Chapter 10 - Sky
Harry ran to the corridor to see who it was, but hearing the footsteps of the intruder, he knew exactly who it was.
"Hagrid! Where are the others?" He asked.
In the hallway stood a half-giant with long brown hair and an even bigger beard.
"Quickly Harry, we need to get away from here!" He shouted from the outside of the hall.
Unsatisfied with this sudden departure, he got his things and threw them towards Hagrid, who caught them and placed it in the boot.
Running down the corridor, He got his wand out and turned off all the lights.
They stepped out of Number 12 Grimmauld Place.
"Hagrid, what about the muggles, there's loads of them?!" He shouted.
"I've got the invisibility booster on, we need to get out of here as fast as possible!" Hagrid shouted as he pushed Harry towards his bike.
"Hagrid please tell me-"
"I'll tell you later, we need to get the hell out of here! They know where they are!" Hagrid fumed
Death-Eaters knew where they were. That meant Voldemort knew.
No, no, this wasn't it.
Hagrid pressed a button on the bike and it, along with the two of them became invisible.
He started the motorbike, the engine roaring like a dragon. Hagrid pushed down another button and the roar of the engine was reduced to a whisper.
The motorbike started to drag race along the street, gaining speed rapidly. The road must've been four hundred yards long, but they weren't gaining speed quickly enough.
"Come on!" Hagrid panicked.
The motorbike approached 100 miles an hour and Hagrid tried to hoist it up into the air, but it wouldn't budge.
A wall of tall houses approached rapidly. The wind was whizzing past their ears like a hurricane.
30 yards before the houses, Hagrid pulled the bike upwards, and it left the ground.
He heaved the enormous vehicle upwards, and it rose 50 feet in half a second.
It wasn't enough.
They were heading for the roof of one of the houses. They closed their eyes and braced for impact.
Crashing through two layers of roof, their faces were hit with a dozen roof tiles.
Face scraped and bleeding, they made it out alive.
The invisible motorbike continued to soar up over London. The air shot past their ears like bullets as they climbed height to the clouds.
Gasping for breath, no-one could say anything for two minutes straight after that.
They ascended until they were just below the clouds.
"Hagrid, will you please tell me what's going on now?" Harry spat out.
"We had to leave quickly, sorry for rushing." Hagrid slowly got his breath back.
"The Order had to fight off some death eaters-"
"WHAT?"
"Yes, that's why no-one came. I had to take you away in case they used a curse on them to give away their whereabouts."
"Then they would've taken me and given me to Voldemort?!"
"Yes." Hagrid finished.
Harry's heart was still pounding four times faster than was healthy. The order had to fight off death eaters. There was no hope that everyone was going to come out alive. He hoped dearly that no-one, if anyone, Sirius was killed. That would have been a blow to the heart that would be too much to take.
They flew over and away from London, heading north. The England landscape was black, scattered with bright yellow smudges at night. It wasn't a pleasant sight at all.
They were going a lot more north, he could tell it. There were a lot less lights now, and giant seas of black which were clearly coniferous forest. They must be getting close to Hogwarts, as Hagrid's motorbike was dropping in altitude.
"We're nearly there!" Hagrid shouted.
Something didn't feel right. The motorbike was making a rusty, clattering noise and shaking. More and more every minute. They started to fall a little, then a lot. The bike's nose tilted much too far down.
"What's happening?" Harry asked.
"I don't know, it was alright before!" Hagrid replied.
Everything became visible, the huge motorbike and the two of them inside it. The light flashed frantically, before turning off.
"It must be breaking down!" said Hagrid as the bike started to jerk back and forth unbearably.
"What now?" gasped Harry.
Just as he asked that, his question was answered.
The motorbike lost all power and the engine stopped running. There was silence in the air, apart from the air blowing by. They were losing altitude rapidly and were about to topple upside-down.
"Oh no." said Hagrid.
The dark abyss of a forest was approaching quickly. The air was going past without a jet-sized gush, but a whisper.
Hagrid knew what to do.
He pulled a leaver and a huge pair of wings came from either side. The bike was thrown back slightly and was now gliding slowly down.
The pitch black ground below was approaching slowly, but seemed to be never ending.
A very low cloud came in their way. They went through it, expecting to come out the other side very quickly, but they remained in it.
The water sprayed them in the face as they blindly made their way through the cloud.
Then something changed.
It became cold.
The water droplets turned into ice snow, and the air around them became freezing cold. The motorbike froze up with ice on the top of it and the wings stood still as a statue.
"What now?" Harry gasped as he froze in his seat.
"I don't know!" Hagrid froze to his seat, his bread full of icicles.
A ghostly scream was heard from behind them. Harry turned his head but there was nothing.
Then again from the right, a horrible screaming voice echoed through the grey cloud. Harry thought he saw something this time.
Whatever was happening he had to put a stop to it. He considered getting his wand out, but then he remembered something he had forgotten.
The potion!
He took off the lid and drank all of it in one go.
Less than a second later, Harry was on the edge of the seat, gasping for air, eyes wide open. His scar felt like it was on fire, splitting his face open.
He became oblivious of anything around him as horrible visions filled his head. He saw not a dark sky, but a bright green flash hit towards him, and he felt his heart split open excruciatingly painfully. Voldemort being behind it cackling horribly loudly, his red eyes wide with triumph.
He was dead, his figure slumped down by the side of the bike, ice still.
There was a shouting, and from the dark sky came even darker, huge hooded creatures were surrounding him. It got as cold as space, and the black monsters were attacking him.
But he wasn't focusing on that. He had another vision that possessed him, one more real than he could imagine
He saw the same furious Voldemort's unbearable cackle as he walked over, shoot a flash of green light at Ron, and he was dead.
No..NO! RON! He screamed but he was paralysed. Nothing came out of his mouth.
Then Voldemort came nearer, killing Hermione.
HERMIONE! He screamed but no-one heard.
Something began to suck at the air around him, a hurricane-like gust of absolute zero cold crumpled his face. He heard the scream of a man, but couldn't do anything.
Voldemort walked over to his left, and screamed again
AVADA KEDAVRA!
Sirius fell to the floor, eyes wide open and motionless.
NOOOO! He screamed again, so loudly it filled his head many times over but didn't leave his mouth.
He was surrounded by pitch-black hooded monsters, they were sucking everything out of the air around him, it was stone cold and the vent felt like a thousand tornados. The desperate scream of a man next to him got louder.
He couldn't focus on that, he had another vision that filled his mind with horror.
Voldemort took one last look at him with his blood-red eyes and turned away. In front of him were a young man and woman, smiling at Harry.
NOOOO! Harry begged.
Before his eyes, the bright green cursed hit his mum and dad, and they screamed in agony as they vanished.
No, NO! It was just a vision! It wasn't real!
He screamed again, this time he managed to open his mouth slightly. Leaning on the side of the vehicle, his face was being levitated by several air-sucking forces in front of him.
The green light filled his face but slowly faded away. His real vision revealed five horrible pitch black heads, all sucking at the air around him, breathing him upwards off his seat.
The desperate scream of the man grew louder, and he knew who it was.
"It's not real!" He tried to scream but the air was being sucked out of his lungs by the second.
He tried snapping back into reality but the monsters a foot away from him were sucking the life out of him. The dementors were about to finish him off.
Dementors!
There was only one thing to do. The only way of saving their lives was in Harry's pocket.
He tried to reach into his pocket but his arm was thrown upwards with the breath of the several dementors. Voldemort's laugh got slightly quieter.
He used his other arm, and with an exceptional effort, forced it down into his pocket like he was defying gravity itself.
He picked at something long and sharp and grabbed a tight hold of it. Hoisting it upwards, he shouted with the spoonful of air left in his lungs:
Expecto Patr...!
A tiny spark of light erupted from his wand, before fading again.
He thought of his parents, who had seen just a moment ago, smiling down at him. That was the final ounce of happiness left inside of him.
EXPECTO PATRONUM!
A beam of bright light shot of his wand in one monstrous tidal wave. It scattered the dementors around him, he heard them wail in agony. They were all thrown back several meters.
It wasn't enough, they came back again, and they were coming at Hagrid too.
Only getting one breath of air back, Harry brought himself to breaking point again.
Once again, thinking of his parents smiling at him, he screamed
EXPECTO PATRONUUUM!
A steller-sized wave of blinding white shot out from his wand and went out into the sky around him. The dementors were thrown back like a tornado, scattering away.
Half a second later, a second wave even bigger shot out and it threw back the dementors 50, 100 feet away.
Then a third, and a fourth.
The dementors were thrown out of vision on his right, but there were too many to count. They swooped in from his left, all crowding around Hagrid, at least 20. His life was about to end.
"NOO!" He screamed.
He swiped his wand to the left, still thinking of his parents smiling at him.
The four gigantic waves clumped into one, and formed a skyscraper-sized stag. It ran towards them and knocked them all away from Hagrid with its antlers. The stag did several gigantic laps around where they were flying to push the dementors out of sight.
The bright light of his patronus got brighter as the stag shrunk into a small ball, before it exploded outwards in a nuclear-sized explosion. There would be no dementors left for miles and miles.
Harry, still struggling to get his breath back, took the wheel of the bike, and tried to steer upwards. Hagrid was left paralysed, leaning backwards, eyes still.
"Hagrid!" He called.
"Please answer, come on Hagrid, I'm me, Harry Potter, and you're about to see Fang, remember your dog Fang." Harry screamed with tears in his eyes.
It was no use trying. Hagrid had been given the dementors' kiss, a fate worse than death.
"HAGRIIID!" He sobbed into his massive chest, trying to bring his soul back to life, but couldn't. Not focusing on anything else, Harry let the motorbike start speeding down towards the forest, not caring at all about it.
"HAGRID!" He sobbed into his friend's chest.
"Hagr-"
The motorbike hit a tall tree, spun out of control, and crashed violently down into the forest.
Harry and Hagrid were thrown out of the bike, crashing down hard onto the forest floor, still as could be.
