A/N: So this chapter will be going into the realm that is neither StarClan, nor the Dark Forest. I call it the Rot, the prison of this book series' villain. Also i decided to keep the theme of this holiday, so here we go.

Shimmerpaw sat over by the fallen tree, which broke through the camp walls out and into the forested hills beyond. The other few apprentices sat around her, Moonpaw was a little closer than the others though. The silvery gray she-cat her tail wrapped around her paws as she munched down on the crow she picked.

Shimmerpaw looked over at the quiet tom who was chewing a piece of vole, as a cold wind blew down from the north the apprentices huddled a little closer. Moonpaw's pelt brushing against Shimmerpaw's as they both sat in silence.

"Okay, let's play a game shall we?" groaned Aspenpaw from the back.

Shimmerpaw's ears perked up as she turned to look at the golden tabby she-cat; who turned to look at them. "We have all barely spoken for a couple days, let's go down the line and say something about ourselves shall we?"

"And who would be starting this game?" Beetlepaw meowed.

Aspenpaw remained silent for a bit, before her gaze fixated on Moonpaw. "You!"

"M-me?"

"Yes you, you alone; go!"

Moonpaw looked down at his paws before speaking. "What would I talk about?"

Aspenpaw rolled her eyes as she slapped a paw to her face. "What you do for fun, what's your favorite prey, do you like anyone… just something to break the silence."

Moonpaw turned his gaze up to the sky. "Well, I do like to run through the clearings on a cool night, and the sunset's not so bad either… what about you Splatteredpaw?"

The light brown tom didn't respond, although Aspenpaw nudged him he didn't respond. "Well, I love to go out hunting when the sun is there to warm our pelts, when the world is it's brightest." Aspenpaw meowed.

Shimmerpaw could feel the eyes fall on her, as she shuffled a little uncomfortably. "I like the taste of vole, and a night sky is not so bad either."

Aspenpaw rolled her eyes. "Of course, the luxuries of camp is your favorite… been hanging out with that StarClan forsaken elder for far too long."

"Shatteredlake is an honorable she-cat, just because she is older than anyone can recall means nothing." Shimmerpaw argued.

Aspenpaw rolled her eyes. "It's clear that she should've gone to starclan by now, but no… she's stuck here with us for all of eternity."

Moonpaw raised his head. "I think that those things are great as well, sometimes the simple things are the best." He argued.

Shimmerpaw gave a slight smile, before turning back to her crow down at her paws. Moonpaw was flicking his gaze back and forth between his vole and Shimmerpaw, but he just went back to being silent as Aspenpaw and Beetlepaw talked amongst themselves.

Shimmerpaw found herself in a dark, and rotting forest surrounded by darkness with a hint of red. She looked up at the sky; it was like the night but with a hue of red. There were no stars and the moon had a sickly green color to it, with the trees seeming to peel and black insides revealed.

Shimmerpaw could feel the dread of this place; it reeked from the scents on the ground. It's whispering into her ear fur, it's pulling at her pelt. She looks left to right, before she felt a chill rush through her spine. Turning around to look into the shadows, as the familiar long limbed shadow cat emerged. Towering over the she-cat as those blood red eyes burned into hers, deep red claws sliding out of hidden paws.

"Run!" it snarled.

Finding her footing, Shimmerpaw turned and ran off. Through the shadows that pulled at her, she knew the cat was chasing her… stalking her. She rounded a corner to come face to face with its claws. Tearing a wound across one of her cheeks as she quickly turned to run further away.

A sinister cackle echoed through the forest, as it stretched on forever; seeming to just run her around in circles. As she tried to get further away from her hunter; her paws kicking up dark black leaves.

Shimmerpaw stopped at the base of three large stones, as she backed away the ground began to rumble as two dead kits and a she-cat crawled out.

"Shimmerkit, why did you leave us?"

Shimmerpaw turned tail and took off again, only to come face to face with the shadow once more.

"Shimmerkit…" the voices of her dead siblings called out to her

"Shimmerkit, please answer us!"

Shimmerpaw turned to the left and took off running as fast as she could away from them, only for the large broad face of a fox to come lunging out at her; barely missing her pelt as she ducked under it.

She felt a weight drop onto her shoulders, and she was pushed through the ground tumbling down the deep pit; paws flailing to catch onto the walls. Crashing down into the leaves as they fell down around her, looking up into the dark sky that was barely visible through the tiny hole above her head; the dark shape nowhere to be seen as she rose back up onto her paws.

"You have fallen down to the truth, find within what awaits you!" the voice of her hunter called out.

Deep dark water began to rise out of the soil beneath her paws. As it swallows Shimmerpaw in the waves and as she is dragged down, her eyes stung as they were forced to be open. Her lungs unwillingly breathed in and out, allowing water to pass through her. The great walls of the ditch were gone as she was swept down a river.

Washing on what feels like small rough rocks that cracked under her paws, she struggled to lift herself up onto the shore but they kept slipping down the slopes. But then she hit hole, and she looked down and realized she was crawling over bones of cats. Ones that broke under her weight further down the bank, she then began to see the bushes on the far end to be the rest of the remains sticking out of the ground.

Shimmerpaw then felt herself being dragged backwards, back towards the river by several claws being dug into her hindquarters. As she fell into the depths again, the water broke and she was plummeting through an empty void. Before she fell on something moist, mushy, and warm; just as she realized what it was hundreds of paws reached out and started to pull at her. First were her hind paws, flailing around on the ground before going still, then her forepaws which followed suit. And thein her head was the last to be pulled free.

"You will die a thousand times over." It growled.

Shimmerpaw felt as if she was falling, as her head rolled across the ground. Before it was seized by more claws which forced open her jaws, as they began feeding deep red berries through her jaws. Her vision began to become hazy as the world continued to spin around her; before she was hovering in the air possibly thousands of tail lengths above the ground. Her paws flailing as she felt the rushing feeling of air being pressed out of her lungs.

A thick liquid began to drip from her down towards the darkness, as she looked down she could see long deep guts that poured out a black substance. Her breath beginning to choke as she could feel something rising from the depths, spewing out a small dark shape that was soon falling towards the unknown below her; as she reached out with a paw she caught it. Only to be dragged down with it further down into the depths, as she slammed onto something wet and gross. It rolled her around before she was plunged backwards before falling back into the void.

"You will never escape the inevitable."

Shimmerpaw hit the ground at last to find the small dark shape again, a small silvery gray she-kit curled up in a ball. Shimmerpaw ran towards it, before its head turned around separate from the rest of its body with bloodshot eyes. The she-kit let out an ear piercing screech as it leapt at her, biting into her neck and pulling out her throat and leaving Shimmerpaw to fade into darkness.

Shimmerpaw jolted awake back in her nest, in the medicine cat den safe and tucked away. Berryleaf rounded the corner, his face wide with concern. "You were yowling in your sleep, what was happening."

Shimmerpaw ran to him. "Nightmare, I dreamt I was in that place again." she answered, curling up beside the tom.

"Shh…

"It is not over yet!"

Shimmerpaw looked up to see her mentor gone, with her standing upon his body with the shadow looming over her. She took a step back as it raised a hind paw with the deep red claws unsheathed.

"I am inevitable!"

Shimmerpaw finally woke up, running her paws over to make sure of it this time. Quivering underneath her fur she lay still in her nest trying to shake away the dream. 'It was just a dream, it was just a dream!' she repeated, over and over in her head. Before she shot up on her paws and raced around the corner into Berryleaf's sleeping area, where she shook the tom awake.

"I- I saw it again."

A/N: I may post a chapter on the day just for fun, but anyway... happy Halloween folks!
