November 19, 20XX, Day 79/365

It's been about two weeks since my little run-in with Emerald. And ever since...I've had to bail her out of trouble she's caused! I mean, seriously, it's like that woman is a magnet for trouble! And it doesn't help that with every single encounter I have with Emerald, it always ends with half of my money stolen

But...I'm at least making progress. I mean, my wallet gets a little less lighter ever encounter we have...so...that's at least something

She also decides to hand out at Tukson's, whenever I'm working. But while she's there, she's either messing with me, stealing from customers, or in some cases, both at the same time. She also "buys" some of the books available with some of the money she "borrowed" from me

As for Mercury, we've been training for the upcoming Remington's Grant Tournament, coming up with different strategies to defeat the various fighters that are participating and to kill the Grimm. So we have to be sure our fighting styles work for one another. So fare, we have a few strategies planned, but it's nothing too over the top

But right now, I'm trying to figure out how to use my Buster Enchantment to benefit us besides busting shit up! But, when I asked on working on our combos if he used his Semblance...he was...hesitant to talk about it, but deciding not to piss him off, I let it slide. He also tends to hangout at Tukson's whenever I work, reading comic books and the greatest creation in the whole universe, MANGA!

As for Neo...well, she's Neo. There really isn't a lot to say about here that hasn't been said already. I've tried to get her to talk...well, text in her case about her past a bit more. I didn't get that much, all that she told me was "my uncle made a promise to take care of me when I had nowhere to go"

I mean hey, it's not much but it's at least something. But I don't want to pry too much, otherwise she'll get suspicious. So, I decided to drop the subject for now

But as I much as I want to know what happend to her, especially to make Roman Torchwick, the big boss of crime make a promise to someone! But if there is one thing that has changed with Neo...she's become very...clingy. I mean sure, I don't mind the affection, but sometime's it's hard to work when there's an ice-cream-themed girl constantly clinging to your leg

Any updates from Team CFVY was that Coco had tried to get me to change out of my black-and-blue checkered shirt. It's not because she doesn't like it, its just because she wants me to where something more...fashionable. I mean sure, I don't mind the extra clothing...but it takes...so...bloody long! But at least something came out of it, I managed to get my emblem stitched in on the shirt's shoulder

And to those wondering what my emblem is, it's basically a dragon's body, it's tail surrounding it in a circle. Not that exciting, but hey, at least it looks cool

Grimm Studies

Okay, now let's move onto Grimm Studies. First are the Ravager's, a giant bat-like Grimm that are native to the deserts of Vacuo. They're small, quick and tend to attack their prey by using their jaws and claws. And even adult Ravagers are capable of lifting fully grown human with ease. But what makes these Grimm challenging, if that they can emit sharp, sonic screeches that is capable of shattering glass at close range

But just like normal bats, they'e blind and require echolocation to navigate through their surroundings. So to deal with them, use an opposing noise...let's say...a boiling tea pot to draw them in and finish them off one by one

Next we have is another rare Grimm known as the Nuckelavee. A giant, horse-like Grimm with the upper half of a humanoid on it's back. It has been reported for the destruction of countless villages on the continent of Anima, and to this day, it hasn't been found...and those who looked for it, never returned

Those that did however, described the creature to be "twitchy", intelligent, and vey flexible, being able to twist it's human torso indefinitely. But what makes it worse, is that it also has unnatural stretchy arms, giving it plenty of range. But the horse-part of the Grimm doesn't do much, all it does is run and stomp, it's the human torso you have to worry about.

But it is noted in a Huntsman notes that only either the horse or the "Imp" as I like to call it can move at a time.

Then finally, we have are the Manticores, a Grimm with a lions body and head, a scorpion tail which contains venom, and wings. But there are some reports of Manticores having a piked club instead of a stinger. Despite their size, Manticores are quite agile in the air, being fast enough to catch up to an express train.

But what makes them worse, that they're capable of breathing fire, like its larger cousin the Sphinx. A Sphinx is like a Manticore, but far more larger, has a snake for a tail, and is a lot more difficult to take down. You see, a Sphinx is like an Alpha Manticore, meaning all the Manticores take orders from him. So, you need to take down the Manticores first before fighting the Sphinx

History

...Let's move onto a different subject, let's talk about an event before the Great War only known as "The Dragon Wars", where everything was tense, and no one was declaring war on anyone

Though, the world of Remnant was exactly what you call "peaceful" at the time. Back then, hordes of Wyvern's roamed the world of Remnant, slaughtering, eating, crushing thousands of innocent people and burning their homes to the ground.

Back then, only a few people were actually able to kill the Wyverns, but those who did either died shortly after to another horde of Wyverns, or have succumbed to the wounds the Wyverns have inflicted on them. Back then, people relied on lesser Sacred Arrays such as one called "Divine Healing", which is capable of healing any wound

As you know, Sacred Arrays can manifest into anyone, both Humans and Faunus. That means even to this day, someone walking past me could possess a Sacred Array and not even know it! But I have yet to meet one so...

Getting back on track, there was one event that stood out from the others. That one event was called "The Battle For Sanus"

Now, unlike the Battle For Vale in Volume Three, there were major differences that set the two apart. Instead of one Wyvern, there were a total of TEN Wyverns...you heard me TEN Wyverns! Now, I know what most of you are thinking..."How the hell are the people going to fight off TEN Wyverns, when the main cast couldn't even fight one off!"

Well, you're right, those people would've been slaughtered...if it wasn't for a warrior that happened to be passing by. If it was a normal "weapons user", they would've been killed before they could deal any actual damage. But this sword-mans had possessed not just a normal Sacred Array.

The warrior was dressed in black, dragon-based armour with red jewels on his hands, legs and one of his chest. But what stood out the most, was that he had a pair of crimson wings that shined like the moon. This warrior wielded The Black Dragon King's Dark Wings, or Rhaegal for short.

But after a tense battle, the warrior was victorious, the people of Sanus had won...and the Lone Warrior left as quickly as he came. But since them, there has been a great decline in Wyvern attack. Now I may not be an expert...but using dragon-based armour suggests that the warrior managed to unlock his Stasis Shatter. I mean, I would ask him how he did it but...he technically isn't around anymore so...

As for the Wyverns, some say that the Lone Warrior killed them all, while other believe that without an Alpha to led them, they scattered and returned to a place only known as "The Badlands", an island that is just above the continent of Sanus, and the left of Solitas. But, not much is known about the Badlands, only that it is home to the most dangerous species of Grimm in all of Remnant.

There have been very few missions in exploring the Badlands...but none have ever been completed. Even the most bravest and strongest of Huntsman and Huntresses haven't returned. But there have been a few rare cases where some do. But whatever they saw...changed them mentally. As they got back, they gave up on being a Hunter and pursued much safer careers

I don't know what they saw in the Badlands that drove the most bravest of Huntsman to give up...all I know is that somehow, that Grimm lady has to be involved somehow

City Of Vale, Tukson's Book Trade (My POV)

Currently, I was sitting behind the counter of Tukson's book trade, waiting to serve customers or at least wait until my shift was over or until Ozpin has something for me to do. Usually during the day, it's pretty quiet, with the exception when Neo, Mercury. or Emerald are here

Not only that, we just got the new X-Ray and Vav comics on the shelves. I thought at least someone would come up to pick a copy for themselves!

But, it's not all that bad, I have all of this time to myself and most of the people that come in aren't assholes. Even id they are, I can kick them out of the store! Way better than my old job!

Words can't really describe how bad my old job was, but at least numbers can. And I rate it a negative five out of ten, and trust me, you will not believe how hard it is to get them to let me do that! Customer service is a bitch to deal with!

As I waited, I took the time to read that said copy of X-Ray and Vav "Heh...that's hilarious"

Thought before I could continue reading, I heard the bell ring as the door opened, signalling that someone just entered the store

"Oh-!? Um...Welcome to Tukson's Book Trade, Home to ALMOST Every Book Under The Sun!" I said, stumbling to my feet as I placed the comic I was reading down.

Yeah, when I explained what happened to the first guy I served to Tukson, he agreed to change the catchphrase so that more people won't accuse him of false advertising in the future.

The person in question was wearing a purple/black zip-up hoodie, with a white shirt and black pants. And, guessing by the person's body and the fact she's wearing heels, she's a girl...what? I'm not staring...not that long at least. But in a way...she's familiar, I mean, I can't see her face because of her hood

"Thank you" The girl said "Do you by any chance know where the adult section is?" She asked

"Well, if I didn't know where everything was, then I would've been fired a long time ago" I said, earning a chuckle from the girl "It's just over there, right by the mystery section" I said, pointed near the mystery section

"Thanks" She said, as she walked over towards the adult section and began to scan the shelves, looking for whatever book she was looking for

...Wonder where I've seen her before

But my thoughts interrupted when I felt my scroll rumble in my pocket. I took it out and glanced down to see who the message is from "Christian, this is Professor Ozpin. I need you to come back to the academy at one. I have a special mission I want you to look into" The message said

I already know it's you, Oz. Your name is literally in my contacts!

"I'm just about to finish my shift. I'll get there as soon as I can" I messaged him back and placed my scroll back in my pocket. As I looked up, I saw the woman place a couple of books on the counter. As I scanned the books on the counter...and I noticed a familiar pattern "The Man With Two Souls, The Man With Four Souls...and Ninja's of Love: Recipe for Passion..." I read out load

.

.

.

Wait a fucking minute

"A-Alright...may I see your book card?" I asked

The girl nodded as she handed me her card from her pocket. I took it from her hands and swiped it in the machine. I read the name the name that was on the card, and sure enough, my suspicions were confirmed

Holy. Fucking. Shit

Blake Belladonna

She must've noticed my strange expression "Uh, are you alright?"

"Hmm? Oh! Y-Yeah, I'm fine" I stuttered "I was just zoning out, that's all" I said, as I placed her books into a plastic bag and handed them to her

"Thanks" She said as she pulled twenty-lien from her pocket and placed them on the table

"H-Have a nice day!" I stuttered

"Yeah. You too" She said as she walked out the door

As she walked out, I suddenly leaned on the counter! I just met Blake Belladonna! One of the main characters! HOLY SHIT!

Beacon Academy, Beacon Tower (My POV)

After my unexpected run-in with Blake, I left Tukson's early and headed back to Beacon to see what Ozpin wanted. As Tukson got back, I told him what was going on. He reassured me that he understood and that he would be able to take care of the shop for the rest of the day

After an hour of walking, flying, followed by even more walking, I finally arrived at Professor Ozpin's office on-top of Beacon Tower. But, every time I look at the tower, I'm always reminded of what will occur next year, The Fall Of Beacon. I mean sure, I know what's going to happen, I can use that to my advantage.

I can even use that to save Pyrrha and Penny! I know I can't prevent the Fall, but best I can do is throw as many monkey wrenches into their plans as possible. And I already started doing that by getting Mercury, Neo, and Emerald back on my side. But the real question is...what am I going to do after the fall? Where am I going to go?

I know I said I would look for the other Weapons of Nicodemus user, but where would I start looking? And I highly doubt all of them are exactly..."good". Not only that, most of these events that I mentioned transpired over eighty years ago!

But my thoughts were suddenly cut off when I heard the elevator ding, as the doors opened to Ozpin's office, where I saw him sitting at his desk "Ah, Christian. Come in, we have much to talk about" Ozpin greeted me

As I walked into the room, I was surprised to see Professor Port standing right next to Ozpin's desk "Professor Port! What are you doing here?" I asked

"Ah! Hello, Mr. Pendragon! Good to see you too! As for why I'm here, well, I'll let Ozpin explain it" Port said

"Time it at the essence, so I'll get straight the the point...for your sake" Ozpin said "I need you to go down to the Emerald Forest and investigate some suspicious activity"

"What kind of suspicious activity?" I asked

"Recently, we've been having some trouble with our Security Network in the Emerald Forest. We needs boots, or sneakers in your case, on the ground to investigate" Port explained "That's where you come in my good lad! We need you to go down into the Emerald Forest, and find out what's causing it!"

"Now hold on a damn second" I halted "Why me? And this is just a suggestion, but wouldn't a fully trained Huntsman or Huntress be better off handling this themselves?"

"Well, most of the Huntsman and Huntresses in the area are currently undergoing missions of their own, and the staff here are too busy teaching the students to go and investigate the area themselves," Ozpin answered.

Of course...that would've been TOO easy!

"Besides! I think it's time you got a better understanding of the area, and what better way than going on a mission of your own!" Port said.

"Alright, I'll head down to the Emerald Forest, and see what's going on" I said, mentally sighing

But before, I could walk towards the elevator, was stopped by Ozpin "But before you go, there are a few things we need to give you" Ozpin said, as he pulled out a black scroll and some sort of earpiece from his desk drawer

"What are these things?" I asked as I picked up the two items

"This" Ozpin said as he pointed to the scroll in my left hand "Is a special kind of scroll. It will run a full scan through the area. It will be able to detect an oncoming threat and the general direction of your goal. This is also how we will send you the coordinates to your destination." Ozpin said. He then pointed to the earpiece in my left hand "This is the device we will use to keep in touch with you. When you are at your objective, or if you have any questions, then just press this button." He pointed to a button on the side of the ear piece "I have high expectations for you." Ozpin said as he took a sip of his cup of coffee.

"When you are ready, head to the lifts and wait for the Bullhead we called in." Port said

"Got it" I said as I headed out of Ozpin's office

But before I walked out, I was stopped by Ozpin "Oh, and one more thing Mr. Pendragon"

I turned back towards him "Yeah?"

"I see you've been only been using one Enchantment, why don't you let the power in your gauntlet to build up?" Ozpin asked

I shrugged "I don't know. Busters the only Enchantment I know"

"Then take this opportunity to find something new" Ozpin said

I nodded as I walked out of Ozpins office and descended down the elevator

Beacon Academy, Beacon Tower (3rd Person POV)

Shortly after when Christian left, Professor Port sighed as he turned towards Ozpin "So, why did you lie to him when you said that we didn't have any available Huntsman or Huntresses"

Ozpin took a sip from his mug "Well, I thought this would be good training for him when it comes to actual field" Ozpin said "That, and I thought that this would prove to be quite entertaining for me."

"But, shouldn't we at least have a Huntsman shadow him?" Port asked

"I have complete faith that he will succeed" Ozpin said "If I didn't, then I wouldn't have sent him"

"Well, whatever you say, sir, I trust your judgment." Port said.

"Yes, you may take your leave now, Peter." Ozpin said.

Port nodded and headed out of Ozpin's office. As he did, Ozpin spun his chair around, facing the view outside of Beacon "Besides, with him dealing with this, I can focus on the bigger threat at hand." Ozpin mused to himself.

(Timeskip) Emerald Forest (My POV)

In case you didn't know, here's a little crash course of the Emerald Forest. As you already know, the Emerald Forest is located just north of Beacon Academy, and is where new students take their initiation and to assign teams. The forest is known to be quite dense, the perfect habitat for unsuspecting Grimm such as Beowolves, Ursai, Creeps, and even Boarbatusks.

But as you go deeper into the forest, you may run into ancient ruins from the Kingdoms of the past, including an abandoned temple where students have to retrieve a specific relic, in my case next year, it's probably a chess piece. From what I heard from Velvet, they used cards last year

But this place stands out to me...because bad things that happened to me when I was in the forest. First, I was almost gutted by a Beowolf...then I broke my arm when I punched an Ursa to pieces...I don't even want to know what will happen this time

Currently, I was now sitting in a Bullhead, waiting for the pilot to drop me off at the drop zone. It would've been easier if he dropped me off where the Security System was, but due to the dense forest, and the Grimm that inhabit the forest, he had to drop me off somewhere else

I'd just finished setting up the gear Ozpin gave me. Before we landed, I summoned my gauntlet out of my right arm

"Hey, kid!" The pilot said "We're almost there! Get ready to jump down!" He said, as he opened the doors to the Bullhead, the sheer wind blowing into the aircraft "By the way! Aren't you too young to go on missions?"

"Aren't you a bit too old to be a pilot?" I shot back

.

.

"Good point!" He yelled, as I felt the Bullhead started to descend into the drop zone "Good luck out there kid! Hopefully, I'll be here to bring you back to Beacon!"

"Well, dying an extremely horrible death isn't on my list! But thanks anyway!" I yelled back. I then jumped out of the Bullhead and onto the ground of the Emerald Forest.

As I got up, I was met with a small clearing with two pillars acting as some sort of "gateway" into the forest. Best I can do right now is follow the path, and see where it goes from there

I pulled out the earpiece from my pocket, and placed it in my ear "Now...how do I turn this thing on?" I asked, as I pressed a random button on the earpiece

After a few seconds, a voice came from the earpiece "HELLO, YOUNG LAD! I SEE YOU MADE IT TO THE EMERALD FOREST!"

Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, my ears! I quickly took the earpiece out of my ear and turned down the volume down "Yeah, I made it to the Emerald Forest" I said, as I placed the earpiece back in my ear

"Splendid!" Port said through the earpiece, now at a much lower volume

"So, what am I looking for exactly?" I asked

"Hmm, well whatever is affecting our Security Network, it must be doing some sort of damage to our Control Centers. I would try checking there first. I'm sending you the coordinates to the Control Center now." Port instructed.

"Control Center. Got it" I said "I'll let you know if I find anything off" I said as I hung up

"Updating Map" The scroll said, as a small map began to form onscreen

"Thanks, Fliss" I said, as I began to follow the stone/dirt path. It eventually led me to a small area, with a set of old vases to the left of me and a wooden platform in-front of me

Wait...maybe there could be something useful in those vases. I mean...old currency...maybe some sort of relic, it's worth checking out

As I walked towards the set of old vases, the blade within my gauntlet popped out "This always works in video games!" I said as I slashed the set of vases to pieces...only to find nothing "Ugh! Video games cannot be trusted..." I muttered

.

.

What!? When you're in an ancient ruin, you'd expect something at least!

Saving my disappointment for later, I headed towards the wooden platform. The platform overlooked another large area of the forest. It was filled to the brim with rocks, bushes, trees and some damaged pillars. But as I looked to the left of me, I saw a small pack of Creeps, sniffing at the ground

"...I'm guessing that's the only way to get to the Control Center?" I asked to no one in particular "...Hey, Viserion, can't you just form those...Spirit Wings so I can fly there?"

.

.

.

"...Silence...but of course that would be TOO easy!" I muttered, as I jumped down, catching the attention of all the Creeps in the area "So...have any of you seen some suspicious activity around here?" I asked

However, my only response was when one of the Creeps lunged towards me, but before the Creep could land a single bow, I ducked down and sliced it in two with my gauntlet blade, slowly disintegrating to ash as it landed on the ground behind me. "You could've just said no!" I yelled.

In response, the rest of the Creeps charged towards me. Another two lunged towards me as I rolled out of the way. I felt the ground start to shake, I suddenly jumped to the left of me, barely missing the Creep that came out of the ground, attempting to get the jump on me

I landed on the ground, the jewel in the gauntlet began to glow before quickly diminishing, only to see two other Creeps charge at me. I got up, and used one of the Creeps as a ramp, jumped and cut the Creep in the air in half. The final two started to charge, only for me to activate the Buster Enchantment, jabbing the Creeps, sending them flying towards the rock wall, killing them

"So..." I trailed off, as I looked around "Anyone one else?" I asked. I got my answer when the ground exploded right behind me. I was sent flying into the air, only to be slammed back into the ground by the same Creep that bursted out of the ground

"From the back!?...Dick move!" I muttered as I got up and looked at my attacker. My attacker was another Creep, but was larger and had spikes traveling from its head, to its back. "From your bitchy attitude...to your size...are you the big boss or something?" I asked

My only response I got from it was when the Alpha Creep let out a loud roar "...Is that a yes?" I asked, but suddenly, the Creep charged at me. I started to charge towards the Creep as well, the jewel in the gauntlet glowing in the process. I yelled as I activated my Buster Enchantment once more, as I cut the Alpha Creep in two, its remains crashed on the ground before turning into ash

The two remaining Creeps charge at me. I ducked both under them before their claws and jaws could make contact. I drove my blade in one of the Creeps in the chest, and then swung my blade at the other, cutting it's head clean off. The two bodes collapsed to the ground, turning into ash as the wind blew them away

"Alright...now where's this Control Center?" I asked

"Warning! Incoming Hostiles!" Fliss warned

I didn't have that much time to move in the direction where I was heading. I whipped my head around to see a pack of Beowolves coming in from behind

I sighed "Bring it on you black sonuvabitches...and not in a racist way!" I shouted as the pack of Beowolves charged at me

(Timeskip) Emerald Forest (My POV)

Shortly after dealing with the Beowolves, I continued to walk on the same path in the direction of my objective. But I would've been done a lot faster...bt these fucking things pop out of nowhere! They're like fucking mosquitos! Once you swat one away, another one pops up!

I mean seriously! I can't have five minutes without Fliss saying "Warning! Incoming Hostiles!"

But it isn't all that bad, there are so many parts of the Emerald Forest I haven't even seen in the show! From the ancient ruins, to the natural rock formations and even the view from on-top of a mountain, I started to marvel at the beauty that the Emerald Forest had to offer

I chucked "No wonder my mom likes to take hikes whenever she could. This looks beautiful"

"Ah yes, the Emerald Forest is filled with ruins of ancient kingdoms. It's quite the marvelous sight, isn't it?" Port said through the earpiece.

"SHIT!" I yelled in surprise

"What's the matter?! Are you being attacked?!" Port asked me through the earpiece.

"What the hell!? Give me a warning when you're going to talk next time!" I yelled "Wait...I had this thing off! How in the h-"

Port cut me off "Ah, yes. Sorry, I forgot to mention that the earpiece can work both ways. I can contact you from Beacon, and you can contact me through the Emerald Forest." Port said through the earpiece

"That would been nice to know beforehand!" I yelled

"Yes, well have you made your way towards the Control Center?" Port asked

"No, at least not yet. This place is like a maze, but I think I'm getting close" I said

"Splendid! Let me know when you get there, and remember, be careful. You never know when there's a Grimm ready to pounce on you at any moment."Port cautioned.

"Yeah, I got it" I said "I'll let you know if I find anything"

"Great. I'll be waiting to hear from you." Port said as he cut off the connection.

I sighed "Alright...where was I-?" I ted to say

The sound of Fliss cut me off "Warning! Incoming Hostiles!"

I whipped my head around to hear the sound of growling, just beyond the tree-line. "Of course there are." I said to myself, the blade springing out of my gauntlet

(Timeskip) Emerald Forest (My POV)

After taking care of the few packs of Creeps and Beowolves, I finally arrives towards a small cave entrance, where the map was pointing me towards. Seems like whatever was jamming the Security Network, was in there

"Please don't be infested with Grimm. Please don't be infested with Grimm" I muttered as I walked into the cave. After severals seconds of walking, I had made my way towards the Control Centre. But as I got closer, I noticed a strange object on it. The object was a black case with some sort of symbol on it

The symbol resembled that of an "M", being surrounded by an amino acid structure...what? I took science class before I died, and it was helluva lot more interesting than math!

"But...I haven't seen that symbol before in the show...I'd better send some pictures to Port" I said, as I took out my scroll and took a few pictures from different angles.

I then dialled Port "Ah, hello Christian! Have you found anything suspicious yet?"

"Yeah, there's a strange device on the Control Center. I just sent you some pictures. Do you know what it is?" I asked

"Hmm, looks like some sort of strange foreign object" Port said

Thanks, Captain Obvious!

"I feel like I've seen that symbol before" Port said

"Really? Where?" I asked

"Warning! Incoming Hostiles!" Fliss warned

I whipped my head around the cave to pinpoint wherever the Grimm was hiding, only to be met with growls that echoed throughout the cave, making it hard to pinpoint their exact location

"Never mind that! Defend the Control Center while I undo the damage. There should be a place for you to insert your scroll. Insert your scroll in the slot and defend the Control Center!" Port commanded.

"Got it" I said, as I looked for the slot to insert my scroll "Found it!" I said as I inserted my scroll into the slot

Just then, the multiple points in the ground exploded that surrounded the Control Center, and out came a horde of Creeps

I brought out my gauntlet, as the blade sprung out "Whoever wants to die first, raise your...claws" I yelled at the wave of Creeps. All of the Creeps charged at me. I first rolled under the two that were about to strike and slash repeatedly atthe Creep that was behind the two that attacked me, before stabbing it in the chest. I whipped around and slashed my blade at the two Creeps behind me, both of them shrieked out in pain.

I stabbed the Creep on the right in the head, before cutting the Creep on the left with a single slash of my sword. I then turned around to see the last Creep charging. Before it managed to lunged, I kicked it in the head, before stabbing it through the chest

"How are we doing, Port!?" I yelled into my earpiece

"I'm about a quarter of a way done! Just keep holding them off." Port said.

All of a sudden, a pack of more Creeps pop out of the ground, along with two Alpha Creeps. The Creeps shrieked in anger, and charged towards me, with the intent of tearing me to pieces. One of the Creeps jumped in the air, before diving towards the ground, making it's way underneath the earth, planning to kill me that way.

Using that opportunity, killing two birds with one stone, or in this case one slash. I grabbed one of the Creeps that was charging towards me into place, waiting for the Creep that went underground to pop up. I felt the ground start to shake, meaning it was about to come up. I then pushed the Creep that I was holding into the path that the Creep had traveled underground.

The Creep suddenly bursted out of the ground, launching the other Creep up in the air. I jumped towards both of the Creeps, cutting them both in half

On the way down, I stabbed at one of the Creeps below me, then slashed in the direction of another one, cutting it in half. The two Alpha's roared as both of them charged at me. One goes in for an attack, as I rolled underneath before delivering a barrage of slashes at the second. The Alpha howled in pain, as the jewel in my gauntlet glowed. I then brought down my Buster Enchantment to finish it off. I whipped my head to see that the final Alpha had jumped in the air and had his claws out

I ducked under it's attack as I brought my blade up, slicing it in half as it struck the ground

"Port! How about now!?" I yelled

"Halfway there!" Port shouted

The sound of growling echoed throughout the cave, I whipped my head to see a pack of Beowolves crawling down from the rocks

"Well, hurry the fuck up already!" I yelled, as I charged towards the pack of Beowolves. The first one reeled it's claws back, but before it struck, I ducked underneath and sliced it's arm off from its body. The Beowolf howled in pain before being quickly silenced when I stabbed it in the chest. I turned around, to deal with the other three. One of the Beowolves reeled his claw back, I stepped out of he way of the first swing of the Beowolf's claw.

However, that left me open to the other Beowolfs attacks, it swung it's claw at me, sending me flying towards the wall with a loud thud before getting back. The Beowolf that struck me charged, reeling his claws back once more, however I managed to duck before cutting it's jaw and snout in two. The Beowolf howled in pain as I stabbed it through it's heart, killing it instantly

The last two Beowolves didn't waste any more time before they charged at me, coming in for another attack. I run at the two, ducking and slashing that their abdomens. They both howled in pain, but before they could make a move. I quickly got in between them and did a circle slash motion, cutting the two Beowolves in half

"Port! It's now or never!" I yelled

"Just a few more minutes" Port yelled back through the scroll

More growling could be heard in the distance, I whipped my head and saw two Alpha Beowolves enter the caves, however one of them was noticeably bigger than the other

"Is this place listed on Tinder or something!?" I yelled

The smaller of the two Alphas rushed at me with incredible speeds, much faster than the other Beowolves I've faced. I barely managed to dodged it's oncoming slash, as I began to deliver a barrage of slashes. It howled in pain as in fell over, but with incredible speed, it quickly recovered and slammed it's massive claws at me, sending me flying towards the caves walls, hitting it with a loud thud. As I got up, the smaller Beowolf didn't waste anytime to charge at me

It reeled it's massive claws back, but before it could sink it's claws in me, I quickly ducked out of the way, making it's claw go into the wall instead. As I got clear, I noticed that the Beowolf was...struggling and pulling. Apparently the Beowolf applied enougn force to its attack that its arm was now stuck in the caves wall.

I shrugged as the jewel in the gauntlet glowed once more. I quickly activated the Buster Enchantment and sliced the Beowolf's arm off. The Beowolf howled in pain as it stumbled backwards. Using that opportunity, I sliced it's abdomen in half. The ground suddenly shook, I turned around to see the bigger Beowolf charge. From the looks of it, this one was a lot more slower than the other one, but could've been a lot stronger.

The Beowolf reeled it's massive claws back, but before it could strike, I rolled out of the way of its oncoming attack. I quickly got back up and slashed it's ankles and to get it on its knees. The Beowolf howled in pain as it kneeled on the ground. Using that opportunity, I climbed on-top its back. Furious, the Beowolf began to shake it's body back and forth, attempting to shake me off. Using my blade on my gauntlet, I stabbed it into its back to keep my footing. It howeled in pain once more as it slumped forwards. Using that opportunity, the jewel glowed once more as I used my Buster Enchantment and sliced the Beowolf's head off

.

.

I slumped backwards onto a nearby wall, the blade retracting back into my gauntlet. I looked around and waited for anymore Grimm to show up, but thankfully there was nothinG. Looks like I was able to kill most of the Grimm in the area

But before I could continue my thoughts any further, the sound of Port cut me off "And done! Bravo, young lad! Bravo! The security network in this region is in shipshape once again. I'll get some of sour staff to see f they can find anything about that mysterious symbol. Excellent work!"

"Thanks..." I said in between breaths "...Now...where's the Bullhead going to pickk me up?"

"Unfortunately..." Port trailed off "You're not done yet"

.

.

"Wait...what do you mean I'm not done?" I asked

"There is still one more security network that is in desperate need of repair" Port said

I meantally sighed as I "slammed" my head against the wall "Of course..." I muttered

"Are you sure you can still keep going?" Port asked trough the scroll

"Yeah, I can keep going" I reluctantly said, as I got back up

"Splendid!" Port said through the scroll "I see that you have the will and determination of a true Huntsman! I'm sending you coordinates to your scroll now"

"Updating Map" Fliss through the scroll said

I glanced down at my scroll to see the map expanding "Well, at least it's not too far"

"Also, keep an eye out for more clues about who is doing this" Port said

"Will do" I said

But, I think it's best if I just...laid low until I actually got there. Considering I just faced multiple hordes of Grimm, I'm gonna need some rest. I sighed, as I placed the scroll into my pocket and headed out of the cave, on my way to fix the second Control Center

(Timeskip) Emerald Forest (My POV)

About twenty minutes have passed since my fight in the cave. Right now, I was just hiding in the trees, considering I fought horde after hordes of Grimm! But, hiding from the Grimm wasn't too hard. If one was coming my direction, I would throw a rock or something in the opposing directioN.

But, I eventually stopped at some sort of temple, it was filled to the brim with ancient carvings, and even more of those disappointing vases. I looked over to the right and saw a a bridge, with a very large gear right next to it. I looked down to see a lever, presumably used to lower the bridge

"Hmm, I know it's a stretch, but maybe you can operate that mechanism to extend the bridge." Port said, through the scroll

"I don't know. It looks pretty old to me" I said

I mean, it looks like it'll fall apart with the slightest touch!

"Like I said, it's a stretch" Port said through the scroll

I shrugged as I walked towards the small lever below the gear. And to my surprise, it still works. The bridge began to descended, allowing me access to the path in front of me. "HA! It worked!" Port cheered

But before I stepped one foot on the bridge, the voice of Fliss made me stop "Warning! Incoming Hostiles!"

"And... seemed to attract some Grimm. Luckily, it doesn't look like there are that many of them, though. Well, happy hunting!" Port said.

.

.

"FFFFUUUUCCCCK!' I mentally screamed, as I turned around to see Four Boarbatusks waiting for me at the other side of the bridge. One of the Boarbatusks huffed, slammed one of it's hooves on the ground and charged

Okay...so they have no amour under their bellies. All I need to do is knock them over and stab them. Shouldn't be too hard...right?

My train of thought was cut off, when the Boarbatusk was getting loser. In response, my blade popped out of the gauntlet, brought it up and blocked the Boarbatusks attack. I then pushed the blade, making the Boarbatusk stumbling backwards, eventually falling on its back. I quickly ran towards the fallen Grimm and drove my blade into it's gut, killing it

"Huh...that wasn't hard" I muttered

The sound of the two Boarbatusks made me whip my heads towards them, where I saw two of them curling up into a ball, eventually launching themselves towards me

I looked behind me and noticed that I was close to the edge of the ruin, which happened to be right next to a cliff. An idea sparked into my head asI stood my ground and waited for the two spinning Boarbatusks to come closer, before I rolled out of the way. The two Boarbatusks then rolled off down the cliff, and into the forest below.

"Now shouldn't you all have seen that coming?" I said as I turned towards the last Boarbatusk. The last one began to charge at me. I got ready to do what I did to the first one, only for it to jump, curled into a ball and spun

"...Clever bitch" I muttered as the Boarbatuck knocked both us towards the edge of the cliff. But before I could fall off, I felt something hold onto the back of my pants as I saw the final Boarbatusk fall into the forest below, branches snapped before a loud thud could be heard

I sighed in relief as I glanced up to see what had caught me. What I saw was a grey, smokey-like tail with the tip grabbing a nearby ledge. I guess Viserion manifested a "Spirit-Tail" before I managed to fall. I suddenly felt myself being pulled up by the Spirit-Tail, just enough for me to grab onto the ledge and pulled myself up

"It's about time you came!" I shouted "Why do you always appear at the last second!?"

.

.

I sighed "Silence...as usual...maybe give me a side of WINGS with that!" I said, empathizing on the word "wings"

.

.

.

"Oh course" I muttered "Well...at least I'm almost there"

"Well done! Excellent work!" Port said through the scroll, mking me jump slightly "Now, onwards! We have a security network to fix!"

"Yeah, let's just get this done and over with" I said as I walked across the bridge towards the Control Center

(Timeskip) Emerald Forest (My POV)

After several minutes of walking and fighting, I had finally made my way towards the second Control Center. From what it looked like, it had the same object on it as the previous Control Center did. But what stood out the most this time, that there were a series of cages in the area

They also contained the same symbol as the object on the Control Center, and they looked large enough...to fit a Grimm.

I immediately took out my scroll, took a few pictures and sent them to Port "I might as well call him" I muttered as I called him to give him an update on the situation

"Hello? Ah, Brandon! Have you arrived safely at the Control Center?" Port asked.

"I did. But I found these cages right next to the Control Center. I already sent you pictures of them" I said

"Just as I thought, more sabotage from our friend with the symbol. But those cages... was someone trying to capture Grimm?" Port asked

"Seems like it" I said "But, what for?"

"Hrm... I don't like the looks of this. For now, let's just focus on our objective. Insert the scroll into the slot in the machine." Port instructed.

I nodded and put the scroll into the machine. All of a sudden, I hear a loud shriek coming from within the forest.

"Warning! Incoming Hostiles!" Fliss warned "Warning! Threat Level's Rising!"

Okay, that's new! And it's defiantly not the good type of new either!

My blade popped out of it's gauntlet. The jewel glowed as I got ready to intercept whatever was coming towards me. Whatever it was, it was big, possibly bigger than all of the Grimm I've fought in the forest

The ground shook as I saw a massive shape just behind the tree-line. As it got closer, I could see what it was. It had ha jet-black exoskeleton underneath several large, white, bonelike plates upon its back, which are adorned with red markings. It had a total of ten, red eyes and large pincers. But most noticeably, is that it had a large, glowing stinger on its tail.

This was a Deathstalker...and a very large one at that

"A Deathstalker! Be careful, young lad! While it doesn't appear to be an alpha, it still shouldn't be taken lightly. Defend the Control Center and whatever you do, don't let it's venom touch you!" Port warned through the speaker

"Tell him that!" I yelled, as the Deathstalker charges, knocking trees over like toothpicks as it made it's way towards me. It reeled back one of its massive pincers at me. I barely had enough time to dodge, only for it to swing its other massive pincer, sending me flying towards a sone pillar

"Okay...that hurt...that really fucking hurt" I muttered. The Deathstalker charges once more, swing one of its pincers at me once more. But instead of rolling backwards, I rolled forwards, so that way I was out of the other claws reach. I moved forwards and delivered a barrage of slashe to the Deathstalker, only for my blade to bounce off its armour each time. I'm not even making a scratch on it!

Fuck! It's not working! I have to try something else! I shook my head as I changed my strategy, instead of focusing on the main body, I should go for some of its more..."softer spots". I charged towards the Deathstalker and stabbed it in one of its many eyes. The Scorpion Grimm howled in pain as it swung it's massive tail towards me, knocking me back towards a series of trees

"Great...now its pissed!" I muttered. But as I got back up, the Death stalker wasted no time and charged once more, one of it's pouring out black smoke

"Shit!" I shouted as I jumped out of the way of its tail before it could stab me. As I got back up, I saw that the Deathstalker had gotten its tail stuck in the ground, just like the Beowolf and its claw back in the cave. At first, I wanted to sever its stinger from its tail, but that would be freeing it. I mean sure, I would have a small advantage, but its armour is still too thick

The gem in my gauntlet glowed once more then diminished

Crap! I got to do something about this excess energy! Otherwise I'd be breaking my arm ag-...What was is that Ozpin said?...Let the energy build up?

Ozpin knew the risks of doing that...but what if there was another way around it?

I took in a deep breath, as the jewel in the gauntlet glowed a third time. But this time, I began to focus the power towards my right hand. Soon after, small, blue sparks began to form in the palm of my hand, eventually forming into a small, blue orb that was pulsating with royal energy

"Okay...what does it d-?" I tired to say

But I was suddenly cut off when I heard the ground began to crack. I whipped my head towards the Deathstalker to see that it had gotten its tail free from the ground. It wasted no time as it charged towards me once more

"Alright, I guess its now or never" I muttered as I opened my hand, reeled back my arm and then thrusted my arm forwards, launching the orb from my palm

Dust began to pick up as the grass began to blow in the direction of the orb. The Deathstalker roaed in confusion as the orb suddenly struck it, enveloping it in a massive explosion. The Deathstalker could only roar out in pain as it was consumed by the flames

And as the fires diminished, nothing was left, the Deathstalker was killed.

My knees started to shake as I collapsed to the ground, barely catching myself. Whatever I just did, took a lot out of me than what I was hoping for. I slowly got back on my feet as I stumbled my way back towards the Control Center "Hey...Port...I killed...the Deathstalker" I said in between breaths

"Well done Christian!" Port praised through the scroll "We're just about finished, and just received a report"

"Wait...a report on what?" I asked in a tired tone

"It's a report on the unknown symbol" Port explained through the scroll "It turns out that symbol we've been seeing belongs to Merlot Industries"

"...What Industries?" I asked

"I'm not surprised you haven't heard about it, this was far beyond your time. Merlot Industries was an old research and development corporation. The company was crippled by the collapse of Mountain Glenn, where they lost their primary facility and chief staff members. They never recovered from the incident and eventually shut down." Port explained through the scroll

"Wait, if they were shut down. Then why is their technology suddenly appearing this deep in the Emerald Forest?" I asked

"Hmm, I don't know. We'll have to look into it more. For now, you've completed your objective. Congratulations! Your first mission was a success! I'm sending a Bullhead to come and pick you up when you get back at Beacon. Report to Professor Ozpin's office when you arrive. He would like to see you." Port said.

"See you soon" I said as I cut off the connection

.

.

.

"Wait...where was I meeting the Bullhead?" I asked to no one in particular "...Don't tell me I have to walk all the way back to the drop zone!?"

Unknown (3rd Person POV)

Meanwhile, on an island just outside of Vale, there was an abandoned warehouse. Inside the warehouse was a mysterious man, who was currently contemplating on the recent events that have just transpired.

"Hmm, this is most intriguing. This boy will prove to be a useful test subject." The mysterious man said as he took a sip of his red wine.

"Just wait, Ozpin, soon all of Vale will crumble before my creations." He said with a sinister laugh. "Then everyone will know the name of Merlot Industries."

(Timeskip) Beacon Academy, Beacon Tower (My POV)

After waiting for the Bullhead to pick me up, I was immediately dropped back off at Beacon. It would've been nice if I headed back towards my dorm and took a small nap, but hey, Port said I needed to head to Ozpins office. I guess he wants me to fill in Ozpin on the situation, so I guess it can wait

The elevator made a slight ding as the doors opened, revealing Ozpin who was once more sitting at his desk "Ah, Mr. Pendragon! I'm glad to see you made it back in one piece"

"Yeah, anyways what do you want n-" I tried to say, but cut myself off when I saw Professor Peach sitting in a chair in-front of his desk. "Professor Peach!" I said in surprise

"Ah! Hello, Brandon! Congratulations on your first successful mission! Weird that Merlot Industries is suddenly popping up now." Peach said.

"Wait. How do you-" I tried to say

Professor Ozpin cut me off "Peter informed us awhile ago."

"Oh...okay." I said.

.

Wait a minute.

"Wait...if you didn't need me to inform you...then why did you call me up here?" I asked

"For the same reason Peach is up here." Ozpin said

.

.

That doesn't sound good

"What do you mean the same reason as Peach?" I asked

Peach stood up "Well you see, I'm going to be going on a Dust expedition in Atlas tomorrow."

"Okay...but what does that have to do with me?" I asked

"Well, I just had a little chat with Ozpin, and he agreed to let you come with me to Atlas for my next expedition!"

.

.

"I'm sorry, what?!" I yelled.

Disclaimer: I know that I may have caused some confusion with the introduction of Merlot Industries so early, considering it appears after the events of Volume Two. But like Quebec's story, Merlot is going to be like a "Practise Villains" before Cinder in Volume Three and beyond
