Hey everyone, Harley here. I'm so sorry that it has taken me so long, my friends. Life got in the way, but here it is, guys. I hope you like it. Again, I do not own Bleach or any characters from it.
Renji woke up and felt someone wrapped in his arms. He looked down and saw Azumi laying on his chest. He cringed at the sight and got up, not caring that he woke up the woman. "Good morning, baby." She told him. She wrapped her arms around him and he held her back.
"Good morning." He greeted her back. She tried to kiss him, but he backed away. "Um…we should get back." He stated. He grabbed his clothes and threw them on in a hurry. He flash stepped away with a tear falling from his cheek. Please forgive me, Byakuya. He entered the hideout and saw Haru and Yuuto getting ready.
"Renji, are you ready?" He knew it was time for the battle to begin, but he wasn't ready at all. He was going to help them destroy the only home he's ever known and he cringed at the thought. Byakuya was barely well enough to protect himself and Ikakku was just now getting his strength back. The love of his life and one of his best friends were hurt and it was all his fault, he didn't know how he was going to live with himself after today. But with all of that he nodded at Haru, agreeing.
Byakuya was sitting at home, looking at the picture of his beloved redhead, thinking of how he can get his lover back. There's no telling what they're making him do. That woman…she wanted him and she's probably… Byakuya noticed he was crumbling the picture in his hand. He fixed the picture as best as he could, still pissed about what they might be making him do. "Renji, please come home." He said quietly.
Just then the dark-haired nobleman felt a rumble and heard a loud crash from outside. He flash stepped outside and saw the four of them coming from the sky. He saw a bunch of hollows coming for him and others. Byakuya took out his Zanpakuto and called for her, "scatter, Senbonzakura." A million of sakura petals formed from the sword and slashed through the hollows, but more were coming. He felt his reiatsu was draining, but didn't know why.
He hurriedly went after his lover, flash stepping as fast as he could. He felt himself slowing down, but kept running. The dark-haired captain saw them come into view and they looked at him. Byakuya stopped in front of them. "Hello, Byakuya. Nice to see you again." Haru said to him.
"Give me back Renji and leave or else you will be sorry." He demanded them. The blue-haired woman laughed at him.
"Oh please, Renji don't want you anymore. After he's had a taste of me, why would he ever go back to you." Byakuyas eyes widened and he looked at Renji. Renjis' head hung in shame, for he couldn't look at the dark-haired man.
"Renji, please tell me that's not true." He pleaded to the redhead.
"I'm sorry, Byakuya, but it is." Renji said, still not looking at him. Byakuya then saw red and lunged at the woman. He slashed at her wildly, not giving her a chance to attack back.
"You, bitch! You made him do it, he would never do that on his own free will!" He yelled at her. She blocked and dodged every attack he made at her, not letting him hit her. She was laughing at him and then grabbed his sword with her bare hands. "Oh, but he did." She whispered to him. A tear fell from the dark-haired captains cheek as he fell to the ground.
When it came to Renji, he couldn't keep his composure, so he let the tears fall. "Why?" He asked quietly. She leaned down and was going to whisper something else, but he lunged his sword through her chest. She coughed up blood on his captains haori and leaned on his chest. He turned the sword while it was in her chest and pulled it out.
"Father…" She gasped deeply as she reached for her father. He walked over to her, but didn't do anything. He watched the lights go out in her eyes.
"Well you managed to kill my daughter. She was nothing, but a nuisance. I, however will not die so easily." Haru told Byakuya. Haru slung his sword at Byakuya so fast he knew he wouldn't be able to dodge it. He looked at Renji then closed his eyes. He heard a clash and opened his eyes, seeing Renji holding his sword against Harus.
"Renji?" Byakuya asked. Why did he protect me? He betrayed me. The two men battled it out and Renji was about to fall, but Byakuya was not going to have that. He stayed calm and called for his sword. A hundred of petals flew all around Haru. The tall man just smiled and looked at the captain.
"You think you can win? You can kill me, but I am not the only one that wants the Sereitei to fall to its knees. And…" He paused for a moment, looking at Renji then back at Byakuya, still smiling. "Good luck." He told them both as the petals ripped him apart. They watched as the tall mans body fell to the ground and Byakuya turned toward the boy named Yuuto. He put his arms up in defeat.
"Calm yourselves. I don't care about your silly Sereitei. I didn't even care about my so called family. I only want to be alone and at peace with myself away from everyone." Byakuya put his sword away and nodded toward the boy. The boy took off without a second glance and Byakuya felt arms around him. He knew it was the red-haired captain, but he didn't feel like being in his arms right now.
"Renji…" He said while pushing the redhead away. The dark-haired captain turned and started walking away. Renji grabbed the captains hand, but the man didn't turn around. "Not now, Renji."
"Come on, Byakuya. I…"
"I know you probably did…that for good reason, I'm just not ready to forgive you just yet. Now, please let my hand go." Byakuya interrupted the redhead. Byakuya felt arms wrap around his waist and lips press against the back of his head. He closed his eyes and sighed.
"Byakuya, I know it hurts you and I don't expect you to forgive me anytime soon, but I do love you and I'm sorry about all of this." Renji said quietly to his beloved. Byakuya turned in the redheads arms and looked up at the taller man. Renjis hand went up and cupped the side of the dark haired mans cheek. "I just hope you can forgive me for everything one day." Byakuya closed his eyes and leaned against the red-head, pressing his face on his chest and wrapping his arms around the tall man.
"I love you too, Renji. You are right it hurts and I trust that you did what you did because you had no choice, but I can't get the picture of you and her out of my mind." Byakuya said sadly. Renji squeezed the smaller man lightly and kissed the top of his head.
"I had to win their trust to get something from them that's why I did it. I guess I could've went about it another way, but she wasn't going to stop so I did the only thing I could at the moment. I didn't enjoy a moment of it. I actually just fantasized about you the entire time. I know that doesn't make the matter any better, but I swear to you I will spend all of my life trying to make it up to you. You are my reason for living and the fire that keeps me fighting. You are my everything, Byakuya." Byakuya listened to everything his beloved redhead had to say and it made him feel a little better but he couldn't forgive him all the way just yet.
"I know you will, Renji and I know I will forgive you one day just not today. Now, we have other important matters concerning the head captain and you leaving with them." Renji sighed, knowing this wasn't going to be easy. They made their way to the 1st division Renji staying behind Byakuya watching his ever so graceful partners every move. He hurt the man he loves and it wasn't killing him. Byakuya understood, but couldn't forgive him and that was even worse. He wanted Byakuya to forgive him not even if it meant he beat the living hell out of him. He needed to be punished for hurting the dark-haired man.
When they reached the 1st division, two soul reapers grabbed the redhead and held his arms behind his back. "Renji Abarai, you traitor." He knew this was going to be a hard road to go down. "The head captain wants a word. They tightened their grip and made their way into the building pushing Renji forward, Byakuya tagging along. They entered the head captains office and made him kneel down in front of him.
"Let him go." Yamamoto ordered. They did as they were told and let his arms go. Renji didn't get up and stayed there on his knees, looking up at the head captain. "Renji Abarai, I give you the position of captain and you go and betray that trust. What do you have to say for yourself?"
"I'm sorry about betraying you, but I won't apologize for saving my beloveds life. They would've killed him if I didn't…" He stopped when he saw the head captain raise his hand raise up.
"I understand you love Byakuya and I won't ask you to apologize for saving him, but you will need to be punished for your actions. Some have said that you deserve the benefit of a doubt, but some have said that I should send you back to the Rukongai. You have been a loyal and worthy lieutenant to Byakuya and even though you beat him, Ikakku even said that you should be forgiven. That you wouldn't have done that if it wasn't for good reasons. The only person I haven't heard anything from is…" He looked up at the dark-haired 6th division captain. Renji looked back at him also and saw hurt in his eyes for a split second, but he went back to the cold distant man he usually was. "Byakuya, what do you say? Do you believe he should get a second chance?" Byakuya glanced at Renji and Renji looked away hanging his head to the floor.
"Yes, I do. He has shown he is more than loyal and trustworthy for the Soul Society in the past. He was just acting out of love for me. He was a great lieutenant and he would make a great captain, but don't go too easy on him. He does deserve some type of punishment for going off with them even if it was for me." Byakuya explained.
"Thank you, Captain Kuchiki. Renji Abarai after hearing everyones opinion I have decided that you do deserve a second chance, but not as a captain. You are demoted to the 6th division lieutenant once again. That way Byakuya can watch you and make sure your punishment is good enough."
A few weeks had passed and Renji had a horrible punishment of watching his love be cold and distant to him and on top of that his had to train until his body and spirit was exhausted and couldn't take anymore. He fell to his knees after one last swing of his Zanpakuto. He had been training for days without anything to eat or drink and he was on the verge of passing out. His body was sore and beaten and Byakuya just watched.
The dark-haired man felt bad about putting him through this but he knew he couldn't go easy on him. The poor man had to endure a punishment fit for the crime. Even though he knew Renji having to endure the coldness of the man he loved, it still wasn't enough. Soul reapers could handle going days without food or water, but also training until your body gives out was a way to break the spirit too. He saw the redhead fall to his knees exhausted and knew it was almost time for his punishment to be over.
The dark-haired man made his way over to the redhead and put his hand on his shoulder. "Come, Renji." Is all he said and started walking away. He heard Renji sheath his sword and his footsteps following him. They made their way to the 6th division and walked in. Renji saw a stack of paperwork piled up and he knew that this was part of his punishment. Byakuya turned to him with emotionless eyes. "You are to do your paperwork and mine." He said and walked over to his desk sitting down. Renji sat down at his desk and got to work. It took him a whole day to get this done and once he was done he sat back in his chair and closed his eyes, sighing. All he wanted to do was sleep for hours after everything with his beloved in his arms. "Renji…" He opened his eyes and saw Byakuya leaning over him. He managed to raise his arm and cup the side of Byakuyas face.
"You're so beautiful." Renji told his beloved. Renji saw a love show in Byakuyas eyes and felt Byakuyas lips on his. He didn't hesitate and wrapped his arms around his beloved pulling him onto his lap. Byakuya didn't push away and let Renji hold him. Renji pulled away and looked into his beloved eyes. "Does this mean I'm forgiven?" Renji didn't care about his punishment, he would endure whatever, but being able to hold the love of his life and be with him again was the only thing he cared about. Byakuya smiled that bright smile that only Renji got to see and kissed Renji again.
"Maybe." Is all he said when he pulled away. Renji smiled, pulling Byakuya in for another kiss, but Byakuya stopped him. He climbed off of Renjis lap and held out his hand. Renji took it happily and stood up. "You need a bath." Byakuya stated, letting Renjis hand go and walking towards the door. He felt arms go around him, stopping him and lips against his neck. Renjis lips made their way up to his beloved ear nibbling on it making the man shudder in pleasure.
"You want to take one with me." Renji whispered seductively in his ear. Byakuya wanted him so bad but wasn't going to give in that easily and was going to make Renji work for that. The smaller man turned in Renjis arms and grinned evilly.
"You'll have to work for that, lieutenant Abarai." Renji cocked an eyebrow and looked at Byakuya seductively.
"You haven't called me that in a long time." Renji said leaning down and kissing Byakuyas neck again. "It's kinda hot when you say it like that." Renji bit Byakuyas neck lightly, making the older man moan slightly.
"Renji…" He moaned as he grabbed a fistful of fabric from the back of Renjis top. Byakuya knew he wouldn't be able to resist much longer so he had to get away. Only Renji knew how to make him feel like this and it was driving him mad. Byakuya shakily pulled away and Renji looked at him confused. Byakuya flash stepped away, knowing he had to get away from the redhead or he would lose it. He ran to the Kuchiki manor and once in his bedroom he stood there holding the part of his neck Renji was teasing a few minutes before. "Damn him." Byakuya lied on his bed and looked up at the ceiling. He felt a familiar reiatsu coming close and sat up. He looked at the window and there was the man that he desperately was trying to get away from.
"Why do you do that?" The redhead looked at Byakuya with a confused look. Even though Byakuya knew what the redhead meant, he looked at him with confusion.
"Do what?" The dark-haired man asked Renji.
"Run away from me. A simple no would've sufficed." After Renji stated that, Byakuya gave him a smirk that sent shivers up Renjis spine.
"Where's the fun in that?" The 6th division captain asked him.
"That's it." Renji stated with a smile. Byakuya then felt himself being hoisted up. Renji had picked him up and threw him over his shoulder.
"Renji! Put me down!" Byakuya ordered, but Renji wasn't doing what he wanted. Renji dropped Byakuya on the futon and crawled on top of him. Byakuya was about to push him off, but the redhead grabbed his arms and pinned them down. "Renji, let me go." The dark-haired man ordered again.
"Why? I missed this, I missed us." Renji looked his beloved captain in the eyes and didn't want to let go. Byakuya saw hurt in the poor lieutenants' eyes, not knowing what to say. Renji let out a big sigh and got up, sitting on the side of the futon. Byakuya sat up and laid his head on Renjis shoulder.
"I did too, but I'm not ready for that right now. I just want us to start fresh and not jump to the one thing that got us into this." Byakuya explained.
"You mean, like dates and stuff?" Renji asked.
"Yes, Renji. Will you be my boyfriend again?" Byakuya asked. Renjis face lit up and a smile came upon his lips. The redhead looked at Byakuya and placed a kiss on his lips.
"Of course, Byakuya." Renji said happily. "Does that mean I have to sleep in the lieutenants quarters again?" The redhead asked.
"No, you can stay here. Just no funny business, alright?" Renji only nodded as they both climbed under the blanket and cuddled up to one another. Renji nuzzled his face in Byakuyas neck and pulling him as close as he could. "Renji, what are you doing?"
"I'm just cuddling with you. I missed you so much." Renji stated as he squeezed him lightly.
"I missed you too." Byakuya said softly. A few minutes passed and Byakuya heard light snores coming from the redhead. He smiled lightly to himself and whispered, "I love you," before falling asleep himself.
