Warning: this chapter gets very emotional. (It's also my own spin on Hiro's life!)

Chapter 9: The Awards Ceremony

Hiro wasn't looking forward to this ceremony one bit. He absolutely hated award ceremonies (the group's graduation ceremony was a completely different story though). His experiences in high school had made sure of that, but this time was different. Nobody knew who he was underneath the helmet. Nobody knew that he was the kid who hacked the SFHS's database, and hurt so many of its students. Nobody knew what he did. He had made sure of that, but some of the families still remembered what he had done back then. And most of them still hated him for it. He had gotten back at the bullies who had ruined his life, but it cost him a lot things. Thankfully the government agent who was assigned to the case was very nice; however, it was the very same man who was going to give them the award. Hiro didn't want to be reminded of the incident, of his record, or of anything that had happened to him within those 2 months. Because what had happened in those 2 months were the worst of his life, that is, next to the moment that he lost Tadashi.

"Hiro, are you coming to the ceremony?" Honey Lemon asked, not being able to hide her worry.

"No, and I'll be fine here at base. I've got things that I need to finish," he replied back in a gruff tone, not facing anyone, but rather, paying attention to the project he was working on.

Wasabi looked at him in confusion. Normally Hiro was okay with things like this. They had gotten tons of awards while they were at SFIT with him. He had even gotten some of his own, so why was he acting like this? After all, he had accepted Tadashi's award with glee. The group left without Hiro, knowing that once he had made up his mind, he wouldn't change it, especially when it came to things like this.

Fred was down beat on the way there, but instantly perked up when he saw how many people were attending the ceremony. Over half of the city was attending, Karmi, Aunt Cass, Megan, and Richardson Mole included. Karmi and Megan were fine with sitting on the sidelines, after all, this was Big Hero 6's time to shine. But after they saw the group, they knew that something was wrong. Everyone in the audience was anticipating the whole group, not just 5 of its members. What made things even worse was that Hiro had made up his mind to stay behind at the base. GoGo entered the stage first, then Honey Lemon, next Fred, then Wasabi, and finally Baymax landed behind them.

"Wait, didn't you have 6 members? Where's your leader?" asked the government official with a skeptical look on his face.

"He had other things to do, so he wasn't able to come," GoGo replied, obviously knowing that she could get in trouble for lying at the ceremony.

"Ah. I was actually hoping to present the award to him, is there a second in command?" the government official questioned with understanding.

"Actually, most of our stuff is group decisions, our captain is just our battle strategist," Wasabi inputted.

"Oh, okay. That would actually make sense. Oh, where are my manners? My name is General Williams. It's nice to meet all of you," the general spoke.

"It's nice to meet you to!" replied Honey Lemon enthusiastically.

Meanwhile, At the Villain's Base..

"This is going to be fun," said Makati with a smile as she looked at a screen with blueprints on it. The villain's were talking to one another while the ceremony played on a screen nearby.

"Shouldn't we be interrupting the ceremony?" Reggie questioned Skull as Big Hero 6 accepted the award.

"No, we'll let them have their win today. Besides, I got something much, much better. Although I had to turn his bedroom upside down, I finally managed to find it," Skull said as she held up a red USB drive with a smile on her face.

"What is that?" asked Makita, her curiosity growing after seeing Skull's smile.

"Something that will bring the end to Big Hero 6 once and for all, if not, shatter the one thing they're trying to protect," Skull said as she put the USB drive in her pocket and got up. She walked over to the computer and pulled up a news article from a couple years back.

"However, the only problem is, I have no way to access it," She spoke as she showed the others the article.

"You're one of the best hackers in the world, if you can't, then who can?" Reggie replied back as he spun to face her in his chair.

Just then, a picture of a boy with black hair appeared on the screen.

"He can, after all, he is the created it," Skull spoke.

After the ceremony…

Aunt Cass got home to find her nephew's bedroom trashed.

"Hiro! How many times do I have to tell you to clean up your room?" she shouted angrily.

"What are you talking about? I cleaned it up last night-," Hiro replied, cutting himself short when he saw the mess his room was in. .

"Huh? It was clean when I left earlier…" he spoke as Baymax entered the room.

"Your bedroom window suggests that of recent entry from outside," Baymax said as he scanned the room.

"Why would someone rob me? I mean, yeah, I'm smart, but I don't keep any of my projects here at the house! They're usually at school or at Fred's house, where there's security!" he said in frustration and shock.

"Well, since it seems that only your room had been gone through, clean it up and find out what has been taken. Okay kiddo?" Aunt Cass spoke, looking at Hiro.

"Sure thing Aunt Cass," Hiro said as he got to work.

"I will contact the others," Baymax spoke before he started helping Hiro put his bedroom back together.

"And I will go and make sure that my bedroom is intact," Aunt Cass said as she left the room.
