Chapter 9 Aftermath
Its been about a month since the fight at the bending arena and since Malefor was killed due to his own arrogance and since Cinder nearly killed Sean with her Dark Star Saber.
And a month since Sean and Korra finally started dating.
During that time Sean had taken Korra on some dates to the city making her feel special and helped her learn to use magic so bending wouldn't be the only thing she would use and realize her full potential.
She enjoyed every minute of this since that day.
Right now of course they two were on Naga heading for the Arena.
Two nights ago the Arena was attacked by the Equalists who had some high tech gloves that electrocuted the security forces and blew up the arena.
This in turn forced the council to shut the arena
"These guys are getting bold. No different than terrorists." Sean said.
"Only difference is they aren't killing people." Korra said.
"Doesn't matter." Sean said as they came to the crossed off section before getting off and rushed inside.
Inside Mako and Bolin were packing up.
"I still can't believe they're shutting this place down." Mako said.
"Yeah, we had some good memories here, didn't we?" Bolin asked.
"HEY!" Sean yelled as they rushed up.
"Guys, great news. You don't have to go back on the streets. I talked to Tenzin and made all the arrangements. You can come live on air temple island with us." Korra said.
"Oh...Well, we'd love to but..." Mako tried to say.
"Asami already invited us to live in her dad's giant mansion." Bolin said excited.
"Well, you could have told us. I'm surprised she's letting you two stay since none of you are dating her." Sean said making Korra think the same.
"Ah she figured it would be making us even for running me over." Mako said making them laugh.
"Hey it was an accident." Asami said above them.
"I guess you would let them stay with you." Korra said grinning.
"Oh well, Still the offer is on the table when you get sick and tired luxury." Sean said.
"Oh Like you actually got sick and tired of your luxury life?" Asami asked amused.
"Hey I'm more than a rich Avatar comedian scientist you know. I'm also a solider, Agent and various others. Speaking of funny hang on a second." Sean said pulling out a screen before it got bigger. "This was recorded about 3 years ago when me, Will and his best friend Mitchell along with Joker were tearing down an old house to build a new one for private uses. Here watch." Sean said as the video played
The first part showed Will with a beer in hand.
"If I catch one more worker drinking on the job you're fired!" Mitchell yelled making Will scoff before opening the can as Mitchell walked in. "WILL!" Mitchell yelled making him face him.
"Oh no." Will said.
"Oh no." Mitchell said before Sean burst through a wall with a bottle of Whisky in hand.
"OH YEAH!" Sean yelled making everyone in the video burst out laughing. (Thing is this is actually based on a YouTube video called Construction worker breaks through wall by Dailypicksandflicks)
Korra and the others burst out laughing at this making Sean chuckle.
"You weren't actually drunk were you?" Korra asked.
"Hell no. I can't actually get drunk unless it's from the strong shit or drink my own body weight." Sean said making her giggle.
"Well, we'll see you around later." Korra said as the two left.
Later
"All right." Sean said with a new weapon in hand with a target in range.
"New weapon?" Korra asked with Jinora next to her.
"Yup. Explosive rounds. Lets see if she's ready." Sean said crouching before aiming at the target before firing a single shot and hit it but nothing happened.
"I don't think it..." Jinora tried to say before a big explosion went off startling them.
"Oh shit." Joker said.
"Ok thats too much." Sean said taking the mag out before handing it to Taylor who inspected it.
"Yup. Explosive powder needs to be decreased by at least 60%." Taylor said handing it back.
"Fuck." Sean said putting it in a case.
"You hear the news? Cabbage corp has been shut down for the evidence they found linking them to the Equalists. Found those gloves and fliers in the storage area." Korra said.
"Yeah. Kinda strange but these are strange times." Sean said giving the case to Gideon.
"What are you thinking?" Korra asked.
"Ah. Nothing. Lets go visit the others." Sean said.
Later
Pabu was seen jumping into a pool before Bolin was next.
"Earth Bending Bomb!" Bolin said jumping in just as a servant led Sean and Korra into the room.
"Avatar Korra and Avatar Kruger have Arrived."
"Hey, guys." Mako said.
"Glad you could make it." Asami said.
"Welcome to paradise." Bolin said.
"Looks you guys settled right in." Sean said.
"Pretty much. Except someone forgot to ask her father if we could stay here." Mako said looking at Asami.
"Don't tell me your one of the spoiled brats who just expects to have her way?" Sean joked making Korra giggle as did Asami.
"Its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." Asami said.
"Depends on who you're asking." Sean said.
"So, what do. you have planned for us today? Shopping or makeovers?" Korra asked amused.
"Oh good lord." Sean said making Korra giggle.
"Ooh, Ooh, I vote makeovers." Bolin said before Mako dunked him.
"I have something a little more exciting in mind." Asami said.
"Oh dear." Sean said.
Soon the group was outside seeing some race track.
"Pretty cool, huh?" Asami asked.
"Way cooler than a makeover." Korra said.
"HA! Joker would be enjoying since any hillbilly loves racing." Sean said chuckling.
"This is where Future industries test drives their Sato-mobiles. Ever been behind the wheel Sean?" Asami asked.
"I'm more of a bike person." Sean said.
"Is that so?" Asami asked grinning making him raise an eyebrow.
"What are you up to?" Korra asked.
Asami led them into a garage showing an old bike.
"Tell you what. See if you can make something out of this and race." Asami said making him grin before going inside.
"I'll be back." Sean said closing the door making Korra snicker.
"He really is a movie person." Korra said knowing that line.
10 minutes later
(Insert who do you love by George Thorogood and the destroyers)
Slowly opening the garage Sean came out on his motorcylce.
"Whoa!" Bolin said seeing Sean's bike. (Picture Johnny Blaze's bike before it was turned)
"How do you like me now?" Sean asked.
"Oh my god." Korra said laughing.
"Wanna go for a spin?" Sean asked making her grin.
Soon the two and another racer were on the track.
Thats when the flag was waved before Sean and the other driver took off.
Sean laughed as he was in the lead already before coming to a shark turn.
"WHOA!" Korra yelled holding on tight.
"I almost feel like going Ghost Rider in this." Sean said.
"Lets not." Korra said before the other guy came up behind them before Sean hit him making him spin out of control before crossing the finish line.
(End song)
"WHOO-HOO!" Korra cheered as she jumped off.
"That was incredible. Where'd you learn to drive like that?" Asami asked.
"Ah I had a lot of teachers back in the day." Sean said.
Soon they went back inside before Bolin rushed to the bathroom.
"Uh, is there. another bathroom I can use?" Korra asked.
"We have a ladies powder room upstairs. First door on your right." Asami said before Korra rushed up.
After using the bathroom Korra washed her hands before grabbing a beauty product.
Then she hit herself with it making a large cloud of powder making her cough before coming out of the room.
"Having trouble with a beauty product now?" Sean asked leaning against a wall looking amused.
"I'll never understand why girls use that crap." Korra said.
"Ah stupid companies make these things to make women think they can look more beautiful than they already are is the most common case. But you don't need that." Sean said making her grin before pulling his mask down and kissed him.
"No, no, no. Everything is going exactly as planned." Hiroshi said in his office making them raise an eyebrow before they went closer. "Luckily the Cabbage corp investigation has bought us enough time. Trust me, by the end of the week, we'll be ready to strike." Hiroshi said on phone before hanging up making Korra widen her eyes before the two left giving the others an excuse.
Later
The two were meeting with Tenzin and Lin about what they had heard.
"So you two think Mr. Sato manufactured those gloves for the equalists, then framed cabbage corp?" Tenzin asked.
"Basically." Sean said.
"That's a bold accusation. But what proof do you have?" Lin asked.
"All we know is what we heard. He said they'll be ready to strike by the end of the week." Sean said.
"We know what we heard. Sato is up to something." Korra said.
"The only thing I can't understand is why Sato would be working with the Equalists. He doesn't have anything to gain from this." Sean said.
"Well...Thats not exactly true." Lin said.
"What do you mean?" Korra asked.
"12 years before Altair contacted you the Agni Kai triad robbed Sato's mansion. A firebender killed Sato's wife during the break-in." Tenzin said.
"That's terrible." Korra said as Sean held her.
"It was tragic. It's possible he's been harboring Anti-bending sentiment all this time." Tenzin said.
"Maybe we should. look at Mr. Sato a little more closely." Lin said.
"Hmm." Sean said.
Later
After confronting Hiroshi about what he said he merely said he was going to strike the market now that his number one competition was out of the way. Of course they asked to investigate his factories which he had no problem with.
Of course nothing was found to incriminate Hiroshi to anything.
"I don't understand. How could we not find anything?" Korra asked.
"Maybe Hiroshi was being honest." Sean said.
"No...The timing and the fact that Hiroshi has a reason to join them...He's up to something." Korra said.
"Korra, Even though he has a reason doesn't mean he'll do it. We can't just judge people saying they are without having complete proof." Sean said walking to Gideon and Taylor making her sigh before she felt a piece of paper in her hand making her widen her eyes before looking around seeing dozens of people before she read the note.
"Sean." Korra said gaining his attention. "I think you should see this." Korra said handing him the paper.
"If you want to find the truth, meet me under the north end of the silk road bridge at midnight." Sean read.
Soon the group arrived at the destination before someone came out from under the bridge.
"Listen, I joined the Equalists because I believed in what Amon said. I thought he could make life better for us non-benders. But I didn't sign up for this war."
"What do you have on Hiroshi Sato?" Gideon asked.
"He manufactured those gloves for the Equalists."
"I knew it!" Korra said.
"And there are rumors he's working on something even bigger. Some kind of new weapon."
"We searched all of Future industries and found nothing." Taylor said.
"Thats because he has a secret factory."
"Where?" Korra asked.
"It's right underneath the Sato mansion."
"Of fucking course." Sean said.
Later
Sean, Korra, Tenzin and Lin along with the others arrived back at the mansion again before going to the workshop out back.
"Dad? Hello?" Asami called out.
"Theres no one here. Maybe he bugged out." Gideon said.
"Never assume anything." Sean said pulling out his computer screen before scanning the room. "Theres a tunnel beneath the workshop." Sean said as Taylor and his team found it and pulled the hatch off. showing the tunnel.
"Son of a bitch may have bolted through here." Taylor said.
"Taylor you and your team take point." Gideon said.
"Right. Diaz, Sarah, Maretti and Hendricks with me." Taylor said getting his team to move first.
"Stay here." Sean said to Asami, Mako and Bolin.
"Lets go." Will said as they went to a lift.
Heading to the bottom Taylor's team lead forward before coming into a large room.
"Guy has way too much time on his hands." Maretti said.
"Yeah that tends to happen when your wife gets killed." Gideon said as they moved forward before seeing banners with Amon's face.
"Can you fucking say ego?" Sean asked before seeing giant Mecha tanks.
"I'm gonna assume those are the new weapons." Korra said.
"Low tech compared to the ones back home." Sarah said.
"Hiroshi was lying all right but where is he?" Tenzin asked before the doors shut behind them.
"And we walked into a fucking trap." Hendricks said before the tanks turned on.
"Very true." Hiroshi said in one of them.
"Hiroshi I understand you're angry at what happened 12 years ago but this is madness. You cannot blame every bender for what happened." Sean said.
"No? How many wars in this part of the world have been started by benders? How many people have died by the hands of benders?" Hiroshi asked making him frown. "Amon will purge the world of benders forever. And as for you...I think I'll do Cinder a favor and avenge her brothers who you killed." Hiroshi said attacking him but he quickly dodged.
Taylor and his team fired on one of the tanks before Diaz fired an RPG at it blowing the top up killing the Pilot.
Gideon and Will fired on another before it tried to smash them.
Sean fought against Hiroshi using his bending to force him back while Korra used airbending on another tank before pushing it into a wall.
"You can't beat me Hiroshi." Sean said before Equalists showed up.
"There they are! Nail them!" Joker yelled firing at them but some dodged their bullets.
"Ah shit." Hendricks said using hand to hand combat on one before breaking his arm and shot him in the face.
Sean blasted Hiroshi with lightning making him growl.
"Lets see how you like losing the love of your life!" Hiroshi yelled shooting a spear at Korra before blood splattered on her face making her gasp in horror.
Sean groaned as he took the shot to save Korra and was impaled in the waist.
"Ok...That was cheep and I'm sure your daughter would be disgusted with such an act." Sean said making him glare.
"I am." Asami said shocking Hiroshi as he faced her, Mako and Bolin. "How could you. Working with Amon and Cinder after what she and Malefor did to him last month?" Asami asked in disbelief.
"Asami, please. You must understand this man doesn't deserve his power or Title. He gave up on us like we meant nothing. But Cinder has promised to take his place as the new Avatar of Life and bring true peace and equality with Amon." Hiroshi said.
"It's not like that. He told us what happened and frankly I don't blame him that he lost faith in humanity. Cinder is a monster. And you trusting her is a big mistake. After all that talk about being a good person. Your no better than the men who killed mom." Asami said making him widen his eyes.
"Asami, Please you don't understand." Hiroshi said before Cinder appeared from the shadows.
"Oh shit." Taylor said aiming at her.
"Well...This is very interesting." Cinder said before she grabbed Hiroshi. "But I'm afraid I don't have time for you. Amon doesn't want to lose his prized inventor." Cinder said.
"Asami, please. Join us and we can..." Hiroshi tried to say.
"Just shut up and go. I never wanna see you again." Asami said shocking him.
"Fairwell." Cinder said vanishing.
Thats when Asami broke down crying before Sarah pulled her up.
"It's all right." Sarah said.
Sean groaned as Will pulled the spear out of his body.
"Ah!" Sean yelled.
"Easy buddy." Will said helping him up.
"Figures. Reznov and Julia go off on some assignment when we need them the most." Sean said as Korra helped him up before the group left.
Using the airship they left the mansion.
"Ahhh." Sean said annoyed as he fully healed.
"Thanks for saving me again." Korra said making him smirk as he pulled down his mask.
"Isn't it my job as your boyfriend to protect you?" Sean asked making her smile before kissing him.
"I uh don't suppose that offer from before is still up?" Mako asked making them grin.
"Like you really need to ask." Sean said making him chuckle.
"And Asami is welcomed too." Korra said.
"We're gonna need some backup incase Amon uses those tanks early. I recommend asking for the 75th Ranger division." Gideon said.
"Agreed. Get Shepherd to send them down. Tell him the situation has...Gotten worse." Sean said.
"Right." Gideon said.
"Let me guess some more real good men?" Korra asked.
"Yup. I know this division well actually. They'll help out." Sean said.
