Chapter 8 It's time for me to step down and you back up

When they got to Robotropolis Sonic was mentally shaking but hiding it the best he could.

When they got to Eggman's Base Shadow looked back and forth then nodded and they ran to the door.

When they got to the door they tried to figure out how to open it.

"Sonic, I need you to turn into a ball and go through the door. That way we can get in." he said.

Sonic nodded, backed then started running, jumped and was able to go through it and get the door open.

Then they all ran inside and followed Shadow.

Then Sonic heard something he recognized and turned around to see light coming.

"Get down!" he yelled then automatically jumped and kicked the screen breaking it.

Everyone looked at him confused about how he knew it.

"I would be here often when I was a Freedom Fighter." he explained and they nodded.

"Let's go." Shadow said and they followed him.

While they walked around to Eggman's lab Sonic was seeing what he used to do.

When he remembered what they had to do and where they have to go he would tell them.

Half an hour later they were half way there when they heard something.

"Hedgehog one two and three located." a Swatbot said.

They backed up a little while other Swatbots came.

'Crap!' they thought together.

Sonic looked at them for a second trying to remember what that kind can do.

Then they started running and Shadow, Tails and Knuckles fought as hard as they could. Sonic, Silver, Blaze and Nebula watched.

When they were on the last one they were covered in cuts and bruises. Then Shadow was shot hard in the chest.

"Ahhhh!" he yelled in pain then was on his back.

"SHADOW!" Sonic yelled then looked at the Swatbot and started running.

Then he jumped, kicked it and it was gone.

He stood there, looked at Tails and Knuckles then heard something and turned around.

Shadow laid there bleeding and coughing.

"Shadow?" Sonic said.

"Sonic, you have to lead them like you used to." Shadow said weak. "I'm not strong enough to do it."

Sonic stood there in shock.

"B-but I can't lead anyone anymore!"

"Yes you can."

"I'll take care of him." Nebula said.

He nodded then looked down at Shadow who nodded.

"You can do it. You lead Team Sonic once, you can do it again." he said.

Sonic took a deep breath and looked at everyone strong like he used to.

"Let's go." he said.

They all nodded and followed him thinking the same thing.

'Is our old hero and leader back?'
