**sets to Trent's perspective**

Trent's POV:

Our first challenge was something usual on reality TV and nothing whacked-out as seen on Revenge of the Island, All Stars, or Pahkitew Island.

Dakota is doing a good job taking care of our daughter while we're competing in environments that aren't safe for babies; despite her not liking being an intern.

Both Gwen and I know this is just the beginning and experiences may not be easygoing so we'll need to consider more logical options.

**switches to Gwen's perspective**

Gwen's POV:

It seems like this season of Total Drama might be moderate on harshness based on our analysis.

We've had positive and negative experiences and some neutral events this year but I recall facing worse during past competitions.

I might have to get help from Courtney's lawyers if conditions become inhospitable for our daughter's sake.

The contestants woke up the next day to prepare for their upcoming challenge.

"Last evening's challenge was 'child's play' and Blaineley better have something more compelling in stall for us." Scott said to his team.

"From what we've done in the past, we'd probably all agree." Gwen reflected.

"Yep, we've had worse." Courtney concurred.

Dakota came over to the girls' trailer to speak with Gwen before babysitting her daughter.

"The other interns have gotten very sick and I'm glad I didn't get near them yesterday." Dakota told Gwen.

"Something may have went wrong with the meal courses; yet I'm doubting it was my team's cooking." Gwen replied to her.

"Things on this show are known to be staged by hosts on occasion; I believe you." Dakota affirmed.

"It's a good thing you're still in perfect shape so you can look after Erika again." Gwen commented.

"I promise to not let you down." Dakota assured her.

—11:00 AM—

Blaineley showed up at the trailer area a few minutes later to announce the second challenge.

"Good morning competitors; it appears that several of our interns got food poisoning yesterday night as a result of some bad food item from the cook off." Blaineley said to the contestants.

"Your next challenge will be a race to get medicine for the sick interns in the medical tent."

"In this game you must get to one of the doctors in the campground then bring the medicine that was handed to you to the interns."

"The first team who picks up medicine and reaches the goal wins."

"The challenge will start when I blow the airhorn."

"On your mark, get set, go!" Blaineley signaled.

The two teams made a run towards the campground to locate the right doctor.

—Scene at the campground; at 11:05 AM—

The Stormy Hydras and Flaming Phoenixes reached a fork in the road and went in opposite directions.

Gwen decided to discuss strategies with her teammates on the Stormy Hydras team.

"I think we should split up to see which doctor has the food poisoning antibiotic then meet in a specific location at a certain time and head over to the medical tent." Gwen suggested to her team.

"That sounds like a smart idea; though the rest of our teammates suggested other strategies might also be effective." Trent considered.

"I'm going with Gwen's idea if it sounds the most logical." Courtney thought.

The members of the Flaming Phoenixes team were struggling to cooperate while discussing their plans on the other side of the path.

Mike's alternate personalities had somehow gotten unstable, Topher was getting distracted by cameras, Amy and Samey were fighting again, and Cody was fazed with his teammates being dysfunctional.

"If you guys fail to work together and continue this commotion, we're going to lose the second challenge." Cody said as he attempted to pull his team together.

"You whippersnappers can't make an old man climb trees!" Mike (Chester) yelled at Amy and Samey for asking him about the view of the campground from an altitude.

"It was Samey's fault for triggering Mike's old man persona!" Amy blamed Samey.

"No, Amy is blaming me for her ideas!" Samey said.

"There's too much noise in the background and the host in training needs the volume down for his close up!" Topher told the other three.

"Quiet!…" Cody frantically commanded his teammates.

"The other team might be ahead of us and there's no time for this insanity. It's best if we focus on proper gameplay." Cody suggested to them.

Samey got her mind off bickering and listened to Cody's words.

"Cody is right. We shouldn't squabble if we want to avoid elimination." Samey admitted.

Topher stopped posing for cameras then got his head in the game.

"Oh, Blaineley might be pulling some sort of prank like Chris did. I don't want to end up like I did before on Pahkitew Island." Topher inferred.

Mike then snapped out of his old man persona with his teammates' help.

"I don't want Chester to pop out during challenges again. I'll try harder to avoid unnecessary frustration." Mike insisted.

Amy was reluctant to cooperate, but she didn't want to risk getting voted off.

"Alright, fine! I'll go with your ideas." Amy disdainfully said to the rest of her team.

—Scene at the trailer area; at 11:50 AM—

Dakota was babysitting Erika back at the girls' trailer.

"Gwen told me you are ready to be weaned so I'll let you try some new foods." Dakota said to Gwen's daughter.

"I will start you off with some cooked apple puree."

She then took out a jar of unsweetened apple sauce from the food storage next to Gwen's bed.

"This jar hasn't been opened yet so it's still fresh." Dakota said to herself.

"Let me get you a spoon." she said to Erika.

Dakota spoon-fed the baby little by little until she had enough.

"Good baby, try not to spit-up." Dakota said to her.

Erika scrunched her face after eating the apple sauce.

"I think you managed to keep the food down this time, but it looks like I need to change your diaper." Dakota observed.

"I'll take you to the changing table to get you cleaned up."

Dakota got a bit grossed out while changing diapers, yet she promised to not let Gwen down on babysitting duties.

"There you go, all clean." Dakota said to Erika after the diaper change.

"This part time job isn't as bad as what the other interns are doing. I just hope I don't get assigned both jobs at the same time." Dakota pondered.

—Scene at the campground; at 12:00 PM—

Three out of the five members on the Stormy Hydras team split up to look for the interns' medicine; Gwen however decided to stick with Trent during the challenge for specific reasons.

"This season started out usual but it looks like the hosts put the 'drama' back in Total Drama." Trent conjectured.

"I recall times during previous challenges where contestants and interns both got food poisoning due to the hosts' sadism." Gwen said to her husband.

"Pahkitew Island?" Trent presumed.

"Yep. That was one time something like this happened and I'm glad we weren't in that season." Gwen regarded.

Just then, the two of them came across one of the doctors Blaineley mentioned in the game rules.

"Are you the doctor with the food poisoning antibiotic?" Gwen asked.

"Yes, I am." the specific doctor answered.

"Here's the medicine with the interns' names on it." the doctor said further.

"Alright, now let's find the others and head to the base." Trent said.

The two of them quickly headed over to the meetup point in the campground to find their teammates.

—12:10 PM—

All 5 members on the Stormy Hydras team met up at the specific area in the campground as they planned.

"Gwen and I received and examined the bag of food poisoning antibiotics and we can bring it to the interns." Trent told his team.

"Good, let's get to the medical tent ASAP." Courtney said.

—12:15 PM—

The Flaming Phoenixes were still trying to locate the right doctor while the Stormy Hydras were arriving at the base.

"I think we might have to give up on this challenge." Samey said.

"You're forfeiting and acting like a loser? Ha! You should have done this much earlier." Amy mocked her twin.

"Amy, your mean words are not helping anyone." Cody told Amy.

"We still need to cooperate; even if we lose the second challenge."

"You really need to..."

"May I get your attention please? The Stormy Hydras have won the second challenge and everyone must return to the trailer area." Blaineley commanded though the campground megaphones.

Cody's words got cut off before he could finish talking to his team.

"Oh, it looks like we've lost again." Cody said in disappointment.

—Scene at the trailer area; at 12:30 PM—

Both teams gathered around the trailer area after the second challenge.

"Since the Stormy Hydras are the winners of today's challenge, the Flaming Phoenixes will be facing elimination this evening." Blaineley told the contestants.

"Aw!…" the Flaming Phoenixes team members responded in agony.

"Stormy Hydras, for you I've planned a reward. Tonight you guys will be watching a movie of choice." Blaineley informed the winning team.

"Enjoy your free time for the rest of the afternoon. I will be meeting with you again later today."

—Scene behind the trailer area; at 1:45 PM—

Gwen thought she'd discuss something important she heard with Trent that afternoon.

"Our team won the second challenge; however I have a feeling that something in the game is being rigged." Gwen presumed.

"Possibly; overall we've seen several seasons like that." Trent considered.

"Dakota told me the other interns have been acting weird lately and she doesn't know if it has something to do with Blaineley or just themselves." Gwen whispered to Trent about her analysis.

"What did Dakota say in particular?" Trent quietly asked her.

Gwen briefly explained what she heard in a flashback.

—Reflected scene between Dakota and the interns—

***Flashback Scene***

It was early in the morning around 5:15 AM when Dakota was approached by a few of the interns in her cabin who woke her up.

"Hey Dakota, I heard you are getting paid more than us." one of the interns said to her.

"I want a chance to babysit instead of cleaning and testing things for hosts." another intern said.

"What do you want from me? I've been assigned this specific job and I'm not in control of wages. Now leave me alone, I'm trying to sleep!" Dakota skeptically responded to them.

"If we don't get fair treatment, we're going on strike!" the interns demanded.

The interns then left Dakota's cabin with frustration.

"These interns better not be sabotaging the gameshow just because of some jealously." Dakota thought.

"They're going to draw unwanted attention and the prize money will be at risk."

"I should probably tell Gwen about this, but first I'm going back to sleep." she said drowsily.

***Flashback Ends***

Trent was stunned from Gwen's description of Dakota's message.

"Oh my goodness! The unwanted attention will be bad for our daughter and contestants might get hurt!" Trent contemplated in distraught.

"I'm not sure if we should warn the other contestants about this or not." Gwen said to her husband doubtingly.

"At least those interns can't get to Erika if Dakota protects her well enough." she thought.

—Scene in the girls' trailer; at 5:00 PM—

The female contestants were trying to decide who to vote off in the campfire ceremony that evening.

"My team has immunity, but I've noticed we are outnumbered by male contestants." Courtney said to the girls.

"I think my team should vote off someone who isn't playing the game right and you can probably guess who that is." Amy said.

"I know you're thinking it's me, but most people know how you always seem to blame me for everything bad!" Samey bitterly said to Amy.

"The more you two fight, the more likely one of you will be getting voted off." Gwen reminded the twins.

"Also, my daughter will be sleeping in this trailer and she doesn't like loud noises."

"You're right. We will need to keep it quiet at times." Samey complied.

—Scene at the boys' trailer; at 5:10 PM—

Most of the male contestants were getting along but a few were worried about Mike's personas.

"If I were you, I would vote off Mike so he won't turn into Mal this season." Scott said to Cody.

"I've kept an eye on Mike for the last 2 days and I'm sure Mal hasn't popped up yet." Cody replied to him.

"Mal is notoriously sneaky and we can't be one-hundred percent sure if he's actually dormant or not." Scott said further.

"I'm sure that Mal has been inactive in Mike's mind, so we should probably vote off someone who is being non productive." Cody told him.

"Maybe we should vote off Amy or Samey for their constant bickering." Mike suggested.

"There are only 4 girls competing in this season and they don't seem to be getting along; not to be sexist or anything." Duncan inferred.

"I don't think I should get involved with the Flaming Phoenixes' decisions but I will stay alert of Mike." Trent thought.

"My position is at stake; I've been a distracted slacker!" Topher thought to himself after hearing what the other male contestants said.

—Scene at the campfire ceremony; at 7:30 PM—

The Flaming Phoenixes team gathered around a campfire by the edge of the film lot later in the evening.

"Welcome to the first elimination ceremony of this season. Please cast your vote for who you want to eliminate from the game in the confessional booth." Blaineley told the contestants.

The members of the losing team entered the confessional individually.

Cody's confessional footage:

"I'm going to vote off Topher. He hasn't been very productive in the game lately." Cody said.

Mike's confessional footage:

"Topher is causing a hinderance on us and we don't seem to be making any progress because of him." Mike thought.

Amy's confessional footage:

"I'm voting off Samey. She's still trying to make us look weak!" Amy said.

Samey's confessional footage:

"Amy has been causing trouble for more than just me, so I'm voting her off." Samey thought.

Topher's confessional footage:

"Scott warned me about Mike, and Mal has been known to mess with hosts too. I guess I'll vote him off." Topher said.

Cody voted for Topher, Amy and Samey voted each other off, Topher voted off Mike, and Mike kept his vote a secret.

"It looks like everyone has casted their votes and I will be handing out medals to the contestants who are safe for now." Blaineley said to the Flaming Phoenixes.

"The first medal goes to Mike."

"The second and third medals go to Amy and Samey."

Blaineley then took out the last medal and pointed at Cody and Topher.

"Cody, Topher, one of you is going home. According to the votes I received, the last medal goes to…. Topher." Blaineley declared as she tossed the last medal to Topher.

"Wait! This can't be!" Cody objected.

"My teammates said I was the most serious person in the game and I didn't cause any trouble."

"Someone must have rigged the votes."

"I'm sorry Cody, but we are out of time and you are going to take the 'Lift of Shame'; which is a helicopter." Blaineley told him.

"Fine, I will leave. Keep your eyes open on the game just in case." Cody said right before he boarded the Lift of Shame.

Cody then left the film lot.

"One contestant gone, nine remain." Blaineley concluded.

"You may head back to the trailers." she said to the remaining contestants.

—Scene at the trailer area; at 8:00 PM—

Trent and Gwen discussed more about their current situation that night.

"It appears that things are not going as we expected based on what Dakota told us." Trent said to his wife.

"Talk about 'reality'; yet not in a usual way." Gwen replied to him.

"I suggest we come up with another plan or drop out of the gameshow." she considered.

"We might as well." Trent agreed.

"Sometimes I wonder what Erika thinks of our situation; though she's too young to know." Gwen said while holding her daughter.

—Scene behind the trailers; at 1:50 AM the next day—

Mike (Mal) was drawing some kind of blueprint behind the two trailers when the other contestants were asleep.

He then walked into the confessional booth.

Mike's (Mal's) confessional footage:

"Cody was so gullible for thinking I was dormant and he had no clue that I rigged the votes; causing him to get voted off." Mal said.

"After I get those who know me well enough out of the way, I can take my revenge on the game, then get away with the million dollars. But I'll need to put Mike in his place first."

"Hahaha!" Mal laughed evilly.
