches and finally to the ground. They gave a grin and a 'high-five' to each other as they became partners.
As Harry rose into the air with his launch, he reached into the moleskin bag at his neck and pulled out his Firebolt broom. He mounted it after enlarging it and swiftly moved over to where Xander was flailing about in midair. "Need a lift?" He asked Xander. Grin met glare but soon Xander was seated behind Harry who then soared off above the trees toward where the ruined temple had been pointed out. Out of reflexive nervousness, Xander activated his semblance and was looking everywhere at once. He almost instantly hissed, "Huge bird diving at us from sunward!"
Harry dove between two huge trees and promptly backtracked and came up behind the massive flying grimm. As the giant nevermore pulled up away from the trees, Xander jumped from the broom and onto the creature's shoulders. He swiftly swung his scythe, easily removing the head. He rode the corpse to the ground before it dispersed.
Meanwhile, Harry had dodged a second bird and was rapidly climbing, leading the nevermore higher and higher. He used his wand but the blasting curse only irritated the huge bird instead of doing any damage to the bony face plate. A wide grin spread over Harry's face as he realized just how angry the giant grimm now was. He dived, the bird hot on his tail which he kept just out of reach as they fell from the sky to the rocks at the base of the cliff. As planned, Harry dodged to the side as he pulled up sharply from the dive; the grimm splattered across the stones.
Xander and Harry met again at the temple site and Harry palmed the first relic he saw, a golden chess king. The pair rode the broom to the cliff top and sat down to watch the others.
Ranma and Naruto had encountered a group of Ursa grimm. Naruto had spammed a company of clones and these had swarmed the bear like grimm, attacking in various ways and weapons in order to gather information on combating them. Naruto stood there, a slight grin on his face as the memories of more and more clones came to him. As the last clone dispersed, Naruto pulled a katana out of a seal and created a dozen more clones that promptly paired off and created a rasengan using up the energy of one clone while the other held it steady and then delivered it to a target which promptly died. Naruto dashed between a pair of Ursa and beheaded both with his wind coated katana.
Ranma was bouncing from the head of one Ursa to the next and detonating them with 'breaking point' blasts in his wake. The last target was intercepted though by a joyfully screaming girl in pink who rode the last Ursa out of the clearing and into the forest; her yells gradually dopplering in the distance.
The two boys just stood there surprised for a moment before Naruto remarked, "I like her! She's pretty awesome."
Ranma snickered and agreed, "She kind of reminds me of my girl side when I was younger."
Naruto looked and bit confused, "But aren't you your girl side too?"
Ranma sighed and confessed, "Yes and no. I denied the girl side so often that she almost became someone else separate from me. I used her to hide and do things I didn't dare to do as myself." He grinned and admitted, "Like having fun just to have fun."
"Sounds kind of weird, but ok." Naruto paused a moment in thought, "You know, that sort of reminds me of the soul echo of my girl side. She's 'real' in a way now. I wonder what would happen if I could teach you the shadow clone technique? Anyway, let's go get the relic." Naruto mumbled as he took off running for the cliffs. Ranma quickly followed behind him.
The pair arrived at the temple and after a bit of searching, found the sole remaining relic, a chess piece, a golden (white) Queen. They saw the 'girl-in-pink' and some of her friends over by the cliffs just as the four pairs finished off another nevermore and a death-stalker. Ranma and Naruto were the last pair to make it out of the forest and up the cliff ending the initiation.

The pairs of partners with matching chess pieces were introduced to the rest of Beacon Academy by Headmaster Ozpin. After a number of other teams, he had finally introduced the four of them (Ranma Saotome, Alexander Harris, Harry Potter and Naruto Uzumaki) as team RAHN or team Rain. Following their introduction, team CRDL (Cardinal), team JNPR (Juniper) and team RWBY (Ruby) were introduced to finish out the final initiation team announcements.
All four members of each team roomed together in one large room with four beds, bookcases and desks plus a bathroom. It was a bit awkward for some of the co-ed teams but it apparently worked.
The four of them glazed around the room, not especially impressed except for Naruto who exclaimed, "Awesome, I've never lived in such a big place and I've got super roommates as well!"
Harry sighed, walked over to the window and paused a moment in thought before turning to Ranma and asking, "Hey Ranma, could I ask you to get 8 small stones from the ground outside. I think I could use them to make this place a bit bigger if you guys want it?"
"How large?" Ranma asked.
"About palm sized, somewhat flat would help. It has to be natural stone though." Harry turned to the other two and asked, "Let's push all the furniture to the center of the room so I have more room to work."
Ranma returned and placed the 8 stones on the floor where Harry was now sitting. The other 3 roommates watched as Harry carefully smoothed a flat spot on each stone and then cut geometrical figures into them. "These are runes," he explained, "I can use them to shape, store and cast magical effects." He paused a moment in thought and then added a few more runes to the stones before explaining, "I added some runes for security purposes and I decided to 'tune' these protection runes specifically to us by making them 'blood runes'." Harry conjured a small saucer and then added 7 drops of his blood to it. He asked, "Seven drops of blood please." Harry then mixed the blood and used it to color the runes he had carved.
Harry stood up and carefully placed a stone in each corner of the room. He pulled out his wand, tapped each stone activating the runes as he also cast an expansion spell on the room. The stones made the spell permanent as long as they were undamaged. Harry finished his impromptu activity by again tapping each stone with a glowing forefinger, making them invisible and hard to damage.
"Oh wow," whispered Naruto. "How big?" he asked.
Harry grinned, "About a hundred meters long and wide and twenty meters high." He added, as he put his broom away, "That should give us more than enough room to sleep, study and exercise without getting in each other's way."
Xander was prompt to make his claim, "Mine is the corner nearest the bathroom, no way am I running a hundred meters to get to the can in a hurry."
Harry grimaced, "Darn, just knew I was forgetting something!" He walked over to the bathroom door and conjured a sheet of parchment large enough to cover the door and frame completely. He then created an image of the door and its frame before tapping each corner of the parchment over the corner of the frame. He repeated this twice more as he embedded the bathroom interior image into the parchment. Harry carefully removed the parchment after making several copies before he walked to the corner of the room on the other side of the room door. He placed one of the parchment images in place on the wall not far from the corner and cast another spell that made the image real as the parchment seemingly vanished. Harry opened the door and checked to make sure there really was another bathroom. He sighed and trudged to the other two corners in turn to also create two more bathrooms. He thought to himself as he walked, 'Maybe I really didn't think this through?'
Harry and Xander had set up their areas about 30 meters away from either side of the room door. Naruto and Ranma had done something similar on either side of the single window in the room. This left the center of the room very empty. Harry was seriously reconsidering the scope of the expansion charm but to Ranma and Naruto this vast unencumbered wooden floor was merely a huge dojo ready to use. And use it they did for the next three hours as Harry and Xander watched in growing awe as the other two spared.
A casual comment by Xander resulted in the next change to the room. He sighed and said, "I wish we had some partitions or something similar so we could have a bit of privacy."
Harry thought a moment and explained, "I can conjure them up out of air but if we go that route, we would need to redo it every week. On the other hand, if I remake something into what we want, I could add runes and make it almost permanent." He suggested, "How about I make a few temporary sets and we gather materials this next week to make permanent partitions later on?"
Harry created a few free standing movable walls that were 2.5 meters high and 5 meters long that the four young men used to roughly enclose their bedroom and study areas. These areas were now claimed and not part of the huge open common area.
All activity abruptly ended when Xander suddenly cursed, "DAMN IT!" The other three looked over at Xander and realized 'she' was now a girl. Ranma looked out the window and confirmed that it was indeed almost a full moon, apparently the day before it.
The roommates headed for the bathrooms for showers before bed. Xander was the last to get ready and was surprised to note that the other three also chose to be in girl form and all soon fell asleep as well. She felt closer to her team for this small show of solidarity and empathy.

Chapter two . . . Classes
Naruto had lived his life and even died as a prankster. Naruto was snickering to him...ah, herself when she got up early and quickly approached the others with her idea for a school prank.
Harry thought about it before shrugging in agreement. Her thought was that 'Sirus would have loved it so why not?' A quick check of the Beacon school rules revealed that a school uniform was required for classes except for field combat classes, but vague on cross-dressing otherwise.
Xander pointed out that she didn't have to change until moonrise so this was unnecessary, but did agree that there was no way it could be hidden. She did agree in the end for the sake of team solidarity.
Ranma was hesitant but also agreed that 'his' curse could not be hidden forever. She finally sighed in agreement and the four female members of team RAHN made their way to breakfast together.
Since it was the first day of class, nobody actually recognized the other teams very well. The only thing that gained attention was that the all girl team was wearing male uniforms. When questioned, Xander just shrugged and pointed out, "Uniforms are required, which uniform isn't. So we're good."
Professor Goodwitch stormed up to the table team Rain was sitting at and raised her crop to emphasize her words and froze as she belatedly recognized the features of this team from yesterday morning. She sighed in frustration and her words were soft but heard in the entire cafeteria. "See me in my office before class."
Another team might have been nervous, but considering where this team had come from, they were on vacation as far as they were concerned. Ranma knocked on the door and when bid to enter, the team did so. It was a bit surprising to see the headmaster there as well, but not really a bother.
Ozpim was the first to speak, "I was under the impression that team RAHN was all male. Please explain your current appearance to me."
One at a time, five seconds apart, each returned to their male form; Ranma using a thermos stored in ki-space. None of them said a word in explanation. As Harry opened the door so that the team could go to class, Glenda gestured and slammed it closed.
Ozpim had paled, he had sensed the magic. MAGIC! "How," he whispered, "how is it that you have magic?"
As the main magic user, Harry chose to speak, "In my case, I was born with it as were my parents and most of my ancestors. Changing genders is merely one of my talents, a very rare but minor one actually." He gestured to his teammates. "Each of my teammates has their own stories; two have magical curses which cause gender changes and the last is not magical but an extension of his semblance; In other words, a learned and trained skill."
Dazed, Ozpim 'thumped' into the seat behind him. He sighed and asked, "Why parade this skill?"
"Two reasons actually," began Xander, "The first is practical. My gender change and Ranma's are due to a magical curse that was forced on us. There are times I am FORCED to be female. That means I will be unable to hide it and I need to train in it lest I be disadvantaged just because I am female." He sighed and admitted, "The second reason is that it seemed to be an awesome practical joke to pull on everyone."
Naruto grinned and transformed back to a girl. The others paused a moment and did so as well.
Glenda took her glasses off and began pounding her head on the desk gently.
Ozpim took out his scroll and made some entries. He explained, "I've authorized your female team to wear the male uniform." He shuddered, "I've chosen this approach because I do not want to risk seeing your male forms in female apparel."
Harry snickered, "But sir, I'm told that I have great legs." Harry changed back to male and then transformed his uniform to an exceptionally cute female version with a micro-mini. He also used his metamorphic abilities to accent his leg hair to almost fur levels.
Glenda literally blew him through the door in shock. Shortly thereafter, team Rain reassembled in female form and male apparel in time for professor Port's class. Harry may have been limping a bit but she was also grinning from ear to ear.
Naruto began snickering again. The others sighed as they already recognized the 'prank' snicker. "Hey, how about we go to class each day with two girls and two guys but mix them up each day or maybe each class?" He snickered, "I bet we could drive everybody nuts before they figure it out!"
Xander actually chuckled and said, "There are six different ways we could make teams that way not counting the all guy or girl or the eight different ways we could have just one girl or guy." And so operation 'mess with their minds' was born. Is it worth mentioning that Urd fell off the couch laughing?

They sat mixed in with the members of team Ruby as Professor Port's class began. Weiss did not like this at all and hissed at Xander, "You . . . you whatever! How dare you sit with us normal girls? You don't even wear the proper clothing." Xander's best friend had been a genius redheaded girl named Willow who was partial to girls as well. So his answer was pure 'mess-with-the-bigot' inspired. "Well, we four gals are all lesbians and we are looking to hook up with an all girl team." She slowly looked the other girl up and down and crooned, "I think we may have found what we were looking for sugar."
Xang almost fell off her chair laughing at Weiss's shocked expression. She then sauntered over and sat next to Xander as the pale girl fled to another seat.

Naruto sat on Harry's bed and watched as she experimented changing her features. Eventually Harry managed to mimic Xander's girl side. Shortly after that the other three sighed as they heard Naruto snickering to himself. Seeing he had their attention, he henged into Ranma's girl side and proclaimed, "We could go to class as two sets of twins like this!"
Harry thought about it for a moment before adding, "Or we could be guy twins as well," as he morphed into Xander's male twin. He was shortly followed by Naruto henging into another guy Ranma. Harry snickered as he morphed into Ranma also and stood between the other two Ranma and concluded, "Triplets of Xander or Ranma, boy or girl are also a possibility!"
Xander put his seal of approval on the idea by noting, "So many ways to mess with their minds."

After all the permanent partitions had been made (including a few with doors) and positioned, the young men began putting up some personal decorations. For Harry this was primarily a group of magical portraits; his godfather Sirius, his parents (James & Lily) and his best friend Hermione.
The other three roommates were drawn by the whispers of conversation. Harry introduced them to the captured memories of those important to him. Ranma and Xander were both a bit sad that they had nothing similar but Naruto suddenly realized/remembered that he had something similar available to him.
"Oh wow!" Naruto exclaimed, "I forgot I actually have something similar." He called up four clones . . . regular clones. One of them slapped him on the back of the head and hissed, "Use your semblance, idiot" before the four of them dispersed. Naruto scratched the back of his neck nervously as he giggled, "Opps." He centered himself and tried again. This time the four clones that appeared were very different.
He looked to one side; his girl-side clone was glaring at him. He looked to the other side, his mother and father did not look happy that he had waited so long to talk to them. Kurama hugged him. Naruto nervously introduced the four super clones to his teammates.
"Guys, you know how those goddesses each gave us a semblance gifts. This is mine. In the same way that Harry's family portraits are echoes of them; my semblance has echoes of these four people. They can use my ability to make clones to each appear in the real world to protect and help me." His shoulders slumped as he admitted, "I didn't even think about how they could also just visit."
Harry warily asked, "Do you exist otherwise?" He didn't think these were horcruxes especially since a goddess was involved in making it possible, but could not help but check.
Naruto's girl side Naruko answered with a giggle, "Yes, we all camp out in the idiot's subconscious and watch the trouble he gets into. We aren't actually full souls but just a copy or echo of them. For instance, I'm actually a composite of every time he has decided to impersonate a girl."
Minato stepped forward a bit and volunteered some information: "Since we are clones, we can't actually be killed. We can be dispersed if damaged enough but Naruto can then just re-summon us. It takes about ten percent of his energy to summon us as a set and only a trickle of energy is needed to maintain our presence. We will automatically disperse if we are further than about five klicks from him."
"That means you could live with me!" Naruto paused and looked at his roommates and blushed as he realized what he had volunteered without asking them.
Xander caught Harry's eye and raised an eyebrow in question. Harry nodded as did Ranma a moment later. "Harry was making partitions earlier but I think we have enough extra material to make bedrooms for the four of you." There was and bedroom furniture with partitions was placed along the walls midway in the room. Kushina and Minato on one side and Kurama and Naruko together on the other side; each pair had their own bathroom as well.

Author's note: crossover character limited information dump follows. Note, these are things the characters will discover about themselves at some point in the future.
Semblance, (and notes)
Naruto (this semblance manifests as four clone like bodies that are just as tough as Naruto but are in fact soul echoes of his parents, his girl form and the Kyuubi; in fact, these four could be considered a team in themselves each time they appear except that they are totally focused on protecting Naruto), sometimes opposites do attract. Naruto and Weiss really get on each other's nerves but they just keep encountering each other.
Harry (now the equivalent of battle mage, ambidextrous and wand-less and most of his skills are now combat related, animagus form is a shadow phoenix), Ruby is drawn to Harry's sadness wanting to rescue him. Harry is willing for chance to forget his past and get new friends.
Ranma (control of cat-fist, the three aura derived 'claws' in each hand are just over a foot long but can be combined into one single blade a meter long in each hand; reflexes and agility are exceptional), drawn somewhat to Blake though she does make him nervous for some reason. Then again, most girls make him a bit nervous.
Alexander (from prophesy, he is the 'one who sees'. He has some precognitive abilities while in battle as well as the equivalent of the byakugan (360 vision) without the physical indications and has unusually fast reflexes now), intrigued by Yang who vaguely reminds him of Buffy.
Weapons, (and notes)
Naruto (normal ninja weapons plus mother's sword which channels wind and is blood bonded to family for extra skill), while a heavy hitter, tends to specialize in effecting areas instead of individual targets (multiple, large areas), his ninjsu (chakra, seals etc) skills are still effective in this world. Tends to be rather fast and hyperactive. Enemies die if they attack.
Harry (Gryffindor's sword - - poisoned and magical in that it imparts some skill to blood user), one of the focused really heavy hitters, can have a temper when pressed too hard, very protective of his team and RWBY as well. No loss of magical power in this world and will be able to ignore gravity. Enemies die.
Ranma (mother's family sword is magical with plus 10 attack against evil; some power up from ancestors who were devil hunters), he may be the one appointed leader but the reality is that he might as well try to herd cats. Tends to watch everyone else's back. All his chi/ki skills and training remain effective. He is the fastest hand-to-hand fighter in Remnant and does know the breaking point. Will destroy evil but not permanently harm humans which might end up biting him in the butt.
Alexander (invisible slayer scythe-unbreakable two-foot long monofilament edged blade on six foot handle; because of his semblance only he can see it), on the team, he is the strategist who is aware of the whole battle even as it changes, really hard to ambush him. With years of slaying experience, he is sudden death to anything that threatens his friends as they are the only family he has. Evil doesn't get a second chance from him which will shake up 'white fang' a bit.
Possessions, (locations and sources)
Naruto (several master scrolls with Namikaze and Uzumaki inheritance sealed within the scrolls (includes several buildings - - with contents just before they were to be destroyed) - - gift from goddess),
Harry (moleskin bag containing contents of room of requirements (removed before it could be burned) plus all Potter inheritance (anything stolen in past was also gathered) including main Potter manor temporarily stored in a snow globe - - gift from goddess),
Ranma (some magical and limited treasures looted mostly from Happosia and Saffron stored in stuff space, small library of high level training scrolls added- - gift from goddess),
Alexander (backpack has small expansion space in it that contains all of Xander's possessions from his years spent training and rescuing slayers, includes entire high level library (and building) once owned by watcher's council just before council building complex was destroyed; temporarily stored in another snow globe - - gift from goddess).
