Note: Okay, I admit, I'm rushing through this story, but I just want to get it done before Halloween. However, it might get done on Halloween if I get sidetracked while writing. I hope that everyone is enjoying the story, mainly because I am working HARD on this one. Considering how this story involves vampires and other monsters, I should probably spend some more time on the chapters. Nonetheless, I hope that all of you think that this story is good, I really am trying to make the story good. After all, I am a newcomer to this site. Now, let's move on to chapter 8.
Chapter 8: First Day of Training
As she slept, Krystal could hear Fox's thoughts. The cobalt vixen couldn't help but smile, knowing that her leader was determined to get her back. Even though the encounter would have to end with her draining or killing him, the vixen felt that it would be great to see the vulpine again. However, she still had to train with Wolf, apparently to get a better mastery over her new abilities. Despite being one of her mortal enemies, the one-eyed mercenary had been nothing but kind to her. But, Krystal could not ignore the fact that he and his teammates had kidnapped her and that they, mainly Wolf, were forcing her to remain grateful to them.
Krystal was sleeping so heavily that she didn't hear Wolf, Leon, and Panther entering the room. However, the vixen could sense the three older men moving towards her. Not wanting to spoil the surprise, the cobalt vixen continued to sleep, pretending not to know that they were carefully lifting her.
"You do know that she's a telepath, right?" Leon asked cautiously (a rarity for him).
"She might have a few new abilities," Wolf said, "we just need to have her gain a better mastery over them."
"Oh, she'll be fine." Panther smiled.
"How can you tell?" Wolf asked.
"It's like you said, Krystal has potential." The feline said.
Wolf, Leon, and Panther carefully walked towards a lake while carrying the sleeping Krystal. The night sky was still out, making it safe for the vixen's training to begin.
"Alright, we're here." Panther quietly said.
"Now we just need to wake her up." Leon said, looking at Krystal.
"Wake up, kid." Wolf said as he threw the cobalt vixen into the water.
Krystal then came up to the surface, coughing and gasping for air.
"Easy kid, you were underwater for a few seconds!" Wolf couldn't help but laugh at the vixen's dramatic reaction.
"Have the three of you lost your minds?!" Krystal frowned.
"I get that all the time." Leon smirked.
"You should be lucky that isn't holy water!" Panther said, "Otherwise, you would boil in that lake!"
"Can you help me out?" Krystal asked, "I'm good at following voices, but I can't see in the dark."
"Since you're a vampire now, you should be able to use your enhanced senses." Wolf said.
"I take it that's when your eyes glow yellow?" The cobalt vixen asked, her curiosity masking sarcasm.
"You figured it out a lot quicker than we thought you would!" Leon chuckled.
"I'm not stupid, you know!" Krystal frowned.
"No need to act harshly, Krystal." Panther stated.
"I wasn't." The Cerinian said.
"Just swim towards us when your eyes glow," Wolf said, "you're probably freezing in that lake."
"Aye aye Captain." The cobalt vixen dryly stated as her eyes glowed yellow.
"And before you ask, we removed your communicator." Leon stated, "Even though it would've been funny to watch you get electrocuted and fried to a crisp."
Krystal swam towards the three mercenaries who were normally her enemies. With her senses enhanced, she could feel her telepathy grow. However, she felt something new happening. Ignoring it, the cobalt vixen continued to swim out of the lake. The moment she got out, Panther handed her a towel.
"Thanks." Krystal said as she dried off.
"When you get dry, I'll hand you your sword." Wolf stated.
"Shouldn't I be focusing on my new skills?" The cobalt vixen asked.
"I didn't just give that sword to you as a gift, now did I?" The one-eyed lupine said as his servant exchanged the towel for her sword.
"Besides, you can't always use a blaster." Panther smiled.
"And that staff, while impressive, can't always be your main weapon." Leon stated.
"But it was something my mother gave to me before Cerinia got destroyed." Krystal frowned, "And it was all thanks to that Andross bastard!"
"Krystal, let's just get started with your training, I don't want to be out here when the sun rises." Wolf sighed.
The vixen nodded, but found herself floating.
"Didn't expect that to happen!" Wolf said in surprise.
"At least she's gaining new powers." Leon smiled.
"How do I get down?" Krystal asked.
"Think about the ground, works for me." Panther told the levitating vixen.
"Okay." She said as she felt her feet touch the ground.
"Wow, you didn't really need to do it, did you?" Wolf asked, impressed that the vixen managed to get herself down.
"I guess that I'm one of those vampires with beginner's luck." Krystal noted.
"But, what else can you do?" Leon was quizzical, knowing that Wolf's trainee was coming along.
"I can smell blood, but it doesn't have to be pouring out of a wound." The cobalt vixen said.
"Impressive," Wolf said, "you're really coming along! In fact, you're doing better than how we thought you would!"
"Should we get started with our training?" Krystal asked.
"Yes." The one-eyed lupine smiled.
For a few weeks, Krystal had no problems in her training. To Star Wolf, it was a miracle how she was surviving anything that they were throwing at her. While Wolf did turn the Cerinian into a vampire, he was half-surprised that the cobalt vixen managed to do so well as they practiced sword fighting. Even though she had knowledge in battling with weapons, Krystal never felt as powerful as she did now that she had a sword. Her flying skills were getting better as well, as she could fly over the forest that Star Wolf had taken her to. However, she discovered that she had gained psychokinesis, but decided to mainly focus on hand-to-hand combat. She would only use her psychokinesis for distraction purposes and as a last resort.
In order to satisfy her bloodlust, Krystal would often go out with Wolf or Leon to feed on someone. Her main targets were utter scum bags, so she had no problem with draining them of their blood. As per Wolf's orders (as he was her master), the cobalt vixen made sure to check if her victims were dead. This was mainly because the one-eyed lupine was going to make more vampires with the SW-42 formula, even though he would occasionally bite someone who he felt was worthy. Despite that, he was genuinely having fun with servants as he trained them. He even felt that Krystal helped to warm his non-beating heart a little.
One night, Wolf had called Krystal over to him.
"What do you need?" The cobalt vixen asked.
"I just want to say that you've proven your worth as a vampire." Wolf said.
"Really?" Krystal was not surprised.
"Not only that, but I'm deciding to go under a pseudonym." The one-eyed lupine smirked.
"That's interesting." The Cerinian vampire said.
"I know." The mercenary-turned-vampire said.
"What will you go by?" Krystal asked.
"I thought through various ideas, such as spelling my name backwards," Wolf spoke, "but I've got the perfect one: Volk."
"Volk?"
"Indeed, that's what those vampire hunters will call me: Volk."
Note: Wolf has a weird way of coming up with a pseudonym, as Volk is literally Russian for Wolf (I learned that as I was reading articles about Russian animation). While I'm at it, I should say something to my first reviewer for this story.
EquinoxWolf: Sorry if I didn't go with your idea with making Wolf do the Dracula-Alucard thing to his name, I really am. I hope that you're enjoying the story, despite me not doing that. I would like to hear from you again.
What did you guys think of this chapter? Let me know when you leave a review. Until next time guys, peace!
