Chapter 8: Uniforms
"We used this with Sue" - said Reed showing me a prismatic device that measures light refraction - "we are gonna used on you and see if we can see you with it" - he added
"I know what that is Richards, just go with it" - I said rolling my eyes
They put the device in front of me and looked at it with a thoughtful expression, then Professor started to move something on the device and I know that they can't see me and are trying to adjust the machine to find a way to do it spending almost 2 minutes into it mumbling something between then until I get tired
"Stop, just stop, I know you guys can't see me, no matter how much you both try to adjust that thing" - I said
"Emmet..." - trailed Reed
"Don't...I'm just gonna go" - I said floating away
I heard them calling for me but I don't stay, I go to my room through the door and I lay on the bed looking at the ceiling, I don't know how I can keep myself from going through stuff or go through stuff either at will or not, it's confusing and exhausting, but I try to remain calm because if I not I somehow activate the green beam, I have already had two incidents with them thanks to Johnny being annoying.
I can't sleep, get hungry or anything, I don't feel anything physical or have any physical need thanks to this power, so I just remain there staring at the ceiling until is the next day hoping for Professor Storm, Sue and Richards have figure out something to help us, mostly Ben and me as our effect has been more permanent.
Next day I'm just sitting on the couch with Ben watching TV in the morning, the high school me would be thrilled to know that I'm closer to Ben now and I'm not saying that just because we are sitting together closely, but also because we talk more since we understand each other situation, he have tell me something about a girl he met called Alicia and I think it's awesome after what the fucking Debbie did to him.
"What the fuck?" - laughed Ben turning to look at the guys using their uniforms form the Space Station and I laughed too
"What are you guys doing with those on?" - I asked between laughs
"Professor Storm made a tests with us using our uniforms since they were exposed to the storm like us, they can transform like us, becoming invisible, changing size on demand or remaining impervious to flame" - explained Reed to us
"Dad called Victor and told him to send them for studies" - added Sue before turning to Ben - "the suit will stretch, you should try it" - she suggested Sue to Ben
"I wouldn't be caught dead in that" - said Ben
"What about you Emmet? Doom also send yours" - said Reed
"Richards, I'm still wearing my boxer briefs and the medical gown, I can't change clothes or takes off the ones I'm wearing" - I explain
"You know, these costumes are missing something" - said Johnny
"These are not costumes Johnny and we're not taking them out, we need to stay here till we've stabilized" - nagged Sue, guess Johnny is right, she is such a mom
"I'm getting sick of being trapped here" - complained Johnny shaking his head - "NASA wasn't even this strict" - he said before he walks out with Sue following him
"Maybe it's missing a utility belt" - suggested Ben talking about what Johnny said
"Or a cape" - I added and we both laughed and Reed rolled his eyes walking away too
"You think they want to keep the powers and be superheroes?" - Asked Ben
"I don't know, the fact that they want to use the suits is maybe a sign" - I said to him
"Do you want to be a superhero?" - asked Ben
"I'm not sure Ben...but our condition isn't changing" - I said in all honest - "I been flying around, going through walls, using the beam...but not to be a superhero, I'm trying to see if something can trigger me back to being normal...but is not working" - I explain - "but...in case something happens at least I know how to use them" - I add
"Something like what?" - asked Ben
"Remember the invasion of 2012? And let's not forget that some crazy ass alien make half of the universe population disappear 6 years ago before we got back 7 months ago, so yeah I think if things don't change this powers might come handy" - I said
"Yeah...maybe...but I don't wanna stay like this forever" - said Ben
"I know Ben" - I said sighing - "do you want to...go back to Debbie?" - I ask
"No, she can't deal with...all this shit" - said Ben
"What about Alicia?" - I asked
"What about her?" - asked Ben
"Maybe she doesn't care about "all this shit" Ben" - I said
"I don't know Emmet...I'm gonna grab something to eat" - said Ben walking away
Every time the conversation gets too deep Ben always walks away or remain silent, I don't push him though, I know he needs time to process stuff and whatever this Alicia thing is...he does to not want to jump into something just as a rebound from Debbie and also make sure the same thing that happened with her doesn't happened with Alicia.
I decide to go to the penthouse to stay with Jagger for some company, I don't need to use the elevator anymore, I just go through the floors and walls until I'm where I want to be, a couple of hours later in the afternoon I get a visit.
"Hey Emmet, are you here?" - asked Professor Storm
"Yes, what do you need professor?" - I ask
"Can you come with me? I need you to see something" - ask Professor Storm
"Sure" - I say and soon was in the lab with him and it looks like he is been going in a crazy research for a whole day, which would explain the dark circles under his eyes
"Are you still here with me?" - asked Professor Storm
"Yeah, I'm here" - I say
"Take a look at these, tell me what do you think" - said Professor Storm walking to a diagram for a machine
"Ok...you gotta tell me what am I looking at because I see some things that are more your field than mine in the notes" - I say
"The plants from space" - states Professor Storm - "their particles are still charged, with the right amount of energy, those ions could create the elemental profile of the cosmic storm" - he explains before grabbing a file flipping through it - "if we can build a machine to re-create the storm, we can reverse the polarity..." - he trailed
"And reverse the mutations" - I finished - "but you need the right amount of energy to stabilize the storm, maybe tie into the city grid and reverse the polarity in this" - I said pointing to a part of the diagram
"In where?" - ask Professor Storm...fuck, I forgot he can't see my finger
"Maybe I need someone's body to help you better, where is Richards and Sue?" - I ask
"They are in a video call with Nick Fury, he was being very persistent and I asked Reed to at least have a couple of words with him, guess they are lacking after the loss of Tony Stark, Vision and Black Widow and Captain America" - he explains
"Doesn't S.H.I.E.L.D. have enough action figures to play with?" - I ask rolling my eyes - "What about the wing guys, the red witch, the Wakanda king and "Spider-dude"? Why do they need us as well?" - I ask
"You know...if someone had your power they be doing something with them" - said Professor Storm - "look Emmet-" - he starts to say
"NO FREAKIN' WAY" - we heard Ben scream and follow the noise and walk into the common area close to the lab, Reed and Sue join us and Ben looks furious
"Ben, what's going on?" - Asked Reed carefully and Ben points at the TV and in the screen we see the ESPN Motocross X-Games and Johnny is talking to a reporter
"So what can you tell us about the outfit?" - Asked the X-Games Reporter pointing at Johnny's using the blue uniform with a "4" stitched onto a side of the chest
"Not too much, but I will say that it's all weather and no leather" - said Johnny with a smirk on his face - "kind of Armani meets Astronaut" - he states proudly
"He didn't" - said Sue with her hands on her hips
"Oh, he did" - complained Ben
"What did he do to the uniform?" - asked Sue turning to Reed and we all turn to him as he peels back his labcoat revealing the "4" stitched onto his chest too
"He talked me into it" - said Reed with a guilty look while we all roll our eyes at him
"So what are your superhero names?" - Asked the X-Games Reporter
"I go by the Human Torch, babes can call me Torch" - said Johnny winking at the last part and I feel my blood boil while my hands started to glow in green
"What about the rest of the team?" - Asked the X-Games Reporter
"Uh, we call my sister the Invisible...Girl" - said Johnny
"Girl?" - asked Sue crossing her arms over her chest, her feminism showing
"That's easy to remember, what about the guy that stretches? He's the leader, so what's he? Mr. Fantastic?" - Asked the X-Games Reporter
"I wouldn't say he's the leader" - said Johnny rolling his eyes while Reed just shrugs
"Could be worse" - said Ben
"What about this one?" - Asked the X-Games Reported with a picture of Ben showing - "what do you call this Thing?" - He asked
"That's it, just The Thing" - declared Johnny - "We would have gone with "The Rock" but it was taken and "The Thing" pretty much sums it up" - he said with a smirk
"Okay, I'm gonna go kill him now" - said Ben standing up and starting to walk to the door but Richards stop him
"Ben, slow down a second and-" - started to say Reed
"Is it true what they say?" - Asked the X-Games Reported with a picture of Reed showing on the screen - "that he can expand any part of his anatomy?" - He asks
"Actually, between us, I think he's got some problems staying rigid" - joked Johnny
"...wait for me..." - said Reed mad
"Which may explain why this woman is not smiling" - said the X-Games Reported showing a picture of Sue
"I'm driving" - declared Sue walking out with Ben and Reed
"Dude, that's my sister" - complained Johnny
"I heard there might be someone else involved, something like a "fifth Beatle" type of deal, what can you tell us about it?" - Asked the X-Games Reporter
"Well you know we always have people behind the scenes like my dad, Doctor Doom and others, but they prefer to let us do the talking" - said Johnny
And before I could hear anything else I shoot a beam to the TV making it explode and Professor Storm who was still in the room flinched covering himself with his arms before pulling them down looking perplexed at what I did
"I'm guessing you are following them" - said Professor Storm clearing his throat
"Not interested on giving your son a lecture" - I said
"You know...Johnny have talked to me about you, he seems to like you, I know this whole thing about the "Fantastic Four" have gone to his head, but he really doesn't mean to..." - he started to say
"Push me a side because his ego is bigger? Yeah, he has a weird way to show his interest" - I say and float away not wanting to keep this talk as I prefer to play with Jagger rather than to keep worrying with Johnny's ego.

A/N: Johnny keeps moving on the wrong direction about this "Fantastic Four" deal and keep pushing Emmet further apart from him, do you guys think they'll find their way back to be like before? Or is gonna take long for them to do that?
We have another cameo! In this post we have Miles Teller who played Reed Richards on the 2015 reboot, fun fact is that for a moment I almost kept him as Reed for this fic but decided to ho for a whole original cast instead of having him and Andrew is a more cute Reed tbh.
