They finally got to the island, so Naruto and his classmates went around the city to explore.

"This place looks so, so sad." Uraraka looked at the fruit stand, and it barely had enough for one family, much less to sell to a whole village. All the fruit inside it was rotten as well. A few others had the same thought, but didn't know what they could do to help. Deku, who was standing next to her, nodded in agreement. The village looked at the young newcomers with wary eyes.

A man tripped in the middle of the road. He was carrying a large sack over his shoulder. When Deku offered to help him up, the man shied away in fear, refusing the High Schooler's offer. Nobody was willing to offer comfort or an explanation either.

"This must be what the old man meant when he said a gang ruled here." Deku whispered, mostly to himself. "The whole town is practically wasted away."

"Let's go meet back up with Kakashi Sensei. He said he had some training for us after we stretched our legs." Deku nodded as Uraraka pulled him away.

After about fifteen minutes, everybody was gathered and Kakashi decided to start.

"Ok everyone. We're just going to do drills today so I can see where you're at. Copy me, and we'll just repeat those until dark." The students groaned. Even though the car ride was long, it would still be a while before it actually got dark.

He showed them the moves, correcting people where they needed it. Naruto was already quite efficient, so when nobody else needed Kakashi's help, he pulled Naruto away from the group.

"Keep practicing. Naruto you come with me to do some special training." Again Naruto could feel that wicked grin and shuddered. Bakugo grunted in annoyance. What is so special about him and not me? He thought.

"Ok Naruto. Do you have enough of your quirk saved up?" Naruto nodded. "After copying your quirk, I managed to get enough saved up to show you what to do. Though I am impressed you manage to sit still so long." Kakashi then climbed up a tree.

Without his hands.

"Whaaaa????" Naruto's jaw was on the floor.

"It's quite simple once you get the hang of it. Just focus the energy you've reserved into your feet. You've already learned how to control your energy into a Rasengan, so now make it latch onto your feet and connect to the tree. If you do this correctly, you'll be able climb up easy. You may even eventually be able to walk on water!" Naruto stepped up onto the tree and fell. He rubbed his head and gave Kakashi a look of betrayal.

"Keep practicing. Try making your energy... Sticky... In a sense."

"Alright! I won't let you down Kakashi Sensei!" Naruto pumped his fist into the air excitedly. "Though one question, why are you giving me special attention? That seems kinda unfair."

"Oh don't worry. I'm not giving you any special treatment. I'm going to give tips to every student. Yours however is the only one I've had a chance to copy so far."

"Oh." Naruto sighed, dejected that he wasn't 'special' (though we all know his really is :).

"Better get started, only an hour till dark." With that, Kakashi disappeared into the trees. Kakashi managed to pull one other student aside, Bakugo, and they worked on his quirk as well. Even from a distance, Naruto could hear Bakugo yelling, "DIE!"

Finally, the sun set and the kids set up tents in a park on the island. They hadn't seen any kids visit, and they brought tents anyways so they took over the area. Kakashi managed to get enough food for everyone, though he had to go quite a ways to do so.

"Heck yeah, after today I could eat a horse!" Kirishima dug into the warm food, and everybody else followed suit.

"Soo gooood!" Uraraka was probably the hungriest person there, as she had thrown up a lot after the attack.

"Arrggghhhh." Naruto wolfed down his own food, staring at Bakugo, trying to finish before him. Bakugo returned the glare, and they were the first ones done.

"Seconds!" They yelled at the same time.

"I was first!" Again, at exactly the same time. The two growled at each other as they butted heads, until that growl turned into a full roar. Deku looked nervously at the pair.

"Wow they're really going at it. I wonder if they'll become rivals." As if to answer Uraraka's question, Naruto stood up straight and pointed a finger at Bakugo.

"I'm not gonna lose to you, you hear me?" Bakugo smirked.

"Hah. As if you could even win against me. I'm gonna become the greatest No. 1 Hero who surpasses even All Might. So there is no way I'd lose to an idiot like you!"

"Gahh! I'll show you. I, Naruto Uzumaki, challenge you to a fight against me tomorrow morning!" Bakugo clenched his fist and held it out to Naruto. The two blondes had steely eyes, determined to win.

"I accept and I'm gonna blow up your dumb face!" Naruto huffed and ran off into the trees to practice more. Bakugo growled and ran off as well.

"Well that was quite a show." The students looked back as Kakashi, calm as ever, went for seconds.

"Hey aren't you going to stop them? What if they really go all out and really hurt each other?" Deku worried that his friend would get really injured and be unable go train.

"Well then I guess we'll have an even number in this class." Kakashi opened his book and started reading.

"He's joking right?" Uraraka nervously whispered to Deku.

"Yes. I am joking. I would never let one of my students die under my watch." Deku and Uraraka flinched as Kakashi was over next to them impossibly fast. The air suddenly became cold, and the students began to realize just how different their sensei was from the other teachers at U.A.

"O-ok. Hehe." Deku laughed nervously. The only people who didn't seem absolutely terrified of Kakashi were Bakugo and Naruto, though they still made sure not to cross him either.

"Hey, let's go watch them train, it'll be a good idea to see more of their quirks!" Deku eagerly ran after Naruto, as he already knew a lot about the Explosion quirk.

Though he had spent a lot of time with Naruto, who loved to show off his quirk, Deku felt there was still some things he didn't know. Still, when he caught sight of Naruto he was shocked.

"Yeah! I'm doing i-aaahhhhhhh!" All the onlookers winced as Naruto fell from the tree.

"Ok, focus my energy, come on come on!" When Naruto lifted his foot, they saw a blue light attached to the bottom of it.

"Ok. Kakashi said to make the energy sticky. Whatever that means. Guess I just have to keep going." Naruto closed his eyes and focused his energy once more.

"Aaaahhhhhhh!!!!!" Naruto managed to make it up to the second branch, about 10 feet or just over 3 meters, before the tree cracked and Naruto fell off again. This time though he was able to catch himself and land on his feet.

"What?" He walked up to the tree, inspecting it.

There was a foot sized hole in the bark. I see. Naruto thought. No I don't.

"What the heck just happened?" Naruto skimmed through his memories. I was doing good, I wanted to go faster so I used more energy. Maybe that's the problem. I have to release a constant stream, or else I either fall off or push myself off.

"Oh this is so. Dang. Hard!" Naruto prepared himself and began climbing up the tree again, slower this time. He managed to make it up 15 feet this time, or five meters, and seemed determined to stick it through until it became second nature to him.

"Interesting. He can manipulate the energy as well as use it to strengthen himself. That explains the Rasengan. Maybe he could even give energy to others. Or maybe he could..." Deku started writing in his notebook, mumbling ideas about Narutos quirk.

How did he manage to write a page already? Uraraka looked over at Naruto's page in Deku's notebook. A few students had left to train on their own, inspired by Naruto and Bakugo's resolve to become No. 1. A cold breeze came, and Uraraka shivered. Maybe it's about time to head back, she thought.

"Hey what time is it?" She asked the distracted Deku, still writing notes in his book.

"Huh?"

"I said-"

"Oh oh it's um..." He pulled out his phone.

"It's about 1 in the morning." He said nonchalantly.

"Wait-" Deku's eyes widened.

"It's one in the morning! Crap we have to train hard tomorrow, we better get some sleep or we're going to miss the fight!"

"At this rate, Naruto's gonna miss it as well." Uraraka looked over at the blonde, still going.

"How did he have that much of his quirk saved up? He must be using month's or years worth of reserves. Still, it's incredible to learn how to use your quirk in a new way like that. I wonder if that's what Kakashi pulled him aside for today."

"Yeah yeah come on. Let's just tell Naruto how late it is. I'm sure he'll come with us so he can beat Bakugo." They walked up to the tree, which had marks all over from Naruto's energy. Naruto was panting with his back on the floor.

"Hey Naruto, it's really late. You should get some sleep for tomorrow-or today really." Naruto perked up. His eyes widened.

"Holy crap it's really that late??" Naruto sat up.

"Woah." He said, holding his head as black spots swarmed his vision.

"Sorry, but I gotta stay. I'm not that good at tree-walking yet, so I need to train."

"Yeah but Naruto with your quirk, it would be highly illogical to waste your energy. Unless you have some secret reserve your not telling us about?" Naruto looked up sharply.

"No, but I'll be fine. I've managed to last this long, besides I'm sure Bakugo is training just as hard as I am." Deku sighed, knowing that once Naruto made his mind up there was no swaying it.

Once they left, Naruto smiled. It's true that he had been running out of energy, but he just got an idea.

~back in time to a few hours ago~

"NOW DIE!" Bakugo yelled as one tree he particularly didn't like went up in flames. Kirishima watched as Bakugo did something that was totally not like him.

"What the heck was that?" He asked, confused.

"Why do you care?" Bakugo was totally focused on what Kakashi sensei had told him earlier.

"Let's see. Your quirk is very strong indeed. In fact, you could probably get by without my advice, but here it is anyways. Try focusing on making more than one explosion at once." Bakugo made a face.

"Of course I can do that, what do you take me for, a weakling like Deku?" Bakugo made two particularly large explosions, one in each hand.

"Very nice. In this trick, you're going to make multiple explosions in one hand, like a firecracker. It won't be particularly strong, but since your opponent likely won't be able to escape all of them, it'll be good for wearing an opponent down. Use it for when you need to make the fight last longer. However, if you don't make enough or they're not powerful enough, then it won't work and ultimately you'll be at a disadvantage."

Bakugo nodded in understanding.

"So this will work well against that loser's friend, Fishface?"

"If you mean Naruto, then yes it would." Since Naruto shared a name with a food topping, Bakugo had taken to calling him Fishface.

"Oh I see. That is a good idea, cause even if he did get hit he'd still have to use his quirk to quicken his healing, ultimately wearing it down." Kirishima nodded wisely, even though Bakugo and Kakashi said almost exactly the same thing.

"Yeah whatever. I'm gonna kill that Fishface and teach him a lesson." Bakugo focused his quirk, and put his hand against the tree.

CRACK!!!

Though the tree was about to fall, Bakugo wasn't breaking a sweat.

"Incredible!" Kirishima said. Only a few had come to watch Bakugo practice, as they already knew what he could do with his quirk.

"AAANNND DIIIIEEEEE!!!!" Bakugo sent off tiny explosions and hit seven trees, missing three. They were small, but they sure packed a punch. A tiny hole marked each tree he hit, so deep that you could see through it. It was barely visible, but you could still look through it and see the other side.

"Wow." Kirishima looked at the tree closest to him, shocked. If Bakugo put any more power in it and sent those at people, they would have holes in them for sure.

Bakugo was now panting, as he had put a lot of effort in those little sparklers.

"Wow. Those sure don't look like much, but if those were all aimed at one person, I'm not sure how long they'd make it. It'll wear Naruto down for sure!"

Hmph. Bakugo folded his arms in satisfaction.

"Plus, there was almost no pressure on my arms. It was like they didn't even exist, despite how far they went. Though I still missed three. I need to work on my aim." Bakugo went for a little longer, sometimes going against Kirishima's rock hard body to test how effective his Sparklers were.

"Well, you've been going for pretty long already, it's pretty late. You could just go to bed right now and be completely refreshed for tomorrow." Kirishima took out his phone.

"It's about... What the crap it's 1:00 man!" Kirishima showed the phone to Bakugo, who almost blew it up had Kirishima not put it back in time.

"No. I can't give up over a little lost sleep. Besides, that fishface idiot is probably still training. I need to keep going as well until I can get all of my Sparklers to hit their target. Maybe I'll even be able to fire off twelve by that time as well."

"Ok well I'm going to bed so I can watch you fight without dry eyes. See ya!"

Hmph. Bakugo huffed in reply and continued training on his own.

Eventually, both Naruto and Bakugo collapsed from exhaustion, satisfied that they would beat the other that morning.
