"It's a simple extraction. We go into space, we get the astronauts, we bring them home. Any questions?" Raven asks as the group is suited up and walking towards the jet.
"Yeah like a thousand." Scott says as he takes a step forward.
"We don't have time for a thousand." Raven says.
"So we're going to space?" Kurt asks.
"Yes Kurt we are going into space.. or at least that's the way I'm understanding it." Alexis says as Kurt smiles at her.
"We're doing space missions now. Cool." Peter says.
"Will the X-Jet even get that high?" Scott asks worriedly.
"Well technically the-" Hank then gets cut off by Raven.
"It will get us there. Let's go." Raven says as everyone gets in the jet and leaves.
*Timeskip*
"I think this is not as much fun as I thought it would be." Kurt says as the group then makes it into space.
"That's a solar flare?" Raven asks as she sees a solar flare in the distance.
"I've never seen a reading like this. The orientation thruster's misfiring. That cabin won't hold for long." Hank says as the group go over to a spinning space shuttle.
"Kurt can you get in there?" Raven asks.
"It's spinning too fast. I can't see inside the window." Kurt says as he gestures to the spinning shuttle in the distance.
"Scott I need you to blast that thruster. Slow down the spin. Kurt take Peter. Go! Storm, Alexis seal those cracks." Raven says as everyone does as they are told.
"Strap in we're headed home." Raven says as she sees Kurt and Peter return with the astronauts from the shuttle.
"Wait. Our commander he's not here. He was in the airlock working on the thruster." A woman says as Hank looks at Raven.
"The heat signature's rising fast." Hank says.
"I can't hold it any longer." Storm says.
"Neither can I." Alexis says.
"We gotta get out of here. I said strap in. I am not putting this team in more danger." Raven says the Professor starts talking with her and Jean.
"I can hold the ship together but not from here. I need to get inside." Jean says as Alexis looks at her.
"The heat's spiking. We've got less than a minute till those flares hit." Hank says as he looks at Raven.
"She said she can do it." Scott says.
"I believe in her." Alexis says.
"Thirty seconds. Count it down. Go." Raven says as Kean leaves with Kurt before Kurt and the commander arrive without Jean.
"Where's Jean?" Alexis asks.
"Kurt where is she? Where is she!?" Scott asks in alarm.
"I'm sorry!" Kurt shouts before alarms go off.
"Brace for impact." Hank says as he sees the solar flare go towards the shuttle before the shuttle explodes. The group then sees Jean floating before Kurt teleports to her and brings her inside.
"Is every... Is everybody okay?" Jean asks weakly as she opens her eyes while Scott is holding her.
"Yeah we're okay." Scott says in relief as he hugs Jean.
"So let's go home." Jean says weakly as the group heads back home.
*Timeskip*
As the group arrives back home the students are gathered and cheering for them.
"That's enough boys and girls. That's enough. The X-Men have today done an incredibly brave thing. They've once again proved to humanity exactly why they need us. People like yourselves. The president sends his regards as well as his heartfelt gratitude. And as for myself I've never been prouder. Enjoy yourselves. You certainly deserve it. In fact you all do. No more class the end of the day." The Professor says as students head off in different directions.
