Do What You Gotta Do
Hadley's POV
I skidded my bike to a stop behind the others looking out past the ocean to the Isle of the Lost in the distance feeling my heart beating wildly in my chest at the thought of going back there but this time I planned on not seeing the one face I so desperately wanted to but knew I couldn't without falling into hold habits because CJ was right...Harry Hook had me hooked.
"...'Nobel steed, proud and fair you shall take us anywhere'..." Mal spelled and I sighed revving my bike a little since the last time we did this was terrifying and I wasn't even the one driving, I pushed the fear down and drove my bike forward off the cliff with the rest of the others and the spell kept us from falling below the water and we drove on the water's surface towards the Isle passing right through the barrier.
Third Person's POV
Chad Charming was spraying water from a water sprayer as Jane anxiously paced beside him waiting for Carlos to arrive as PJ stood beside her waiting for Hadley since he so desperately wished to apologize to her but so far she hadn't been returning any of this calls or texts and it's been a week.
"Oh...looks like Carlos forgot about your birthday huh?" Chad laughed.
"Well maybe not, maybe he just took the wrong trail or something" Jane argued. "Or you know what they probably don't celebrate birthdays on the Isle maybe it's like a cultural thing" she added.
"Oh yeah...or maybe he just forgot, you never know" Chad chuckled again.
"Shut up Chad" PJ snapped at him glaring at the insensitive boy.
"Hey Chad look, there's people taking selfies!" Jane exclaimed pointing up the hill and Chad's head snapped up towards where we pointed before he handed Jane the water sprayer and ran away.
"Mindless little drones!" Jane and PJ heard and looked up seeing Audrey but she wasn't dressed like her normal self and was holding Maleficent's scepter in her hand. "How could you forget that I was supposed to be your Queen!"
"Time out okay, okay time out!" they saw Chad yell running up to her and PJ rolled his eyes knowing how stupid and naïve Chad Charming was for attention and even more when he moved to stand behind Audrey after all but begging the new evil Audrey.
"Happy Birthday to You!" Audrey sang before stamping the scepter down and a cloud of pink smoke came out out it and the two in the ruins over the lake watched as everyone started falling asleep by the looks of it. "Happy Birthday to You!" she stamped the scepter again sending more people off to sleep before coming to a stop at the top of the hill looking down at Jane and PJ. "Happy Birthday dear Jane" the pink cloud was slowly approaching the two sending more and more people to sleep as it cascaded down the hill. "Happy Birthday...to You!"
"The Enchanted Lake" Jane whispered after the two hid behind the pillars and PJ's eyes widened understanding nodding at each other before they walked into the lake watching the cloud of smoke grow nearer, they sucked in deep breaths and lowered their heads beneath the water...
Hadley's POV
After we'd passed through the barrier safely we rode through the alleyways pulling up against a railing outside the Curl Up & Dye pulling our helmets off and hopped off our bikes and my eyes instantly moved around hoping not to see a flash of red coats or silver hooks and was pleased when I didn't see him.
"Hey...I'm me again!" Mal cheered looking over herself and I sniggered.
"Duh evil magic doesn't work here" Celia replied making me smile. "Kind of the point" she pointed up at the barrier that once again surrounded us, I could feel it suffocating my pyrokinesis abilities and just pain suffocated me with the scent of smog and the damp air.
"Welcome back sis" I smiled bumping her shoulder.
"Thank you" Mal smiled as we started following Celia who was leading us towards her father's arcade, I used to love coming here as a kid and it used to be my place to escape my parents.
We walked up to the door and started banging a tune against the door and a stomping sound came back from the other side making me smile watching Celia dance to it before she returned it with a few more knocks the door slid open and she waved us forward, I scoffed a little at the others impressed faces before we followed her inside.
"Daddy!" Celia yelled seeing her Dad and my smile grew watching as he embraced her before they did a little dance together before he leant towards her for a cheek kiss but Celia tapped his hat instead and tried to run away only for her Dad to catch her, it was nice to see that some villains actually cared for and loved their kids.
I moved down the stairs watching Celia grab the key that would unlock our Dad's lair but I couldn't help look around at all the old games having fond memories of hanging out here even a few times Harry and I would pretend to 'run into' each other but really we had dates here and pretended like we were taking bets and goading each other for our turf war but really we were just having fun...I groaned since I literally couldn't come to the Isle without thinking about him.
"Uh guys...come look at this" Carlos called and I turned seeing him sitting in front of the old television and we all walked over seeing the one and only channel playing the news.
'There are rumors that Sleeping Beauty's daughter Audrey is behind the spell, were trying to discover who is responsible for these vicious lies and which villain has perpetrated this evil' I scoffed at the news reporter since they just couldn't believe that one of their own had the potential for evil and it angered me so much. 'We have an update, it's what?' I frowned furrowing my brows at the screen. 'It's moving this way...It's moving this way!' the screen cut out and we all shared a look before we headed for the exit walking out but I stopped.
"Wow rookie mistake" Carlos complained pointing at the group of pirates sitting atop our bikes with Harry Hook sitting in the seat of mine, he looked different and didn't have this usual red pirates coat, he now had a black sleeveless one.
"Long time nay see" he chanted towards us.
"Get off my bike Hook!" I exclaimed as the boys moved forward to stop them.
"Catch me if you can Jay!" he laughed speeding off.
"Over the roofs, cut 'em off!" Jay exclaimed hitting Carlos' shoulder they and Evie all took off in different directions with Celia attempting to follow but Mal caught her.
"Hey, hey not you" she said and I nodded my head.
"They got this, we gotta go find the ember" I told her since I didn't want to be anywhere near Harry.
"You should go help them" Mal argued and I gave her a look, I actually wanted to see Dad anyway which killed two birds with one stone...I wouldn't have to see Harry and I got to see my father which after finding out I had his powers I'd wanted more than anything.
"It's good timing, it's right about his nap time" Celia cut in seeing as I wasn't budging and we left heading away from the main bazaar and houses of the Isle towards the old tunnels that the villains had began to dig when they were first banished here as a way out but it was pointless and pretty soon I was the gates which were decorated to look like a skull face and the words 'GET LOST' above them, Celia ran towards them and used her key to unlock the gates.
"Hey!" Mal called making us look up at her. "How big is that dog?" she asked nodding behind Celia at the sign that read 'Beware of Dog' and I smirked knowing that was all for show, Dad didn't have Cerberus here and it was purely a vinyl recording of the beast that kept everyone out of his lair which is just what Dad wanted and I knew that from the few times I'd actually visited him all those years ago growing up here.
"You'll see" Celia replied and I had to bite back the laughter and hide my smile from my sister seeing her scared look from the corner of my eyes as Celia pulled the gate open and we headed inside. "Okay stay quiet, it echoes like crazy in here" she whispered turning back to us before we continued walking towards the bike that ran on the track which lead to Dad's main living areas but Mal jumped when the dogs started barking and I smirked looking up at the old tuba horns in the pipes which traveled the sound.
"Come on Mal" I laughed walking towards the bike, Celia and I grabbed the miner helmets off the bike handles and put them on our heads hopping onto the two seats and Mal stood on the wood sides holding on as Celia and I pedaled down the track.
Electricity crackled around us and we heard more dog barks which Mal looked up at the sound and I bit back the laugh since she...all of us used to torment Carlos for being afraid of dogs and now she was scared of a dog, we stopped once we reached the end of the track and hopped off putting the helmets back where they were and went on foot the rest of the way.
My eyes immediately fell on our father sitting on his throne in the center of the room head lied back, foot up on one of the arm rests clearly asleep from the snores making me roll my eyes as we walked down the stairs quietly as to not wake him and when the dog barks started again Mal looked around, I nudged her arm and nodded behind us towards the record player and she scoffed shaking her head before they fell on the ember which was sitting in a small pedestal on a table beside his throne and stepped forward but Celia stopped her holding out her arm and shook her head before pointing her to go to the right then looked at me and pointed me to the left, we nodded and split up tip-toeing around the long way and just as we reached the back of his throne I reached out for the ember but the scratchy record suddenly cut out.
"What are you doing here?" Dad spoke up making me jump a little and hesitate as his head looked up over at Celia who'd pulled the needle off the record.
"I noticed you were low...on canned corn" Celia replied and tossed him a silver can as I slowly reached for the ember once again as Mal kneeled beside me and just as my hand wrapped around it Dad's hand shot down grabbing my wrist making me gasp as he turned to us pulling his ember out of my hand
"Hi Dad" Mal and I spoke at the same time and I saw Celia's shocked look our way as Dad removed the sunglasses from his eyes then waved at us.
"Quite the show you two put on the other day"
"Right back at you" Mal spat back at him as I stood upright and crossed my arms across my chest.
"Mm...I was just coming to see you's" he replied standing up from his throne.
"Really, I wonder why...is it because I'm going to be Queen?" Mal asked him and I scoffed.
"Ah!...now Mal don't be bitter" Dad laughed.
"You abandoned us when we were babies"
"No" Dad quickly protested. "No I left your mother" he argued pointing at us. "She's not the easiest person to get along with" he added and I scoffed.
"Ya think" I spat back at him.
"Huh well you see, we have something common already, we all hate your mother"
"No!" Mal argued holding up a finger in front of his face as he came towards us throwing a scarf around his neck. "We don't hate our mother" she argued and I rolled my eyes since she may not hate our mother but I certainly did and would rather Dad then our Mom. "She may be a raging lunatic but at least she stuck around" she added and I had to give her that.
"Oh boo-hoo" Dad mock pouted at us. "Wake up and smell the stink" he growled at us moving behind us. "You think you had it rough, I used to be a GOD!" he yelled the last bit and even I jumped a little. "I had an entire world which bore my name and now I have nothing!" he threw the can at our feet and it bounced up nearly hitting me if I hadn't dodged out of its way. "And you two have no idea what that feels like"
"Really because for sixteen years I had nothing and now I have a whole world" Mal argued making me frown since maybe she had a whole world but I was still trying to find my place.
"And unless we get that ember it's game over" I added getting to the matter we'd came here for, our daddy issues could wait for another time and held my hand out for him to hand it over...it was after all my birthright as I inherited his powers but Dad swatted it away.

"Hold please" he argued before the lights dimmed and I scoffed. "Listen, little girl you're talking to a God and I don't wanna hear the drama, kindness ain't my brand" I raised my eyebrow at him since he was seriously breaking out in song right now.
"Oh, I guess that's why you ran" Mal sang back making me laugh since this was gonna be interesting.
"Try being married to your mama!" Dad argued shaking his finger at her.
"You stink at being a Dad" Mal sand making me smile.
"Poor girls, are you sad?" Dad sang back and I glared at him.
"Not as sad as you without your powers" I sang back smirking a little. "We didn't come to fight"
"For once do something right" Mal added holding her hand out for the ember.
"I steal souls, were you expecting flowers?" Dad asked her wrapping the scarf around her neck.
"We only need you cause we came here for something" she sang ripping the scarf off and threw at Dad.
"I've given you's everything, by giving you nothing" Dad sang and I rolled my eyes at him.
"By giving us nothing" Mal and I argued singing that along with Dad's last part with Mal and Dad stomping their feet like children.
"I did what I had to do"
"No, you only did what's best for you" Mal sang glaring at Dad.
"Well, you could learn a thing or two, when push comes to shove you do what you gotta do, yeah" Dad sang out as he bumped hips with Mal and I before he sat in his throne.
"You were never there guess you don't have a phone you never called to say, 'I miss you'" Mal sang and I rolled my eyes given phones didn't even work on the Isle so that line was pretty pointless.
"Ha ha ha, are you kidding, is this a joke?" Dad laughed. "You need to let…You two are stronger with those daddy issues" I rolled my eyes.
"Oh, thank you!" Mal spat at him.
"Show me some respect it ain't easy to neglect...my attention would've made you softer" Dad sang into an old candle stick holder which currently held the ember pretending it was a microphone as I glared at Dad since his attention would not have made us softer.
"Ooh-hoo should we be proud?" Mal and I asked him. "Don't turn this thing around"
"I guess you are your father's daughters, ha, ha, ha" I couldn't help smile at that one actually a little proud to hear him call us his daughters and that I was like him.
"Don't think we need you, we just came here for something" Mal argued holding her hand out for the ember once again.
"I've given you everything, by giving you 'me' nothing" we all sang the last bit together as Dad spun us into his arms.
"I did what I had to do, I made it on my own, no thanks to you" Mal sang jabbing her finger against Dad's chest pushing him back.
"Well, you could learn a thing or two" Dad argued holding up two fingers. "When push comes to shove you do what you gotta do" he sang right as Mal sat down on his throne and I smirked sitting on the armrest beside her.
"How 'bout I go with you and we'll spend some time?" Dad sang with a smirk leaning on the other armrest.
"How 'bout you stay here cause you're out of your mind!" Mal and I shot back.
"Let's make new memories, you two can show me the town" Dad sang smirking at me quickly before looking back at Mal.
"No, you can keep your memories now" I argued hiding a smirk but really wished we could take him and you know not have him roast all of Auradon.
"Get over it" Dad spat at us
"We are over it!" Mal and I sang back as Mal held up her hand in his face as we stood.
"I'm over you being over it!" we all sang together.
"Let's dance" Dad added grabbing his tambourine and started dancing and rattling it before throwing it at Mal who caught it.
"I did what I had to do" we all sang as Dad headed up the stairs. "No, you only did what's best for you" we all sang as Mal rattled the tambourine before tossing it to the ground following him. "Well, you could learn a thing or two" we all sang as she held out her hand for the ember yet again but Dad grabbed her hand and pulled her up before reaching back for me and I took his hand letting him pull me up. "When push comes to shove, you do" Mal shoved Dad who ended up bumping into me "...when push comes to shove, you do..." Dad bumped into Mal sending her falling back a bit. "When push comes to shove you do what you gotta do, yeah" we all sang out going back to back with each other before Dad held his hand next to his mouth making fake applause sounds.
"Ha, please" Mal and I scoffed at him.
"Give us the ember" I demanded holding my hand out towards him again.
"The ember only works for me" he argued and I rolled my eyes.
"No it'll work for me" I argued back. "We're blood and I seem to have inherited your powers" I added wiggling my fingers towards him.
"Your still only half Hades" he replied as he chuckled holding up a finger and I narrowed my eyes at him. "The ember won't do everything for you that it does for me"
"We'll take our chances" Mal argued with him and I watched Dad narrow his eyes briefly at us before he placed the ember into my hand and I smiled at him clutching it tight before quirking my lips in a tight lipped smile towards him before Mal and I turned heading up the stairs to leave.
"If it gets wet its game over" Dad called to us as we walked away and Mal mockingly waved without even turning back but I did seeing Dad watching us so I mouthed 'Thank you' and saw him smile and nod before we turned the corner and he was out of sight.
"I guess that's why he's always asking about you two" Celia spoke as we started walking out of the cave and Mal paused a little seemingly shocked by that.
"Evie is the only one who knows that he's our Dad" Mal replied and I frowned since that wasn't entirely true but I was not about to tell her that since she was still oblivious to my past with Harry. "And as far as I'm concerned he doesn't exist" she added making me frown sharing a look with her before we continued our way out meeting up with the others once again without our bikes having not been able to catch up with the pirates which meant we had to walk all the way back to Auradon.
"Alright get in, get out" Mal stated as we approached the bridge. "Jay you good?"
"Yeah" Jay nodded as I looked around.
"Okay hold on" Mal stopped as just as we were on the edge of the barrier and Jay used the remote to open it up enough for us to walk through as I threw the ember in my hands catching it as we passed through and I felt the jolt of power that it emitted feeling my very body with pure untainted underworld heat.
"Whoa you gotta a little Hades thing going" Evie pointed out and I frowned confused until she pointed to my hair so I held it up seeing more blue was running through it diluting the amount of purple and red in my hair.
"Wow" I laughed seeing even my clothes had traces of blue over my purple jeans and jacket.
"That thing packs a punch huh?" Carlos added making me smile further before we all heard something land behind us and we all spun with a gasp seeing two figured roll back onto their feet and my eyes widened when I saw it was Harry and Gil.
"We made it bro!" Gil laughed as the two hugged and I felt my whole body froze...Harry had jumped through the barrier...he was free.
