Chapter 10: A Friend Here to Help
"Here it is." Sirius laughed. "The building of go home Sirius."
Remus let out a soft chuckle when his eye was caught by something at the window. "Lily wants you to come inside." He said dreamily, still staring at the window.
"She said what?" Sirius looked at the window, but could see nothing.
"Come on," Remus took Sirius' hand and led him inside.
"Moony, I'm not sure I understand what we're doing."
"I'm not either Padfoot." They stopped in front of a black door. "I forgot my key." Remus knocked and not too shortly after Lily opened the door.
"Remus dear, you were out so late I was worried sick." She said almost acting like a mom. "And who is this?"
"Lily no," Remus groaned. "You know him!"
"I don't believe I do." Yeah, she was pretending to be the mother of Remus. "Come in young man."
"Alright." Sirius walked into the apartment very confused. "It's nice to see you again Lily."
"Who's Lily? I am Remus' mom."
"You're not my mom!" Remus snapped.
"Don't you raise your voice at me, young man."
Sirius tried to hold back his laughter. "Um, why am I here again?"
"I just want to know what your intentions with my son are."
"Lily," Remus went pink.
"Oh, well I just."
*Ring!*
"What James?" Lily listened for a moment. "I'm a bit busy questioning Sirius." A large grin grew on Lily's face. "Yeah sure."
"Oh no."
"What's wrong?" Sirius was suddenly just as concerned as Remus was annoyed.
"According to that face," He pointed at Lily. "It's only getting worse from here.
Sirius and Remus were sitting on the couch. Lily was in the kitchen being weird as it was the room to the door. Sirius watched as Remus typed book plots. Some of them were very clearly jokes while others seemed more real. Then, suddenly someone burst in through the door.
"Where is my son Remus?" James called out. "I told him that Sirius boy was bad news!"
"Oh gosh, please no."
"You guys need to chill, there's nothing weird going on here." Sirius explained.
"Really mate, I just got here and you already ruined my fun."
"Not my problem you guys are making the both of us very uncomfortable."
"He passed!" Lily shouted. "Sirius, you passed!"
"Wait what."
"You were able to notice Remus was uncomfortable and find a way to stop it."
"Great job Sirius." At this point, Sirius was even pinker than Remus, who had hidden under a blanket.
"You now have the permission of the best friend to date Remus."
"What do you guys not understand? Me and Remus aren't dating!" Sirius was unsure of his true feelings at this point, he didn't know what words were coming out of his mouth.
Remus could feel his heart shatter.
Sirius hadn't picked up any hints.
Did he not have the same spark of emotions when Remus' hand was holding his?
Remus' face remained out of sight.
James and Sirius left around ten-thirty. Lily had just walked them out of the door when she heard Remus let out an exhausted huff like breath.
"Hey, how are you doing." She asked, throwing herself on the couch beside him.
"He completely friend-zoned me, Lily." Remus whined.
"Did you see his face?" She scoffed. "His mind disappears whenever he looks at you."
"I took his hands in mine, and told him I'm always here to help him." Remus wasn't far from tears. He didn't open up often so this pain wasn't very familiar. "And he doesn't even like me!"
"Rem," Lily using her most gentle tone. "Do you remember that first night we met Sirius?"
"Yeah, it was really awkward." His eyes were red, still on the verge of tears.
"Sirius just couldn't take his eyes off you."
"Yeah but,"
"And you weren't going to give him a chance, but we all knew,"
"We all knew what?" Remus asked, starting to forget his watery eyes.
"That you had those same feelings for him," Lily answered smiling tenderly at her overwhelmed friend. "Not to mention you've been on a date too."
"It was one time." Remus laughed.
"What about all those times after that?" Lily asked, happy to see her friend's mode change.
"That, well that was just hanging out."
"Yeah, sure just hanging out." She teased. "Ok, now is the part of the night where we say we should go to sleep, then watch animated movies instead."
"Alright then, what should we watch?" Remus asked, turning on the T.V. ready for the night ahead of him.
