Alex had successfully taken her entrance exam and was placed in the appropriate courses. She woke up incredibly excited for her first day of school. Brennan, was nervous and sad she couldn't see her for the entire day. She had taken many pictures to remember the day, she wanted her apartment to be filled with pictures of Alex. Brennan was sitting at her desk waiting for the time to go by. "Hey, sweetie! How was the first day of school sent off?" Angela says as she comes into her office. Brenna sighed and smiled, "it was great. She was so excited. I took pictures," she says as she takes out her phone. "For not being biologically related, you two have some similarities! She's so cute!" Angela says. "I know, thank you. As she walked towards the building, she turned back and waved to me, I nearly broke out into tears." She says, "let me guess, you cried on your way here?" Angela asks. Brennan nods, "I love this Brennan sweetie. I'm so proud of you." Angela tells her best friend. Brennan smiles, "me too, Angela."
Brennan had a meeting with her attorney during her lunch break. She successfully acquired all the necessary documentation to proceed the adoption process. Brennan's spirits were uplifted and could not wait to tell Booth the news. As she was thinking about their talk and their kids Booth had appeared at her door frame . "Hey, you." She says with a bright smile. Booth walked in with a bright smile and a loving demeanor. He hugged her and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "We're at work, Booth!" she says as she gives him a hug. "I know, I just missed you. Also, thank you for sending me Alex's first day of school pictures. She's adorable!" he says holding up the phone. Brennan laughs, "Of course. I'm picking her up. Would you like to tag along? To hear about her first day?" she asks. Booth smiles, "I thought you'd never ask, Bones. I really want to kiss you." he says. She looks around and points to the opposite side of her office, they both walk over, and give each other a quick kiss. "I really wanted to kiss you too." she says as she bit her lower lip. "I spoke to my attorney today, I began filling out the paperwork for the adoption process." She says excited. Booth jumps up, "Oh, that's great! Have you told Alex yet?" He asks. "No I have not. I don't want to say anything until we have to meet with the judge to officially adopt her." She says, "but what I do know is that she wants to be with me." Booth quickly gives her another kiss. "Of course she wants to. Your her mom." He says.
It was finally time to go pick up Alex from school. Both Brennan and Booth were anxiously awaiting for their girl to walk out of the doors. "There she is Bones!" Booth says as they get out of the car. Alex spots her mom and Booth and begins to run towards them. Brennan awaits with open arms, "Hello, sweetheart! How was school? I missed you." She says as she embraces her. "Hi mommy! It was so much fun! I made friends. I missed you too." She says as she gets out from her hug, "Hi Booth!" She says excited as she jumps in his arms. Booth embraces her and gives her a kiss on the cheek, "you look adorable! Did you learn a lot today?" He asks as he puts her down. Alex nods, "yes, I did! A substantial amount!" She says as she winks. Brennan takes her hand and so does Booth as they walk towards the car. "We want to hear all about it. Your teachers, classes, and friends." Brennan says as she sits in the passenger seat. "Of course, I'll tell you guys everything. I'm happy you came to pick me up too Booth, I missed you." She says. Booth winks at Alex, "I missed you too Kiddo." Alex giggles and squirms in her seat as she begins describing her day in detail. What stood out to the couple was Alex's description of her science class, they began to learn about anatomy, and of course Alex was thrilled and ahead of her class. "Like a mother like daughter huh Bones?" Booth says and Brennan laughed, "yes, just like her mother." She says as she makes eye contact with Alex. Alex just smiled and nodded.
Booth dropped the girls off at the lab and he quickly gave Bones a kiss on the lips as they said their goodbyes. Hoping that Alex hadn't noticed. "See you soon kiddo," he hugs Alex goodbye and gives her a kiss on the forehead. "It better be soon, Booth" she says as she gives him a sly smile. "You Brennan's are quite demanding," he says and winks. "Come on baby. Let's go home and talk dinner." Brennan says as they walk towards their car. "Mom, I really like Booth. He feels like my dad sometimes." Alex says. Brenna continues to drive home and smiles, "he's always going to be there for you, okay? He wants to protect you like I do." She says. "I know. I'm happy about that." She says as she pulls out a book from her book bag. Soon enough both Brennan and Booth would have to tell Alex they were a couple. They both knew that she'd be thrilled but they did not want to overwhelm the child. "I have a lot of homework. I can't wait to start it. I want to be just like you, mom." Alex says as she flips to the next page of her book. Brennan laughs, "You can be whoever you want to be. I'm always proud of you." She says. Alex stops reading and smiles. They reached their home and while approaching their apartment Brennan noticed Alex's tear stained cheeks. "Honey, what's wrong?" She asks as she lifts her chin up. Alex looks at Brennan, "I just got so happy and i started to cry. I've never done that before. I'm sorry." She says. Brennan gives her a loving smile and tight hug. "It's perfectly normal. Trust me. I'm happy that you're experiencing such an emotion. I do it too." She says as she lets her go. Alex rubs her eyes, "okay, for a second I thought I was weird." She says as they enter their apartment. "It's time to take off your uniform, take a shower, and put on some comfy clothes." Brennan orders. Alex smiles and nods and walks to her bedroom to do as she's told.
