Sookie woke to an alarm that she didn't remember setting and wearing pajamas that she didn't remember putting on. She flipped back the covers and crawled out of bed. After going in to the bathroom, she found a wash cloth with smudges of red on it.
Did I fall asleep while taking blood from Eric and did he take care of me"? Sookie wondered.
She couldn't help but touch her face where Eric wiped away the blood. She was astonished at the care he took and got ready for the day in a fog.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs, she noticed the entrance to the cubby. Sookie walked over to the wardrobe and opened it, then climbed down the ladder. Eric looked so peaceful while he slept.
Sookie walked over to the side of the bed then cupped his cheek with her hand before kissing him softly on his lips.
Eric woke that evening with the feeling of lips on his lips but no one was there. He touched his lips with his fingers. I t was the smell of Sookie's lip gloss on his fingers. "She kissed me in my sleep"? He wondered before he rose from his bed.
The phone began to ring as he gathered his clothes to dress.
"Eric we have a situation at the bar".
"What is the situation"? He puts on his shirt.
"The queen is here".
"Do you know why"? Eric pulls on his pants.
"She wants to meet with Sookie".
"Sookie is at work and she feels that she somehow owes the shifter. She won't leave". He rubs his face with his hands.
"Eric, what are we going to do"?
"I'll figure something out". He hung up the phone and ran his fingers through his hair before he climbed out of the cubby to begin formulating a plan.
"Merlott's" Sookie answered the phone.
"Sookie, I have never been so glad to hear your voice".
"Thanks, Pam. It's good to hear from you too". She returned very confused.
"Eric would kill me if he knew that I called you but he needs you".
"What's wrong? Is he ok"? Sookie became worried.
"The queen is here and she wants to meet you".
"I'll figure something out". Sookie hung up the phone and ran her hand from her temple to her chin.
"Kelly, I need to borrow some clothes.
Eric Arrived at Fangtasia and walked in the back door to enter the bar.
"Did you figure something out"? Pam asked somewhat panicked.
"The only thing that I can do is stall and hope she gets frustrated enough to leave". Eric continued to walk with Pam to the bar area.
"That is a horrible plan". Pam complained.
"It's the one that we got". Eric exclaimed before opening the door and entering the main area of the bar.
"Your majesty, to what do we owe the pleasure"?
"I would like to meet your human, Sookie".
"We will both be at your home in less than a week".
"I know. I wanted to meet her beforehand in more intimate setting".
"Fangtasia is far from intimate and befitting a queen".
"Cut the crap, Northman. Where is your human"?
Eric searched his brain for any semblance of a plan. There was no good plan without Sookie.
The door beside the bar opened "Pam said you that you needed me". Sookie appeared in a black dress and knee high boots.
"The queen would like to meet you". Eric answered stunned.
"Hi, I 'm Sookie" She held her hand out to shake the queen's.
"Sophie Ann" She returned while eyeing Sookie's hand.
"I apologize. I forget sometimes, silly humans".
"Yes, shall we sit"? The queen asked.
"Of, course" Eric answered with a smile only for Sookie.
The queen walked ahead of Eric and Sookie. Sookie went to follow before Eric grabbed her by the hand and pulled her to him. He whispered "Thank you" in her ear.
"Don't mention it". She returned with a smile.
Eric and Sookie walked over to the tables that the queen was seated with the rest of her entourage to join them. The queen motioned for Sookie to sit next to her. Sookie looked to Eric who silently begged her to comply. She nodded her head and then sat beside the queen.
"Sookie how long have you belonged to Sheriff Northman"?
"Not long. I was Bill Compton's but we had differing opinions on our relationship and so I am no longer his but I am Sheriff Northman's.
"Interesting, how did you meet Sheriff Northman"?
"Bill Compton brought me to Fangtasia".
"He did, did he"? The queen gritted.
"Yes" Sookie answered trying to appear ignorant of the queen's dealings with Bill.
Eric stood behind the queen willing her questions to come to an end.
"Your majesty, how Sookie came to be my human is a rather boring tale". He tried to intercede.
"I don't think so". Sophie Ann bit back.
"Yes, your majesty". Eric smiled.
"So, Sookie, when did you become Eric's human"?
Sookie looked to Eric for guidance and turned back after his encouragement.
"After I returned from the Fae plain".
"The Fae plain? Why ever did you go there"?
"I'm so sorry. I have to go to the little girl's room, weak human bladders".
"Yes, of course". The queen waved her off.
"Thank you". She smiled as she rose from her seat.
Eric eyed her as she walked past him to open and quickly close the door.
"Is the queen gone"?
"No, I had to fake needing to pee to get away from her interrogation. Eric was standing behind me and so I have no clue what to tell her and what not to tell her. I was about to tell her that I was a fricking fairy princess before I thought better of it". She answered in a panic.
"Calm down, Sookie". Pam pleaded.
"Are you fricking kidding me? You want to tell me to calm down when mine and Eric's lives are on the line"?
"Yes, panic isn't helping anything. In fact Eric is out there feeling your little panic attack, right now".
"Oh, no! I completely forgot about that" Sookie exclaimed. Covering her face with her hands.
"Alright, deep breaths. In the noes, out the mouth".
Sookie followed Pam's instructions, breathing in through her nose and out of her mouth.
"Now, how do you feel"?
"Better. Not let's go out there and answer more questions from the vampire queen but better".
"Sookie remember there is a plan. She can't take you from Eric, not here and when she can, it will be too late".
"You're right". Sookie took another deep breath before she opened the door to rejoin Eric. She walked up beside him and took him by the hand before she tried to convey to him to take the lead. He must have understood because he led her back to her chair and pulled another chair beside her for himself.
"You were about to tell me why you were in the Fae plain". The queen reminded her.
Sookie looked at Eric before she spoke. Eric nodded for her to answer the question.
"I am part Fae and I was visiting my godmother".
"How sweet".
"It was". Sookie quipped.
"Do you care for your master"?
Eric became incredibly uncomfortable with the queen's line of questioning.
Sookie looked at Eric before answering "Very much".
The queen decided to change tactics "Your cousin Hadley is my human and lives at my estate. Would you not rather be with family"?
"I love my cousin but I have what I need right here". She answered as she caressed Eric's forearm.
"Well, if you change your mind, let me know". Sophie Ann stood to her feet and directed her guards to the door to leave.
Eric and Sookie stood together. "Thank you but I won't".
"We'll see were the queen's final words before leaving Fangtasia.
Eric turned to Sookie. "Do you truly care for your master"?
"I care for Eric very much". She brought his hand to her lips and kissed his knuckles softly.
For a moment Eric almost thought that his dead heart beat again.
