Everyone watched with anticipation as the twisted, bony creature slowly stalked its prey down the forested road. A sickly grin on its face, it strode with confidence toward the struggling elk, its claws scraping the pavement, the sound and sight paralyzing the animal with sheer terror. The elk could smell the blood from its claws, his own blood spilling from the wound in his side. Every action pained him, every breath a living torment, he just wished it could end already.
All hearts in the room were pounding in anticipation. The thing eventually loomed over him, ready to strike. He suddenly pulled out his gun, then lights appeared over the horizon. He shot the creature which gave off a screech like no other which made the owner of the lights come faster, scaring the creature away.
He was safe. "Oh, Rex!" He cried out as alcohol was poured on the wound. "Fuck!" He whimpered through clenched teeth.
Kai turned to Collot and Voss. "Whoa. I'm not sure if this is for me, dude." Everybody shushed him. "Sorry."
Half-an-hour later: "You motherfucker!" He yelled to the trees. "If I'm dying, I'm taking you with me!" He then shot himself in the gut, making him vulnerable. The creature, smelling his blood, came running out to gobble him up. He then emptied the magazine into it, climbed into its mouth and down its throat, forced his way out of its body by way of stomach, and left an explosive present inside, just to make sure. As the elk walks off, the screen fades to black.
"Holy shit! That was good!" Kai exclaimed. "What's the name of this again?"
"Rexmas Ribbons!"
"Oh. Weird title. You guys have any more?"
"Yeah, we got lots." Collot replied. "We get most of'em from Voss' big bro though."
"Yup." Voss concurred with a big, dumb grin on his face. "I like to sneak out and bum a couple off of him. I got this one last night."
"Why? Aren't you gonna get in trouble?" Kai asked.
Voss scoffed. "Pffft. It's for fun. 'Sides, they're never gonna catch me."
"How would you know that?"
"They haven't caught me yet have they?"
"Yeah, I guess."
"You wanna watch another?"
"Sure!"
"Now let's see..."
Miguno spoke up. "Dude, guest's pick tonight, remember?"
"Oh, yeah. Alright Kai," Voss said while digging through a small box, eventually brandishing as many DVDs as his small paws would allow. "You're pick."
Kai had just happened to put a claw on an infamous Z-grade classic.
"Wait," Durham chuckled incredulously, "Are those strings holding up saucer pans?"
Voss simply nodded.
"Hahahahaha! Wow! Just, I dunno what to say! Hey, Jack, you still watching?" Durham turned his head to see Jack deep in thought and not all paying attention to the movie. Looking concerned, he asked "Dude, are you alright?
"Huh?!"
"I said, are you alright?"
"Oh, yeah, just thinking." Jack replied, avoiding eye contact.
"Dude, you don't have to stay up because of us. If you're tired, just say so. You look like you need the rest anyway. At least you're not like Legoshi."
Jack's head snapped up. "What do you mean I'm not like Legoshi?"
"I-I just mean that, uh, you're tired cause you've been working hard and-"
"And Legoshi hasn't?!"
"Wait, what? Jack, that's not what I'm saying."
"What are you saying then?"
"I-I, uhhh..."
Miguno spoke up. "Legoshi has his issues. We don't really understand them. Tired because you've worked hard? We can relate to that. But tired because you're brain doesn't know how to sleep anymore? We can't relate to that. But understand this, we are a pack, Jack, like six peas in a pod, and we will support each other no matter what."
Jack started to relax.
Miguno, encouraged by this, continued. "Remember how afraid I was when I first walked in here? I mean, I expected canines, but I had no idea what kind of canines I would be sharing this dorm with. I was thinking, Rex, I'm gonna be stuck here with animals that I don't know and are not my kind. I expected the worst, just a bunch of assholes who would make my life a living hell. I was good with other hyenas, they're usually chill as hell. But dogs? Competitive at everything, bark at everything. Who would be the alpha, the leader? I walk in here, shaking like a leaf, heart pounding in my chest. And you, Jack, you. You're the first one to notice me and before I can do anything, you charge, tackle, and hug me. You and Collot. You both held onto me until my shaking and hyperventilating stopped. That's when I realized I was in good company, and it's been that way ever since. So yeah, you're tired, but realize that we're all in this together and that no one issue is set for one pair of shoulders. In fact, the 4 of us have a few ideas on how to Legoshi back on his feet."
Jack looked positively ecstatic. "Really?!" His tail wagged.
"Yeah, really. Sorta like that time when Durham's stepdad got shot on the job, we made sure to give him lots of presents and keep Durham from being sad, right Durham?"
"Eh, yeah." Durham looked downward, his ears flat and tail motionless.
"Oh shit! I'm sorry dude! I didn't mean- it's just I forgot! I forgot you don't like talking about that."
"'sigh' Dude, it's alright. It didn't kill him, only made him appreciate life more. We're good."
"Cool!"
Miguno turned back to Jack. "Right. Ideas. Well, this is what we came up with: Psychedelics, get him to open up to us, support him academically, make sure he feels he's valued, involve him in some fun stuff if he wants to... Say, where is he anyway?"
"Just behind us, getting some sleep."
"Ok. Well, he's not getting away so easily next time."
"Yeah." Jack's tail stopped for a moment as he backtracked through the last few moments. "What was that you said before?"
"What?" Miguno replied.
"What were the ideas?"
"Psychedelics-"
"That's a no."
"Really?"
"Yes, really! Who's idea was that?"
"Mine!" Collot replied.
"Collot, psychedelics can't be handled lightly. You use them wrong, and it could screw up someone up even more than they already are! I wouldn't risk it."
Collot looked downtrodden from his idea being shot down. "Ok."
"Everything else though, I like. Let's show him a good time!"
All tails wagged. Kai wished he had friends like these though he couldn't help but smile as the canines continued to talk excitedly into the night. He made sure to let Room 506 know where he was.
