The phone call arrived a week later, on aSunday afternoon. They put it on speaker, their hands finding each other as a sign of support. Crown told them that there was no sign of complications in the case so they could be able to come back, but it was still too soon for both Nick and Flynn to do the same. They were safe now, Emily didn't actually have to leave in the first place, she could have stayed in Boston but she did it just in case, then when she found out she was pregnant she decided to stay there until they were safe. Now they were.

She smiled up at Cal, their baby could finally born in her true hometown and they could give her the surname they wanted and not just a fake one just to go over thousands of paperwork to change it once they had gotten back to Boston. They were so happy. Once the call ended her arms locked around his neck as she pulled him in a tight hug.

"We're going back home" she said smiling.

"We are" he said back.

It took them a week, as they planned, to pack everything and start sending all the boxes to Boston. Since they were still away they had to send them to Jack's house, because Cal's apartment was empty, so no one could have been able to organize everything in his garage. They also looked for houses in Boston, getting three possibilities to visit when they went there.

Their plan was to take a flight that same week end, spend three days to visit the houses they searched for on the internet and then Cal would have come back to pack and sell everything they left. Emily had left her work and Cal took some weeks off before being transferred back into the Boston bureau.

"Are you excited for tomorrow?" he asked while caressing her hair.

"I can't wait" she raised her head from his chest to look at him, who gave her a warm smile.

"Sleep well my love, we're coming back home" he kissed her lips quickly before turning off the light.

"Good night" she said, getting her head back on his chest and closing her eyes.

The flight went good, she slept for a couple hours and they used the time left to organize their life for the following months. She would have stayed at home, the FBI told her they would have been honored to have her back but due to her pregnancy she couldn't be on the field, she either had to be stuck to paperworks for the next month and then go on maternity, or just come back after their baby was born.

"Emily, we're landing" he said gently shaking her.

She raised her head from his shoulder, sleepy eyes meeting with his. He chuckled, touching her nose with his finger.

"Good morning sleeping beauty" he smiled and she let out a really disappointing sound, snuggling back against him.

He laughed, kissing her head.

When they landed and exited the plane she took a deep breath, Boston was definitely warmer than where they were used to live and she missed that warmth on her skin. They had booked their flight with their fake IDs just in case, so they had to have their normal ones back, which were kept safe by the FBI. They took a cab to go to Cal's apartment, just for leaving their suitcases.

"I hope you like it. It definitely needs to be cleaned but I hope it will feel a bit like home for you" he said opening the door and helping her in.

"It's perfect Cal. You're my home" she kissed him softly, she would have lived everywhere, as long as he was with her.

"Pregnancy is definitely making you softer Byrne" he chuckled on her lips.

"I think you're right you know" she smiled.

"Come on, let's go get our IDs back" he said, taking her hand and exiting the apartment.

The road trip to the bureau was fast, Cal's apartment was pretty near to it. As soon as they got into the office everyone looked at them, immediately getting up and welcoming them back. Emily left the previous year in a pretty harsh way but once everyone discovered she was right she was seen as some kind of superhero for going against her work and everyone to save her ex husband. Cal obviously wasn't left out of the picture, the news of them getting together and starting a family spread pretty quickly between their co workers and they all got the opportunity to give their congratulations to them.

"Welcome back guys!" they heard Crown say as he approached them.

"Glad to see you Derek" Cal answered shaking hands with him.

"Emily, how are you?" he asked looking at her.

"I'm good Derek thanks for asking" she smiled.

"Congratulations to both of you. Here's your IDs and your driver licenses" he handled them the documents before speaking again.

"Going back to work, Emily you can come back after maternity, take the time you need and don't be stubborn coming back before the time. Cal you have two weeks off as you asked, then you come back to work and we're gonna give you two months off starting the day your baby will be born. Is it ok for you?" Crown asked.

"Sure, thank you so much" Cal answered, it was actually more than he thought. He didn't even think about the fact that they would have agreed to give him time off work once they had the baby.

"Ok in that case, Cal, I'll see youin two weeks. Emily you can come visit us whenever you want, you're always welcome here. May I ask you if you have already decided the baby's name?" he asked.

"Alison, her name will be Alison" Emily answered smiling.

"So it's a girl. I like the name. Congratulations again guys. I need to go now, have a nice day" Derek smiled, getting back to work.

The following three days were exhausting, they unpacked just the few things they needed, the ones they had put in their suitcases, while they gathered all the boxes in both Cal and Jack's garage. They visited a new house each day, they had three different options: an open space apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study. An independent house a bit outside of the city but it had a garden, three bedrooms, a study and three bathroom, but it was a bit too expensive for them. Finally the last day they fell in love with this big apartment, it was a bit far from both the city center and their work place but it had a school nearby, it was a pretty safe neighborhood with a park in front of their building. The apartment had three bedrooms, in that way they also had another room if Flynn would have liked to spend the night at their house, three bathrooms and an open space kitchen and living room. They could definitely afford it due to it's distance from the city center and all the most crowded areas, so they decided to buy it. They told them they could move in the following week since the house was new and no one had to pack and leave it. They had their old furniture already packed, they just had to buy some for the kitchen and the bathroom. Their main aim now was to get everything done just in the rooms they needed the most, which were the kitchen, the living room, their bedroom and one bathroom. They still had three months to get Alison's room ready and who knows how much before Flynn could come back.

Cal went back to Europe to pack everything else up and send them to Boston the following week. He came back four days later and immediately started to bring everything to their new house while they still lived at his old apartment.

"I bet you're tired" Emily said running a hand through his hair while his head was laid in the crook of her neck.

"I am... but all the furniture we need is now ready in the new house. We can also take some from this apartment before selling it if you like something" he answered cuddling more against her on the bed.

"It's ok Cal, we should sell this apartment with all the furniture so we can earn a bit more from it" she suggested.

"You're right, as always" he closed his eyes, making her chuckle.

"I'm not, and thank you, for everything you're doing" she said, leaving a kiss on his head, but getting no answer.

"Cal?" she called him, raising her head a bit but seeing he fell asleep.

She smiled, caressing his hair again and turning off the light.

"I love you" she whispered before closing her eyes and falling asleep too.

The following day they finally moved into their new house. Looking around they couldn't help but thinking that that place would have been the house where their baby would have grown up, the place where they would have started a family, where they finally would have been safe. Cal looked at Emily and observed how she moved around, she was so used at seeing her walking around in their house when they were in Europe but somehow it felt more real now. He looked at her and he couldn't imagine seeing her in any other house but theirs. He loved her and he couldn't wait to have her around for the rest of their lives, raising their baby girl together and enjoying their lives.

"Cal? Did you hear me?" Emily's voice brought him back to reality.

"I'm sorry, I didn't. What did you say?" he asked.

"I said we should go to the grocery store to buy something cause we are kinda running out of food. And then we can relax a bit this afternoon" she said again looking at him.

"Sure, we can definitely do that. I'm kinda starving actually and I'm really tired for the last few days" he explained, running a hand on his face.

"I know. Thank you for doing it and don't worry, I'm taking care of unpacking all our stuff while you go to work on Monday. Now you need a few days to relax" she told him, gently stroking his cheek.

"Don't lift anything too heavy and if you're tired just stop doing whatever you're doing please" he said, he didn't want her to feel the need to do it, they had time.

"Don't worry" she kissed him softly before leaving the house together.

Emily was right, he definitely needed some time to relax, the last few days had been a pure hell, due to the hard working on the furniture and also the hot weather that was starting to arrive. That afternoon they started watching a movie, they had so many movies they wanted to watch when they were in Europe but changing the language to English was a hell on normal tv so they just gave up, but Cal ended up sleeping on her shoulder for the whole time. She slowly run a hand through his hair, keep doing it the whole time as she left small kisses on his head. She loved him so much and she definitely couldn't wait for more days like this, just chilling on the couch, the three of them, watching some kind of Disney movie for sure with Cal falling asleep in the middle of it and probably Alison too. Which left her alone trying to figure out how to change channel without neither of them waking up and noticing.

She chuckled at the thought, remembering how Flynn used to do it too. They let him choose the movie and he was always so proud to have that honor that he always tried to stay awake to watch it all, but he just couldn't, so he snuggled up on her side and she watched him sleeping. Right now someone actually was asleep snuggled up against her, but he was just a bit too grown up to be a baby, but it made her chuckle, letting her head rest on top of his own.

She looked around at their house, with boxes everywhere, some of them half unpacked, still unfinished but already so theirs. They just had to wait for their baby to join them and then everything would have been just perfect.
