Squalo had been sent on a mission as far as she was aware, everyone but their boss was gone. She found a lounging room, where a large man was sitting, she started to back out and close the door.
"You can come in." Haru stopped and opened the door further she walked in and sat down in the open chair. She looked over at the large scary man, and noticed an extra plate of food covered with a sliver dom. He pushed it towards her, she opened it and was pleasantly surprised to find her favorite dish in front of her.
"Uncle Sqi, told you didn't he." The man chuckled a little. She accepted the food, and ate a little, she still wasn't too hungry. She then noticed a box being pushed towards her. She opened the box and found a pink dress, with white outlines of sakura blossoms, a pair of pink shoes to match. A bunny necklace, and earrings. She also found a set of bunny ears; she looked up at the man in front of her. He was suddenly wearing bunny ears too.
Haru smiled, and put on her ears. She ate a bit more of the food, and picked up her box and ran to her room to put the outfit on. She took a picture of her new outfit, then skipped down the hall to the room. There she entered and showed off her new outfit; she twirled then posed.
"Do you like my bunny outfit?" The man she recalled was called Xanxus, smiled a half smile at her.
"Thank you Uncle Xanxus." With the exception of Bel and Flan, she called everyone Uncle or Auntie. Xanxus then got up and started to hop, she laughed and felt like a child again and he did the same.
Xnaxus knew if any of his subordinates saw him, he wouldn't hear the end of it. However he was also aware of his second in commands ever increasing worry over the girl. So much so he arranged for his nephew's and friends' visit to the Vongola mansion later that day. He had also heard from him, over the last little bit her favorite hobbies and meals. He nearly shot the man when he told Lussaria a story from when she was five, of a pink dress and bunny ears and him playing along.
Xanxus was also aware that this girl had everyone around her finger. So Xanxus did what he could today to make her smile and if hopping down the halls like bunnies made her happy and forget about her problems for a bit so be it. They were hopping down the hall, she was laughing when she got a call suddenly, she fished her phone out of her dress. Where she kept it he doesn't know nor does he want to know.
"Hi Hayato" he raised an eyebrow, curious as to how often he called.
"Didn't need to check you're the only one who calls me."
"Nothing much, just my usual."
"I got a new outfit, one of my new uncles bought it for me." Her smile got brighter. Xanxus could see why the trash arranged today's meet up, with Reborn and his father.
"Yeah it's a pink and bunny theme. It looks exactly like the one I got when I was five but more mature looking."
"How is everyone? Still blaming themselves?"
"I still can't believe you guys dug around to find out what happened."
"Yeah but you could have waited for me to tell you." He then noticed a blush blooming on his face and he couldn't help think he was gonna kill the man doing this to their precious daughter.
"I am not sending you that, Oh the plans i can send."
"Of course I did my work. I am a member of this famiglia too and I will continue to do my part to support you...you guys." Xanxus felt his anger rise further; he didn't listen to a week of Squalo moping around when he had originally said no to her living with them for this boy to come swooping in to steal her away. Squalo's words still rang in his mind from that day, "She has no one else, they are throwing her away." So he watched as she moved in and took up people's time over the last couple of months; as she was trying to hide her depression and need for someone. He was also aware of her break downs whenever Squalo left; normally someone else was here but as everyone was busy this time he made sure to prevent it or be there for her if it happened. Squalo never saw how bad it got and that was ok; Squalo would never admit it but he was grieving too.
"Yeah, I love you too. Bye Hayato." This brought him out of his thoughts. He will kill this trash.
That afternoon Squalo knew something had happened when Xanxus brought Haru to the Mansion. Haru was showing off her new outfit, he swore he knew the outfit but didn't know where. Xanxus was proud that he bought 2 headbands, bunny ears and the normal one. It wasn't until the japan brats came in and Haru started hugging them.
The weekly phone call, yep. Probably didn't hear the phone switch hands.
His thoughts were correct when he saw Haru gave the storm brat and hug, and Xanxus pulled her away. In an attempt to calm the shocked girl who was about to lose it, Squalo got his shitty boss to let go of her. Who in turn glared at him, it was then that Squalo realized every member of the Varia viewed her as their daughter, Bel and Flan more so like a sister.
He also realized that she needed to be around the family she chose because her smile was the truest smile she had since moving in, that was until he saw the video Mammon had of Xanxus hopping like a bunny with her
