Chapter 8: Her Hero

Touma: 12

Frenda: 9

"Fremea, I'll be back okay," Frenda told her 3 year old sister.

As she exited the room, she gave one last glance at her sleeping form before she headed.

The dark side of Academy City. The criminal underworld. Human experimentation, espionage and assassinations are a few of many criminal enterprises.

"Frenda you're late," am irritable voice said.

"S-sorry Mugino," Frenda said. Mugino Shizuri the fourth ranked level 5 also known as the Meltdowner.

"Just make sure it doesn't happen again," Mugino threatened. Frenda quickly nodded knowing it was really bad to upset her.

As Mugino grabbed a folder, she debriefed. "Do you understand," Mugino asked, however her eyes said you better not have any questions.

When Frenda shook her head, Mugino said, "Go!" Frenda scrambled out the door and towards her target. "She better not fail or else," Mugino thought.

Frenda walked torwarda her destination, "Basically, I'm dead if I screw this up," she thought. Her heart ached at the thought of Fremea not having someone to take care of her. "I wonder how disappointed and scared my sister would be of me if she knew what I was actually doing," Frenda sadly thought.

"Let's get this over with," Frenda sighed as she entered her target's residence.

A Little While After

"Goddamit Frenda," Mugino yelled as he pressed Frenda agaisnt the wall of an alley, "how could you fail like that?!"

Frenda, who cowered in fear, said, "I-I'm s-sorry Mugino."

When Mugino threw Frenda on the ground she yelled, "You know what was going to happen if you failed!"

Frenda's eyes immediately widened, "Don't kill me," Frenda begged as she saw Mugino start to activate her ability

"Someone save me," Frenda yelled at the top of her lungs.

"Too late," Mugino said before she shot her ability at Frenda. As she turned around, she heard the sound of glass breaking.

"H-how," Mugino asked when she saw a spiky haired boy holding out his right hand, "how could you stop the most powerful offensive ability?"

Frenda was in disbelief. A random stranger was able to deflect/negate Mugino's ability. "W-why are you protecting me," Frenda asked once she was able to overcome her shock.

"I don't need a reason to help someone," Touma said when he turned to face her.

Mugino laughed like a maniac. "Playing hero in this city won't get you anything. In fact you'll probably get killed," she yelled. Once she stopped laughing, she threw up a diamond crystal. "I'm gonna kill you," she yelled as she shot her Meltdowner. When the beam hit the crystal, it split into twelve separate ones.

Upon seeing that, Touma pulled Frenda close to him and stuck out his right hand. Again instead of Touma dying, the sound of glass shattering filled the air.

"Why won't you die," Mugino scowled at Touma as she shot over and over.

Even with his ability to cancel out her attacks, one eventually got passed his hand. "AHHHHHH," Touma yelled in agony as one went right through his left shoulder. Touma again yelled in pain when one went through his leg.

"STOP," Frenda cried out as she saw how much blood Touma was losing. She couldn't stand to see a random stranger take Mugino's wrath.

Touma turned to face her and said, "It's okay. We're both gonna get out alive," as he patted her head.

Frenda blushed and said, "B-basicly, how are you gonna beat her?"

Touma charged Mugino and said, "This ends now!"

He was able to deflect Mugino's shots and punched her square in the face. As Mugino flew back, she was able to shoot of one more that went straight though his back, before she fell unconscious.

When Frenda saw Mugino get knocked up she thought, "He really won?" Snapping out her thoughts, she went to the fallen Kamijou. She took of her jacket and wrapped it around the holes of where Mugino shot him.

"S-stay with me," Frenda cried out. Her tears freely falling. She saw Touma's phone sticking out his pocket. She grabbed it and called an ambulance.

"T-thank you m-my hero," Frenda said as he placed his head on her lap. "B-basically, I think I've fallen for you," she said as ran her fingers through his spiky hair.
