It had been two days since Frederick had told Nora that his family was looking for a house and that Meg was expecting again. The woman had not left her room and hardly ate. She didn't even allow her granddaughters in her room which caused the girls to be mad at their grandmother. One day, Meg, Frederick, and Frasier were sitting at the kitchen table.

"I don't know what to do," Frasier said.

"Look, why don't we put off the house hunt until mama is feeling better?" Meg suggested.

"Are you sure?" Frederick asked his wife.

"Yes, clearly she's depressed and this isn't the time to do something that could make things worse."

"Dad, are you okay with this?"

"Of course I am and I greatly appreciate this."

Lina and Elie walked in, "Mommy, daddy, can we go to Nana's today?"

"We have to check and make sure that she's not busy first," Frederick said.

"Girls, we have decided to stay here until your grandma is feeling better," Meg said with a smile.

The girls began to frown, "do we have to?" Elie asked. It surprised everyone that Elie was the one to ask that because she had become incredibly close to Nora.

"Look, I'll call Nana and we can talk about this later," Frederick said quickly changing the subject. Lilith wasn't home that day, but she told her son that he could bring the girls over the following day.

"Dad, do you think we should try and get mama to come out here for dinner?" Meg asked.

"I'll go talk to her and see," Frasier walked to his room and found his wife sitting up in bed, "darling, would you like to join us for dinner?"

Nora thought for a moment, "do I have to walk?"

"No," Frasier knew his wife was a bit weak from her lack of nutrition.

"Okay," Frasier grabbed his wife's wheelchair and helped her into it. He moved a chair at the table so that there was a space for Nora. When the girls walked in, they basically ignored their grandmother and sat away from her. "So, are you both excited about going to Nana's tomorrow?"

"Yeah, and mommy asked if we could spend the weekend there. Nana said yes, and then we're going to spend a few days with Meemaw and Papa," Lina answered.

"Mommy, daddy, can we go live with Meemaw and Papa? They have lots of room," Elie inquired.

"True, but mommy and daddy are staying here to help grandma," Frederick told his daughters.

"Then can me and Lina go live with Meemaw and Papa?"

Frasier, Meg, and Frederick tried not to look at Nora. They saw out of the corner of their eyes that Nora's heart was breaking. "Daddy and I would miss you too much," Meg tried to keep Nora out of this.

"Girls, why don't you go have fun with Nana, Meemaw, and Papa. When you come back then we can talk about this more," Frasier said.

"Thank you, grandpa," the girls said.

Nora barely touched her dinner and everyone knew why. They also knew that she wouldn't want to talk about what the girls had said. The entire time the girls were gone, Nora continued to stay in her room. The girls got back from Woody and Kelly's right before dinner. Nora was at the table in her wheelchair and once again the girls sat away from here. "Girls, did you have fun?" Meg asked her daughters.

"We had the best time, so can we go live with Meemaw and Papa?" Lina responded.

"No," Frederick answered, "we are all staying here to help grandma."

"Don't you want us to be happy, daddy?" Elie asked.

"Of course, but we need to do this."

The next morning, Frasier got up and made breakfast. Lina and Elie came down and decided to go see the dogs, but they were outside.

"Elie, what are you doing?" Lina asked her sister.

"The back door is locked and I can fit through the doggie door."

Elie went outside and Lina became afraid. She decided to go get someone. Lina nearly crashed into her grandmother who was slowly moving towards the kitchen, "Lina, what's wrong?"

"Elie wanted to play with dogs but they're outside and she went out the doggie door," the little girl rambled off.

"Grandpa is in the kitchen. Go get him and I'll keep an eye on Elie."

Lina ran off, "grandma," Nora turned to the girl, "grandpa's not here."

"Go find him, sweetheart. It's okay," Nora turned and saw her granddaughter moving closer to the pool. "Damn," Nora opened the back door and maneuvered her walker out of it. "Elie," Nora shouted for her granddaughter as she tried to quickly make her way over to the pool. "Sweetheart, please come over here. You're too close to the pool." The little girl stayed where she was and Nora continued to move closer. Elie tripped on something and fell into the pool, "Elie!" Nora abandoned her walker and went towards the edge of the pool. She fell and crawled on her hands and knees to the edge. She held a hand out for her granddaughter, "take my hand," but the little girl was too panicked. Nora was able to get herself into the pool but knew she was too weak to swim. She got ahold of Elie just as Frasier, Frederick, and Meg came running out with Lina. "Frasier, take her!" Nora yelled as she weakly handed their granddaughter to him. Once Elie was safe, Nora's exhaustion kicked into overtime and the woman began to lose consciousness.

"Mama!" Frederick jumped into the pool and swam down below to help the sinking woman. He lifted her and climbed up the stairs with the woman in his arms.

"Call the paramedics," Frederick said as he began CPR. Meg called for help while Frasier and the girls watched.

"Grandpa," Elie said softly, "grandma saved me and I was mean to her yesterday."

"Grandma loves you and would do anything for you."

"God, please don't let my grandma die," the little girl whispered through tears and Frasier held her closer.

Nora began to cough and Frederick turned her onto her side so she could cough up any water. The woman groaned as she began to open her eyes. Meg heard the siren and went to let the paramedics in. "Mama, can you hear me?"

Nora coughed trying to talk, so instead, she nodded.

"Thank you," Frederick whispered to the woman.

Frasier went with Nora in the ambulance. Frederick and Meg decided to stay home with the kids until Frasier called.
