Well, here's chapter 7! Thank you for all who reviewed on the last chapter for my school project, You guys helped fix some grammar errors. :)
LEAH POV
Chapter 7
"Are you suicidal?" Leah was starring down at her imprint pinned beneath her.
"No, I'm Percy Jackson." The man said as he opened his eyes. Every time she saw his eyes she was filled with wonder, they were a beautiful sea green that seemed to swirl with the power of the ocean behind them. He had a messy mop of black hair on his head that looked windswept, as if he had just taken a walk on the beach. He smelled like the ocean, and he had a lopsided trouble make smile on his face that made her heart melt. A smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, she was unable to hide it.
Though she didn't necessarily want to get off of him, he felt good in her arms, she got up, extending her hand to help Percy, Percy, what a nice name. Percy grabbed her hand and hauled himself to his feet, still staring at her. He seemed to realize after a moment that he was still holding her hand, quickly letting go, blood came into his cheeks as he looked away.
"Nice to meet you, Percy, I'm Leah, Leah Clearwater." She said matter o factly.
He seemed to smile at her name before turning to look at her. "Well, it's nice to meet you Leah Clearwater."
"You too, Percy Jackson." Leah said.
"I'm sorry for erm, almost jumping off this cliff." Percy said awkwardly. "I uhh, wasn't in any danger though, I've jumped from like, quadruple this height before."
Leah was pretty sure a jump from quadruple this height would definitely kill someone but she didn't say that. "If you want to go cliff jumping there's a better cliff to do it, this one's dangerous because there's sharp rocks at the bottom, the cliff over there is the one I usually jump from." Leah said while pointing to the other cliff.
"Oh, yah, that would be dangerous, rocks and I don't go well together, we tend to have our disagreements when it comes to my health." Percy said as if he was thinking of something in the past.
Leah could help the small laugh that came from her mouth, it surprised her, she haven't laughed in years, ever since Sam had left her. "Wanna go over to the other cliff, then I can show you how to properly kill yourself." Leah said sarcastically.
"Oh your on, I haven't almost died in about... five days, it's been too long." Percy said. The strange thing though, was that it seemed like Percy was deadly serious. Was he suicidal? No, he didn't look the type. When Leah looked back at Percy he had already started running to the other cliff in the distance, he seemed to be flying as he ran with almost super human strength, dang he was fast. It would take all of Leah's speed to catch up to him.
Leah raced forward, running like the wind to catch up to her imprint. She cut through the trees, ignoring the bushes and trees that slapped their cold branches against her skin like tiny whips. The moon above gave the forrest a soft white glow, almost like a dream.
Finally, they made it to the cliff where they could jump off without injuring themselves, Leah had used all of her strength and speed but somehow she still hadn't been able to catch up with Percy. She slowed to a stop at the edge of the cliff, moving to stand next to him as he stared into the raging sea below.
"I've always loved the ocean." Leah said. "It's strange, it's like I've always had some sort of connection to it." Percy looked at her in surprise. His hand was brushing against hers. The cold night wind was blowing into their faces.
"So, are you going to teach me how to jump? Or shall I teach you?" Percy asked.
"Well, there isn't much to it, it's just a leap of faith. You've got to be confident that the ocean will catch you on the other side." Leah said. Percy was staring out into the ocean watching as the moonlight glittered across the water. The white wash from the waves was the most visible thing in the ocean, streaks of white across a tapestry of inky black water. Unconsciously their hands had drifted together and they interlaced as they stood over the cliff side.
"I suppose I'll go first."Leah said excitedly. "I've got the most experience in the matter anyway."
Percy turned his body so that it was facing her. "I wouldn't be so sure about that Leah. I've jumped from heights that would make you woozy."
"Nothing makes me scared anymore." Leah said tuffly.
"Oh yah" Percy said taking a step backwards towards the cliff. "What about thi-" Percy slipped on a rock, almost falling off of the cliff backwards.
"No!" Leach yelled frantically reaching forward to catch him, pulling him back in her arms. Percy just laughed at her fanatics.
"Gotcha." Percy smiled.
"Unfair" Leah said as she pulled away, embarrassed. "You cheated."
Percy took a few more steps back, soon his heals were dangling over the edge of the cliff.
"You know, those waves are pretty big down there." Leah said worriedly. "Maybe we should do this when it calms down."
"You scared?" Percy challenged.
Leah snarled. "Never."
"Good" Percy responded as he took a step back over the cliff falling backwards as he disappeared over the edge. Leah heard a loud splash as Percy hit the ocean surface. She looked over the edge of the cliff, waiting for him to come up from under the water. She waited for a minute before starting to get worried. What happened, is he ok? Her mind filled with worries as she stared into the pitch black depths below her, waiting for Percy to surface.
Time moves forward.
Nothing.
Tick...
Tock.
Where is he.
I've got to save him, something happened. Leah took a five steps back, getting ready to launch herself into the depths below. She took her shirt off to help her swim in the crazed choppy water just on the other side. The cool air pricked against her skin giving her goosebumps. Leah looked forward to the edge of the cliff and ran forward with all her might. She pushed off the edge of the cliff side flying forward over the cold waves under her. Time seemed to slow as she began her descent rushing towards the waves below, Percy's under there, and he needs my help. Her hair was flying back as the wind flew past her body, the water was closer now. Leah took a deep breath as she felt her feet break impact with the ocean. The freezing liquid surrounded her hot skin turning the water around her a luke warm. Leah couldn't see anything in the blackness that surrounded her. It felt as if she was blind.
She felt her ears pop as she swam deeper into the ocean.
The pressure of the water around her made Leah feel claustrophobic, she had lost sense of up or down, side to side. She swam in any random direction, hoping to find Percy.
Suddenly, she heard the echo of voices. Voices? In the ocean? How is that possible? The strangest thing though, was that one of the voices sounded a lot like Percy's. She swam with all her might towards the sound, she would only have about 4 minutes of breath, save Percy, and leave.
It was strange, the water around Leah grew lighter as the voices got louder and she could almost hear what they were saying. Soon, she could see her own hand in front of her and the light grew with every stroke she took. She could barely make out the voices now, she was sure one of them was Percy's.
"What do you want!" Percy yelled.
A voice laughed as it came from the water seeming to vibrate everything around her. "I want to show you, just how evil your gods are. I will show you that they are NO better than the Titian's, they are NO better than the Giants, and they are certainly NO better than the humans they pretend to rule over."
It was now bright enough for Leah to make out the scene below her. Percy was standing on the bottom of the ocean, feet in the sand as he held a sword out in front of him, fighting... the sand? The sand had come up and had taken the form of vaguely humanoid shapes, holding swords of coral as they fought against Percy. He fought like a madman, slashing and whirling his sword in an epic dance of death. For every sand monster he killed, another took its place, forming up from the sandy bottom. Now, Leah could see where the light was coming from, there was a crystal in the center of the ocean floor, about waist height, and it was glowing. A strange trail of light seemed to be being drawn into it as it came from Percy's body. As every second past, the glow swelled brighter while Percy grew weaker, his swings grew slower, his body stance more slouched. The crystal was stealing the light strait from Percy's body. The picture before her was just wrong in so many ways. Wrong wrong wrong. But Leah was used to weird, had been her whole life, so she accepted it.
The voice continued, "You know Percy, I was once a humble little demigod, just like you, I worshipped the gods, did all they asked. Till one day, I made one tiny little mistake, then bam! Eternal punishment for you. They ask without giving, and they pretend to care... until you make one little mistake. It's might equals right with the gods. They are powerful, so therefore they must be right! Eventually, on business, I came back from the underworld, and I thought, Great! The gods have finally seen there wrongs, I will be free from eternal punishment, I helped the gods once again, I watched over you and all your little friends at that camp of yours. That was, until they didn't need me anymore, then I was cast out, yet again, to the fields of punishment, without a second thought. I loath the gods, I hate them with every fiber of my being, I would prove the horribleness of their nature, but I needed to get out of the underworld. Gia rising proved to be the perfect opportunity, with Thanatos chained I escaped, and bid my time, growing in my power. My plans grew, now, it would not be sufficient to just prove it to you demigods, I would prove it to the whole world! I will eradicate the mist once and for all, the world will see the gods for what they truly are and they will finally get what they deserve, a world of utter chaos."
Somehow Percy managed to find a way to speak in his weakened state, "And how do you plan to do that? Kill Hecate?... You'll never do it."
Leah was running out of air, she needed more time, she didn't know how to help, this was not the scene she pictured to come across when trying to save Percy. She could vaguely make out the silhouette of the other man talking, he was extremely skinny and parts of his body flowed in the ocean currents in small wisps of vapor. He looked like a ghost, a living, breathing, ghost. The man hardly moved his mouth when he talked,
"Oh I'll succeed quite easily I suspect, you've been told many times that demigod blood is powerful. Being part of each world, demigods can bring the two together, or tear them apart, they can go where they want, and do what they want, so long as they please their gods. Yes, demigod blood is powerful, but a demigods essence, now that's real power. This crystal, is stealing your very soul! As soon as it is complete, I shall have the power to eradicate the mist, once and for all. But, be proud! I could not use any demigod for this, it had to be you, it had to be a demigod with enough power in the gods world, and enough power in the human world, to truly break it apart... And you know Percy, I never meant to have Annabeth die, no, it was not a part of my plans, those stupid vampires and their own hidden agendas, the one that killed your girlfriend... I suppose she had a score to settle after your girlfriend killed her sister. So truly, I am sorry for your loss..."
But he didn't look sorry, his mouth was crooked up in a sadistic smile, his eyes glowed through the darkness.
Percy yelled in rage, almost all of his strength gone now as he fought with every last bit of his energy, he was starting to become translucent, almost more like a ghost than the ghost himself. One of the sand monsters flung a large side sweeping blow at Percy, who barely had enough time to stop it. The impact of the sword hit Percy's with a clang and threw it out of his grasp, scattering it to the ground landing a foot away from where Leah was hiding. Great! Now I have a weapon!... But Percy doesn't... Percy was at the sand monsters mercy now, it's coral sword pointed directly at Percy's heart.
Leah had an idea, maybe not the best one, but it was better than sitting and doing nothing. Besides, she was running out of air, her lungs started to burn from lack of oxygen, she would be no help if she was dead. She swam slowly forward getting closer to the large crystal in the center of the ocean floor, it was incredibly bright now, a shining star in a sea of darkness, the trickle of light coming from Percy was smaller now, the deed almost finished. Leah tried to be stealthy, but it turned out she really didn't need to be, the ghosts attention was currently stuck on Percy's fading body.
"Your attempts are futile, you are alone! There is no one to help you at the bottom of the ocean. Ask your father for help, after all you've done for him he still would not lift a pinky finger to help you. I have already won! Look, the crystal is brighter than the stars in the sky!" The ghost turned to look at the crystal only to see Leah standing next to it sword raised above her head as she prepared to strike the crystal down.
"Wait, who are you?" The ghost said confused as Leah brought the sword across in a slashing strike, breaking the crystal into pieces. The light exploded outwards, seeming to jump at Percy as it filled his body with his power. But, being so close to the crystal, a small trickle of light went into her as well, seeming so slide perfectly into a spot in her gut, snuggling up closely with her body. Suddenly, Leah found she could breath, here she was, under water, breathing. She started to hyperventilate, breathing getting faster until she felt a pair of strong arms wrap around her. She fit perfectly into them and she snuggled up closely into Percy's body, breathing getting more even now.
"Thank you." Percy said, his sea green eyes staring intensely into her honey brown ones. "You saved me."
"Tell me something I don't know." Leah said with a smile as they shot up through the water toward the surface.
Well, can you guess who the bad guy is yet?
Lots of exposition here, lol, I just got it all out in one swing.
Also, a couple of people were wondering why Percy was feeling the imprint pull as well, I haven't read Twilight in forever so I sort of forgot. I don't think its to big of an deal so I'm just going to go with it.
Next Update is on Monday! (Though I post it on Sunday Night)
