Tony held Bruce's hand the whole way to the hospital. He still had some anxiety about going into public spaces, especially places of authority. It stemmed back from the days when he couldn't trust anyone and had to keep constant watch over his shoulder whilst trying to keep Hulk under control. Things were easier now and Bruce could relax more, mostly thanks to Tony.
The ambulance had unsurprisingly beaten them there. Bruce reached Remus' room first and discovered that he was already in a bed and getting checked over by doctors and nurses. His three companions had been pushed to the back of the room until it was concluded that Remus was very lucky to not have broken anything and seemed to be in good health, other than a few scrapes, bruises and a mild concussion.
"I'm glad to hear your friend will be alright," Bruce offered to the trio around the hospital bed once he was allowed into the room.
"Thank you," Harry replied with a smile, "we are too," he lent into Severus who curled an arm around Harry's waist drawing him closer, Bruce noticed the slightly disapproving look Sirius gave them but it wasn't his place to pry.
Tony, Stephen and Nick joined them then, all cramming into the small hospital room; it was not made for eight people and a bed.
Stephen spoke first, getting straight to it, "So we think that all of the anomalies should stay stable for a couple of days at least, the one we came through had good readings and I would take a guess that the rest are the same since they have appeared together like that. Ideally, it would be good to go back and take readings of each one to be sure. I'm not sure that will be possible but we don't want anyone stranded in the wrong universe either."
"So you're sure that we are all from different universes? We haven't just travelled to a different place on Earth?" Bruce asked.
"That would be our best guess," Nick answered.
A doctor came to the door then, a concerned look on his face as he picked his way through the room to get to Sirius, "I need to ask you if your partner has any blood conditions or diseases, anything he has already been diagnosed with?"
Sirius' face went blank as he answered, "Uh, no, none that I know of."
"Right, we'll need to do some more tests then, there's something very odd about Mr. Lupin's blood and I need to make sure it isn't something serious before he can be discharged," the doctor told them with a frown, "I'll send a nurse in to collect some samples," he turned and took the same path out of the room.
Harry, Severus and Sirius all shared concerned looks as the doctor exited.
"So, what is wrong with your friend's blood?" Tony inquired, being nosy as always, "it's obvious you're hiding something."
"How dare you accuse us of anything, you don't know us and we don't know you, we don't owe you anything," Severus' voice was cold and authoritative like he was talking to a class of students.
"Bruce is a doctor, and a scientist, as am I, among other things. We could help," Tony tried again, growing weary of Severus.
"Remus has had this condition since he was a child, there is no cure, he must live with it month after month. We just try to make it easier for him," Sirius answered staring into his partner's face and smoothing his hair a little.
"Well, I'd say my door is always open, but since we live in different universes that could be a little difficult, but if you change your mind before we leave we're happy to help," Tony offered.
"Thank you, Tony," Harry said dismissing the conversation.
"I guess we should go give our statements to the Sheriff and find somewhere to stay for the night," Bruce announced sensing they should leave, "we'll come back and check on you guys in the morning," he promised.
The four men said their goodbyes and left to find the Sheriff who was finishing up with Stiles and Derek. The Sheriff dismissed them and they went to talk to a middle aged, dark haired nurse that they seemed to know, she looked like one of the nurses who was looking after Remus.
As they walked towards Sheriff Stilinski, Bruce wondered if they would be able to pay for a hotel here or if their money would be seen as fraudulent. How much was truly different in this universe?
Each of the four men recounted in turn what they saw happen, although saying why they were out there in the first place was a little more difficult, luckily Nick had an answer to that; scientific research. The Sheriff had this look on his face like he knew Nick was lying but was so used to being lied to at this point that he didn't argue and just wrote it down. That made Bruce curious but not enough to ask about it, he just wanted to lie down and relax, maybe meditate, it had been a long day.
Once the Sheriff was as satisfied as he was going to get he said they could leave and so they left, and got about as far as the front of the building before they realised that they had no idea where to go or how to get there.
Stephen glanced around and noticed a paramedic so he jogged over to the man. After a brief conversation, he returned with good news, "Apparently there is a good priced hotel just down this street, it was built specifically to be close to the hospital."
The relief was apparent on everyone's faces.
"Shall we then?" Bruce gestured down the street.
Everyone nodded and they began the short walk down the paved sidewalk to the hotel as darkness fell around them and the street lights came on. It wasn't the fanciest hotel ever but at least it wasn't one of those gross pay by the hour ones that Bruce had had to stay in a few times too many whilst in hiding. He chuckled thinking to himself that this was probably the worst hotel that Tony had ever even looked at. It was incredible how different they were, yet how well they worked together; in the lab, in the field and in a relationship.
The four men filed through the door to reception, a bell jingled atop the glass door from the movement, and the young lady at the desk looked up from her computer screen.
"Hello, how can I help you?" she asked.
"Hi, we are in need of two rooms I'd say, one for us," Nick motioned to Stephen and himself, "and one for these two, please," he gestured to Bruce and Tony, they nodded.
Tony was a bit distracted looking around at the décor with a slightly appalled look on his face.
"Okay, one bed or two?" she clarified.
"One," Nick and Bruce spoke at the same time.
The receptionist tapped away on her keyboard, "Great, how many nights are you staying with us?" was the next question.
The four men looked at each other, "Um, we aren't sure actually, this was rather unexpected," Nick told her.
"No problem, you can pay night by night then if that suits you gentlemen?"
"Sure- shit!" Nick swore under his breath "we only have UK money. Uh, never mind then, sorry."
"Not a problem, I've got it." Tony told them handing over his card to the woman with a charming smile.
Bruce rolled his eyes; Tony was such an automatic flirt with everyone, he just had such charisma, it was something Bruce had come to realise and had accepted over time.
Then Tony's card declined and his smile dropped. Before Tony could have a fit, Bruce pulled out cash from his wallet and handed it to the woman hoping it would be accepted. He held his breath while she counted it, the suspense gave him anxiety but finally she looked at Bruce and smiled.
"Thank you, here are your room keys, they are on the ground floor next to each other. Oh, and some takeaway menus in case you're hungry," she handed the two couples a few menus of various cuisines that would deliver to the hotel, "enjoy your stay."
Bruce exhaled relief, he always kept cash on him just in case, he didn't like having a paper trail for anything, it could be too easily traced if he ever needed to disappear.
The four men accepted the keys and menus then left the reception office to find their rooms, Tony still examining his card wondering why it had betrayed him, he could count on one hand the times that his card had ever declined.
"We don't exist here Tony, so of course your card isn't valid," Bruce told him, stroking his back.
"Right, of course, I already knew that," Tony tried to shrug it off like it was nothing, but Bruce could see it was scaring him a little that he had nothing here.
"It's okay, Tony, I'm here and we will be back home soon," Bruce took Tony's hand and squeezed it, "I'm honestly just glad that my money was accepted."
"So are we, thank you," Stephen interjected, Nick nodded in agreement and put an arm around his waist as they walked along the concrete path to their rooms.
They arrived at the numbered doors that corresponded with their keys; they looked pleasant enough from the outside, little gardens with solar path lights lined the pathways to the generic coloured doors. The two couples looked awkwardly at each other.
"Well, I guess we'll see you two in the morning," Stephen spoke first relieving the awkwardness.
"I'd like to discuss these 'anomalies' more tomorrow, get a better understanding of them, maybe two fresh pairs of eyes will help with your research. I mean, I am a genius," Bruce rolled his eyes for the second time that evening as Tony told them he was a genius, he just couldn't help himself and he was used to being the biggest fish, not to mention brain, in the room. If people were around Tony needed attention.
"Honestly, at this point it can't hurt," Nick said almost like he felt a bit defeated by the whole thing, "we'll bring you up to speed over breakfast then head to the hospital to check in with the other lot."
"Agreed, sleep tight," Tony accepted and Bruce nodded in a silent temporary farewell.
"Goodnight," Nick and Stephen said in unison.
Both couples unlocked their doors and were about to step over the threshold when they heard howling in the distance. They all stopped and looked into the darkness and then at each other.
"That's strange," Nick commented.
"You took the words right out of my mouth," Tony replied unconsciously reaching out for Bruce.
"I think we better lock our doors and stay aware," suggested Stephen, "we don't know what dangers could be in this universe."
Bruce's eyes showed a little too much white, "Will do."
On that note, they went into their rooms and locked the doors securely behind them.
After picking which side of the bed he wanted and browsing through the menus, Tony decided they should have pizza, and Bruce let him (even though he felt like Chinese). That was when they discovered that their phones didn't have service, even JARVIS was offline. Bruce used the landline in their room to order the pizza while Tony bathed in the too small bathroom.
They swapped when Tony was done and the pizza arrived as Bruce was drying himself with a white standard hotel towel. Tony had complained that they were scratchy but Bruce had used worse; at least these ones didn't have holes in them.
The pizza was actually pretty good, half pepperoni for Tony and half vegetarian for Bruce. They laid on the bed, Tony in just his pants and Bruce in his towel, and demolished the pizza as they realised how long it had been since they'd last eaten.
Tony had just finished his half and readjusted to a more comfortable position when he said suggestively, "I think you should take the towel off."
Bruce just stared at him, a little shocked, "I honestly thought you would be up all night trying to figure all this out."
"Is that a no?" there was a tiny trace of disappointment in Tony's voice.
"No, I'm just surprised you're more interested in sex right now than figuring this out," Bruce admitted as he lifted his waist off of the bed and unwrapped the towel, sliding it off. He finished the last bite of his pizza and made a show of cleaning his fingers; slowly licking and sucking them while maintaining eye contact.
Tony's breath hitched, "I haven't really got many solid facts until breakfast, no equations, just wild guesses. Not much to build on yet. And you've been laying in just a towel for the last twenty minutes, that's just teasing in itself," he swallowed hard, his eyes never left Bruce's fingers and mouth as he spoke, his own hands pulling his pants off.
Bruce got up and cleared off the bed. He found his pants and pulled a little pouch out of a pocket; he took out a capsule and swallowed it with some water. A while ago Tony had designed a capsule that Bruce could take which basically allowed them to have sex without Bruce hulking out. Bruce had taken to keeping them in his pocket just in case a situation ever arose. Tony happened to love spontaneous sex, in random places; like in his private jet, a bathroom at a charity gala and his office, just to name a few.
Tony laid back on the pillows and wet his hand with spit before beginning to stroke himself, still not taking his eyes off of Bruce's naked form.
Bruce crawled onto the bed and positioned himself on Tony's thighs so he could take over caressing and stroking his partner's length. Tony let out a sigh as Bruce's hands touched him, his pupils dilated and Bruce went in for a searing kiss. The kiss continued for a few moments as Tony grew harder in Bruce's hand.
A finger pressed at Bruce's lips as the kiss ended and he sucked on it, knowing exactly where it was going, and when the slippery digit slid over his hole Bruce shuddered. The finger tested a few times and then worked its way into Bruce, stretching him to eventually fit two and then three saliva slick fingers.
Bruce was gasping and hard as a rock by this stage, his mouth fell onto Tony's hardness, making it slick and ready for him. The moans Tony made urged Bruce on and he moved forward to rise above Tony's needy body then lowered himself slowly until he had taken all of the hard length into him. Bruce settled there for a moment panting slightly. Tony whined with impatience and need, he gripped his partner's cheek and kissed him roughly; biting at his bottom lip. A hand ran down Tony's chest, the nails scratched a nipple and he cried out, his hips tried to thrust upwards but Bruce was firmly planted on top of him.
"Move," Tony growled; his voice deep with lust.
In response, Bruce licked the shell of his right ear.
He was far past turned on at this point, and Tony didn't like to wait for anything, which is why Bruce took the opportunity, when it presented itself, to teach Tony a little patience.
"Move or I will push you off and fuck you into this shitty mattress," Tony threatened.
Bruce smirked then lifted all the way up and dropped himself back down onto Tony.
"Fuck!" Tony gasped.
Then Bruce sat still again, lazily stroking his own cock, Tony glared at him, but it wasn't very scary from his position, "I moved," Bruce told him casually as if he wasn't sitting on the other man's dick and teasing the shit out of him.
"You're such a smartass little shit, Banner," Tony rolled them over in one fluid motion so Bruce was on the bottom, Bruce whined as Tony withdrew from him but then Tony pushed him onto his stomach and immediately thrust back into him with obvious need.
A loud moan escaped Bruce's mouth followed by, "And you fucking love it, Stark."
"God, you turn me into a needy teenager all over again," Tony admitted and bit down on Bruce's shoulder then neck.
"Move!" Bruce ordered but it, and his moan, was muffled by the pillows and Tony moved, he thrust into his partner with abandon; the game was over now and they both just needed that sweet bliss.
Bruce wrapped a hand around his length and tugged it in time with Tony hitting deep inside him, it wasn't long before he could feel the heat rising in his groin. He had never known desire and lust like he did with Tony.
"T-T-Tony…" Bruce whimpered into the pillows.
Tony knew that tone, "I got you," he uttered breathlessly, putting everything into his next few thrusts.
Bruce was gone; his body released into his hand and a long groan expelled from his mouth as his back arched. The muscles contracted inside of Bruce and suddenly Tony was right there with him.
"Shit," Tony gasped trying to pull himself together as he removed himself from his partner and laid flat on his back, "luck- lucky we aren't actually teenagers."
"Why's that?" Bruce inquired still in the same position and panting slowly.
"I'd never let you leave the bed," Tony replied honestly.
Bruce laughed and turned to kiss him softly. He got up and cleaned himself up, chucking Tony a damp cloth.
They weren't teenagers at all; Bruce yawned as they got under the covers and laid his head on Tony's chest. A sleepy smile stretched on Bruce's face as he thought about how Tony had changed his life for the better, and by the time he closed his eyes Tony was already snoring softly.
A howl sounded in the distance and Bruce gripped Tony a little tighter. Eventually, he let sleep take him into dreams about portals to other worlds, glowing eyes and howls in the dark.
