Captain America meets the Hunt chapter 8
Peggy finally returned when she did Aria was rather bored. She was all too happy to go out with Peggy. Peggy ended up showing her around the neighbourhood before returning back to the house where they spoke again.
"So what is thou job?"
"I work in the intelligence business." She replied stopping her from lying.
"Is that why I am here?"
"In a way, I would appreciate it if you help me understand your world."
"Okay, I will train you."
"Train me?"
"If th...you want to be part of my world you need to know how to fight monsters. Every demigod needs to learn the basics to survive so I will train you in thy...the basics."
"I am not a demigod."
"No, but it is that or I tech you to be part of the hunt...you are too old for that. This way if you come across monsters you will know how to slay them." Aria stated the sooner she got Peggy prepared the sooner she can return to the hunt. Or she hopes.
That is how her days were occupied for the next few week. Peggy would leave in the morning and return in the afternoon where Aria would teach her the basic in knife control, sword and archery. Although she mainly stuck with the knife. She taught her how to identify monsters, giving some background information and sometimes a personal story. Peggy has also been teaching her the basics of living in the mortal world. It was the weekend and Peggy had informed her that something was going on at work so she was going to be there longer so she would have to take care of herself. Aria reminded her that she was not a child. Aria was sharpening her knife when there was a knock at the door. It got to the annoying point where Aria went over and opened it. A man was standing there with a moustache one she remembered from the first time she met Peggy.
"Hey Peg...you are not Peggy. Who are you?" He asked
"Who are you?" She asked back
"Me? I'm Howard Stark...is Peggy in?"
"She is not in." Aria replied about to close the door but he stopped her
"Who are you?" He asked
"I am her niece visiting her." Aria replied remembering her cover.
"That is odd, Peg never mentioned a niece." He stated
"She never mentioned you." Aria shot back
"Don't I know you from somewhere?" He asked and she shook her head.
"Tell your aunt Peg to call me. We are having a thing at the manor the commandos will be there." Stark stated before leaving Aria did not know that he was trying to recall where he had met her before.
Peggy did not return until the next morning. Aria was already up the house was clean.
"Good morning." Peggy stated but she looked tired only to pause and look around. "Have you cleaned?"
"We have chores at camp. I was bored." Aria shrugged "a male came by yesterday." Aria informed her
"Who?"
"Stark. Said you should call him." Aria stated "but you should get some rest first."
"I will call him, see what he wants then have a rest." Aria let her go turning back to watch the sun rise through the window. Her attention dropping to the ring on her hand she brought forth the sword her father gave her examining it she let it rest on her legs. She noticed as the sunlight came in through the window when it caught the blade it made it glow golden. She sat there for a while before getting up and moving back to her room. She checked on Peggy and found her asleep so she let her rest. When Peggy woke up Aria watched as she came over to her, she made her a cup of tea.
"I have to go out, will you like to come with me?" She asked and after a moment to think about it she agreed. There was a knock on the door five minutes later.
"Mr Jarvis, impeccable timing as always." Peggy greeted as Aria assessed the man in front of her.
"Ms Carter. Always happy to see you." He returned looking over her shoulder at Aria.
"Right where are my manners? Edwin Jarvis this is my niece Aria she is visiting from England." Peggy supplied
"Pleasure to meet you. Shall we?" He asked indicating the car he headed for the drivers seat. Peggy noticed that Aria seemed slightly interested in the car as they climbed in.
"So what trouble has Howard found himself in now?" Peggy asked as they drove away from the house.
"That you will have to discuss with him. Mr Dugun and Mr Jones are already there." Jarvis informs her. Aria looked out the window as they drove to an even bigger house than Peggy's not as big as castles but big enough to know that the owner is wealthy.
Aria followed Peggy inside and watched as Mr Jarvis ended up walking away after telling Peggy where to find Mr Stark. They walked into a rather large room. The first thing she noticed was the three men in the room. Two of them she did not recognise but the man with the moustache was behind a desk he seemed happy that Peggy was there and a little confused as to why she is there. The larger of the two men came over grinning like a school boy.
"Peggy." He greeted going for a hug
"Dugan. It is good to see you." She replied after holding up a hand to stop Aria from moving. "These men are friends." She stated. "Dum Dum Dugan, Gabe Jones and Howard Stark. I would like you to meet Aria my niece." She stated introducing them.
"Pleased to meet any relation to Peg." Dum Dum stated moving over to her but she took a step back looking up at him. He was really tall and well-muscled.
"She does not like being touched." Peggy informed him. He nodded stepping back just then Howard's eyes widened.
"You're the girl that punched Steve." Howard stated just then there was a crash and all of them tensed.
"More friends of yours?" Aria asked she was ignored
"What have you gone and done now Jarvis." Howard mumbled moving over for the door only to freeze as eight men came in with guns.
"You move he dies." A male stated seeming they had Mr Jarvis with a gun next to his head.
"Tell us where the safe is?" Another demanded.
"Listen just take what you want no one needs to get hurt." Howard stated both Dugan and Gabe each had a gun aimed at them.
"We will." The first man stated "Now the safe?" He demanded so Howard opened the safe. One of the men went over to it pulling out the cash.
"The other safe. The one with all your latest projects." A man demanded but on this Howard did not move he shared a look with Peggy he had already been through so much with his vault being stolen from before he was not wanting that to happen again. When it became clear he was not going to answer the man moved over to Aria aiming his gun on her.
"You don't care about the adults how would you feel about being responsible for her death!" He demanded
"Peggy, I can't." Howard stated and Peggy knew what he was meaning she looked at Aria who looked really calm.
"Aria. These are not nice men." She stated and watched as Aria locked eyes on her
"I understand." Aria replied
"I will shoot her." The man shouted but before he or anyone else could react Aria attacked. Grabbing the mans arm as he fired the gun she made sure he shot his friend then the others could only watch as she attacked the other 7. When she was done all eight men were on the ground and Aria was putting away her hunting knife. Jarvis, Howard, Gabe and Dugan all looked surprised.
"That was what you were meaning yes?" Aria asked looking at Peggy
"Are they dead?" Howard asked
"She is not from the red room is she?" Dugan asked
"I will check the perimeter." Aria stated
"Are you hurt?" Peggy asked stopping her from leaving.
"I am fine." Aria responded leaving the room but Peggy grabbed her arm. This made Aria look down at the hand on her arm with a frown. She really did not like it when others touched her.
"What about this?" She asked indicating her knuckles.
"Not my blood." Aria responded before taking her hand off her arm and leaving the room.
By the time she returned after only discovery of two cars out front did she notice that Peggy had explained who she is to the men in the room. They all looked at her differently when she entered, Howard looking like a boy on Christmas.
"You're part god?" Gabe asked when she entered she gave Peggy a pointed look.
"I told them. I trust them." She explained it was only now did Aria notice the bad men were not in the room.
"Where art th...the others?" She asked
"In the main living room. All secure. Waiting for the police." Howard replied "when they ask what happens? Peggy, Dum Dum And Gabe took them down." Howard added at which Aria looked at Peggy she did not want to do what this man was telling her to do.
"I do not listen to boys." She told Peggy
"It was my idea." Peggy stated and Aria nodded her head
"I have so many questions." Dum Dum stated Howard nodded his head in agreement.
"We will talk after the police have done what they need to do." Peggy stated. The police arrived and asked many questions Aria was finding herself getting annoyed with the males in the room demanding things from her. Peggy was talking to two other men in suits they seemed to be on familiar ground.
"Well Carter what a day for your niece. Is she going to be alright?" One of the men stated
"She is stronger than she looks." Peggy responded
"She is a Carter after all." The other man stated
"Just try and not find anymore trouble you are meant to be on holiday." The first man stated at which Peggy gave a light laugh at before dismissing them.
"Mr Stark, miss." The men nodded in farewell before leaving the room.
Once they were all gone Peggy and the others regrouped in a different office where Mr Jarvis gave them drinks he also seemed to stay for the conversation. Peggy did most of the talking when she was finished they were all looking stunned.
"Peg you have to understand that it is a little hard to believe." Howard stated and they all looked at Aria expectantly. She sighed before holding out her hand and calling forth her sword, Howard jumped to his feet moving over to her to have a closer look. Gabe and Dum Dum still looked to be in shock.
"What? How?" Jarvis asked as Howard moved to touch the blade. Aria moved quickly so that the blade was now aimed at him.
"Aria."
"I did not give you permission to touch boy."
"Aria." Peggy stated she could tell it was a warning tone but was ignoring it.
"You're right I am sorry. It is just you produced that out of thin air." Howard stated moving a step back Aria lowered her weapon. Not correcting him, she had to keep some things a mystery.
