"So, as you know we called you a n because of the apparent danger the people of this town are in. We also know that it the same gang because they left this..." He said walking into a bigger room with a car and fbi investigators walking around back and forth.
"The symbol. From uhh, that one Raid they did last time. Before we came here." Sylvia said looking at the bullet hosed car.
"There was a drive by. Someone named Ryder Indigo. He's expecting to make a full recovery. So I'll have you guys go over and ask him questions. I hear you were useful for your information retrieving." He said
"Yeah but I can also do other things like actually investigating." Chase said hoping this wouldn't be a repeat of the last time he tried with this gang.
"Okay. You said Ryder?" Chase asked.
"Yeah, here's the card with his information, the hospital he's at and the room he's in."
"I know who he is..." chase said feeling dreadful the see him again. "I'll go visit him today then. We aren't doing much."
"Okay, we'll call you when we can. This guy is good at what he does." He said before getting back with the other investigators.
"Guess we go to the hospital then." Chase said turning at making his way out the door.
"You go do that, I'm gonna stay around here for a bit. Maybe know the other dogs if I can find them." Sylvia said wanting to make some other friends besides the ex paw patrol.
"Okay, Stay Safe." Chase said kissing her head.
"You too." She said returning the favor
Chase walked out and walked to the only hospital he could remember.
LINESEDE
"Do you ever wonder where we would be if we never disbanded." Zuma asked
"No, I don't think I've thought of it once." Rubble said while taking a bite of his sandwich.
"Oh, I do. What about if chase had stayed? Or tracker for that matter." Zuma asked pondering about it.
"I don't know, Rocky is trying to learn the guitar for his kids. Plus you are always asking hard questions. Not like chase or tracker will magically show up sooo..." rubble shrugged finishing off his sandwich.
"Yeah but still, me and you were close. Probably because we were the youngest and no one really listens to us but still. Everest sometimes listened but wasn't even there most the time." Zuma said thinking about a peanut butter jelly sandwich.
"Hello, do you know where the hospital is?" A voice said from behind them.
"Oh, it 6 blocks that way. But you kinda sound like a friend I used to know." Rubble said still staring at the building in front of them. Zuma has the curiosity to turn around.
"Chase!" Zuma exclaimed jumping off and hugging him.
"Yeah, i didn't really listen to either of you. Which umm. I'm sorry." Chase started
"Who cares about that. Your here. And bigger." Rubble said pushing his arm.
"Why are you here?" Zuma asked
"I heard something about Ryder. And a gang. But I'm mainly here because... I'm not sure." Chase said thinking about it.
"So, you are going to the hospital." Zuma asked
"Yeah, I'm gonna go see Ryder. If he's awake I need to ask him questions." Chase said thinking about the clipboard. He could just remember though.
"At least me and chase are in the single gang!" Rubble said raising his paw.
"Ac-"
"Don't leave me hanging." He said trying to get chase to accept it.
"I have a girlfriend..." chase said looking at rubbles eyes turn from excited to disappointment. "At least you guys recognized me. Rocky and Marshall attacked me." Chase chuckled feeling glad someone knew him.
"How could we forget your voice? It's just a little deeper. Although you do look different." Zuma explained looking at his old friend.
"Do you guys wanna come with me? I wanna know about tracker." Chase said because he heard him speak of tracker.
"Okay, but you need to tell us about your invisible girlfriend." Rubble said being suspicious of chase and no other girl.
"Okay. So what's with tracker?" Chase asked
"He just disappeared like you did. We haven't seen him since... before the ceremony."
"He probably busy. I've been busy." Chase said thinking about tracker. Although he wasn't fond of him he still worried.
"So, where this girlfriend of yours?" Rubble asked.
"She said she'd stay at the station. Probably to get used to everyone since we are gonna be working with them." Chase said not thinking much. He trusted her with his life. "She's afraid of planes though."
"Okayyy... there are some creepy people and dogs around here." Zuma said putting chase on edge.
"She's fine, she's a detective. My partner in crime ever since I went to barkingburg." Chase explained
"Nice to meet you." A Belgium Shepard said raising her paw.
"Nice to meet you too. The dogs back in barkingburg are usually old and grumpy." Sylvia said looking around at the younger pups
"Oh, yeah but we have some older dogs... they are pretty weird..." A malinois stated.
Sylvia didn't seem to mind because she has seen worse than some corrupted dogs and humans.
"So where you from?" The Belgium Shepard asked
"Barkingburg." Sylvia responded.
"Wow..." they said wondering why she's here. Then they realized. "Oh you must be with chase. From the old paw patroller." The girl said
"Yeah..." Sylvia said being tired of being referenced as 'his boyfriend'
"Cool, we heard from the the other old staff the trained him that he was the best in the class. He still holds the training course record." One explained
"Cool, I'm gonna go find him. He's probably wait g for me." Sylvia said turning around and attempting to find the exit.
She saw multiple exits so it wasn't to hard.
All she had to do was head in the direction chase went. Which was most likely to Callies pet store so that was her first place of interest.
At the store
As Everest walked in she heard the usual chime that came with walking in.
"Coming." She heard a familiar voice said from a back room.
Soon Katie walked out.
"Oh, Sylvia how are you doing?" Katie asked
"Good." Sylvia responded. "Do you happen to know where the hospital is. Chase said he was heading there." Sylvia asked
"Oh, is about 6 blocks that way. It's not that hard to miss." Katie said
"Oh, I thought that was an office building." Sylvia said feeling embarrassed now.
"Oh, no that the hospital." Katie smiled
"Okay, well I'll talk to you later then." Sylvia said walking out.
Katie nodded and walked back to her previous position.
Sylvia knee she was behind so she started to run hoping that she could intercept chase on the way there.
"Can we sit down. My legs hurt from working today." Rubble asked with a groan.
"Ahh stop being a wuss.." Zuma said
"Next bench we see I'm go-" rubble started before seeing a wooden bench with a table and sprinting after it.
"What the, why is he so fast?" Chase said in awe as he watched rubble take off.
"I'm not suwe bwo. He seemed to get faster and faster. Can definitely out run rocky. Definitely not Marshall. He's fast with those long legs. He might finally be taller than you." Zuma said looking at the top of chases head and thinking of Marshall's height roughly.
They caught up to a tired rubble and sat down on the opposite side.
"Boy your fast." Chase complimented.
"Yeah, guess I am." Rubble said between his breaths.
"Hey Zuma, I haven't asked but do you have a girlfriend?" Chase asked
"Yeah, I do actually. Her name is Ella..." Zuma said thinking of her.
"Oh, cool. So rubble is just the only one then." Chase said giving a sly grin towards him.
"Hey, you still have a fake girlfriend. Not like she's real or anything." Rubble said still denying the very likely fact that he had one.
"Okay, if you say so." Chase said hoping she would just randomly turn up out of nowhere.
Surprisingly she did turn up out of nowhere. Although it wouldn't show chases best moment.
Chase glanced over rubbles thick shoulders and noticed a certain grey and white German Shepard.
"Hey look! There she is." Chase said pointing towards her. Although she looked worn out.
"Are you dumb? That Everest." Rubble said instantly regretting his choice of words as he noticed it wasn't Everest.
"No, that's my girlfriend. How do you get them mixed up?" Chase said looking at rubble.
"Ahh, I'm... here." Sylvia said as she panted and caught her breath.
"Wha- but- how?" Rubble said trying to find words.
"I told you she isn't real." Chase said to them. "He didn't believe me that I had a girlfriend." Chase whispered to her.
Chase looked at the 2 side looking at each other awkwardly.
"Oh, Sylvia. This is Zuma and this is rubble. Zuma, rubble this is Sylvia." Chase said introducing them all to each other.
They exchanged a couple of small words besides chase spoke up. "Should we go see.. R-Ryder." Chase said trying to push off the fear.
They all nodded and made their way to the hospital. It wasn't to far from their location.
The front desk lady looked up and walked in and gave an annoyed look.
"Are you here to see Ryder?" She said in a sad low monotone voice already knowing Zuma and rubble from multiple visits.
"Yes, we are." Chase said wanting to get the process over with.
"Hey Annie! Can you lead them to room 56." The yelled to a nurse who was out in a second.
"Yes ma'am." She said looking down to the pups and walking down a long narrow hallway that reminded chase of the times he was in here because of Marshall hurting himself.
"This is your stop." She said opening the door.
They all peeked over and saw what seemed to be a napping Ryder.
"Oh, he's asleep." Chase said turning around.
"Chase?" Ryder called out noticing his canine companion.
Chase hoped this didn't happen.
"Y-yeah... sir." Chase said slowly turning around to look at the now wide eyed Ryder.
"It's really you.." Ryder said petting his head.
"Mhm." Chase said feeling his touch again. It reminded him of the queen's touch with her gentle yet warm feeling.
Ryder say up with some grunts.
"Slow it down. Your gonna hurt yourself." Chase told Ryder.
"I know, it's nice seeing you again. I've been looking at barkingburg newspaper every once and awhile and I see something about you stopping people with Sylvia. Nice to meet you by the way." Ryder said to her.
It was weird talking to someone who you didn't know about but they knew much about you.
"Hi, chase told me some stories about you." She said thinking of the only 2 she has heard from chase.
"Rubble, Zuma. Where the others?" Ryder asked the duo.
"I have no cl-"
"They are with Katie and makayla. Marshall and Everest are at the fire station with ash and coal." Zuma said.
"Ahh, when are you and Ella gonna have kids. I've been waiting." Ryder joked making Zuma feel uncomfortable.
"Sorry to interrupt but do you remember much of what happened?" Chase asked
"No, I was in my car then someone drove up and ya know. This happened. Then I stopped some of the bleeding before I think passing out." Ryder explained
"Oh." Chase said knowing the chief won't like the news.
"Why, are you here for us or because of something else?" Ryder asked
"They think the gang is coming back. I think it's something deeper though..." chase said his thoughts.
"Oh, okay." Ryder said now feeling down about him not being here for them.
He pushed it off and continued to talk.
"Umm, I know the media doesn't know everything but are you two dating?" Ryder asked out of blue hoping it doesn't make them fell awkward understanding people can definitely change over 5 years.
"Mhm." Sylvia nodded.
They didn't know this but it added more salt to rubbles internal wound.
"How long?" Ryder asked hoping it would have been more than a year.
"Like a week." Chase said feeling embarrassed to their fresh relationship.
"That's sad." Zuma said holding in a laugh.
"How? We've been working together for like 4 years." Sylvia stated.
"Dang 4 years and barley dating 1 week?" Zuma fires dang.
"Dang, 4 years and still no pups?" Chase said going for the low blow.
"I- I like taking my time. Ya know." Zuma said
"We like taking out time." Sylvia said.
"Ya know, maybe it's better staying single..." rubble joked.
They all looked towards him not making a single noise. Then Ryder let out a sudden burst of laughing.
"Ooh boy. You guys look like little kids." He said as he laughed.
"I hear you have a daughter though." Chase said remembering the little girl that pulled his ear trying to ride him like a horse.
"Yeah, I do." Ryder said
"She thinks I'm a horse and tries to ride me." Chase said thinking of the small child mind.
"Don't worry. She thinks rocky is a smart unicorn, Marshall is a fire breathing zebra and Everest is a yeti." Ryder chuckled at the last one.
Chase let out a chuckle as well.
"So, have you spoke to everybody else then I'm assuming." Ryder said
Chase and Sylvia nodded.
"Now you guys can do even tug of war.." Ryder said
"Ohh..." Sylvia said not knowing what other tug of war there it besides rope pulling.
They talked out the rest of the visiting hours they had. Enjoying most of it and opening cans of laughs while doing it.
Somewhere
"S-sir. The deed it done"
"Good. So Henry killed the boy."
"We think so..." the voice said sheepishly.
"If he's not dead. I want Henry dead. You got that. What about that guy in barkingburg? Do you have information on who found him out?"
"S-sir. The events of what I'm about to tell you are insanely improbable but the people who found you five years ago. Busted that guy in barkingburg. They are back here now because we believe he had connections with the boy."
"Okay, so. We'll kill anyone who's in our way..."
Aaaaand done. This chapter took some extra time. I didn't have much planning for this but when I did I didn't save it and 2k words down the drain. So here I am rewriting it 2 days later. I don't know when the next chapter for the prophecy will come out. Same thing with the one shots. I have multiple story ideas I want to use when I'm finished with these stories. For now I will probably use them in the one shots then expand on it. Not with the same ships most likely but the concept will be the same into an actual story. Anyways hope you enjoyed this chapter and I know I wrote a lot at the end here but There's things I want to address. I'm not done talking yet but I'll continue it next chapter.
