After breakfast the next morning, our heroes set off for the jungle again, heading back to Chronicaal for their next clue, passing a Stygimoloch and some rhododendrons along the way.
"So," Matt asked, "We're seeking these Sacred Crests, but also these 2 twins? What do we even know about them?"
"Honestly, I can't say for sure, really." Izzy replied. All I know is that they're extremely important to the survival of the main city and stuff, and that they're missing!"
A half hour walk later, they stopped to take a break(most likely due to Mimi's low stamina) when they saw something shocking; a bunch of passed out drunken soldiers that looked like a mix of Egyptian and Roman guarding...
"The Twins!" Our heroes whispered loudly.
They were both roughly the same size, with chocolate brown hair and only about TK's height. One was a Boy, and another was a girl. They exactly matched the images that Tai saw in his dreams, so they knew that they had to act.
They quickly untied the twins and ran off into the jungle. Upon reaching an area of elephant grass, which towers over a human, they decided to talk to the kids, unaware that they were being watched.
"Thanks for saving us!" The boy exclaimed. "My name's Lyle, and this is my sister, Sammy!"
"Pleased to meet you!" She replied.
Our heroes introduced themselves to the royal twins, and explained everything that had brought them to this position. The twins were about to speak up, when they heard ominous sounds that sounded sorta like vulture sounds. Looking around nervously, they also heard sounds of horses and swords being drawn. Just 10 meters away, they could see lots of other evil soldiers looking for them through the gaps in the grass, but before they could act, 7-8 foot high terror birds started pouncing on the evil soldiers and their horses, tearing them to pieces in a feeding frenzy, scaring the rest of them away. The birds would become known as Brutornis, which means "Heavy Fowl". An adolescent chick chased our heroes into a hollow under a big tree.
Try as it might, it couldn't get to our heroes, so it joined the rest of its family and pack in the feast of the evil soldiers.
"Can we come out yet? I need a vacation!" Joe almost screamed.
After that, our heroes managed to get the kids back to the Imperial City, and back to Chronicaal, where their adventure would take off again, in more ways than one.
After an entire day's hike down the river, our heroes managed to get back to the great city, where Lyle and Sammy were returned to the central palace, much to the people's and Chronicaal's delight and relief.
"Wonderful job Children! Excellent! Stupendous! The world is that much closer to being saved!"
"The World?"
"Yes Joe!" Chronical replied. "The Crests and the 5 elements are that much closer to being completely reunited once again! Come here, and take a look at what I've got for the ancient temple, once you've gotten all the crests!"
Chronicaal showed the kids a small, glowing, red medallion.
"Is that some Medallion of Fire?" Mimi asked.
"As a matter of fact, yes! In our culture, there are 5 elements! Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, and Iron! This small medallion contains the very core of magic for Fire! At the heart of the world exists 2 other elements: Aether and Dark Aether, but I'll go into those some other day.
"Chronicaal? I overheard you and the other elders taking about a portal that must never be opened. Do these elements have anything to do with them?"
"Yes Kari," Chronicaal said "but, right now, we needn't worry about that; eat and be merry! The Twins are home!
That evening, while their clothes were being washed, our heroes had dinner while they bathed in some volcanic hot springs. Bathed in the gentle, tropical sunshine, it was like paradise for what they had endured! As they fed on their exotic fish and berries, with some figs and bugs, they discussed stuff about their adventures.
"Where do you think all of these elements and crests fit in?" Asked Tai as he petted a nearby Pangolin.
"Don't worry," Matt said, as he and TK watched a Eurasian Buzzard chase some Java Sparrows through the treetops nearby. "I'm sure it'll all connect soon, and with the crystal Chronicaal gave us, we can teleport from place to place now, and with that, we can get this quest done like that now!"
