Without the need to be worried about Mao causing problems, there was a window of opportunity to have a more relaxed day. Before classes started I met up with Suzaku and told him there was something important I wanted to discuss after school at the clubhouse. Coincidently, I said the exact same thing to Lelouch over the phone before arriving at school. Both separately agreed and my plan was one step closer to coming to fruition.

The day was rather nice, the weather was pleasant and lunch was filling. The classes might have been boring, but it was the good kind of boring that made you want to idol and let time go by. After what happened between me, Shirley, and Lelouch, it was a source of happiness that things could return to this peace. But that depends on how you define peace. Milly, who was simply ecstatic to hear about Lelouch and Shirley, decided she wouldn't settle for saying congratulations to them. No, that wouldn't be enough, we had to celebrate.

Pretty sure it was an excuse to throw a party, I thought she was only going to tease them about it for the next week. Instead, the men of the Student Council were secretly drafted to keep Lelouch and Shirley out of the clubhouse until decorations were set up by Milly, Nina, Kallen, and Sayoko. I told Suzaku and Rivalz at the front of the clubhouse not to worry about it since I convinced the members of Shirley's swim club to keep her busy. The moment they heard the president's plan, they were on board. As for Lelouch, I told them he would be spending time with Nunnally.

Rivalz: "But what if he sees what we're up to?"

(F/N): "Oh he won't, so go help Milly and tell her the swim club will keep Shirley busy. That reminds me, Suzaku, got a minute for the conversation I wanted to have?" I asked with a grin.

Suzaku: "If it's important-" I locked his arm. "What are you doing?"

(F/N): "All you have to do is play along." Lelouch arrived right on time and came over to us.

Lelouch: "Hey, what's going on?" I dragged Suzaku over to grab Lelouch. "(F/N)?"

(F/N): "I must confess and apologize for I lied about wanting to talk to the both of you. I will not, however, apologize for dragging you two to Nunnally."

Lelouch: "Wait a minute-"

And so I grabbed Lelouch with my other arm and began to drag the two inside to Nunnally's room. Suzaku didn't struggle since this was part of the plan to keep Lelouch busy, leaving me to only drag Lelouch, who isn't one to be called athletic or strong or capable of resisting. Nunnally was also aware of my plan to bring them to her but unaware of how literal I was when I said that I'd drag Suzaku and Lelouch with me to learn origami. It earned a laugh out of her when Suzaku told her, I think it was worth it.

Lelouch: "You could have just asked me to follow you." He said as he started folding his paper.

(F/N): "Nah, I like to keep to every word of my promises."

Suzaku: "It is nice, everyone being together. Right, Nunnally?"

Nunnally: "I just glad that with everything that's been going on, everyone's safe."

Lelouch: "Yeah, I know how you feel." A pained tone nearly slipped out of him.

Suzaku: "Did you make all of these?" He asked while looking over the completed ones on the table. "They all look like they were done perfectly."

Nunnally: "It's thanks to Sayoko, I've learned how to fold rabbits, cranes, and even flowers." I placed down my incomplete crane and got up.

(F/N): "I'll go make us some tea."

I managed to get out before Lelouch could offer to help. Suzaku couldn't since he needed to make sure Lelouch stayed there. It was also to give them all a moment to enjoy, that's what I hoped. After I exited the room, I found C.C. leaned against the wall next to the door. She was dressed in her straitjacket and she appeared absent until she noticed it was me. Without a word, she followed me down the hallway to the kitchen. While I prepped to make tea, I was bothered by her lack of words so I broke the silence.

(F/N): "Do you want to say something? We can talk later if it's going to be a long conversation."

C.C.: "D.D., she's been annoying me about you. She wants me to figure out why you're stuck in these so-called loops."

(F/N): "I appreciate her effort, but you can tell her that I said not to bother you about it."

C.C.: "That's what I was going to ask of you. But then I started thinking back to when we first met this time around."

(F/N): "And what has that brought you to?"

C.C.: "I came to a realization, that was the first time you ever asked me for help, wasn't it?" With the kettle on the burner, I stood there without a response. "You said it before, that you wanted me to think of you as a friend, tell me honestly, did we ever have such a relationship?"

(F/N): "There was... there was one time where, when you lost your memories all the way to before you got Geass, to that of a child, I took care of you when he wasn't around. I would read books to you, help you rediscover the joys of pizza, and I even taught you how to count to one hundred. What does that sound like to you?"

C.C.: "That sounds like a father reminiscing about his child, not friends who enjoy each other's company."

(F/N): "We were never really friends, we always had an odd relationship which was at its worst last time."

C.C.: "The last time we were together I hated you? Is that why you looked so heart-stricken?" I gave her an impassive look.

(F/N): "You were the one who shot me dead." The kettle began to whistle, taking it off I poured the hot water into the teapot as I continued. "Forgive me if I don't want to be reminded of how you aimed for both my knees, my shoulders, then my stomach before saying how impressed you were by how I didn't cry out in pain." I placed the kettle down. "Then you killed me."

C.C.: "I see, it wasn't a simple hatred." I rushed to finish setting up the tray and brew the tea but I froze when she grabbed me by the hand. "I would like us to speak more at length in the near future. Would you know a good time for that?"

(F/N): "I don't know what D.D. said to you but..." I sighed, giving in to her question. "The school festival, on the rooftop where I forgot everything." I lifted up the tray and put it on the serving cart. "If you'll excuse me." I stopped at the door and looked back at her. "I do mean it when I say I wish we were friends, but despite what D.D. has said I can't see you as two different people, none of you."

C.C.: "You know false tears bring pain to others, but false smiles bring pain to one's self."

(F/N): "Funny, the last time you said that to me was after Euphy's death."

Heading back to the others, when I reached the door I pushed my conversation with C.C. to the back of my mind and acted the same as when I left to make the tea. Stepping inside, they had already finished a couple of cranes of different colors. I placed the teacups down and poured each of us a cup before sitting down. I had apparently missed out on hearing some of the childhood stories between the three. We continued having a pleasant time until Milly called me and said that Shirley was back and that they were ready in the ballroom.

Shirley was embarrassed enough for the both of them when the others yelled surprised upon them entering the ballroom. I couldn't say it aloud, but I'd pick this party over Cupid Day, never liked that event, mostly because almost every single person ends up chasing Lelouch. All so Milly can potentially get the two of them together and have some fun doing it. I mainly stood to the side while the others were eating and having fun, but then the devil herself appeared beside me as I thought of her.

Milly: "Thank you for helping them."

(F/N): "Nah, I didn't do that much."

Milly: "For someone who avoids working you can be really reliable when it matters." I laughed. "I mean it."

(F/N): "I am sure you do. I just don't think I deserve thanks."

Milly: "Oh don't be like that."

Rivalz: "Hey, whatcha talking about?" He asked walking over to us.

(F/N): "Just plans for a double date with the new couple." Rivalz nearly jumped out of his skin hearing that.

Rivalz: "A double date?! I thought you said you weren't interested in prez?!"

Milly: "Rivalz, he's pulling your leg."

Rivalz: "Really?" Milly nodded while I got a laugh out of his reaction. "You really shouldn't laugh, you nearly gave me a heart attack with that joke."

(F/N): "I'm simply amazed by how you still don't get how she isn't my type."

Milly: "Your type? I have to hear this. Do you prefer quieter girls like Kallen or more brainy girls like Nina?"

(F/N): "Swing and two misses." It was Rivalz's turn to laugh as he jokingly gave an answer.

Rivalz: "Let me guess, Princess Cornelia is your type?" I didn't give an answer, just looked at him and smiled.

Milly: "No, there's no way."

(F/N): "I'm pulling both your legs, that was strike three so I'll give you a hint." I nudge Milly. "I don't have a type, just people I like. What I also like is pizza and I'm grabbing a slice before it's all gone."

Things went down well for the day, though I knew things weren't going to be peaceful forever. Mainly the events that revolved around the rescue of Tohdoh, which I cannot take part in besides making sure Lelouch's plan is the same. I can't fully commit to helping Suzaku either, in the battle that occurs, since I can't take the spotlight from him. I want to make sure it goes properly and ends with Euphy announcing Suzaku as her knight at the inauguration ceremony of Clovis' memorial art museum.

Returning home without any problems I took the chance to relax alone in the parlor. We had a maid back in the homeland, but she was getting up there in years and so instead of bringing her with us it was decided that she should retire. Maggie had served as my father's maid since before I was born and had always been like that of a grandmother. That's why as a gift for her good service my father made sure she had enough so she needn't work for the rest of her years. However, without someone to take care of the house, when we arrived in Area Eleven, I ended up taking up most of the responsibilities involved in cleaning and cooking.

The arrangement wasn't that bad since my spending money increased, but with how things were there wasn't a chance for me to go out and enjoy the wealth on myself. Alternatively, there was a comfort in knowing that my expenses were covered and that I didn't have to go anywhere to relax. That was until the next morning when I was reminded that I didn't have to do or go anywhere for things to come bother me. In the process of preparing breakfast, I heard the doorbell ring. In her inconspicuous outfit was Princess Euphemia at the door.

Naturally, I welcomed her inside and could tell from the lack of an escort that she wasn't here for official business. I offered her breakfast, to which she confessed to not having eaten yet, so the offer was taken. Putting in extra time to make sure the meal was appealing, I was satisfied with my effort and brought out the meals and coffee on the serving cart. Placing her dish on the table first, then mine, I finally sat down, seated across from her at the dining table. I realized something rather late.

(F/N): "I should have asked, did you want tea instead of coffee?"

Euphy: "No, this is quite alright, thanks. Do you make breakfast every day for yourself?"

(F/N): "We haven't gotten around to hiring a caretaker since coming here."

Euphy: "It must be a challenge, juggling work, school, and housekeeping. From what I saw coming in, it's well kept and decorated."

(F/N): "My parents would be honored to hear that, especially my mother since she had it furnished before we arrived."

Euphy: "Catherine Crowel, the definition of a successful entrepreneur in the hostile environment that is the Britannian corporate world."

(F/N): "You've read that book of hers."

Euphy: "It was... interesting." She was trying to be polite.

(F/N): "Trust me, she had me read it in front of her and I felt the same way. For a book meant to teach people how to start a small business, it's filled with chapters dedicated to her modeling hobby."

Euphy: "Being home alone most of the time must be conflicting. Between wanting to see your parents and not wanting to be troubled by them."

(F/N): "I don't mind being alone since there's a sense of independence." Euphy reacted to that word. "Not to sound rude, but why are you here?"

Euphy: "I wanted to talk to someone about recent events and the future going forward. With my sister being busy and no one else I can speak freely with, I remembered the first time we met and was hoping you would hear my questions and be direct with your answers."

(F/N): "Hm, I suppose I can be late for class. What are your questions?"

Euphy: "For starters, what is your opinion on the relationship between the Numbers and the Britannians?"

(F/N): "That's one way to ask if I'm a racist. Well, I would say that the problems between them lie in the mentality of the two."

Euphy: "Mentality?"

(F/N): "Yes, the difference in power is a symptom of the two believing and seeing things differently. As the old literary work says, I think therefore I am. In a way, so long as you see yourself as a victim you will be the victim, the same thing applies to those in power."

Euphy: "I see. So long as there are Britannians who think they are above others they will act as such." I nod as I eat. "And as they keep the power to themselves, Elevens will believe there's nothing they can do."

(F/N): "This reinforces the Britannian idea of being superior, thus creating a cycle that will eventually lead to conflict. As seen with the Black Knights. The moment there was someone to empower the Elevens, they clung to that person, seeing them as a hope for their people."

Euphy: "You're referring to Zero. We met briefly during the hotel incident, personally, I'm unsure how to feel about him."

(F/N): "Changing the hearts and minds of people isn't easy, especially behind a mask. Can I make a suggestion?"

Euphy: "Certainly."

(F/N): "Why don't you enroll in Ashford Academy?" My question caught her interest. "You would have Suzaku and me there to keep you safe, and if word was to spread that a Britannian princess was friends with an Eleven and a commoner, you would gain some interest. Of course, nobles and other royals would see it as absurd and wouldn't support you."

Euphy: "I don't know. I think it would be nice if I could, but I have my own duties that I can't abandon now."

(F/N): "Euphy, I'm going to be direct and ask, do you really have any duties or is it simply busywork from your sister to make it feel like you have responsibilities? Ultimately, my point is this, don't think like a princess alone. That won't get you anywhere. Think like an individual."

Euphy: "It sounds like you believe that there is little I can do, even though I'm a member of the royal family."

(F/N): "Pretty much, power comes from things like winning wars, amassing a large amount of wealth, and positioning yourself in seats of authority. In comparison to others in the royal family, you haven't done anything to gain real power and stand out."

Euphy: "I suppose that's true, unlike my sister I've never been one for fighting, and I've never been as smart or cunning as others in the family." Cheerlessly, she looked down at her plate. "Maybe you're right, perhaps my sister hasn't given me any real responsibilities."

(F/N): "The older sibling protecting the younger one, not exactly unheard of. If you want to rebel against the system, you could always knight Suzaku." Euphy lifted her head in surprise.

Euphy: "Guilford suggested that I choose a knight a few days ago, but how did you know about that?"

(F/N): "I didn't, I simply know you don't have a knight and with recent events, it wouldn't be unlikely for you to get one."

Euphy: "I see... Suzaku." After we finished eating I cleaned up the dishes before walking outside with her. "Thank you for the meal and your time."

(F/N): "It was my pleasure to have someone to eat with." I locked the front door. "There is one thing I want to say before you go. Don't doubt yourself too much. It's natural to compare yourself to others, but don't make that your reason for giving up." Euphy seemed heartened by my words.

Euphy: "With encouragement like that, perhaps you should be my knight."

(F/N): "Sorry, but I'm not one for knighthood, even if my parents would disown me for not accepting the offer."

Euphy: "I see, you've given me a lot to think about. Again, thank you for your time."

(F/N): "And again, it was my pleasure."

Being late for school, I was given a warning by the teacher since it was the first time I missed the start of class. Later with the Student Council, when Milly caught wind of it and asked what happened, I jokingly said I was busy having breakfast with Princess Euphemia. Clearly, most of them didn't take it seriously. I was fine with that, it would be a hassle if they did believe it and word got around. There was one person who asked if it was true, Suzaku, on our way to work wanted to know how Euphy was doing. I told him that she was fine, she needed to get some fresh air is all. When requested to keep it between us, Suzaku agreed.

It would be troublesome for both parties if it were discovered that a royal princess was visiting the home of a soldier with no one else around. Rumors would spread as fast as those from when Suzaku was knighted. I'm getting ahead of myself, I should be enjoying these last days of peace. As with each day, I learn how much I changed things. In regards to Shirley and Lelouch, they appear to be doing fine. C.C. and D.D. are beginning to build the acceptance of one another they had previously. However, I cannot help would feel that a piece on the board has changed.

Euphy visiting me out of nowhere was abnormal, and C.C., despite what I said and how I acted, was different in her nature. She held my hand out of concern, but the C.C. of this time shouldn't have that emotion yet. Perhaps I changed more than I realized when I forgot the past, perhaps there's more going on behind the scenes than I know. That is a troubling thought on its own.
