Mina Mongoose was sitting in her bedroom inside Castle Acorn, where she was living because her mother, Isabella Mongoose was a member of the Council of Acorn, the governing body of the Republic of Acorn. She was looking at a picture of herself with her late boyfriend, Ash Mongoose, who was tragically killed during a conflict with Ixis Naugus after he tried to claim the Republic of Acorn for himself.
The purple haired mongoose was looking at the picture of herself and her late boyfriend with tears in her eyes. "Ash...I'm so sorry things had to end as they did..." Mina tearfully said to herself as she looked at the picture. Suddenly, she could hear a knock on the door, and she quickly put the picture of Ash and herself back on the dresser next to her bed. She then dried her eyes and cleared her throat.
"Come in!" Mina called to whoever knocked on the door. The door then proceeded to open, and Mina's mother, Isabella peeked into the room.
"Mina, Tails is here to see you for Christmas. Are you fine with that?" Isabella Mongoose asked her daughter with a soft voice.
Mina silently nodded. "Yes, I would like that very much." She replied.
Isabella nodded at that. "Alright, then I will let him in." She said as Tails walked into the room. "I'll leave you two alone for now." She added as she closed the door again.
"Hey, Mina..." Tails said with a look of concern on his face.
"Hey, Tails..." Mina sighed, sounding bleak.
"It's about Ash again, isn't it?" Tails asked her.
Mina nodded at that. "Yes, it is...I still feel terrible about what happened on that day, and I still really miss him..." She sighed once again, sounding even bleaker.
Tails looked even more concerned at that and proceeded to sit down on the bed next to Mina. "Look, I understand that you still feel terrible about what happened back then, and that you miss Ash, but he would've wanted you to move on, trust me." He told the purple haired mongoose as he placed his hands on her shoulders.
Mina nodded once again. "You're right Tails...I'm just glad that you decided to replace Ash as the manager of the Forget Me Knots as well...I just didn't know what us Forget Me Knots would've done if we didn't have a manager anymore...Most likely we would've had to disband..." She spoke, a slight smile forming on her face.
Tails smiled a bit at that as well. "I know, it's the least I can do for you, Mina, after you've helped the Freedom Fighters with some tough jobs in the past." He replied to her.
Mina smiled and nodded before proceeding to hug Tails. "Thanks, Tails. That's exactly what I needed. Thanks for the sweet words." The purple haired mongoose told the yellow fox.
Tails smiled more as he hugged Mina back. "Anytime, Mina. I was happy to provide some comfort for you." He replied to her.
Mina then let go of Tails. "Say, now that you're here anyway...Would you like to attend the Christmas dinner my mom is preparing? I'm sure she can set an extra plate at the table for you." She suggested.
Tails smiled some more. "I'd love that." He replied to her.
"Alright! I'll go tell mom to set an extra plate at the table for you!" Mina beamed as she got up from her bed and rushed out of her bedroom to inform her mother that Tails was going to stay for Christmas dinner.
Later, once Christmas dinner was finished, Tails and Mina walked outside and stood outside the front doors of Castle Acorn. "Thanks a lot for attending Christmas dinner tonight, Tails. I really appreciated you being here with me and mom tonight." Mina told Tails with a smile before she kissed the yellow fox on his forehead, causing him to blush and smile.
"Anytime, Mina. Well, I must be off now. It was really fun attending Christmas dinner with you and your mother. Bye for now!" Tails smiled and waved before flying off into the cold wintery night, blushing madly. "Ohmigosh, Mina kissed me...I've never felt so great before in my life..." Tails couldn't help but say to himself in an excited voice.
Mina had gone back into Castle Acorn in the meantime and went back to her bedroom, lying down on her bed as she hugged her pillow. "Maybe I am able to move on from what happened to Ash after all..." The purple haired mongoose sighed happily.
