"We'll deal with it later," Sara insisted, "The monster alarm sounded a whole minute ago, we have to go."
...Five minutes earlier in the Enchanted Forest…
Mordred frowned as he watched a group of dark knights sitting around a campfire. There had to be something that he could do, Morgana was getting impatient. He had to find a way to get rid of the power rangers. They were mortals after all there had to be something about that information that he could use.
What monsters does he have that could prove deadly, something that the power rangers wouldn't see until it was too late. What did they have that they wouldn't see coming. They hadn't used Banemirage yet. Perhaps, yes, Banemirage was perfect, all he had to do was infect the power rangers and they would fight each other instead of the monster. Then they would be able to search for the Holy Grail without fear of being caught. All he needed was a distraction so that the monster could get through the blasted monster sensors that the school had set up around the perimeter.
"Dark Knights, attack," he barked pointing towards the front of the school, "Banemirage, slip into the school and do some damage."
…
J.T. swung his hammer around, slamming it hard into one of the dark knights, "Man if I had known it was just these bozoes I wouldn't have worried about Mark and his mom having to hide."
"Still," Frank insisted, "This is a little odd, don't you think? They show up and then there's a monster attack."
"Monsters attacked the first day you showed up and you don't see us pointing fingers," Sara pointed out.
"Let's deal with this now," Mason suggested, "And we'll deal with the new kid later."
…
Mark popped up from beneath the table as soon as the sirens faded to quiet, "That was kind of weird," he commented, "It's going to get old fast, having to hide like that all the time."
"Trust me," Kat said, crawling out after her son, "The power rangers preferred the ones who ran and hid to those who tried to interfere or stick a microphone in their face during the fight."
"Yeah, right, if this is what this school is going to be like, I don't think I want to stay." Mark insisted, hopping onto the counter and peering down over the edge, "Even our tour guide bailed on us," he announced, "That has got to be a sign that this school isn't a good one."
"Come on Mark, just give it a try please," Kat pleaded, "Trust me, this would be good for you."
"You're Mom's right," a voice called out, causing them to whirl around in surprise, standing in the doorway to the bowling alley was Sara, her hands on her hips, "I wasn't to pleased to be here myself, but for the most part the other students are rather nice, and the teachers are the best in the state."
"Wow," J.T. said skipping up next to Sara and throwing an arm around her shoulders, "You know when you get someone like Sara to say something good about something you know it must be true," He cupped his hand over the side of his mouth and stage whispered, "She usually can't find anything nice to say about a sunny afternoon."
"Honestly J.T." Sara scowled, flinging his arm off, "There's nothing wrong with a sunny afternoon except for the fact that I have the burn time of about five minutes."
"See what I mean!" J.T. said, throwing his arms up in the air in a dramatic fashion.
"I think we should skip the rest of the tour for now, and show you our dorm room," Mason said, purposely stepping in between J.T. and Sara before a full-blown fight could break out between them.
Mark looked at Mason and his friends in front of him and at the counter behind him, "How did…"
"There's secret tunnels all over the school," J.T. announced, "It use to be part of the Underground Railroad."
Mason shot J.T. a look, "There is so much wrong with that sentence." he muttered, spinning around on his heels, "Come on let's get you settled, don't worry there shouldn't be any more monster attacks for a while now."
"But that wasn't an actual monster attack," Sara huffed, "That was just Dark Knights, there could still be an actual monster attack at any moment."
"Sara," her friends screeched, giving her a dirty look.
Sara shrugged, "It's true, Dark Knights aren't monsters, they're foot warriors, an actual monster attack can happen at any time now."
"Sara let's not scare the new kid, alright," Mason said, throwing an arm around Sara for a brief second before saying, "Come on, there's nothing to worry about, okay."
…
Mark glanced around the dorm room, he guessed it would have to do since his Mom was determined that he should stay there. "So how often do monsters attack?" he asked his roommate.
Mason looked up from where he was straightening up his desk, picking up anything that might have spilled over to Mark's side of the room during the first two months of school.
"About once a week," Mason said, "But it's usually just Dark Knights, and no one has ever gotten hurt, not even Stacy Sanders, and she's been captured by them once."
Mark shook his head, "I don't know about this, I don't really like the fact that Mom's dumping me here, but she and Dad are splitting and Mom sometimes has to travel for work, so I'm getting dumped here." Mark swung his leg out catching the end of the desk with his toe, "I Hate it, why do I have to get caught in the middle of Mom and Dad's fight."
Mason glanced at his watch with a frown, "I need to check on something," he confessed, "Why don't you unpack and I'll be back in a little while."
Mark frowned, was Mason always going to act cryptically around him, what was he hiding?
…
"Are you sure you saw a monster J.T.?" Frank asked, glancing at his roommate in disbelief, the monster alarm hasn't gone off since the Dark Knight invasion."
"Look," the black ranger said leaning forward, "All I know is that I saw something, inhuman, move out of the corner of my eye, I think a monster snuck into the school while we were busy with the Dark Knights. Everyone knows that the monster alarms aren't foolproof."
"J.T.'s right, all we really have is a proximity alarm, and those are easy to fool."
"So where is this monster," Sara asked, "J.T. only claims that he saw movement out of the corner of his eye, there isn't much to go on."
….
Mark grumbled to himself as he started to unpack his suitcase, his mother wasn't bending so he might as well make the most of it.
Suddenly there was a scraping noise behind him, perhaps Mason was back. Mark turned around, about to greet his roommate when he saw a tall lizard-like monster looming over him.
"Hello Power Ranger," the monster hissed, leaning down over Mark.
