as soon as they heard the tsunami alarm, Ray took his group to the port, and managed to find a boat.
"what are you doing?" Ben asked. "isn't it dangerous?"
"we're gonna get ahead of the wave." Enaya guessed. "get aboard."
the actor obeyed. Ray turned to the young girl.
"are you as good with boats ase you are with cats?" he asked with hope.
"everything that purrs." she said with a smile. "Move over."
she put her hand on the contact, while Ray started the motor. He then took the wheel, and got the boat toward the bay's exit. The water was drawing back as fast as they were getting forward. Ray gave full power to the boat, and watched as the giant wave was starting to form in front of them.
"we're not fast enough." he stated. "get rid of everything you can."
Emma, Benedict and Enaya therefore started searching every corner of the boat, throwing awyay of everything they didn't need. The boat, lighter, got a bit faster.
"that's not enough. We're not gonna make it."
Enaya sat next to the motor.
"Benedict, I'm gonna need your help." she said.
"what can I do?"
"I'm gonna boost the motor." I need you to get to the front of the boat, and make sure nothing hits me."
"how do I do that?"
that was a question. Not a way to say it was impossible.
"empty your mind and use it to push the obstacles away. Imagine a shield around the boat."
he nodded, and got to the front. The young girl focused, and gave the last orders.
"Emma, hold on tight. And Ray... don't lose us."
she put her hand on the engine, and the boat got faster and faster.
"we're gonna make it."
soon, they started climbing the watery mountain. Benedict, standing at the front of the boat, was holding on with one hand, and, eyes looking inside himself, with his other hand, he was pushing away everything that was coming their way. Suddenly a cargoship capsized in front of them, and it took both his extreme concentration and Ray's talent to avoid the collision. Enaya boosted the engine even further, and they managed to pass the giant wave's crest just before it broke. The tsunami destroyed everything on its way, causing the Golden Gate to collapse. Benedict came back to himself, and Enaya let herself fall, exhausted. Ray stabilized the boat, and they all got to her.
"I'm not saying that often..." she breathed out. "but when it's over, I wouldn't say no to a vacation."
Benedict started laughing.
"you know..." she continued. "a nice weak in a spa resort, with a swimming pool, the sun, and an all inclusive formula... why not the carribean?"
"I'm in for it!" the actor laughed. "but first we have to find the others."
she sat up with a groan.
"give me a syringe." she said.
"are you sure?" he asked.
She nodded, and he searched her backpack, looking for a blue syringe. Ray gave her the injection, and she let out a sigh of relief.
