"So, you said that Percy wanted to give something to me?" I asked.
"Yeah, if we can find him. He should be in the arena training kids," Nico said.
"Hmm, I thought him and Annabeth were going to go back to New Rome yesterday?"
"Yeah, well, they were supposed to but Percy was able to convince Annabeth to stay for a few more days after you had destroyed the pavilion and all," Nico responded.
Nico led me to what I was pretty sure was the arena. We walked inside and I stared in awe at the place, it was amazing. Well, most of camp was amazing, but I didn't expect the arena to look like this.
"Hey over here!" Yelled Percy, I looked to where his voice was coming from. He was dressed in armor from head to toe and had riptide in his hand. Annabeth stood beside him also covered in armor with a weapon in her hand.
I walked over while Nico went to sit on the several benches that were lined up the side of the structure. Of course he pick the only shady spot as well.
I walked up to Percy and Annabeth, Percy then quickly ran to the benches, grabbed something, then hurried back. "Here," He said handing me something. I opened it up and stared at it. It was my very own neon orange camp t-shirt and a leather string with a clasp. I started to cry.
"Wait, what's wrong? Do you not like it?" Asked Percy.
"I-I'm home." I said now crying my eyes out. The two of them just wrapped me in a hug as I cried.
They backed away and I whipped the tears off my cheeks and eyes, "Thank you," I said.
"You cry a lot," Annabeth said with a smile on her face.
"I know," I said with a small laugh.
"Okay then. Well Chiron told me that while we're here that I can train you," Percy said, "So I thought that this was the perfect time."
Annabeth walked away and came back with a sword for me. I quickly took my cloak off and quickly grabbed the sword. Annabeth then showed me how to properly hold it.
"Okay, now swing at me," I did what Percy said, "Good for your first time holding one, but here, like this."
He swung his sword to show me how it was done. It took me a few tries, but I was eventually able to copy the action. After about an hour of practicing, I was a sweaty mess. "Huh, I haven't had that much exercise in a while," I said in between gasps. Percy just laughed and we kept at it for about another two hours. Afterwards I was exhausted, my legs felt like jelly and I was panting so hard I could barley breath.
A bell rung, but it didn't sound like the lunch bell. I looked over at Percy with a confused look on my face. He looked shocked. "What? What is it?" I asked. He started running out of the arena and yelled, "The camp is under attack!"
No, no, no, I shouldn't have taken my cloak off, I thought as I hurried to put my cloak back on, No this is all my fault. I raced out of the arena. I raised myself up in the air so I could see what was happening, there were hundreds of monsters outside the camp's barrier. Most of the camp was already in armor and ready to fight and I saw a few campers running the littler kids to safety, I saw Coral with them. I didn't have time to worry about her though. This was my fault and I was going to fix it. Still in the air, I pulled myself towards where Percy was standing with riptide ready. I lowered myself so that I was right beside Percy.
"I have a plan," I said to him.
"Please, you're not ready to fight just go with the younger campers and we'll take care of it," He responded.
"No, you don't get it, I was the one who attracted them here, its my problem. I shouldn't have taken my cloak off as long as I did. Now, what I want you to do is tell everyone to cover their ears and get ready to fight." I didn't have time to hear what Percy had to say, I lifted myself off the ground and pulled myself towards the monsters. I heard Percy yell something to everyone, hopefully he told them what I had said.
I lowered myself so that I was about a hundred feet away from where the monsters stood. They started to run towards me, I could here yelling from behind me. I took a deep breath and let out a high pitch screech that could be heard for miles.
The monster in front of me dropped everything they had in their hands or hooves or whatever they had to cover their ears. The camp behind me took that time to start attacking they ran at the monsters with weapons ready. I once again lifted myself up to get out of their way. I then stuck two fingers in the air and focused on a thin line of air around me, I took that air and I slammed in onto the ground where the most monsters were. In an instant a good portion turned to gold dust, but unfortunately that took the last of the energy that was holding me in the air. I started to fall, not being able to yell to anyone and warn them, I just kept falling. Just as I thought I would hit the ground it hit, water? I opened my eyes that I hadn't realized that I had closed, and saw Percy riding a bubble of water, which probably looked weird, but I was too weak to care.
"I see you need help," Percy laughed.
"Huh, thanks." I said wearily. Percy took me to the infirmary to rest then went right back to fighting. I wasn't there long before I fell asleep.
I woke up maybe 20 minutes later to see the infirmary filled with patients covered in cuts and bruises, and some even had broken arms or legs. A wave of guilt washed over me, I should have never taken my cloak off, and now people were hurt.
I got up out of bed. Will must have seen me because he walked over to me and said, "You should probably get back to bed Trish."
"No."
"Doctors orders," he said angrily. He grabbed my wrist and try to pull back to the bed. I yanked my wrist out of his grasp and walked towards a camper who had a broken arm.
"Hey this isn't going to hurt a bit," I said as I gently placed my hands on his arm. Will came over and started to yell at me about who knows what. I just ignored him, I mean Nico did, why couldn't I? "Done," I said as I let go of the boy's arm, "Here try to move it."
The boy slowly took the sling his arm was in off and was able to move his arm like nothing had ever happened to it. Will stared in awe at the boy's arm. "H-how did you do that?" he questioned.
"Cursed," I said raising my hand slightly in the air as I walked over to the next person.
As I was healing the next girl, Will came over and said, "You know you shouldn't be using your curse if it makes you faint so much."
"Listen, I'm not like Nico. When I use my curse, I use my energy, I don't fade into the shadows. Its like running a marathon, you run and get tired, but after you get some rest, your fine. That's the same way with me, I feel completely fine right now because I got a few minutes of rest. I could heal everyone in this entire infirmary without even breaking a sweat. Plus, healing doesn't use as much of my energy as some of the other things I can do."
Just then Nico walks into the infirmary looking for Will. "Hey Nico," I said, "can you get your boyfriend to stop bothering me so I can concentrate."
"Sure," he said as he dragged Will out of the infirmary, "Come on Sunshine, you need a break."
"But there's still people who need healed," Will whined.
"Trish can take care of them," he said as him and Will disappeared out the door. I just laughed, they're cute together I thought as I kept healing more people. Soon word got around, and people were crowding around me to see me do my magic. It was kind of annoying though, I don't really like to be watched as I'm working, but they refused to leave.
Since I was busy healing people who were hurt fighting, I forgot to eat lunch. So, Jamie went and got me some, him and Coral then ate in the infirmary with me as I worked.
By the middle of the afternoon I was finally done. Even if the person had just a scratch, I would still heal them. I felt extremely guilty about what had happened, even after Percy, Annabeth and Jamie told me that it wasn't my fault.
Afterward, Percy and I went back to training, I wanted to get as much training in as possible before they left. But ever so often, we would have to take a break so that I could put my cloak back on. We would usually just sit and talk, it was nice. And to think four days ago he was just another character from a book I had read.
Thanks for reading! I hope you liked it. I should probably tell you that I have a goal to do one chapter a day for the entire year, so right now I'm just trying to get caught up. So wish me luck and hopefully I can complete that goal.
