Ruby and Jaune jogged to keep pace with the mysterious figure who had appeared to them and while intimidating Ruby awkwardly attempted to spark a conversation once she had caught up, much to the figures surprise and Jaune's distress.

"So… are you a student here?"

"No, why?"

"Oh, so you're a new applicant like us, huh?"

"Nope what made you think that?"

"Well, you seem to know your way around and…" As Ruby begins to trail off, Jaune nervously takes over,

"Yeah is there like a directory? Maybe a food court? Some sort of recognisable landmark?"
To this, all three chuckled before the figure answered,

"Yeah, I suppose it is kinda confusing at first but don't worry you quickly learn the lay of the land. The cafeteria is the only food place here, but that's towards the right side of the academy and as for how I know my way around well I kinda… sort of… grew up here." The figure reluctantly admitted.

This caused both Ruby and Jaune to brake before both speaking,

"Wait you grew up here?"

The figure scratched his cheek before admitting, "Yeah, I guess I did. See my father is one of the professors here, so I guess having me stay here was easier than having to go into Vale to check on me every day."

At this Ruby's eyes had expanded to dinner plates with stars forming in her pupils before she began rapid-firing questions at the poor male.

"So you dad is a full-fledged Huntsman who teaches here?"
"What does he teach?"
"What's his name?"
"Can I meet him?"
"Ooh, can I get their autograph?"
"Or would that be creepy?"
"So what was growing up in Beacon like?"
"do you know any of the other teachers here?"

"Oh, maybe I can get your autograph?"
"No that's definitely creepy!"

As Ruby continues her barrage of questions, Jaune sees the reaction this is causing and places his on the girl's shoulder before calling her name. Ruby suddenly comes back to reality to realise she had backed the male up against the wall and his piercing red eyes now seemed to swirl in surprise and confusion.

Ruby backed away sheepishly and quickly apologised "Oh sorry guess I got a little carried away there."

"No, it's fine, I guess. So, I'm Talon by the way." At this the two realised they had been too terrified when they first met to form proper introductions, both looking at each other before introducing themselves to the figure they now knew as Talon as Jaune Arc and Ruby Rose respectfully. Talon just nodded respectfully at Jaune's introduction but seemed to take a second scan of the girl after she introduced herself as Ruby Rose before muttering to himself as he observed her. "You have… silver eyes... so, you're the Rose the old man spoke of, thought you'd be taller in all honesty. Meh, guess it just makes you cute like a little button."

Talon then stood back up his full height towering over the two before continuing to walk and call back to the girl,

"If you're the young Ruby then you already met my old man."

To this, Ruby and Jaune quickly followed with Ruby clearly perplexed trying to think back to someone she may have met that fit the bill as the man's father.

"I have?"

"Yeah, couple days back he mentioned meeting you after you broke up some kind of robbery or something. He seemed impressed, so you obviously did something right."

With this single statement Ruby ground to a halt seeming to shake as her mind connected the details of the man Talon was referring too.

"Y-You mean… are you saying… y-you can't mean… but that means…" As the dots finally connected within the girl's brain, she suddenly pointed her finger at Talon before loudly announcing,
"Your dad brought me delicious cookies, wait your dad is Ozpin!? As in Beacon academy headmaster Ozpin… Your Ozpin's son?"

To this Talon Simply nodded as if this was completely normal before concluding his own,
"Oh, so you're the special guest my old man wanted me to bake cookies for," As Talon continued he nervously scratched at the back of his head while offering the seemingly shell shocked girl a kind smile, "I hope you liked them! kinda got the message late so just baked them fresh before shipping them ahead of me, so they arrived in time."

As he finished this, Ruby only seemed even more confused, letting a startled squeak escape her lips before zooming straight in front of the male before staring intently at his eyes.

Seconds later, she kneeled before the male pressing her hands together in a prayer fashion repeatedly begging for him to please, please, please bake her more cookies. This sudden action shocked both Talon and Jaune before Talon quickly blurted out that sure he would, as long as she passes initiation, he'll bake her more to celebrate and with that Ruby's eyes formed into stars before wrapping her arms around the boy's waist repeatedly thanking him.

This, quickly making Talon uncomfortable attempted to remove the girl, but her grip was like that of a vice as he shifted her from left to right he grumpily referred to the girl as a damn spider monkey before sighing in defeat and turning his attention to Jaune ignoring the girl still clinging to his waist Talon quickly invites Jaune in on the celebration,
"So Arc, what about you? You in for a cookie-based celebration after you guy's pass initiation?"

To this, Jaune simply rubbed the nape of his neck before agreeing that sure the idea does sound like fun. To this Talon mutters cool but then refocuses his annoyed gaze on the male before him,
"If you try and hug me as well, I will feed you your own entrails."

To this Jaune awkwardly laughs off the threat before assuring Talon that he is okay with just verbally thanking him, eliciting a simple nod from Talon as the two males then resumed walking down the hallway the taller of which just dragging the girl still pinned to his waist behind him as they walked into the auditorium they were to meet at.

As the group entered Yang quickly turned her attention and called out to her sister before realising that her younger sister was clinging to another individual who seemed to be rubbing their hand along their face in frustration.
"Hey, Rubes I saved you a… huh."

With this Yang sauntered over to the group before slightly kneeling, bringing her face down to her sister's eye level and questioning her on exactly what she was doing however Ruby did not respond to her sister's call seemingly lost in thought.

The figure turned his attention to Yang before she locked her lilac eyes with his seemingly frustrated deep crimson ones. The two stared at one another for a few moments before Talon sighed and requested help in removing the 'spider monkey' from him. Yang simply gave a sympathetic look before peeling her sister from the figure much to her sister frustration. As Yang holds the now pouting Ruby up by the hood before putting her down and remarking that when she said to make friends, she didn't mean quite like this.

Ruby quickly blurted out that he helped her when she got lost, and he makes great cookies. He also promised to make her more cookies and… but before the small girl continued her mile a minute 'explanation' Yang placed her hand over the girl's mouth forcing her to slow down and take a breath so that Yang could talk to her.

"How's your first day going, little sister?" but to this Ruby once again pouted before crossing her arms, turning her head away from her kin and firing back,

"You mean since you ditched me and I exploded!?"

"Yikes, meltdown already?" and while the two argued Talon and Jaune simply opted to join the crowd not wanting to be involved.

Ruby explained to her older sister while remembering the events of earlier today, "No, I literally exploded a hole in the front of the school, and there was fire… and I think some Ice."

"Are you being sarcastic?" the Blonde sang out as she paid attention to her sister's recollection of the events' seeming to take her sister's story with perhaps a pinch or two of salt.

"Ugh, I wish" Ruby scoffs before continuing that she had tripped over some crabby girl's luggage, who yelled at her before Ruby then sneezed and then exploded before the girl yelled at her again.

"I said I was sorry and I felt really, really bad! And I just wanted her to stop yelling at me!"

"YOU!" An annoyed yell comes out from behind the two girls as Ruby dives into her older sister's arms before calling out "Oh Oum, it's happening again!"

Yang, while still holding Ruby, turns to meet the White-haired heiress behind them as Weiss continues in her annoyed tone, "You're lucky we weren't blown off the side of the cliff!"

At this, Yang realises, her sister is telling the truth before placing her back down onto her feet.

"Oh my Oum you really exploded, didn't you."

It was an accident Ruby attempts to defend as the White-haired heiress produces from her sleeve a closed brown pamphlet labelled 'Dust for dummies and other Inadequate Individuals' before launching into a speedy clearly pre-rehearsed speech regarding safety and legal liability while handling products produced and sold by her family's company.

"The Schnee Dust Company is not responsible for any injuries or damages sustained while operating a Schnee Dust Company product. Although not mandatory, the Schnee Family highly encourages their customers to read and familiarise themselves with this easy to follow guide to Dust applications and practices in the field."

After finishing her speech to the confused Ruby, Weiss continues in a more slow and sarcastic tone,
"You really want to start making things up to me?"

At this Ruby quickly replies absolutely before the brown pamphlet is pushed into her chest by the heiress as she continues,

"Read this and don't ever speak to me again."

Yang upon seeing her sister's rapidly decaying situation attempts to smooth things out with the two by bringing up that maybe they got off on the wrong foot and that they should try starting over with the whole friends' thing, to this Ruby quickly agrees reintroducing herself as Ruby Rose to the snobbish heiress stood before her and suggesting maybe they can hang out together sometime. However, the heiress does not seem to be convinced with the concept and sarcastically proposes,

"Yeah, we can paint our nails, and try on clothes, and talk about cute boys like tall; dark and broody or tall; blonde and scraggly over there." At this Weiss gestures to Talon and Jaune still standing in the crowd however while Talon disregards what the heiress said and doesn't turn around, Jaune seems surprised not realising the Schnee's sarcasm and attempting to walk over to the group but his stopped by Talon's hand on his shoulder while rolling his eyes and shaking his head at the now deflated boy.

As the three girls continue a microphone clearing is heard overhead causing all students to direct their attention to the stage as professors Ozpin, and Goodwitch stand in the centre of the stage.

"Ahem… I'll keep this brief.

You have travelled here today in search of knowledge. To hone your craft and acquire new skills. And when you have finished, you plan to dedicate your life to the protection of the people. But I look amongst you, and all I see is wasted energy in need of purpose, direction.

You assume knowledge will free you of this, but your time at this academy will prove that knowledge can only carry you so far. It is up to you to take the first step."

As Ozpin finishes and backs away, Goodwitch steps forward to advise the students they will be sleeping in the ballroom tonight and that they should get some rest and be ready as the initiation begins first thing tomorrow morning.

After this is concluded, both professors turn and walk away, but Jaune notices Talon seemingly lost in thought while staring at the stage. Jaune decides to mention that his father seemed kind of out it during the speech, but to this Talon merely hums and states that something seems unusual about this particular year of students.

As Jaune now begins to fret and worry over the cryptic messages from both the younger and older Ozpins and what the future holds the pair are quickly joined by Ruby and Yang with the older sister asking if something is wrong. The younger sister also bringing up if anyone else noticed that professor Ozpin seemed as though he wasn't even there during the speech.

To this, Talon remains stoic while explaining to the group, "It's not necessarily something bad or good, but there is something apparent going on with this year. Cogs of something major are moving into place, both me and my old man feel it, which is what is causing his current distraction. But only time will tell what those cogs connect to and what the future can hold for all of us."

As the group try to decipher the enigmatic messages Talon's expression seems to drop to one of neutral boredom before he informs them,

"Welp nothing we can do, I'm gonna go lie down, later."

At the sudden attitude change then exit the group still seem just as lost before Yang loudly sighs and adds that she hates it when people are like that, and the trio then proceeds with the rest of the students towards the large ballroom based at the left of the academy.
